February, 2021, Part 7, Political Class Insanity: Cuomo's Hidden Secret, A New Senator Already Being Investigated, and Biden Is The One Who Falls Short

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) Of all the politicians and government bureaucrats who screwed up when it came to the covid pandemic, probably no one screwed up more than the governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo. Early on he pooh-poohed the idea that the virus was anything more serious than the ordinary flu. He was late to realize the seriousness of the problem. He pleaded for more hospital beds which resulted in Trump sending a Navy medical ship to NYC and the conversion of a huge convention center into an emergency hospital, neither of which Cuomo used despite overcrowding at hospitals in NYC and the state.

But his most wrong and most fatal decision was to force state nursing homes to accept covid patients into their buildings, exposing the most vulnerable people in the country, elderly citizens, to the virus. As a result, New York led the country in nursing home deaths because of his idiocy and mistake.

And as we touched on briefly in a previous post, the deaths he inflicted on nursing home residents was worse than he admitted to:

• Two weeks ago, the Attorney general of New York released a report that cloaked the actual death toll from the virus in New York state’s nursing homes were severely under counted.
• A sample analysis of a set of state nursing homes estimated that the death toll was about 50% higher than what Cuomo and the state government reported.
• As people looked deeper into the data, that 50% number now appears to be closer to 62% according to a National Review article.
• But matters recently got even worse as one of Cuomo’s top aides, Melissa DeRosa has admitted that in a call to state Democratic lawmakers she admitted that the Cumo administration had knowingly and blatantly hid the real death figures for political reasons.
• On a recording DeRosa explains that if the true numbers got out, it would bring political heat to Cuomo: “Right around the same time, [then-President Trump] turns this into a giant political football... [Trump] starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes. He starts going after [Democratic New Jersey governor Phil] Murphy, starts going after [Democratic California governor Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Democratic Michigan governor] Gretchen Whitmer... [and maybe he even] directs the Department of Justice to do an investigation into us. And basically, we froze.”
• In other words, instead of being honest and forthright for the families whose elderly relatives suffered because of Cuomo’s boneheaded decision, let’s make sure we maintain political air cover.
• The article summarizes nicely what has happened over the past year: “To recap, as of last month Cuomo acknowledged only that 8,711 nursing-home residents died of COVID. After James’s report, which confirmed suspicions that Cuomo wasn’t counting the many nursing-home residents who were taken to hospitals and then died there, the official tally rose to 12,743. This week, that number jumped to 14,100, according to figures uncovered by Freedom of Information Law requests by the Empire Center for Public Policy that include confirmed and presumed COVID fatalities for nursing-home clients, whether those deaths took place within those homes or off-site. That’s 5,389 deaths linked to nursing homes that Cuomo hid — double New York’s death toll from 9/11.”
• As a result of Cuomo’s failed leadership, New York has the second highest covid death rate in the country per million people, 2,330, second only to New Jersey’s failure rate at 2,510.
• As a comparison, Belgium has the highest death rate of any other country at 1,867, which means Cuomo’s record is 24% worse than the worst country’s rate.
• But this should be no surprise since on March 6, 2020 Cuomo said relative to the covid virus, “the overall risk level . . . remains low.”

What a disgrace. He underestimated the impact of the virus, he bungled the handling of the crisis, he probably sent people to their death with his insane nursing home action, and then he tried to make sure the world never found out the true number of people that had died because of his actions. Ineptness, lying, and politicizing a crisis, sound about right for an American politician.

2) The new Georgia Democratic Senator from Georgia, Raphael Warnock, who just elected a month or so ago, wasted no time getting himself involved with a criminal investigation of his actions:

• The Georgia State Election Board has launched a criminal investigation into the possibility that Warnock has violated Georgia election laws.
• The investigation centers on Warnock’s role as the chairman of the New Georgia Project (NGP), a voter registration organization.
• The Board decision to start the investigation was unanimous, indicating that there may be something to the suspicions since Democratic members of the Board did not try to block the effort.
• Apparently, under Warnock the organization failed to follow election deadlines and submitted 1,268 voter registration forms ten days after the deadline.

He is obviously innocent until proven guilty but it did not take long for the new Senator to find himself under suspicion. Usually takes Washington politicians a little longer to get into such a morass.

