Vote Like You Have Never Voted Before

A little diversion today from the typical political class insanity that we usually review in this blog. No Obama Care disasters, no stupid spending by Washington, no insulting political comments and slurs. Today I want to make the case that everyone who legally can, should go out and vote this Tuesday and more importantly, vote like you have never voted before.

What do I mean by that, “vote like you have never voted before?” Consider what the current set of Washington politicians has done to us:
  • They have given us a national debt of almost $18 trillion, over $50,000 for every man, woman, and child in this country, and left us with nothing to show for it.
  • They have implemented economic policies that have stuck us with meager economic growth relative to historic standards, have caused the real unemployment rate to be over ten percent for years, and have forced over 45 million Americans to rely on government food assistance to survive.
  • They have failed to resolve a major issue in decades including the lost war on drugs, failing public schools, the lack of a national energy policy and strategy, and ever rising health care costs.
  • They have failed to seal our borders resulting in elevated levels of illegal immigrants and an ever rising threat of terrorism within our borders.
  • They have implemented a so-called health care reform law, Obama Care, that has caused millions and millions of Americans to lose access to their preferred insurance plans, doctors, and hospitals, has aggravated an existing doctor shortage, has caused most peoples’ health insurance premiums and deductibles to rise dramatically, has increased hospital emergency room caseloads, has raised the threat of identify theft substantially, and has no chance of actually reducing health care costs in this country since the root causes of those high costs were never addressed by the legislation.
  • They have lorded over a bloated Federal bureaucracy that wastes money like there is no tomorrow, a bureaucracy that allows major social programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid to head unimpeded into insolvency, and accepts mediocrity and criminal behavior from Federal employees without consequences.
  • They have allowed this same Federal government to trample ordinary citizens’ Constitutional rights, including the First Amendment when the IRS and the current administration denied freedom of speech rights to conservative causes and the Fourth Amendment when various agencies of the Federal government spied on millions and millions of Americans’ communications without due process, warrants or any defendable reason.
  • And worst of all, the current set of politicians have graced us with a gridlocked government where getting themselves reelected takes a huge priority over formulating solutions, where naming post offices is about the extent of their ability to enact any kind of positive legislation.
This is what the current set of politicians, both Democrat and Republicans have done to us. So next Tuesday, vote like you have never voted before: vote for a Libertarian, vote for a Socialist, vote for a Constitutional Party representative, vote for a Green Party candidate, vote for yourself if need be.

Given what the Democrats and Republicans have done to this country, given how ineffective they have been, how much worst could it be if a few Libertarians or Socialists actually got elected? I would rather have a passionate Libertarian and a passionate Socialist debate the issues and arrive at a consensus that might actually benefit the citizens of this country than continue with the gridlock and selfishness of the current crop of Washington politicians. How much worse could it get?

If a Libertarian or Socialist option is to radical for your taste, than how about voting against all incumbents? The old saying that if you are not part of the solution than you are part of the problem certainly applies here. Many of our current politicians have been in office for 20, 30 and even 40 years.

If they are not to blame for the problems listed above than who is? Without term limits, voting out incumbents is the only way to get fresh, new blood into the process, a process that has atrophied horribly. Because really, how much worst could it get with new people coming to Washington? At least we could still get Post Offices named and maybe even resolve an issue or two. Wouldn’t that be refreshing. But it only happens if you vote like you have never voted before.

October, 2014 I am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science, Part 2: More Scientists Become Doubters And Al Gore's Worst Nightmares

On a periodic basis, we revisit a continuing theme in this blog, “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” Several years ago we started investigating the viability of this position for a number of reasons:
  • It did not appear that global warming advocates were looking at all of the available global warming science, realities, and trends, just those select pieces of information that supported their position.
  • There seemed to be a growing sense of doubt among scientists about whether or not global warming was actually a real thing.
  • We were getting tired of Al Gore and others of his ilk who constantly were calling those that were undecided about global warming a whole litany of slurs including racists, homophobes, and other insulting terms.
After researching and writing about dozens of global warming information sources, we have proven over and over that it is perfectly logical to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science:
  • Realities show that global warming actually stopped about 18 years ago, causing global warming advocates to rebrand their position as “climate change” since “global warming” was no longer an emerging reality.
  •  Turns out the major global warming forecast models all turned out to be grossly inaccurate in predicting future climate and warming trends, throwing into doubt whether any man made global warming or climate change was actually happening.
  • Major and reputable scientists and science organizations (e.g. the renowned CERN Institute) were either originally determining that man made global warming and climate control never existed or changing their position to become doubters of what they may have original believed about global warming.
  • Important and prominent scientists around the world were caught manipulating climate data to verify their false claims and forecast models or were outed for at least contemplating changing real world data to match their ill performing analyses and forecasting models.
Previous exposes’ of global warming and climate change theories by using real world numbers, scientific experiments, and the simple act of observing can be accessed in this blog by typing “I am a global warming doubter” in the search box above. At that point, you will be provided many previous posts from this blog including dozens and dozens of information sources that more and more point to a repudiation of Al Gore and others, man made global warming, and man made climate change.

