More By The Numbers: Alleged Biden Family Graft, Continued Failure Of Defund The Police, and More

On a periodic basis we do some posts that fall under the theme of “by the numbers.” Rather than trust what the American political tells us about reality, we like to examine the real numbers and the real reality in the world to understand what is actually going on. Relying on politicians, and their cohorts in the media, to tell us what is reality is always a sucker bet. They have their own agendas and goals, usually centering around their needs and self-enrichment. So we need to look at the reality of the numbers to determine what is really going on.

Previous analyses of “by the numbers” can be accessed by entering the phrase in the search box above. This is the third and final post this month where we look at the numbers to truly find out how good, not likely, or bad, most likely, the American political class is doing in managing our tax dollars, protecting our freedoms, and resolving major issues that affect all of us.

1) Biden and other politicians on the left end of the political spectrum have been obsessed for decades about global warming and its rebranded myth, climate change. He and those like him would like to put expensive and rationing restrictions on the everyday activities of every American, hitting the least wealthy the hardest..

But even if man made climate change is real, and we would point to sceince that says it isn’t, whatever the U.S. does to reduce its so-called carbon footprint would not matter, given what other countries are doing:

  • In 2022, the Chinese installed the equivalent of 100 coal fired, carbon spewing plants in their country to increase electricity supplies.

  • This is the equivalent of about 100 gigawatts of new coal generation, an amount of coal based energy production that will continue year in and year out.

  • China already produces about 25% of the world’s climate change-related emissions, about three times what the U.S, produces and that number of 25% is likely to go up as they bring more and more coal fired plants online.

Thus, for the planet to break even carbon-wise, the U.S. would have to close 100 coal fired plants and I doubt that there are that many in existence. Thus, as countries like China and India ignore the myth of man made climate change and continue to roll out more and more coal fired plants, whatever burden Biden and others impose on Americans to fight the myth of climate change it will never be enough to overcome what the rest of the world is doing. 100 coal fired plants brought on line in a single year proves that.

2)Try to follow this money laundering scheme, courtesy of the Biden family:

  • On March 1, 2017, less than  2 months after Vice President Biden left his post in the Federal government, State Energy HK Limited, a Chinese company, wired $3 million to a company owned by someone named Rob Walker.

  • The next day, Walker’s company wired $1,065,000 to a company associated with someone named James Gilliar.

  • James Gilliar is an alleged friend and business associate of the Biden family.

  • Over the next 3 months, Biden family members allegedly received about $1,065,000 in payments sent to different bank accounts from Gilliar

  • Thus, Biden family members allegedly received about one third of the money that was originally sent from a Chinese company to Rob Walker.

  • The money went to at least four different Biden family members and what they did, if anything, to receive this money is unknown at this time.

Sounds like a classic case of money laundering and bribery if the charges are true., The numbers do  not lie.

3)Kari Lake  supposedly lost an election to be governor of the state of Arizona back in last November. However, there were a number of serious voting violations and irregularities that indicate that the fix was in to ensure that she would not win the election, e.g. the person in the Arizona state government supervising election procedures, Katie Hobbs. was her opponent for governor, a clear case of conflict of interest.

Now, a recent Rasmussen poll reinforces her claim that the election was flawed and illegal:

  •  In a poll, Rasmussen found that 52% of the respondents asserted that they voted for Lake.

  • Only 43% asserted they voted for Hobbs.

  • Similar results were found for other Republican candidates who also lost to their Democratic opponents.

  • Over 50% of those polled held a “favorable” view of Lake while only 44% held a “favorable” view of Hobbs.

Another piece of evidence that election fraud is real and likely happened in Arizona back in multiple elective office elections back in November. The numbers, if correctly sampled and answered, do not lie.

4)It seems that not only can we not trust election results, we may also not trust the mainstream press:

  • According to a recent Gallup poll, 50% of those polled disagreed that “national news organizations do not intend to mislead.”

