January, 2020, Part 4, Political Class Insanity: Economic Ignorance In California and Ignoring Americans' Safety Everywhere

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) The ignorance when it comes to basic economic theory and reality from American politicians is a constant source of wonder. They fail to grasp even the simplest, most common sense economic principles. They recently demonstrated this trait out in, where else, California:

California’s recently enacted law, AB5, was supposed to force companies to treat their part time/”gig” employees as full time employees.
Gig employees are usually considered short term temp employees who fulfill a specific need for a short term need for a company.
Examples of gig employees are Uber drivers, writers, consultants, truck drivers, etc.
The reasons companies use gig employees is because everyone wins: the companies get a short term need fulfilled without a long term commitment and gig employees get flexibility to work if and when the want and need.
Seems like a sweet deal for all parties involved but leave it to state politicians to screw it up.
The first casualty of this bad law was actually people that worked for a company that supported the law, Vox Media.
Vox owns a subsidiary called SB Sports Nation, and shortly after the law was enacted SB said that it would no longer hire freelance writers based in California because it did not want to pay full time benefits to part time, freelance writers as required by the new law.
According to SB: “In the early weeks and months of 2020, we will end our contracts with most contractors at California brands,” SB Nation Executive Director John Ness said in December. “This shift is part of a business and staffing strategy that we have been exploring over the past two years, but one that is also necessary in light of California’s new independent contractor law, which goes into effect January 1, 2020.”
So the good news for SB free lance writers, and probably soon to be good news to other gig workers in the state, is that you will now get better benefits for your work efforts. The bad news is you no longer will get any work efforts since companies will go to other states to get writers, truck drivers, consultants, etc.
Again, everyone was happy until the politicians messed it up.
Fortunately, sane people are fightingthis stupid law. The California Trucking Association has gotten a temporary restraining order which stops AB5 from applying to thousands of California truckers. The American Society of Journalists has asked a Federal judge for the same injunction. Local News 8 in San Diego asked a truck driver about his opinion to which he replied, “we’re out here working hard and now they want to take our money away too.”

Just another reason, besides high taxes, onerous regulations, high gas prices, wild fries, street defecation and urination, high crime, etc. for hard working taxpayers to leave the state.

2) The city of Denver has joined other liberal cities and has decided that protecting illegal immigrant criminals is a better idea than protecting the lives and property of American citizens. Thus, the city has decided to not cooperate with Federal immigration authorities and help those authorities to at least take into custody illegal immigrant criminals.

Consider the dire ramifications of just one case that this idiocy has created:

Juan Sanchez is an illegal immigrant who has been deported six different times.
He was involved in a hit and run accident where he killed a pedestrian.
Thus, he fled the scene of the crime and went into hiding.
The local authorities finally took him into custody but refuse to turn him over to the Feds to be deported.
He will likely make bail and probably flee from justice.
Oh, by the way, he has past convictions of felony crimes.
In addition to not turning over illegal immigrant criminals to the Feds. current Colorado state law prohibit local law enforcement from even providing information about immigrant criminals to the Feds such as where the criminal is hiding or living.

Just another example where the rights and lives of illegal immigration criminals are more important to American politicians than actually taxpaying real American citizens. Insanity.

3) Let’s stay with this theme that illegal immigrants are more important than the needs and safety of Americans and visit with the Biden family. Over the holidays Jill Biden, Joe Biden’s wife, decided to visit the Matamoros illegal immigrant camp in Mexico. The camp is home to migrants looking to some way, somehow get into this country illegally.

Once there, she showed her solidarity and joy with those looking to break our laws, if even just coming over the border illegally. She did not bring joy to:

The hundreds of thousands of homeless Americans over the holidays.
The millions of hungry Americans over the holidays.
The family of Corporal Ronil Singh who was murdered about a year ago by a Mexican gang member who was in this country illegally but protected by liberal cities’ sanctuary laws.
The family of El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputy Brian Ishmael who was gunned down while responding to a call concerning illegal immigrant drug dealers.

Again, liberal politicians care more about illegal immigrants than hard working, tax paying citizens, citizens that sometimes pay with their lives and always pay with their taxes.

Economic ignorance and ignoring Americans, typical political class insanity.