3) The owner of the Dallas Mavericks NBA team recently decided to not play the national anthem before home games this season. Obviously, as the team owner he has that right even though it is another empty gesture of self loathing that makes no one in society better off because of his actions.

When Biden’s press secretary was asked for Biden's opinion on Cuban’s actions she put forth the following statement: “[Biden] has great respect for the anthem. He’d also say that pride in our country means recognizing the moments when we as a country haven’t lived up to our highest ideals.”

This coming from a politician who has been involved in Washington politics for almost fifty years, in other words, he is a major factor when our country did not live up to our highest ideals. As we have pointed out in the past, Biden has not lived up to anyone’s ideals, having been a sexual predator any number of times, having issued racist comments any number of times, and lied about his own personal history any number of times. A predator, racist, and liar, it seems Joe has often been very short of our “highest ideals.”

That will do it for today’s insanity: Biden doesn't realize he is a main factor in the country's shortcomings, a Georgia Senator gets off to a shaky start, and Cuomo continues to fall short on performance and integrity.

February, 2021, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: Cuomo Screws Up Everything He Touches, Biden Would Rather Let Americans Go Hungry, and Canada Is Politically Insane Also

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) There are a lot of inept governors out there today but quite possibly the worst of all is New York’s Andrew Cuomo. Residents are fleeing his state because of higher and higher taxes and crime rates, he is facing a major budget shortfall, the state has been so bad in setting up covid vaccination plans that vaccines are expiring before they can be administered, and he blames everyone else for his failures.

But probably his worst failure and most fatal was when he forced nursing homes to accept covid patients back into their facilities without providing the support to segregate these infected folks from healthy elderly folks. As a result, covid ripped through state nursing homes and killed thousands of nursing home residents and staff. He forced this situation even though there were severely underutilized medical facilities where covid patients could have been cared for, away from healthy vulnerable people, e.g. the Jacob Javits Center in NYC that was converted into a medical location but hardly used, a U.S. Navy ship that Trump had sent to NYC, etc.

And now it appears that even more people died as a result of his ill fated decision to co-mingle covid folks with healthy folks in state nursing homes:

• The state attorney general recently completed a report that indicates that far more New York nursing home residents died from the virus than previously thought.
• Attorney General, Letitia James, estimates that the undercounting could be as high as 50% based on her analysis of discrepancies between the number of deaths reported by the state Department of Health and the number of deaths reported by the actual nursing homes.
• According to state Representative Elise Srefanik: “This is now more than a nursing home scandal, this is a massive corruption and coverup scandal at the highest level of New York State Government implicating the Governor, the Secretary to the Governor, the New York State Health Commissioner and the Governor’s staff. Every New Yorker deserves transparency, accountability and answers regarding the orchestration of this illegal coverup.”
• In a sample of 62 nursing homes, the homes reported covid deaths of 1,914 while the state only reported 1,229 deaths in those 62 nursing homes.
• This sample then represents a 56% under reporting of covid deaths.
• Apparently the state decided that if you got sick in a nursing home because of Cuomo’s policy but eventually died in a hospital from covid then that nursing home death did not count.
• The current Cuomo estimate of nursing home deaths is just over 8,700 but if the Attorney General is right, the truer number is over 13,000.
• This analysis is consistent with a previous Associated Press report which put the under counting at 65%.

Such incompetence that had unnecessary fatal consequences for thousands of New Yorkers. And that incompetence continues today, with the state having to throw out about 40% of the vaccine supply it received because the Cuomo administration did not have the ability or find the time to put in place an efficient and effective vaccine dispersal process. 

These people knew that at some point in time they would need a vaccine process and for ten months since the beginning of the pandemic they apparently did little to make that process a reality. As a result, the delay in vaccinating New Yorkers is likely causing even more unnecessary deaths due to political incompetence.

2) But at least in Cuomo’s eyes, none of this is his fault, it is always the fault of others, as seen by his latest cry baby tantrum:

• Cuomo recently threatened the Biden administration unless he gets them to fork over $15 billion of Federal tax money to cover up his inability to operate within a budget.
• In a childish tantrum, he said if he does not get what he wants, he will bring a lawsuit.
• He claims, without any proof, that New York is “unique in the nation” in the amount of economic damage the pandemic caused.
• Specifically: “The COVID assault on New York was caused by federal negligence. And, second, New York was used as a political piñata.”
• If he does not get his way and the $15 billion, he will enact tax hikes on New York residents to close the budget gap.
• Since New York usually leads the nation in people moving out of the state, this is like shooting yourself in the foot: higher taxes will drive more people out of the state which will further reduce the tax base and tax revenue stream which will require higher taxes and the financial death spiral is on.