  • Only 25% agreed that news organizations do not mislead.

  • 52% disagreed that national news organizations “care about the best interests of their readers, viewers, and listeners.”

  • Only 23% of those polled agreed with that statement.

More proof that at least in the eyes of Americans, the mainstream media cannot be trusted, a serious threat to our freedoms. America has survived bad and corrupt politicians, Nixon, Carter, Obama, etc. but it cannot survive a biased journalism industry that does not represent truth.

4) The city of Austin was one of those liberal bastions that jumped on the “defund the police” bandwagon and reduced the budget and manpower of its police force. Unfortunately, the city, and other like it such as New York City, Chicago, Portland, and others, had no backup plan to fill the void created by fewer police resources.

Besides reducing manpower of its own police forces and budgets, many of the liberal politicians in these cities also harshly and unfairly criticized their police forces, resulting lower and lower morale. All of which led to skyrocketing crime in these cities.

The numbers in Austin bear this out:

  • It has become increasingly difficult to find resources to serve in all aspects of city law enforcement.

  • The Austin Police Department recently had to pull 460 officers off of tis specialized units, SWAT , homicide, and child abuse, to fill routine patrol vacancies.“We are in a crisis right now,” said APD Assistant Chief Jerry Bauzon last summer when the department faced a deficit of more than 250 positions.

  • And get this: things have  gotten so bad that the average hold time for a 911 call on a busy night to the Austin police is a whopping 30 minutes… not 30 seconds … 30 minutes.

  • Imagine how much additional chaos, crime, and violence can happen in that 30 minute wait window.

  • Experts estimate that it will take 6 to 8 years for the department to catch up with its staffing needs that took such a dramatic hit during the defund the police frenzy.

The numbers prove again that the defund the police movement was and continues to be a disaster with fatal consequences.

5)San Francisco has been one of the worst hit defund the police cities:

  • Back in 2020 the city government stripped out a whopping $120 million out of the city’s police budget over two years.

  • Within one year, city homicides surged up 17% and property crime went up 7%.

  • In one city neighborhood, Tenderloin, violent crime was  up 161% in  one year.

  • The city has about 300 police force vacancies but has less than a dozen new officers ready for deployment.

More proof that defund the police was a great slogan and a horrible policy.

That will do it for today’s numbers and what they prove:

  • Whatever Biden and his ilk do for the myth of climate change, the carbon actions in the rest of the world will overwhelm those efforts.

  • More evidence that are elections are corrupted and frauds.

  • More evidence that we do not trust those in the journalism profession who should be protecting us from corrupt and dangerous politicians.

  • Biden’s family allegedly continues to benefit from that corruption

  • More evidence that defund the police was stupid.

Politicians may lie but the numbers do not.

December, 2021, Part 7, Political Class Insanity: Politicians Continue To NOT Protect the Lives Of Citizens, From Austin To NYC to Chicago

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) First, many politicians across the country in liberal cities decided that it was a good idea to defund and reduce the police forces in their cities. We knew right away, as did most logical and semi-smart people, that this was a stupid idea since their actions created a void of law enforcement without any process to handle the consequences of the void they created.

As a result, violent crime skyrocketed in liberal cities across the country, from LA to Chicago to NYC. But it was not only the major cities that rued the idea of defunding the police:
  • The brain dead liberal politicians in Austin, Texas defunded their police department to the tune of 30% over the past year.
  • And surprise, surprise, as they reduced their police force the homicide rate in the city rose dramatically this year.
  • There were 88 homicides in the city in 2021, beating by far the previous record of 59 that was set in 1984 and almost double the number of murders, 48, in 2020.
  • This happened after the city politicians reduced the Austin police budget by 30%, $150 million, and reallocated those funds to other social programs.
  • The almost doubling of the homicide rate is among the highest percent increase in the entire country.
  • And after a year of unnecessary violence, the Austin city politicians took the same belated action that other cities took: they raised the city’s police budget to a record $442 million and paid for three new police cadet classes.
As we forecasted in previous posts, this defunding of police movement was stupid because there was no back up plan to fill the void in law enforcement, It was like trying to design a new parachute AFTER you jumped out of the plane, without testing the design beforehand. The sad part of this scenario of events is that people died unnecessarily because of the shortsightedness of liberal politicians.