The latest proof that you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in sciences is discussed below:

1) Patrick Michaels is the director of the Cato Institute's Center for the Study of Science. He has a doctorate in ecological climatology so I guess you could consider him a scientist. Michaels spent three decades as a research professor of environmental sciences at the University of Virginia and was a contributing editor to the United Nations' Second Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report.

In a recent interview he stated, as a scientist: "It has to be admitted eventually that too much warming was forecast too fast. This just has to happen. You can't go on and on and on. If the surface temperature resumed the warming rate that we observed from, say 1977 through 1998, we would still go close to a quarter of a century without significant net warming because there's such a long flat period built into the record now."

“Without significant net warming.“ Sounds like maybe Al Gore and his limited set of scientists missed the boat on the global warming hysteria. Michaels went on within the interview to highlight the findings from the University of Illinois' Polar Ice Research Center. Those scientists found that the Antarctic ice cap "is at its highest extent measured by the current microwave satellite sounding system" since 1978: “And if you take a close look at the Arctic data, it appears the decline [in polar ice] stopped around 2005/2006, which means we've almost had 10 years without any net loss in Arctic ice."

2) Talk about politicians being out of touch with what is important to Americans. A opinion survey earlier this year found that Americans ranked global warming 19th out of twenty issues that concerned them. Seems Americans have a lot more worries on their plate that rank far above the potential and weakening aspect of global warming.

Compare that reality to Secretary of State John Kerry's recent claim that climate change is "the biggest challenge of all that we face right now." Given all that we have discussed over the years relative to the science, realities, and numbers of climate and climate research, that increasingly show little if any relationship between mankind’s activities and global warming/climate change, how out of touch is Kerry and his boss in the White House relative to the needs of Americans?

3) Even some people who worked within the Obama administration are finally seeing the fallacy of Al Gore’s paranoia and ranting. Dr. Steven Koonin is a former high-ranking Obama administration official who served at the Energy Department as President Obama’s undersecretary for science in the Energy Department. He is currently the director of the Center for Urban Science and Progress at New York University.

He recently stated that climate science and the implications of global warming are not "settled," going on to say that such claims are "misguided" and actually stifle debate on the matter. He laid out his position in a recent Wall Street Journal article.

Koonin proposed that “group think” among climate experts has been inhibiting "the scientific and policy discussions that we need to have about our climate future: "We often hear that there is a 'scientific consensus' about climate change, But as far as the computer models go, there isn't a useful consensus at the level of detail relevant to assessing human influences."

Koonin claimed in the article that his extensive background as a computational physicist, including a 40-year career of scientific research and management, has given him an up-close knowledge of climate science: "Detailed technical discussions during the past year with leading climate scientists have given me an even better sense of what we know, and don't know, about climate."

He concludes that whether the climate is changing is not disputed, as "the climate has always changed and always will." But for him, the primary unanswered question is how the climate will change under both natural and man-made influences, that is the only way to answer how mankind should react. He does believe, though in the picture of Mother Nature, "they [humans] are physically small in relation to the climate system as a whole," with additions to carbon dioxide to "directly shift the atmosphere's natural greenhouse effect by only 1% to 2%"no different, and no more certain" than it was 30 years ago.

4) Let’s finish today with some realities and facts as laid out in late October in the following NewsMax article:
  • Even though global warming stopped about 18 years ago, the Federal government still spends $22 billion a year to fight the global warming crisis. This is twice as much as it spends futilely trying to protect our southern border. (twice as much as it spends protecting our border).
  •  According to Forbes columnist Larry Bell, , the ripple effect of global warming initiatives actually costs Americans $1.75 trillion every year. This comes out to over $15,000 a year for every U.S. household, $15,000 that cannot be spent productively to grow the economy or provide more personal satisfaction and freedom for every American.
  • The $1.75 trillion is about four times larger than this year’s Federal budget deficit.
  • This spending nonsense has been going on even though NASA’s own data, via Remote Sensing Systems (RSS), shows that the world has warmed a mere .36 degrees Fahrenheit over the last 35 years (they started measuring the data in 1979), with no warming in the past 18 years or so.
  • The global warming thesis weakens further when you consider that the North Polar ice cap is increasing in size, as measured by satellite images from NASA which actually reflect an increase of 43% to 63%.
  • Compare this reality to the historical delusion from Al Gore who boldly, and grossly incorrectly predicted: “The North Polar ice cap is falling off a cliff. It could be completely gone in summer in as little as seven years. Seven years from now.”
  • Even though the President of the United States clearly stated on twitter on May 16, 2014 that, “97% of scientists agree: climate change is real, man-made and dangerous,” the Wall Street Journal  found that, “The assertion that 97% of scientists believe that climate change is a man-made, urgent problem is a fiction.” and Forbes headlined an article with the title “Global Warming Alarmists Caught Doctoring ’97% Consensus’ Claims.”
  • Claude Allegre, the founding father of the man-made global warming ethos, recently renounced his position that man has caused warming.
  • The NewsMax article also asserts that proof is emerging that Al Gore and even President Obama have financially benefited from fueling the global warming hysteria.