But the Wall Street Journal reported that Cuomo was facing a $6.1 billion budget gap before the pandemic even hit so to claim that New York is “special” is ridiculous. He has a budget problem because he spends too much money for the revenue stream, and the high taxes that the state endures. Rather than fix what is wrong he stomps his feet like a two year old, trying to stick the rest of us with his ineptness.

3) We have reported how many millions of Americans are in need in this country today:

• At any one time there are likely 500,000 to 600,000 homeless Americans living on the streets of the country.
• Millions of Americans are at risk at any time of not having enough money for enough food.
• Millions of Americans are drug addicted and in need of treatment.
• Millions of Americans are in need of the covid vaccine and their health hangs in the balance until there are enough vaccines available….and inept politicians like Cuomo do not allow them to go to waste.

Yes, a lot of Americans are suffering but what does Joe Biden think is a good use of taxpayer money that avoids addressing the needs of these Americans:

• He recently signed an order that rescinded a regulation that forbid U.S. taxpayer dollars from being used to perform abortions overseas.
• At the same time he is committing additional taxpayer dollars to fund the “United Nations Population Fund,” an organization to control population growth.
• He tried to justify his decision with the following nonsensical and convoluted reasoning:“These excessive conditions on foreign and development assistance undermine the United States’ efforts to advance gender equality globally by restricting our ability to support women’s health and programs that prevent and respond to gender-based violence. The expansion of the policy has also affected all other areas of global health assistance, limiting the United States’ ability to work with local partners around the world and inhibiting their efforts to confront serious health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, among others. Such restrictions on global health assistance are particularly harmful in light of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.”
• So in his mind somehow funding abortions overseas fights malaria, HIV, tubercolosis, etc. which is ridiculous.
• The last year that the U.S. funded that United Nations fund it cost the American taxpayer $69 million.

We have previously discussed the reality that on average, charities across the country spend about $2.94 per meal that they provide for homeless Americans. If that $69 million had been used to help those in need in this country, that $69 million of foreign abortion money could have been used to give 42 meals to every homeless American living on our streets today. That would have been the humanitarian thing to do.

4) To prove political class insanity exists outside of the U.S. also, consider this stupidity up in Manitoba, Canada:

• Obviously, Canada has also been hit hard by the covid pandemic.
• As a result they have put a moratorium on many mass gatherings like sports games, restaurants, and church services.
• In fact, at one point in time, they had forbidden any church services from being held unless they were strictly done online.
• One church decided it was going to broadcast its services over the radio while parishioners sat in their cars in the parking lot of the church, not mingling with anyone else, just them and possibly their family secluded and safely enclosed in their vehicles while they listened to the service.
• Sounds like a rational, unique, and certainly safe way to enjoy a religious ceremony even if it was not online.
• Well, without anything better to do, the local authorities broke up the gathering, actually fining a parishioner over $1,000 for daring to participate in this safe and secure religious ceremony.

Nobody was put in danger, nobody was spreading the virus, nobody was acting irrationally or violently, just some church worshippers looking for a different religious experience than sitting at home looking at their computer screen. And yet, taxpayer funding and resources were used to shut down what was a perfectly safe endeavor. 

In the meantime, governors, mayors and other political “leaders” are going to parties without masks, going on vacation, walking around maskless in public and nothing happens to them. But some poor church going guy in Canada gets hit with a $1,000 fine for doing nothing nearly as bad as politicians who flaunt their own rules.

Okay, that will do it for today's insanity review: Pandemic insanity in Canada, Biden’s double talk and wasting of American taxpayer dollars while Americans go hungry, and Cuomo continues to screw up everything he touches.