2) We have often asked the look running question: do politcians say the most outrageous things/lies because they actually believe themselves or do they lie so much and so grandly because they think we are too stupid to identify their lies when the put them forth? It is a question for the ages, as outgoing NYC mayor Bill de Blasio recently illustrated:
  • Keep in mind that New York City has experienced massive increases in violent crime within the city over the past few years.
  • Rampaging gangs have invaded stores and businesses and gotten away with untold millions of dollars in stolen merchandise.
  • A very, very liberal, and idiotic bail reform, has allowed just about any alleged criminal in the city to walk out of court without bail and without jail time, free to go back out into the city and commit more crimes.
  • And yet, de Blasio has recently proclaimed that NYC became “much safer” during his time in office.
  • During his first year in office, the city experienced 318 murders back 2013.
  • By 2020, the annual murder numbers were up to 437 and so far in 2021, the murder total is 443, more than a 30% increase from 2013.
  • Now, NYC is an exception in that some major crimes in the city are down, not because of decreasing murders, but decreases in other crimes.
  • In addition to increasing murder rates, the number of so-called hate crimes has gone from 252 to 503 in 2021.
  • NYC Police Commissioner Dermot Shea and incoming mayor, Eric Adams, both blamed de Blasio’s bail reform for the increase in murders and hate crimes.
So back to the original question: most rational people would say that if murders in a city go up over 30% in just 8 years, that city is not “much safer.” And yet politician de Blasio sees a city with a massive increase in murders as being “much safer.”You cannot makeup this insanity.

3) And while de Blaso’s NYC has seen a marked increase in homicides that are at least because of his massive defunding of the police, the epitome of cultivating violence in a city still belongs to mayor Lori Lightfoot in Chicago:
  • Way too many times we have discussed the weekly, monthly and annual increases in violent crimes and murders in Chicago.
  • And each time we pointed out that the local politicians and the mayor have no clue on how to fix the deteriorating situation.
  • Recently two criminals walked into a high end auto dealer in Chicago in the middle of the day and stole a million dollars worth of high end watches that the dealership also sold.
  • Dealership owner, Joe Perillo, was quoted in the local city news: “When I went on the news, I said enough is enough. Those two words resonated. The phone calls started ringing in my dealership. My friends, relatives, people that I didn’t know. People that could get a hold of my number and they were saying enough is enough. I never realized that it has gotten to such a boiling point and no one stepping out to say anything about it. They’re [mayor and local district attorney] probably good people. They’re probably are trying to do good for the community. But they’re doing bad for the community.”
  • He is probably right since there has been an amazing and depressing 220% increase in violent crime in downtown Chicago since 2019.
  • Perillo went on to further say: “What happened to my dealership, it’s not about me. What they don’t realize is that they’re harvesting criminals.”
  • Even fellow Democratic Chicago Alderman, Raymond Lopez, slammed Lightfoot for “refusing to acknowledge any fault” for the surge in crime.
And in the wake of all this increasing violence, what program has Lightfoot put forth to fight the violence epidemic? The city recently launched a program called “Safe Chicago” which has installed “bleeding control kits” throughout the city to help citizens treat life threatening injuries once they have become a victim of violent crime. Seriously? Thousands of people are being shot every year in Chicago and the local political class is basically stationing band aids around the city as a response. Pathetic.

That will do it for today: politicians continue to not keep their citizens safe from violent crime, from Austin to NYC to Chicago.