January, 2020, Part 3, Political Class Insanity: Elizabeth Warren's Lies, Joe Biden's Delusions, and California's Problems

Let’s get started:

1) We often have asked the question, are politicians so stupid that they believe their own lies or do they think we are too stupid to understand that they are lying? It is a question for the ages. Which brings us to the first insanity topic today, the many, many lies of Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren. She has not shied away from the big lie rather than just telling lies about her plans and programs, she kind of focused on life long lies that are really pretty easy to refute:

Her biggest and longest running lie was that she had substantial Native American heritage and ancestors in her background. She has used that lie to move to the head of the line when it came to lucrative job opportunities, helping make her a millionaire many times over. After getting a lot of doubt thrown her way on this claim when she gained national notoriety, she did a DNA test on herself and alas, found out that she indeed had very, very little Native American in her, much less than the average American.
Warren is currently a Senator from Massachusetts. She promised state voters that if re-elected she would serve out her full Senate term. A few weeks after she secured her re-election she launched her Presidential campaign which if elected, would cause her to not fulfill her vow to the state’s voters.
She wants to get rid of non-public schools in an obvious bone being thrown to public school teacher unions, lying even though her kids went to private schools and got all of the benefits of private school, benefits she would deny to millions of American families.
She lied about her father being a janitor.
She lied about getting fired from a teaching job because she was pregnant.
She lied about how she would fund the disaster known as Medicare For All.

The problem is that these are the lies that have been proven to be actual lies. How many other statements, and promises, are also lies? Nothing different here, just another American politician spouting out lie after lie.

2) As a Congressman, Senator, and a Vice President, Joe Biden has generally been an embarrassment. He has been in Washington for decades and has accomplished very little except making himself very, very rich.

And now he wants to be President and yet, he has spent the past years making a fool of himself. I found a list of his most ridiculous instance showing how unfit he is to President with video proof if you do not believe the words that follow:

Biden has shown a creep tendency to put his hands all over females regardless of how old they are, i.e. he also fondles kids. This has earned him the nickname “Creepy Uncle Joe.” Besides touching kids his most famous female touch was when he put his arms around the wife of Secretary of Defense, Ashton Carter, and then smelled her hair. He tried to feel up reporter Amie Parnes during a 2013 Christmas party and told a 10 year old girl that she was “good looking.”
But it was just not females that he had an inappropriate actions with. He also insulted minority kids with the following statement: “We have this notion that if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids!”
Biden was Vice President for eight years for Obama. One would think that he would remember those years and that assignment. But alas, he did not on at least one occasion. This past August Biden claimed that victims of the shooting at Florida’s Parkland High School “came to see me when I was Vice President.” The problem is that the shooting occurred after Trump took office when Biden was no longer Vice President. Delusional?
Maybe he really has a problem with dates. In an Iowa campaign event, he claimed that Obama had protected illegal immigrants back in 1976: “We’re going to allow families to stay together while they go through the process … We did that in 1976.” But back in 1976 Obama was 13 years old which probably makes it unlikely that Obama was not able to keep illegal immigrant families together since he was likely in seventh grade.
Biden has seemed to be confused on exactly where he is. In 2019 he confused New Hampshire with Vermont and Iowa with Ohio.
Although it did not happen in 2019, who can forget this faux history lesson Biden gave the country during the days of the Great Recession: “When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed.” But this only happened in Biden’s version of reality. In everyone else’s version of reality Herbert Hoover was President when the stock market crashed and the Great Depression hit. Oh, and TV was not a reality in 1929 America, FDR talked to the nation via radio once he actually became President.
While in the middle of a 2019 Presidential debate with a dozen other candidates, Biden spoke up that he wanted to raise taxes on people “clipping coupons in the stock market.” To this day, no one has a clue what this means...except maybe Biden.
Back in 2008, Biden criticized the Republican economic plan since that “economic plan does nothing to tackle the number one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: Jobs. J-O-B-S.”
During a 2008 campaign rally, Biden told wheelchair-bound Missouri state senator Chuck Graham to “Stand up, Chuck, let them see you! Oh, God love ya, what am I talking about?! I tell you what, you’re making everybody else stand up though, Pal.” Unfortunately, Senator Graham was mobility impaired and restricted to a wheelchair.
Back on St. Patrick’s Day 2010 Biden claimed that Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen’s “mom lived in Long Island for 10 years or so, God rest her soul. Err, although she’s, wait—your mom’s still alive!” he said. Does he not have anybody on his staff that can brief him the situations he is likely to find himself in?
Biden is not the most tech-oriented either. During a talk he encouraged people to go to his website “Joe 30330.” Unfortunately, “Joe 30330” is his text number, not his website.