August, Part 10, Political Class In Insanity: Fudging The Coronavirus Numbers, Miscounting the Coroanvirus Numbers and Making Money Off Of Fake Coronavirus Numbers

Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

1) It's no secret that Bill de Blasio, the mayor of NYC, and Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, handled the whole coronavirus crisis in the most inept and dangerous way possible. Their incompetence caused the city and state to be the worst locations from a virus perspective relative to the number of cases and number of deaths of anywhere else in the country.

One of the most fatal and dangerous decisions that Cuomo made was to force nursing homes and long term care facilities in the state to take in and house suspected or real elderly coronavirus patients. This mixing of virus patients with elderly healthy patients likely caused a significant increase in the number of confirmed virus cases and deaths.

The state led the country in nursing home deaths attributed to the virus but according to an Associated Press report, the situation is worse than Cuomo and his statistic show:

• Apparently, Cuomo and the state government health resources people fudged the number of nursing home deaths that occurred after he declared that long term care facilities and nursing homes had to take potential and real coronavirus patients.
• You see, he made sure that the number of nursing homes deaths that were caused by the virus only included those people who physically died in the nursing homes or long term care centers.
• If a nursing home patient came down with the virus when residing in a nursing home but died after being shipped out to a hospital when they became sick, the death was incorrectly not counted as a nursing home death.
• So if someone got infected because they were in a nursing home and that nursing home was forced to bring in sick patients, Cuomo’s counting method ignored them if they eventually died in a hospital regardless of where they got infected.
• New York apparently was the only state that counted this way.
• For example, New York’s official virus deaths for the Riverdale Nursing home is listed at 4 deaths of that facility’s residents.
• In reality 21 people died as a result of being in that nursing home, 4 on site and 17 who were transferred to a hospital after they became sick.
• Thus, there are about 6,600 New Yorkers who “officially” died in the state’s long term care and nursing homes, in reality the death toll, because of his idiocy of forcing sick people into nursing homes, is likely much higher, making his atrocious decisions even more despicable.
• As an add on, apparently his bogus counting method was also in violation of Federal law.

Another reason to not believe the virus numbers in any which way possible since politicians manipulated the numbers, either intentionally or because of incompetence. And another reason to not trust anything a politician ever says at first blush, they are always more interested in protecting their political careers than the truth and the safety of their citizens.

2) So, while Cuomo was fudging numbers to make his bad decisions not look as bad as they actually were, down in North Carolina, in another strike against the validity of the virus statistics accuracy, North Carolina had a different counting problem:

• North Carolina officials recently announced that they had been counting their coronavirus cases wrong.
• Apparently their inability to count accurately overstated the number of virus cases in the state by a whopping 200,000.
• They caused this mishap a “counting error” and blamed it on the lab that did the tests.
• The state blamed LabCorp Diagnostics for giving the state two different daily test count numbers.
• According to Mandy Cohen of the state's Department of Health: “The positive cases are reported electronically. Those continue to be accurate. The number that we are correcting today is just the total cumulative lab tests. Our team found this as we were doing process improvement. I certainly wish we would’ve done that process improvement earlier, right? And then we would’ve caught this earlier. I think we own that in not catching this as soon as we could. Certainly LabCorp owns some of this for sending us the wrong data, but we own some of it for not catching it on our end.”
• LabCorp acknowledged their screw up and confessed that the North Carolina numbers they gave the state included virus testing results that occurred in other states.

Just another reason not to believe anything or anyone in any form of government is telling us about the virus, these people do not know how to count and every day it seems we are faced with some state official confessing that numbers are wrong, too high, too low, purposely fudged (in the case of New York), etc. Such incompetence.

3) Looks like it is going to be a coronavirus day in total. Consider these finding regarding virus counting from the United Patriots News website:

