July, 2026, Political Class Insanity, Part 2: Biden and His Minions Illegally Spied On Congress, Yet More Taxes In California, Bad Humane Priorities In Colorado and More

We have spent a lot of our recent posts about which state or city will go bankrupt first and the massive fraud that has been going on relative to government programs. But that does not mean that the potential class has been up to its traditional incompetence, insanity,  and screw ups. So, let’s catch up with  the shenanigans that continue to plague the country:

1)Jack Smith is an attorney who was  appointed as a Special Counsel to  investigate the  potential law violations associated with the January 6th riot. Unfortunately,  while he was supposed to investigate potential law  breaking incidents, it appears that he may have violated the law himself:

  • According to  the RedState website, Smith was accused in late 2025 of  violating Congressional members' privacy rights.

  • He allegedly got their phone records without court authorized  search  warrants.

  • Senator Chuck Grassley alleged  in  July that Smith and his team of investigators violated classified document handling procedures and the privacy of  sitting members of Congress  without warrants.

  • According to Grassley:  “I received records from DOJ confirming Jack Smith's investigative team reviewed the contents of text msgs sent by 44 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS I’m 1 of the 44. I’m alerting my colleagues who were impacted and will release the records w Sen Johnson so American ppl can see the evidence.”

  • Pretty bad when the Department of Justice  decides  that justice is just a word to be ignored and not a guiding tenet.

  • Smith allegedly bypassed and/or ignored standard Department of  Justice protocols in the  spying operation, protocols that would  have prevented this abuse of power.

  • More from Grassley and Senator Ron Johnson: “Jack Smith’s criminal investigation of President Trump was a runaway train that had no brakes.”

  • Not only did Smith  possibly undermine Constitutional  rights of members  of  Congress with his spying,  but according to Senator Rand Paul he may have also  lied under oath at a Congressional hearing:  “December 2025: Jack Smith swore under oath that he didn't spy on text messages belonging to members of Congress. Today: New evidence confirms he spied on dozens of members of Congress, myself included. This is a blatant abuse of power, and exactly what our Founders warned.”

The good  news is  this  blatant abuse of government power may have consequences for those that abused  their power in the Federal government. But  in  a  sense, this abuse of  power is not surprising with  regards to  the Biden  administration.  Under Biden  and the head of Justice, Merrick Garland, anyone who had a contrasting opinion  than Biden was subjected to abusive government  power and intimidation  including pro lifers, Second Amendment defenders, Catholics, parents attending local board of education meetings, Republicans, etc.

If  even members of Congress are not safe from having their Constitutional rights and  privacy protected,  then anyone can be subjected  to  people like Smith  who  bypass  the safeguards meant to protect freedom  and abuse of that freedom.

2)One would hope that anyone in the political class and serving  the American  people  would be  of  the highest moral standards  and upholders of  the law. But a past  Florida mayor and candidate to be Florida governor  has smashed that hope like many others politicians constantly do:

  • Andrew Gillum, the former mayor of Tallahassee, Florida and defeated candidate to be  Florida governor was recently arrested in Daphne, Alabama.

  • He is charged with possession  of  dangerous drugs including  marijuana  and  drug paraphernalia.

  • Back in  2020 Gillum  overdosed on meth at a hotel in South Beach,  Florida so this is not his  first time getting entangled with drugs.

  • In 2022, Gillum was  indicted  by a  Federal grand jury on  charges of  wire fraud,  conspiracy, and making false statements, charges  that were  never  proven true in  court.

Nice, and to think this guy came very close to being  governor of  my state of Florida. Scary.

3)This next piece of insanity would fit quite nicely into our running discussion on which  state or major city government will go bankrupt first. A  major component driving  these  select states and cities to bankruptcy court  is that liberal politicians in  these  locales  constantly raise the tax burden on their  residents and businesses. Eventually, some residents and businesses flee the city or state to get tax relief.

This out migration of people and  businesses reduces the tax base and  tax revenue stream. To make up to the  smaller tax base these  same  politicians raise  taxes on those remaining to make up the difference. This in turn  sends more  residents and businesses out of the state, reducing the tax base, and the financial  spiral  is underway.

As readers of  these bankruptcy posts know, California is a prime state candidate to  go bankrupt pretty soon. With  some of the heaviest and numerous taxes in the  country, businesses and residents have been leaving the state in droves for a number of years.  Rather than try and ease  the tax burden to  reduce this out migration  of  their  tax base,  apparently these politicians have decided to  add even more taxes to the tax burden:

  • Two brand new  taxes will hit  businesses and residents of California  next year.

  • There will be a new tax on healthcare premiums  and get this, software downloads to your computer.

  • According  to  state senator Tony Strickland: “What happened to addressing the affordability crisis that was supposed to be such a priority? These tax increases could be the final straw that drives businesses out of California and harms our economy.”

  • The  increased health insurance premiums will be used  to help fund  the state’s fraud riddled Medicaid program and you can be sure those taxes on the health insurance  companies will be passed down  to consumers.

  • That  pass though of  the tax could  reach hundreds  of  dollars a month according to the California  Association  of Health Plans.

  • When a California person downloads  Turbotax or  Adobe or  any other kind of software to their computer, California will  tax them  for that action.

We have said this so many times  that “when  you are stuck in a hole, stop digging  the hole deeper.” California is in  a hole, people and  businesses  leaving because of  the high tax  burden. The most logical  thing  to do is to try and reduce the  existing  tax burden, not  add  to it.  But Californai politicians keep digging  that tax  hole deeper and keep piling  on those taxes  higher and higher.

4)Consider some Colorado  realities:

  • Almost 19,000 state citizens are  homeless.

  • About 1,700 state citizens die from  a drug overdose every year.

  • About  745,000  state citizens, including 172,500 Colorado kids, struggle with food insecurity.

  • About 27,000 state citizens are diagnosed  with cancer  every year.

There are a lot of citizens in Colorado dealing with serious problems that should be a priority of  the state’s political  class as far as addressing and reducing that suffering. But what is a priority of  some state politicians:

  • These state politicians support using millions of taxpayer  dollars for “transgender healthcare”  for  convicted  criminals.

  • Part of this healthcare budget would be using taxpayer wealth to  pay for  sex change operations for  prison  inmates.

  • According to the Washington Free Beacon,  state government  budgets over  the past three years have  included a  dedicated line item  cost line for transgender health care of prisoners.

  • The budget line was  $5.3 million in 2024  and  $5.3 million  in 2025.

Talk about bad priorities. How many homeless Colorado folks could have gotten shelter with the $10.7 million? How many hungry Colorado kids  could have been fed with the  $10.7 million? How many drug overdose  deaths could have been avoided with drug  addiction  support with that $10.7 million? How many cancer patients  could have gotten better care with that $10.7 million?

Instead, prisoners  that committed acts of aggression  against those paying  the taxes get to have their sex changed operations while in prison. Insanity.

Okay, enough foolishness for today: bad  priorities for Coloradans in  need, even more taxes in California, a Florida politician gets drug busted, and Biden  and his  lackey Jack Smith allegedly spied on members of Congress without  cause  or  warrants.