And this gentleman wants to operate the greatest country in the world when he has no idea where he is, who he is talking to, who cannot count, gropes females regardless of age, and who is tech ignorant. Insane. To see him actually saying these gaffes go to:

3) Unfortunately, many of our most recent posts have highlighted how badly state politicians have screwed up the state of California. Things have gotten so bad, high taxes, crumbling infrastructure, poor public education, skyrocketing homelessness, defecation and urination in the streets, high energy prices, return of Medieval diseases, skyrocketing crime, etc. that tax paying residents and businesses have started to escape to other more civilized places to live where their families, health, and wealth are safer.

Consider the experience of a former state politician, Chuck Devore, and his observations on the state which he left behind since he too has also fled the disaster that is California:

“California’s progressive left policies are killing the state.”
“The state is dying.”
“Everything is more expensive. Their energy is more expensive, housing is more expensive.”
“If you want a blueprint of what America will look like if the left takes over, look no further than California. They have half of the nation’s unsheltered individuals in one state, in California. The place is falling apart.”
"California is failing. President Trump certainly is going to have his work cut out for him because it’s very difficult for the federal government to move alone, without the state and local governments backing them up"
"However, I know a lot of nonprofits out in California would certainly love to see a change in policy, and maybe we’re going to see that and maybe we will start to see a reduction in the homeless population. In the meantime, though, California isn’t looking good."
“I predict within two years, you're actually going to see California begin to shrink in population as people leave the state and go to other places like Texas where taxes are lower and regulation is less.”

This from someone who saw up close and personal what the California political class is doing to the once great state of California. High taxes, high regulations, and low ability to resolve issues, a deadly combination.

So, inept politicians, a clueless politician, and a chronic lying politician. God help us.

January, 2020, Part 2, Political Class Insanity: NYC School Failures, Ocasio-Cortez Idiocy and Hypocrisy and More California Stupidity

Let’s get started:

1) More and more it seems like we are talking about how certain states, Illinois, California, and New Jersey are starting into a death spiral along so many dimensions including financial and quality of life. As result, we see more and more people from those states bailing out to find better lives for themselves and their families elsewhere.

And California added to their problems with some looser law enforcement when it comes to crime in the state:

A state law passed several years ago downgraded certain crimes which made committing those crimes a low risk proposition.
The law, known as Proposition 47, downgraded theft of merchandise and drugs with a value under $950 to a simple misdemeanor., assuming if the robbers get caught.
Even worse, the police now do not even respond to these types of crimes which means that the petty criminals and not so petty criminals who keep their thefts under the $950 basically get free reign to steal at will.
As a result, stores are seeing a surge in shoplifting losses and organized crime rings have formed to steal products and resell them on a thriving black market, all without much chance of ever being arrested and prosecuted.
And it is not just stores, if someone steals something out of your car that is valued less than $950, good luck getting the police or City Hall to help you find and arrest those that stole from you.
According to a San Francisco Fox News report: “Over in the City by the Bay’s famous Tenderloin district, Cassie, a 21-year-old mother of two and a former heroin junkie, told Fox News that when times were tough, she too has stolen from stores. “If my babies need diapers or formula, who is going to get that for me? No one. I have to do it,” she said. “They ain’t out here arresting people for (shoplifting) and everyone knows it.””

Again, law abiding, tax paying citizens are not going to stand for this nonsense forever. At some point, people and businesses are going to leave the state and leave the lawlessness and financial death spiral behind. In our last post we talked about how California is losing loads of population every year, so much so that they are likely to lose a Congressional seat after this year’s Census.

California politicians have raised the level of political class insanity to all time levels.