• Michael Thau, writing for the Red State website has looked at and analyzed a lot of virus data from across the country.
• After looking at the counting processes that vary everywhere relative to the virus and the reports and stats these processes produce, he has concluded there are three reasons why the virus data is grossly overcounted.
• The first factor relative to over counting the virus’s effects is people who tested positive for the virus and who then passed away were classified as dying because they had the virus, not because they died of cancer, for example, and just happened to have the virus which had nothing to do with their cancer death.
• Somehow, this was the official Federal government way of counting as put forth by Dr. Deborah Brix in April.
• Dr. Brix was a critical member of Trump’s virus task force back at the beginning of all of this. 
• Thus, people who died for non-virus reasons were classified as virus deaths if they tested positive for the virus, i.e.they had the virus but the virus did not kill them.
• The second overcount factor was the reality that the CDC told doctors to issue death certificates that the virus was the cause of the death even if the cause of death is uncertain, i.e. the virus got credit in all cases where the cause of death was unknown.
• And the final factor, and this one should tick off every taxpayer, the government system for reimbursing hospitals for patient care relative to the virus gave more Medicare money to the hospital if the patient was classified as having the virus.
• Thus, the virus probably became an enhanced revenue source for hospitals once it was known that Medicare would pay more for treatment if the patient was classified as a coronavirus person even if they were not infected with the virus.
• Obviously, Medicare is funded with taxpayer money and Medicare was very generous with that money relative to reimbursing hospitals.

Thus, there is a very good case to be made that the number of deaths and the number of people who tested positive for the virus is highly inflated. Bad instructions from the Federal government on how and who to count, perverted financial incentives that made it attractive for hospitals to falsely classify non-virus patients as virus patients, bad lab testing and just plain bad, inept counting practices, the list goes on and on. 

All because of government and political incompetence and greed. There is a very good chance that we shut down the economy and threw millions of people onto the unemployment line because Washington, state houses, hospitals, and nursing homes did not know how to count or counted with other, personal motives and greed in mind. What a disaster for the country and those that suffered the brunt of possibly an unnecessary shutdown.

August, 2020, Part 3, Political Class Insanity: Failing Miserably To Carrying Out a Basic Government Function - Protecting lives

Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

1) Unfortunately, we have had way too any discussion on how Chicago politicians have been utterly unable to reduce the violence that permeates the streets of Chicago. For many years, Chicago has led the country in the number of murders and violent crime. 

Even more unfortunate, the situation seems to be getting far worse as the city’s politicians get more and more ineffective and delusional when it comes to protecting the lives and property of the city’s residents, a failure relative to a basic function of government:

• According to the Daily Caller, in July of this year there were 105 murders in the city of Chicago, more than three a day.
• This was a whopping 139% increase over the number of murders in July, 2019.
• There were 406 shootings in the city last month, a 75% increase over the number of shootings in July, 2019.
• The city police have launched a new task force to address this violence but whether the city’s politicians will support their effort or will continue the Insane “defund the police” movement is still to be determined.

My bet is that there will be no short term decrease in this outrageous level of violence since the same politicians that have allowed the violence to grow unchecked will not have the brains or courage to implement changes that will resolve the sad situation. And in the face of this violence, the mayor refuses to accept help from the Trump administration, an ego problem that is fatal for so many city residents.

In fact, the mayor of Chicago is so delusional that she thinks that Trump is offering Federal government help to clean up the violence because he is sexist: “The president has been on a campaign now for some time against Democratic mayors across the country. Whether it’s me, whether it’s Keisha Lance Bottoms in Atlanta, whether it’s Muriel Bowser in Washington, D.C., whether it’s Jenny Durkan in Seattle – do you see a common theme here?”

Wrong conclusion mayor: he is offering these cities help not because of woman mayors but because these cities are facing unprecedented violence and crime increases. That is the common theme. And this idiocy is why she is refusing help to save her residents’ lives. 

A basic function of government is to protect the lives and property of citizens. This is not happening in Chicago and a lot of that failure is at the feet of a clueless, ego driven mayor who is more interested in playing politics than doing her job.

2) Minneapolis has been the location of really bad and violent rioting as a result of the horrific George Floyd murder. This has led an already clueless political class and government officials to call for the defunding of the city's police force and replace it with an unknown successor. 

This hatred and defunding of the city’s police force as resulted in disrespecting the concept of law and order within the city:

• According to the Minneapolis Police Department, there have been 2,170 stolen vehicles in the city through July 26 of this year.
• This is up 45% increase over the same period last year when there were 1,485 thefts.
• There were 886 robberies through July 26, a 36% increase over the same period last year.
• Keep in mind that the city politicians that have created this policing void in the city have hired private armed security guards to protect themselves while ordinary city residents are subjected to massive increases in violent crime.
• According to a local area Facebook community page that is moderated by Steve Taylor: “What we’re hearing again and again is people don’t want less public safety, they want better public safety. When the City Council has their own armed security and community members are being robbed at gunpoint often in broad daylight, that just seems unfair.”
• In the city’s south side, robberies are up 100% and car thefts are up 67%.
• Steve Taylor expresses the wishes of ordinary citizens that check in on his Facebook page with the following general reaction of city residents: “I think we need more police. Of course we need reformed police and better police that police all of Minneapolis equally, keep everyone equally safe from violent criminals.”