April, 2021,By The Numbers: Why Defunding The Police Is So Stupid - The Parachute Analogy

On a periodic basis we do some posts that fall under the theme of “by the numbers.” Rather than trust what the American political class tells us about reality, we like to examine the real numbers and the real reality in the world to understand what is actually going on.

This is where we look at the numbers to truly find out how good, not likely, or bad, most likely, the American political class is doing in managing our tax dollars, protecting our freedoms, and resolving major issues that affect all of us.

This post will focus on the crime numbers that have occurred in cities that actually thought that “defunding the police,” i.e. reducing the budget of their city police forces, was a good idea. The faulty theory of the politicians who enacted these police force reductions thought that having a gentler, softer approach to crime and violent criminals was a fantastic idea. That talking through the intentions and evil of criminal elements was actually possible if done with unarmed, trained facilitators and negotiators.

Nowhere in any of these cities was there a program that could actually be identified where moving budget resources from the police budget into these other types of sociology types of programs worked. Minneapolis, one of the first cities to defund and reduce the size of their police force, learned the hard way. Crime increased so much that city council members/politicians, actually voted to hire private, armed security guards to protect themselves. Since they defunded the police department so much they did not think the police could protect them. Never mind that the same situation they caused would leave their citizens unprotected, they made sure to take care of themselves.

But outside of Minneapolis, what have other “defund the police” cities encountered? Keep in mind as you review these numbers that a very very basic responsibility of government is to protect the lives and property of private citizens. After reviewing these numbers, ask yourself if the politicians in these cities are fulfilling this basic government tenet:

1) Homicides in Oakland, California are up 314% compared to the same time last year and firearms assaults are up 113%, quite possibly because of the millions of dollars the city politicians took from the city police department budget.

2)Murders in Minneapolis are up 46% between Dec. 11, 2020 through March 28 of this year, compared to the same period a year ago, a timeframe that saw the city politicians reduce the police budget by $9.1 million.

3) Murders have tripled in number in Portland from July, 2020 through February, 2021 after the city politicians gutted the Portland Police Department by $16 million.

4) 17 people have been killed in Portland in just the first two months of 2021, a 17 fold increase over the same period last year.

5) Murders in NYC have increased to 76 so far this year, up from 68 in the same time period last year.

6) This happened after the city politicians took $1 billion out of the police budget and assigned some of those funds to other city agencies ''best positioned to carry out the duties that have been previously assigned to the New York Police Department, like the Department of Education, the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene and the Department of Homeless Services." Obviously, moving the money to those agencies did NOT reduce the number of murders and increases in other NYC violent crime categories.

7) Los Angeles saw a 38% increase in murders in 2020 and a 28% increase in murders so far in 2021 after the city’s politicians took $150 million out of the city police force budget back in July.

8) In Austin, Texas, aggravated assaults in the city are up 26% vs. the same period in 2020, quite possibly because the city politicians lopped off a whopping one third of the annual police force budget.

Just the latest insanity from city politicians when it comes to the insane logic that cutting police budgets, without a proven replacement can actually reduce crime. Consider the idiocy and complete lack of logic from Austin council member Gregorio Casar: ''We are showing the country how reinvestments from the police budget can actually make many people’s lives so much better and safer. This will build momentum for changes to police budgets across the country.''

Mr. Casar: how your voters’ lives “so much better and safer" when aggravated assault in your city is up 26% in one year? Makes no sense. The numbers do not lie but as always, politicians do. Until there is a proven way to reduce crime and violence without always having the police intervene, why not lay low and actually protect the lives and property of citizens, a basic responsibility that big city mayors are failing miserably at?

Simple analogy: jumping out of an airplane, assuming that you can make a better parachute on the way down to Earth is not real wise. Would it not be better to build and test the parachute BEFORE jumping out of the plane? Wouldn't it be better, and safer, to test non-police crime intervention approaches before gutting your police force and unleashing violence on your citizens?