That will do it for this month’s review of the theme, “I am a global warming doubter and a believer in science.” As always when we finish these updates, I would like to tell Al Gore and his followers to shut up and sit down so that we can have an adult conversation on climate matters.

No more name calling, no more slurs. Just adult conversation. Because the facts and realities are starting to pile up that show the doubters are right, the Al Gores are wrong. And that must really be an inconvenient truth for him.

October, 2014 I Am A Global Warming Doubter and Believer In Science Update, Part 1:NASA Says No To Global Warming and More

On a periodic basis, we revisit a continuing theme in this blog, “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” Several years ago we started investigating the viability of this position for a number of reasons:

Ÿ  It did not appear that global warming advocates were looking at all of the available global warming science, realities, and trends, just those select pieces of information that supported their position.
Ÿ  There seemed to be a growing sense of doubt among scientists about whether or not global warming was actually a real thing.
Ÿ  We were getting tired of Al Gore and others of his ilk who constantly were calling those that were undecided about global warming a whole litany of slurs including racists, homophobes, and other insulting terms.

1) The latest claim by global warming advocates is that global warming is occurring but the additional warming is being stored deep in ocean bottoms. Under this theory, at some point in the future when the oceans can no longer absorb any more man made global warming, the earth’s temperatures will rise dramatically, proving once and for all that global warming does exist.

However, recent data released by NASA runs counter to this new unfounded claim. The latest NASA data from NASA satellite and direct ocean temperature measurements, taken from 2005 to 2013,  "found the ocean abyss below 1.24 miles (1,995 meters) has not warmed measurably."  The NASA researchers involved in this research said their approach, described in the journal Nature Climate Change, is the first to test the idea using satellite observations, as well as direct temperature measurements of the oceans‘ temperatures.

Even given the latest data from the Federal government via NASA, some global warming advocates still hold on. Consider the words of Josh Willis of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) when he said the reality of climate change is not being thrown into doubt: "The sea level is still rising. We're just trying to understand the nitty-gritty details.” In other words, trust us again, we know what we are talking about even though we cannot prove it and real life numbers dispute our claim of the oceans hiding global warming effects.

But at some point in time, we can no longer trust some of these advocates. In the 1970s similar climate scientists warned we were entering a new ice age. That did not happen. Then we were warned that we were heating up the planet. But those forecasts and forecast models never came true. Now we are being warned what global warming is happening even though we cannot see it or measure it in the air, it is hiding in the oceans despite the NASA research that so far show no global warming. That’s a lot of misplaced trust over the years.

Consider what another NASA researcher said, William Llovel of NASA’s JPL: "The combination of satellite and direct temperature data gives us a glimpse of how much sea level rise is due to deep warming. The answer is -- not much."  Pardon me if I still have my doubts, Mr. Willis.

2) Recent research by Paul C. Knappenberger and Patrick J. Michael was recently published in an article entitled, “Research Erases Global Warming From Pacific Northwest.”

Details of their research include the following findings:

  •  The bottom line of their findings is that natural variability within nature accounted fro the vast majority of climate changes in the western part of the country over the past century.
  • They attributed any climate changes to “the telltale signs of natural variability,” a concept that was published in a paper titled “Atmospheric Controls on Northeast Pacific Temperature Variability and Change 1900-2012” in the Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
  •  Rather than try to explain the details of  their research and sophisticated climate modeling (which includes the inclusion of multidecadal weather and climate variability, a natural cycle we have previously discussed in this blog) let me skip to their conclusions directly: Natural variability in the atmosphere/ocean dynamics of the northern Pacific Ocean rather than human-caused global warming can largely explain the century-long rise in temperatures in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Their research and analysis covered observed climate trends from 1900–2012 via weather observing stations in the contiguous United States located west of longitude 116°W, which includes all of Washington and Oregon, most of California, and parts of Idaho and Nevada.
  • They laid out detailed maps across those states that showed the raw temperatures and those same temperatures adjusted for known climate phenomenon.
  • They found that the adjusted data showed very little, if any, global warming over the past century when ALL climate factors are considered.
More scientists doing detailed scientific work reaching the same conclusions of many other, non-Al Gore aligned scientists: global warming, if it ever existed, was just part of the ever changing climate dynamics of the earth, highly unrelated to mankind’s activities.

More science and more direct measurement results that show it is perfectly logical and sane to be a global warming/climate change doubter and a believer in science. Do we think that Al Gore and others will consider this type of science and have an adult-based discussion on the topic in the near future?

Doubtful, since that discussion might actually show that the issue of global warming and climate change is not scientifically settled, more and more research, realities, and scientists are showing that man made global warming never really did happen, and that the politicians hyping global warming are wrong. And lord forbid that a politician like Al Gore, Barack Obama and others ever admit to being wrong. They would rather crash the economy and ruin our liberties than admit they made a mistake.

We will make that even more difficult for them tomorrow when we continue the discussion on being a global warming doubter and a believer in science.

The Funnier Side of Politics and Government - The Most Inane Laws By State