Another city where the local politicians have no clue to carry out that basic government function: protecting the lives and property of residents.

3) Unfortunately, getting their constituents killed is not confined to allowing lawlessness to run rampant through city streets. As everyone knows, the coronavirus crisis has upended everyone’s life over the past half year. People have gotten sick, lost their jobs and wages, and unfortunately, many have died as a result of the virus. 

But according to Michael Brigham, writing for the American Action News website, a lot of elderly American unnecessarily died because of ignorant and stupid virus decisions by four state governors. 

Keep in mind that while over 150,000 Americans have supposedly died because of the virus, more than 45% of those deaths (over 70,000) have happened to people who lived in long term care/nursing home facilities even though the number of elderly Americans living in those facilities is only .6% of all Americans.

- New York

• Andrew Cuomo, governor of New York state, is probably the biggest culprit when it comes to unnecessary virus deaths in nursing homes.
• On March 25 he ordered all New York nursing homes to accept residents into those nursing homes after they had been discharged from hospitals regardless of their virus health status.
• Specifically: “No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the [nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19.”
• So, nursing homes had to accept residents into their facilities regardless if those residents had the virus or were suspected of having the virus.
• As a result, the state’s long term care and nursing homes suffered 6,588 confirmed and suspected virus deaths, a number that was 20% of the state’s entire virus fatality total.

- California

• Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, was no better than Cuomo when it came to having no common sense relative to long term care/nursing homes in the middle of the virus crisis.
• Newsom put forth a memo that dictated that long term care facilities must readmit residents even if they had suspected or confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
• As a result of this idiocy, that state’ long term care/nursing homes were the site of at least 2,775 virus deaths, a whopping 30% of the entire state’s virus death totals so far.

- Pennsylvania

• On March 18, the state government in Pennsylvania issued instructions on how long term care and nursing homes should behave during the virus crisis.
• The instructions required that long term care facilities and nursing homes must accept both new admissions and re-admissions for current residents who came down with the virus in order to take some pressure off of hospitals ICUs who were overwhelmed by the number of virus cases.
• Thus, the states’ governor and health officials purposely mixed in known virus sufferers with high risk elderly populations.
• This resulted in Pennsylvania’s long term care and nursing home locations generating at least 4,708 virus deaths, an astounding 65% of the state’s entire virus death total.

- New Jersey

• The New Jersey state government did the same stupid thing as the other three states according to the following official decree: “No patient/resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the post-acute care setting solely based on a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19. Persons under investigation for COVID-19 who have undergone testing in the hospital shall not be discharged until results are available. Post-acute care facilities are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized patient/resident who is determined medical stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or re-admission.”
• As a result of this policy, at least 6,608 New Jersey residents died in long term care and nursing home locations which is over 40% of the entire state’s virus death total.

Unreal. Political and government decisions made that were hasty, ignorant and apparently not immediately changed even after the virus carnage was observed when mixing virus infected residents of long term care facilities and nursing homes with virus free elderly residents.

Conclusion: never underestimate the power and incompetence of American politicians to place Americans in harm’s way, whether it is allowing criminals, murderers, and arsonists to run amok in cities across the country or confining healthy people with virus infected people, increasing the chance of death of both groups significantly.

As always, a basic, basic, primary function of any level of government is to protect the lives, well being and property of their constituents. In at least the four states and two cities listed above, the politicians running those government entities have failed miserably.

July, 2020, Part 9,Political Class Insanity: How Government Cannot Count When It Comes To The Coronavirus, Chapter 2

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) Today we will still be focusing on the coronavirus. Not because it has sickened and killed so many people around the world but because it illustrates the pure incompetence of government and the politicians that operate that government and their inability to simply be able to count effectively. You cannot solve a problem unless you understand the reality of the problem and almost always the reality of a problem is determined by the data and numbers that describe the problem. 