2) America spends more on a per student basis to educate our kids but American kids always get their butts kicked when measured against the educational attainment of kids in other countries. Public education, ultimately the responsibility of politicians at the local and state level, is generally a miserable failure in this country.

Nowhere is this failure more obvious than in the New York City school system:

Based on an analysis of recent test scores, 90% of NYC schools had failed to educate their kids in English and math skills, only 10% did a decent job of educating their kids.
According to a New York Post article: “More than 140 New York City elementary and middle schools had at least one grade where more than 90 percent of kids flunked their state exams last academic year.”
23 NYC schools had at least one entire class where not a single kid passed the math or English proficiency test.
And these dismal results are attained despite the city education department having an annual budget of $24 billion, spending a whopping $17,500 per student on average.
In some of the failed schools the cost is even more outrageous, up to $30,000 spent on each kid for failing test results.
In a middle school in Harlem, 57 eighth graders took the math test and NONE of them passed.
Another city school, Ethan Allen Elementary school, had all 47 of their fifth graders also flunk the math test.
Of the 57 students at Williams T. Davis Elementary School, 57 third graders took the math and English tests: only one out of the 57 passed the math test and only three out of 57 passed the English test.
When Department of Education spokesperson Danielle Filson was asked why 90% or more of the city schools are showing the failing scores, of 142 failing schools, she optimistically stated that, “This is actually good news. Why? Because in 2017, they had more than 190 schools in that category.”
Talk about attaining a low bar of achievement, we still stink but we do not stink as much as we did last year!

Obviously there are some big root causes of failure here. Maybe it is overworked teachers. Maybe it is lousy teachers with lousy teaching abilities. Maybe it is a lack of a supportive family for these kids. Maybe it is a lousy teacher union structure that allows lousy teachers to continue to teach at low levels.

I do not know, I am not an education expert. But it seems that something is really, really wrong when $24 billion a year gets you a bunch of uneducated kids EVERY year. Or, maybe it is just a case of low performing politicians. Over the past six months the mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, has been busy: 1) running for President and 2) publicly complaining that Dominos charged $30 for a pizza on New Years Eve. Maybe if he stopped running a vanity Presidential effort and bemoaning the price of pizza for a single day out of the year he might have some time to fix the horribly broken NYC schools.

But that would require some ability, a trait that very few American politicians have these days.

3) We have tried to keep our discussion regarding Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezx to a minimum. In the beginning, her ignorance and idiocy was amusing. Over time she has become a drone of hateful rhetoric without providing any solutions.

But sometimes she says something so awful, so wrong, and so hateful that we need to address it. At a recent Bernie Sanders campaign event, she made the following three statements:

“We need to fight to start this work, the establishment of an advanced society,” Ocasio-Cortez whined, implying the United States is not advanced.
“The richest country—who cares about how much gold is being amassed if we can't realize an advanced society with those resources?”
“We're here to say that what we're living in right now is not an advanced society, a society that allows people.”

Where to start, so many idiocies in these three short statements:

- If we are not an advanced society, than what country is?

Most of those living in this country have clean running water, safe sewage systems, a top notch communications system, and public education for every kid.
Even people that live in poverty in this country likely have a color TV, a cell phone, and a car.
We have the longest running democracy in the history of mankind.
Our free market based system has created the largest and wealthiest middle class in the history of mankind.
Many, many devastating diseases have been conquered in labs across this country, giving us healthier and longer lifetimes.

- You talk about “gold being amassed” but you say these words while wearing large gold earrings and wearing an expensive designer outfit like you have done many other times with your $300 haircuts. Not quite walking the talk Congresswoman.

- ”That allows people…” to do what? What is the goal you want, what is the way to get it. Or are you just blowing hot air? In this country you can try to do just about anything you want in any career that you want in any part of the country that you want. What are you not allowed to do?

As with everything she says, she never has a solution to a problem or issue. She just bitches about something that upsets her and lashes out at anyone who has a different opinion than hers. In all her blathering she never has shown the ability to understand root causes of a problem and thus, will never provide a solution to any problem.

Oh, by the way, she went on to describe the current situation in the country as fascism. But she obviously does not have a clue to what facism is so we will give her a break on that idiocy and not dwell on this stupidity.

