Far too many times we have had to dedicate posts to the many failures of the Biden Presidency:
The disastrous and fatal withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Inflation that hit 40 year highs during his term.
Food prices that in total rose over 20% during his four year tenure.
The totally failed immigration policies that allowed millions of unvetted illegal immigrants to enter the country including criminal gang members, drug cartel members, sex traffickers, and ordinary criminals, all of whom endangered the lives and property of every American.
Losing the location of untold hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant kids that many likely ended up in the sex trade or sweatshops.
Adding trillions and trillions of dollars to the national debt with no improvement in the lives of ordinary Americans as a result of this out of control government spending.
Failure to even try to engage with Russia to end the Russian/Ukrainian war.
This is not a comprehensive list but you get the idea, a failed Presidency of epic proportions. Unfortunately the failures of his Presidency are still being uncovered, a topic we will explore for a few days going forward:
1)One of the bigger failures of the Biden years was his insistence on forcing the country to use electric vehicles, vehicles that are expensive, take a long time to charge and occasionally catch on fire without any reason. All of his electric vehicles programs were basically failures, wasting taxpayer wealth in the process as the following example illustrates:
Biden gave Canadian company Lion Electric, $159 million to produce 435 school buses for use by various school systems around the country.
Unfortunately, the company recently announced it was going into bankruptcy, taking the $159 million down the drain with it.
Thus, the company will not be able to fulfill its contract for 435 electric buses and will not be able to provide maintenance services for the small number of buses it actually delivered.
Lion Electric once had a market value of $4.7 billion but its skeletal remains were sold for only $6 million as it closed its factories (a paltry .13% of its $4.7 billion value), laid off its workforce, and told customers that it would no longer honor its warranties, debt, and orders.
Superintendent Mike Lesowich of the Homer Community School District in Michigan summed up this mess quite nicely: "All of our contacts from Lion that we worked so closely with to ensure the Superproject's success have been fired. We are going to keep our electric fleet on the roads for as long as possible. Eventually, however, we will return to diesel, as the cost of the vehicle is far less than electric."
Accordion to the think tank, resources For The Future, the average cost of an electric school bus is over $350,000 while the cost for a traditional diesel field school bus is around $100,000, making diesel school buses a much better deal for taxpayers and school districts, a consideration that Biden did not consider before losing millions of dollars on the Lion Electric failure.
Much like the Obama/Biden “Cash For Clunkers” failed program, this Lion Electric fiasco is just another example that maybe the Federal government should not be in the vehicle management business.
2)FEMA is the Federal government agency that is supposed to respond immediately and effectively when a natural disaster hits. It has usually been an inefficient and ineffective government entity through the years and the Biden years were no exception.
We have already discussed the disgusting Biden FEMA policy during hurricane season last year when FEMA workers purposely bypassed and ignored any needy American household if they had any signage on their property that supported Donald Trump. Even though those households paid their taxes like others, they were singled out for no government support just because their views were in conflict with the current President's political party.
And now another Biden FEMA misuse of taxpayer wealth has come to pass:
Recently uncovered Department of Homeland Security documents showed that rather than focus 100% of their rescue efforts on Americans in need, Biden instructed some FEMA efforts to be put to use on political issues.
FEMA was instructed to make voter registration a “key priority” during FEMA emergency deployments.
Yes, rather than focus on providing food, shelter, rescue and medical services to people who have been severely impacted by the hurricanes, and were possibly homeless and without any of their possessions, FEMA workers were diverted to not their needs but signing people up for the voter rolls.
I guess Biden thought that voters registered during the FEMA rescue efforts were more likely to associate government help with Democrats, never mind the immediate suffering of those affected by the storm, political gains were more important.
In fact, Biden’s FEMA hired outside nonprofits to train FEMA staff on “equity and voter access for individuals affected by disaster,” positioning FEMA relief operations as an opportunity for political impacts.
A Trump spokesperson, after the internal DHS documents were uncovered, summed up this despicable use of government resources quite nicely: “FEMA’s job is to make sure Americans who have suffered catastrophic loss due to some disaster in their community can access food, water and shelter… Under [former] President Biden, FEMA, like every agency, produced a plan on how they would leverage these crisis situations for political purposes. I can’t think of anything more disgusting.”
So think about this reality: a family is sitting at the curb of their property, their home behind them has been destroyed. Their possessions have washed away or been destroyed. They have no food, no dry clothes, no shelter. They may need medical treatment. And along comes FEMA with voter registration forms and priorities. The spokesperson is right, disgusting.
3)Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act was supposed to reduce inflation. However, numerous and respected economic organizations, e.g. the Congressional Budget Office and the Wharton Business School, proved that the components within the act would not reduce inflation to any great egress but would grant hundreds of billions of dollars to Democratic Party and Biden environmental efforts, the vast majority of which were highly suspect and not likely to produce anything of value.
Billions of dollars were handed out without proper vetting of the recipients, there was no overall plan tying all of these billions together in an overall and effective strategy, and there was little or no follow up on how these taxpayer dollars were being spent as the following example shows:
The Trump administration recently canceled one of these stupid projects by terminating the EPA contract with some fly by night organization called “Solar For All.”
The contract will save American taxpayers billions of dollars since the Solar For All folks had not spent very much of the original $7 billion grant despite having had access to the money for years.
In fact, Solar For All had only spent $53 million of the $7 billion, less than one percent of what had been allocated.
Thus almost $7 billion of taxpayer wealth was sitting in a bank account somewhere, not doing anyone any good.
This indicates that these folks really never had a plan for what they could accomplish but Biden still gave them $7 billion.
Let’ s do some simple math:
It looks like the average cost to outfit an average American home with an 8 kW solar system is about $25,000.
If we divide $25,000 into this misused $7 billion then approximately 280,000 American homes could have been outfitted with solar energy.
For example, if this money had been diverted to Renol Nevada or St, Louis, Missouri, every home in those cities would have been able to get a free solar energy installation for their homes, a much better, safer, and saner investment than giving it out to fly by night companies like Solar For All.
But Biden and his cronies decided that it was politically better to take care of their NGO energy partners no matter how useless and ineffective they were, wasting billions of dollars for no return and adding hundreds of billions of dollars to the national debt with no return.
Enough Biden failures for today, a list keeps getting longer and longer: wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on useless energy programs under the guise of reducing inflation, caring more about politics than rescue, and a school bus program that gets a failing grade.
