There is a lot going on in the world: Obama and Russiagate findings, Middle East powder keg, the Russian/Ukrainian war, etc. But through all this, the American political class continues to constantly deliver its own special brand of insanity, stupidity, wasteful taxpayer spending, and ineffective government programs.
1)We have discussed some really stupid and dumb things that politicians have said and done over the years:
A Georgia Congressman, during a committee hearing, suggested that if too many armed forces resources were stationed on the island of Guam, the island might tip over.
A New York Congresswoman, with a college graduate from a reputable university, boldly stated and incorrectly stated that the reason the unemployment rate was so low is that so many Americans were working at two jobs, a complete misunderstanding of high school level economics.
That same Congresswoman boldly stated once that the three branches of our government were the Presidency, the Senate, and the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court be damned.
A Texas Congresswoman, at a committee meeting, asked if the Mars Rover vehicle would be passing anywhere near where Neil Armstrong touched down on the moon.
We could go on but you get the idea: we are not dealing with some of the brightest minds in the country when it comes to many sitting members of Congress.
But a South Carolina politician may have recently topped them all when it comes to stupidity and embarrassment:
Democrat William “Mullins” McLeod, was recently named to be the state’s Democratic party’s candidate for the upcoming governor’s race and election.
However, a mere 24 hours after formally launching his election campaign, he was arrested wearing nothing but his underwear and shoes in public.
He was shouting profanities, used the N-word twice, and threatened to knock out the state’s attorney general’s teeth.
All of this was caught on video and when police arrested him he refused to give them his name, telling them the name “Superman sounds good.”
Then he refused to exit the police cruiser that he was placed in.

Look, I feel sorry for the gentleman, there seems to be much more going on regarding his mental state: dressed only in underwear and shoes, roaming the streets, shouting profanities and racial slurs, giving the police a hard time. I hope he gets the medical help he needs but really, how did the political process get so far and no one catches that this gentleman needs some help?
2)The ineptness and criminal fraud within the Federal government continues unabated, wasting billions of taxpayer dollars every year:
The FBI is looking for a Jamaican national woman, Elaine Angene Escoe, who is wanted on Federal government charges of bilking the Covid relief efforts out of a staggering $34 million.
Her actions have actually gotten her on the FBI’s Most Wanted list.
Her alleged crimes include conspiracy to commit wire fraud conspiracy to commit money laundering, wire fraud, concealment of money laundering, and transactional money laundering.
Her and her conspirators submitted over 90 false applications for financial relief from different Federal government Covid programs.
They then laundered the funds via different schemes to hide its origins and end locations.
Just another day and another criminal operation defrauding the American taxpayer. The good news is that they have identified the leader of this fraud ring and hopefully they will bring her to justice and maybe recover at least some of the money she stole. As always, the concern is that while this criminal may be brought to trial, how many other similar criminal enterprises are still stealing taxpayer money everyday?
3)Let’s stay with Covid criminal fraud and embezzlement theme:
According to an analysis by the inspector general of the Small Business Administration (SBA), that government may have shipped more than $1.3 billion worth of taxpayer money to criminals overseas.
The SBA failed to properly review foreign IP addresses that had applied for Covid funding, but were fraudulent and sent $1.3 billion in loans, grants, and advances to foreign criminals between March, 2020 and November, 2020.
Amazingly, over 233,000 foreign applications were made and the SBA okayed almost 42,000 of those applicants to receive taxpayer money.
The Inspector General concluded that international criminal organizations were involved in pilfering the funds.
While the SBA supposedly had safeguards, especially when the request came from six pre-designated countries, to always block those request, the SBA allowed almost 3,100 of those forbidden applications to not be blocked and ended up paying out over $14 million to 550 applications that never should have been paid in the first place.
The SBA approval process was supposed to have four layers of security, which obviously was a flawed process if 42,000 foreign applications got through and got funded.
You cannot make this up, a staggering amount of incompetence. All at taxpayer expense. The SBA is supposed to be supporting the creation and operation of small businesses in this country. Why they would ever consider paying out 42,000 payments to foreign people is beyond comprehension.
4)Obviously, the Covid pandemic was difficult for everyone for multiple reasons. And it may get even more difficult for one of the most controversial figures in the whole mess, Anthony Fauci:
Fauci testified many times in front of Congress and many times tangled with Senator Rand Paul.
Paul recently alleged that Fauci may have been involved with the destruction of public/government records related to the whole Covid episode.
Fauci has previously claimed that he did not destroy or was involved in the destruction of government documents.
Paul claims that his committee has uncovered records which indicate Fauci allegedly told his employees at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to destroy Federal records.
According to Paul: "The Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs is continuing to conduct its investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and risky life sciences research. During the course of its investigation, the Committee has obtained records revealing that you directed employees of the National Institutes for Health (NIH) to destroy federal records."
At a Congressional hearing on June 3, 2024, Fauci denied under oath of ever being involved in deleting records.
However, according to a Reuters report in June, 2024, a Congressional committee uncovered emails that showed government NIH employees deleted correspondence and used private email accounts to evade freedom of information laws.
For example, a Fauci email dated July 20, 2020 to an NIH employee stated that, “I do not want to engage any more with this nonsense. And so, please delete this email after you read it.”
Other uncovered emails reveal that someone was involved who knew how to delete emails and avoid Freedom of Information Act requested documents.
So who do you trust: the Senator or the government bureaucrat? Given that it appears that Paul has the documents and Fauci has been elusive and misleading in his public comments for years, for one of the rare times I will side with the politician.
Enough insanity for today: government documents may have illegally been destroyed, more fraud and taxpayer ripoffs from Covid corruption, and a South Carolina politician goes berserk.