4) But we will close with her hypocrisy. More than once she has railed against rich people inserting their money and influence into politics. Okay, her right to complain about too much money in the country’s politics, we would probably agree with her at some level on this reality.

But if you are going to rant and rave about billionaire’s using their private wealth to support their own campaigns or promote others, you cannot accept money from those same billionaires that you are criticizing. Which is exactly what she did. According to OpenSecrets.org, she accepted a $2,700 donation from billionaire Tom Steyer for her campaign back in 2018. This is the same Tom Steyer that is spending his megabucks on his own Presidential run this year.

But her hypocrisy extends beyond her 2018 campaign and extends to a recent rant she had: “It’s called giving a damn. It’s called having standards for your conduct to not be funded by billionaires, but to be funded by the people.”

As with most politicians, do as I say, not what I do. Whether it is accepting campaign contributions from billionaires while cursing billionaires’ money or buying designer clothes and getting $300 haircuts while criticizing the country that made that wardrobe and hair style possible, the hypocrisy of American politicians has no end or integrity. Insanity.

January, 2020, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: Illinois Gets Conned, States Going Bankrupt and Bad National Priorities

Let’s get started:

1) We have often reviewed the ineptness and idiocy of Illinois politicians. They have managed to screw up the finances of a wonderful and robust state so much that they are likely to be one of the first states to declare bankruptcy and that day of reckoning may not be too far off. They keep raising taxes to try and cover both present expenses and future liabilities without reducing state expenses which results in more and more citizens and businesses leaving the state because of higher and higher taxes, reducing tax revenue, which results in state politicians raising tax rates even more and the death spiral is on.

A recent article on the Godfather Politics website reported on just another example of how stupid and incompetent the state government and the politicians who operate it are:

According to a January 2, 2020 article by Warner Todd Huston, the state government recently spent $23 million of state taxpayer wealth to buy an Abe Lincoln top hat that Lincoln supposedly wore along with other Lincoln artifacts.
For a state drowning in red ink, it would seem that this is a totally unnecessary waste of taxpayer wealth given the financial straits the state is in.
But even worse, after the purchase, it was discovered that Lincoln never wore the hat that was bought by the state in support of its “Land Of Lincoln” effort.
The hat was part of other Lincoln artifacts that was supposed to go into the state’s new Lincoln museum.
Again, when you are in dire financial straits, I do not think that building a museum is a proper use of limited and shrinking taxpayer wealth.
A woman owned a huge collection of Lincoln artifacts and told the state that she would sell the entire lot of them to the state for $9 million.
The state actually took out a loan and after expenses, interest on the loan, and the principal it cost state taxpayers $23 million to buy her collection.
The crowning piece among the artifacts was the “Abe Lincoln top hat.”
But according to the Chicago Tribune, Lincoln never owned the hat: “The prize feature of the items bought was the beaver-skin hat — which alone was appraised at $6.5 million — because the 16th president was so closely identified with that style of headwear. And it turned out the hat’s authenticity was quite disputable. It was passed down to the descendants of an Illinois farmer, William Waller, who supposedly got it as a gift from Lincoln when Waller visited Washington during the Civil War. But troubling questions arose, and last year, the foundation commissioned a study by Illinois State Historian Samuel Wheeler to find the truth. His findings were bad news. The report, obtained by WBEZ, found no evidence that Lincoln ever owned or wore the hat. It has no traces of Lincoln’s DNA; it does not appear to be his size; and, reported WBEZ, “its apocryphal Lincoln connection wasn’t even known to descendants of its original owners.” The report also faulted the foundation for its inexplicable carelessness. “It is clear that no one at (the museum) conducted any research on the object before it was acquired in 2007,” said Wheeler.”
Great, $23 million spent on museum pieces when the state is going bankrupt and the main piece is not even authentic.

No surprise that states like Illinois are going bankrupt. Wasting taxpayer money in times of financial crisis, not doing due diligence when they spent taxpayer wealth, and digging their financial hole deeper and deeper.