But if you cannot even collect that data and numbers correctly then your ability to solve a problem is almost nil. You are basing any solutions on faulty data and premises and only pure luck will ever get you to the right solution, as we pointed out in our previous post:

• A man in Tennessee was classified as a positively tested coronavirus person even though he had NEVER taken a coronavirus test.
• Multiple virus testing labs in Florida were found to have over counted the number of virus cases by up to ten fold.
• In Colorado, a man was classified as a virus death even though subsequent medical analysis showed he clearly died from acute alcohol poisoning, not the virus.
• We also cited other cases in Colorado where nursing home patients were classified as virus deaths but more testing showed that the virus had nothing to do with their deaths.

But it is not just state government and state politicians who cannot accurately count the actual number of virus deaths, that inability to accurately count may have been established by the Federal government back in the spring:

• Dr. Deborah Birx is the response coordinator for the White House coronavirus task force so she is a very important person in the fight against the virus in the country.
• But back in April, she stated that the Federal government was going to classify the death of any American who had the virus as a death caused by the virus regardless of any underlying, pre-existing medical condition that may have actually been the cause of the death.
• So, if I understand the good doctor correctly, if someone had stage four liver cancer and contracted the virus in the final days of their lives after a losing battle against the liver cancer, the Federal government somehow decided to classify that as a death caused by the virus.
• I think her words verify my conclusion and example: “There are other countries that if you had a pre-existing condition, and let’s say the virus caused you to go to the ICU [intensive care unit] and then have a heart or kidney problem, some countries are recording that as a heart issue or a kidney issue and not a COVID-19 death."

It seems other countries got their logic and counting right: just because someone who died had the virus, doesn't mean that the virus killed them. But for some godforsaken reason, in this country the Federal government says that anyone who dies who has the virus is to be counted as a virus victim, not a cancer, kidney, or other malady victim. 

As a result, we may have a significant over count of the number of deaths in this country caused by the virus which resulted in drastic economic pain and suffering which may not have been necessary because the Federal government did not know how to count. Insanity.

2) This inability to count is finally showing up in opinion polls as Americans begin to doubt what all levels of government are telling them about the virus:

• An Axios/Ipsos poll recently asked a sample of Americans the following question: “Do you believe the actual number of Americans dying from the coronavirus is more, less, or about the same as the number of deaths that have been reported?”
• The poll found that about one out three of those polled think the actual virus death toll is lower than what is being reported.
• 31% of those polled said the death toll from the virus is less, 31% said it is about what is reported and 37% said it is more than what is being reported.
• So in round figures about one third say it is under reported, one third say it is over reported and one third say it is correctly reported, you cannot be much more divided as a nation than that.
• Republicans are much more doubtful of the reported results with 58% of those polled thinking the death toll reported is too high and only 16% saying it is higher than what is reported. 
• Democrats go the other way with 61% saying the reported death rates are too low and only 9% believing that the death toll is lower than what is being reported.
• Again, you cannot be much more divided than that.

The more troubling aspect from the total responses is that those who think the death toll is less has gone up eight percentage points from the poll conducted just two months which would indicate there is growing doubt that the death rate is that high.

Again, if we cannot agree on the numbers and the true scope of the issue, then it is doubtful we will agree on a proposed remedy. All because government and politicians cannot even count.

3) In addition to the state by state cases we have talked about and their serious counting flaws, it turns out that there may be a more basic problem with the whole testing process across the country:

• Department of Health scientists in Connecticut found that a virus test being used widely across the country is causing false positives, i.e. the test results are saying that a tested person has the virus when they really do not.
• The test is made and distributed by Thermo Fisher Scientific.
• In Connecticut they found that out of 144 positive virus tests they looked at between July 15 and July 17, 90 of the 144 were really false positives, a totally unacceptable rate for a medical test of any sort.
• The saddest part of this failure is that patients who were falsely thought to have the virus in nursing homes may have been moved into areas of residents who actually had the virus which means that healthy nursing home patients were unnecessarily and possibly fatally exposed to the virus for no good reason because of the faulty test.

So, bad testing procedures, bad counting procedures, and growing doubt that anyone in the government or politics has a clue to what is really going on. Lord help us, please save us from the “experts” who apparently have no clue themselves.
