November, 2017, Part 2, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: Jerry Brown's Electric Car Fantasy and Al Gore Vs. A Real Scientist

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in manmade global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of manmade global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:
  • Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
  • Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
  • Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control of our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.
To see the past posts and the multitude of evidence that we have compiled that showed it is perfectly okay to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, enter the phrase "global warming doubter” in the search box above or go through the monthly historical posts listed on the right side of this page.

Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaims.

1) In our last post on global warming a few days ago we discussed in amazement how California governor Jerry Brown, a devoted global warming advocate, suggested rather strongly that anyone that did not agree with his view on global warming and climate change needed to be brainwashed until they did believe the myth. Of course, in that same post we discussed the reality that over 400 scientific papers have been published so far in just in 2017 that show global warming to be just that, a myth.

But apparently this overwhelming pile of science and research, which runs counter to his views, did not stop him from doubling down on his insanity. He was recently caught bragging on how his state, under his leadership, continue to pass laws that will somehow reach his ultimate goal of phasing out fossil fuel based cars in California.

Theoretically, at least in his mind, this would fix global warming since all of the states’ cars would no longer emit global warming gases, the California cars would be running on electricity that do not emit those nasty gases. But Twitter users were not fooled by his ignorance since while electric cars do not emit fossil fuel based gases, the fuels need to generate the electricity to operate those cars certainly do:
  • And what will make those vehicles “zero emission”?
  • Because electricity is generated from magic sky fairies
  • Ah, yes, the myth of "zero emissions" vehicles. I guess the electricity those cars run on is generated by millions of hamsters on wheels.
  • EXACTLY! Well, not really but that’s what many on the Left appear to believe.
  • But they're not really zero emissions vehicles.
  • Shh! You’ll ruin Brown and climate change alarmists’ talking points.
  • Fire up those coal plants boys, California is gonna need lots of electricity.
  • Jerry Brown - Still unaware how most electricity in the US is created.
  • Does #JerryBrown know about the massive environmental pollution of manufacturing and disposing of the zero emission car BATTERIES?
  • Zero-emission vehicles...Powered by electricity...Generated by coal power plants...
  • Zero emissions, my ass. Where do you think electricity comes from?
  • Powered by unicorns.
  • This is headed directly toward mandatory emission offsets when consumers refuse to purchase "zero-emission" cars.”
  • They will have to burn a lot of coal to power all those electric cars. They can't keep up now.
  • And that’s from a liberal who’s among those saying Republicans don’t “believe in science”?
  • Geez, Jerry, didn't you go to science class?
Seems there are a lot of smart people out there that understand the whole process of energy consumption in its various forms. Apparently, very few of them work for the California state government.

2) Not only did we cite over 400 research efforts in our last post that debunk the global warming myth, a recent climate scientist just went head to head with the most famous global warming advocate Al Gore, to debunk his notions and reality also. Gore and others have been all excited because of the hurricane activity this past summer which indeed was higher it had been in many, many years. [Note: I find it interesting that there is minimal hurricane activity for many years and the global warming advocates were silent, but one single summer with increased activity and they go nuts.]

But a real scientist, not a fake scientist like Al Gore, tells us that recent hurricane activity is not caused by manmade global warming:
  • Dr. Roy Spencer is a climatologist scientist at the University of Alabama.
  • He is a former NASA senior scientist for climate issues.
  • He currently spends a lot of his current time writing short e-books to prove that manmade global warming did not cause this one year increase in hurricane activity.
  • According to the Washington Times, "Spencer's research and position is that this year’s hurricanes are not “what climate change looks like” and that the storms were not caused by mankind putting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere: A former NASA senior scientist for climate studies, Mr. Spencer said that having two hurricanes make landfall on the lower 48 within one year isn’t proof of climate change."
  • Dr. Spencer also stated in the article: “There have been many years with multiple Cat 4 hurricanes in the Atlantic, but there is nothing about global warming theory that says more of those will make landfall. While the official estimate is that this was the first time two Cat 4 storms hit the U.S., since Florida was virtually unpopulated before 1900, we probably don’t really know.”
  • In fact, since 2005, no Category 3 or higher hurricane had hit the country, something that global warming advocates find quite uncomfortable relative to their theories and forecast models.
  • One of these theories is that man made global warming will make hurricanes more intense, a theory that Spenser calls ““some sort of pseudo-meteorological gobbledygook.” - “What made Harvey rain totals exceptional was the system stalled next to the coast, which was due to a very temporary weakening of atmospheric steering currents. Virtually the whole month of August was below normal in temperature over most of the U.S., not what global warming theory predicts at all.”
A real scientist vs. Al Gore, who are you going to believe? As a trained statistician, I have a favorite old saying that goes as follows: “Torture the data long enough and it will confess to anything.” Dr. Spencer reaches a similar conclusion relative to global warming advocates: “You can come up with all kinds of hurricane statistics which don’t mean much. Florida was hit by Cat 4 hurricanes four years in a row, in 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950. Then when Andrew hit in 1992, it had been 32 years since a Cat 4 hurricane had hit Florida. It doesn’t mean anything.”

It doesn’t mean anything” should be the theme to the hysteria and non-scientific approach that many global warming advocates take to the Earth’s climate. From Jerry Brown who does not understand that electricity does not magically appear at a wall socket to Al Gore who has always ignored science that does not conform to his pre formed concepts of reality, it is still perfectly sane to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science.