2) If Illinois does not go bankrupt first, it may be because a state like California beats it to the bankruptcy court. We have often talked about the hundreds of billions of dollars the state of California has in unfunded liabilities and how the state politicians are creating their own financial death spiral: as they refuse to get out of control state government under control they have to constantly raise taxes to fund their out of control spending. As they raise taxes, citizens and businesses leave the state to escape the high taxation levels. This out migration results in shrinking tax revenue streams which forces state politicians to raise taxes again which forces more people to leave and the financial death spiral is underway.

The American News Action network used those exact words, death spiral, in a recent article about how the out migration of productive, taxpayer state citizens is plunging California into a financial death spiral:

According to the most recent Census reports, no state has lost more residents in 2019 than California.
203,414 California citizens left the state last year.
In total, when you take into affect the out migration, the in migration, and birth and death rates, the state’s population grew only .35%, far below the national average.
As a result, the state is on track to lose its first Congressional seat in its 169 year history of statehood.

All of this points to the beginning of a financial death spiral since there is no sign that state politicians are in any mood to significantly reduce state government spending to align with a reasonable taxation rate. In fact, one state politician is on record blaming the out migration not on one of the worse tax burdens in the country but on a bad housing market: “Our failure to build enough housing is at the heart of CA’s challenges: It’s exploding housing costs; It’s fueling homelessness & poverty; It’s creating sprawl, increasing traffic, commutes & wildfire risk," Democrat State Sen. Scott Wiener claimed on Twitter.

I do not think so Mr. Wiener. People want to be free, it is a basic human drive, and that includes economic freedom. With sky high property taxes, onerous gas taxes, some of the highest sales and income taxes in the country, this is not a housing issue, this is a government overspending its revenue stream issue and thus, there is no chance the state politicians can resolve this death spiral since they deny the reality of the root causes of the death spiral.

3) The previous article also listed out the top five states that were losing residents to out migration in addition to California:

California: -203,414
New York: -180,649
Illinois: -104,986
New Jersey: -48,946
Massachusetts: -30,274

It just so happens that the three states we have constantly predicted would be the first states to go bankrupt are California, Illinois, and New Jersey and these are three of the top four state losing residents according to the Census Bureau. Rats fleeing a sinking ship? Certainly an aspect of a financial death spiral.

4) Back in 2016 we lamented how perverted our political processes had become with candidates in total spending billions and billions of dollars to gain office where once there, they are usually pretty useless. Our political processes have become more marketing campaigns and spend fests than adult discussions and debates about the issues facing Americans.

Unfortunately, it does not look like the political landscape will be much better in 2020:

Michael Bloomberg is a very, very rich billionaire and former mayor of New York City.
He would also like to be President.
According to Advertising Analytics, Bloomberg, has already personally spent over $155 million dollars of his own money on political advertising, a year before the Presidential election and months before any Democratic primaries.
Most of that $155 million has been spent on TV ads, $136.8 million.
According to a USA Today study, 58% of those polls have seen his TV ads, which is not bad but only 35% of those that saw the ads them found them at least somewhat convincing while 59% found them unconvincing.
Despite spending order of magnitudes more than other candidates looking for the Democratic nomination, Bloomberg polls at less than 5% and is in fifth place among Democratic candidates.

Bloomberg may eventually spend enough money to become President. But that is doubtful if $155 million only got you to fifth place and less than 5% preference levels. Thus, in our opinion, this is a vanity effort and a tremendous waste of money, money that could have been used to:

According to the Feeding America organization, on average it costs about $2.94 to provide a good meal for a homeless American.
Thus, Bloomberg’s $155 million could have provided almost 53 million meals to America’s homeless population.
The $155 million could have fed over 48,000 homeless Americans three meals a day for an entire year.
According to the Drug Abuse government website, it costs about $6,522 to treat a drug addicted American.
Thus, Bloomberg’s $155 million could have treated almost 24,000 drug addicted Americans for a year.

Look, its Bloomberg’s money, he can do whatever he wants with it. But it does illustrate how bad our priorities are in this country when billions and billions of dollars are spent on political campaigns, the results of which usually result in politicians in office who accomplish very little, while millions of Americans are homeless, hungry, and drug addicted. Bad, bad priorities.

That is enough insanity for today: a vanity Presidential run that wastes money, financial death spirals are in play in several U.S. states, and inept Illinois politicians are conned out of millions of taxpayer dollars. More insanity to follow.
