May, 2020, Part 14, Political Class Insanity: More Biden Gibberish, More Whitmore Idiocy, Bad Fatal Priorities In Chicago, and Jackson Lee Denies Reality

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) Unfortunately, lately we've had to discuss the ongoing gaffe machine known as Joe Biden. We actually feel sorry for Mr.Biden. He is obviously in cognitive decline since he forgets dates, he forgets where he is, his statements are babbling and nonsensical. He needs treatment and rest and not be put under the strain of running for President. It is, in our opinion, a form of elder abuse.

But nevertheless, if he continues to spout gibberish, then we will continue to point out how he is so unqualified to be President:

• He was recently involved in a live stream discussion with the governor of Pennsylvania.
• Despite being an educated man and a long term politician he seems to not have a grasp of basic historical facts, specifically: “We declared our independence on December the 7th, by the way, you know, and it’s not just D-Day.”
• December 7th was the day Pearl Harbor was attacked, D-Day was on June 6, and if he was referring to his home state’s, Delaware, independence day, that was on June 15.

Ignorant of three major dates in our country’s history, all wrong. No way he can serve as President in his current mental state.

2) Gretchen Whitmer is the governor of Michigan. We have recently discussed the many problems she was having governing her state during the pandemic, basically because of the sutpid rules and guidelines she put in place, guidelines and rules we discussed extensively over the past few weeks. From a stay at home perspective, her rules have probably been some of the most restrictive and oppressive in the country and residents were chafing under the rules and thus, demonstrating for more freedom.

This was followed up by the nerve and gall of her husband asking his marina to put his boat in the water for a Memorial Day boat ride. This was a classic case of a politician’s old creed, “do as I say, not as I do.” You see, his wife, the governor, had declared that no one would be able to go boating, even if they stayed away from other people. Boating was forbidden under her stay at home rules. But apparently her husband thought he was special and that her rules did not apply to him or their family.

This, of course, caused a furor and rather than apologize and take the PR hit, the governor decided to play the citizenry for fools. She claimed that the reason her husband made the call to get their boat in the water, explicitly saying that he was the husband of the governor to get preferential treatment, was to just joke around. He just wanted to have some fun at the marina’s expense, he really did not want to go for a boat ride, it was all just a funny joke.

Really governor, you think we are that stupid to accept that excuse? Assuming that we are that stupid might be worse than assuming you and your family are special and the rules you laid down do not apply to you and your family. Come on, if you are going to lie, at least entertain us with a good lie, not one in which your husband was playing a joke. Really.

3) Lori Lightfoot is the mayor of Chicago and recently she has been doing a pretty bad job. She ordered strict stay at home virus orders for all city residents which shut down just about every business. But she decided she needed her hair done so she forced a hair salon to open its doors only for her so she could look pretty while the rest of the city got shaggier and shaggier. She has been obsessively fixated with shutting down churches and synagogues, denying residents their First Amendment rights, claiming that church gatherings spread the coronavirus even though those churches that defied her put safe social distancing rules in place.

And apparently she has not been able to fix what has ailed the city of Chicago for years, deadly violence that usually ends up killing hundreds of citizens a year and wounding and maiming thousands. The recent Memorial Day violence totals prove how ineffective she has been in this area also:

• According to Paige Frye, writing for the Chicago Tribune on May 25, by Monday morning of Memorial Day weekend, 9 Chicago residents had been shot and killed, making it the deadliest Memorial Day weekend in the city since 2015, i.e. things are getting worse under Lightfoot, not better.
• And this feat of deaths was accomplished despite the mayor’s stay at home edicts.
• Nine had been shot and killed, 39 other residents had been shot, and a number of others suffered stabbing wounds.
• The dead included a 16 year old boy walking down the street.
• Last year 43 residents were shot and seven died from their wounds.
• The nine dead this year are the most fatalities since 12 during the Memorial Day weekend in 2015.

One would have hoped that rather than having vital police resources going around peeking into churches to see if anyone dared to practice their religion under safe distancing guidelines, Lightfoot would have deployed those police resources to trouble spots around the city to stop the anticipated carnage. 

But as often with American politicians, hope is in short supply. Rather than stop the violence on the streets she is obsessed with stopping people from attending church services. Bad, bad set of priorities.

4) Sheila Jackson Lee is a Congresswoman from Texas. She has always ranked in the top five politicians covered by this blog for saying stupid stuff:

• She claimed the Constitution is 400 years old, it is not.
• She claimed that two Vietnams still existed, 40 years after South Vietnam disappeared from the face of the Earth.
• In Congressional testimony she wanted to know if a Mars surface vehicle would be going anywhere near where Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.
• She claimed that her Texas Congressional district was 50 feet below sea level, it is not.

So it should not be a surprise that she made a fool of herself again when she tried to defend the extreme racist comment that Joe Biden recently made. In an interview, Biden took a nasty swipe at the intelligence of all African-Americans when he stated: “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.” In other words, you are forgoing your African-American history and heritage and just plain stupid unless you blindly vote for me over Trump. These are his exact words that were caught on the record of that interview he gave.

Jackson Lee somehow, either because she thinks we are too stupid to know that Biden made an extreme racist comment or she is too dense to understand he insulted her and her constituents, claimed that: “And what I would say to you is that that was not what the vice president said in terms of those words.” 

Say what?! Those are his exact words, it is not something different he said, he said those exact words. You just shake your head when politicians try to tell you that war is peace, up is down, my husband was just making a boating joke, etc., either Orwellian tricks or plain stupidity.

That will do it for the political class insanity today and this month. Usually during a month we are able to cut away from the insanity and cover other topics. Unfortunately, every blog post this month had to do with the idiocy, the greed, the stupidity, and ignorance of those in the American political class and their cronies in the media. That is how bad it has become. With another month right around the corner, we will still have to cover the insanity of the American political class, the sludge just keeps oncoming.

July, 2019, Part 2, Political Class Insanity: Guilty Of Doxxing IN D.C., Guilty Of Spending a Lot For Little In California, And Idaho Drops Every Government Regulation

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) We start off this post on political class insanity talking about a major doxxing scandal that has rightfully put a former Senate employee in jail. But first, what is doxxing: searching for and publishing private or identifying information about (a particular individual) on the Internet, typically with malicious intent.

The keywords in the definition are “with malicious intent” which brings us to the sad and pathetic case of former Democratic Congressional aide Jackson Cosko:

• Cosko committed what some people are calling the “largest data theft in Senate history.”
• His intent was to find embarrassing, illegal, or nasty information about Republican Senators during the Brett Kavanaugh Senate hearings with the intent to blackmail them or force them to oppose the nomination.
• Fortunately, Cosko was eventually caught and was recently sentenced to four years in prison.
• One of his doxxing misadventures included getting hold of a Republican Senator’s personal data and then publishing the Senator’s home addresses and phone numbers.
• Given the hatred and passions that were flying high during the Senate hearings for Kavanaugh, this type of information once made public could have endangered the Senator’s family safety in case some nut case decided to take action against that Senator.
• Numerous screw ups by Capital police investigators allowed this data theft to go on way longer than it should have, including the fact that Cosko actually broke into a Senator’s office to steal the data: “The Capitol Police, when they executed the search warrant on his home, they missed what we consider the most significant tranche of data. And we told the Capitol Police to go back and check the oven,” defense attorney Brian Stolarz said in court, highlighting the extent of Cosko’s cooperation with police after being caught. 
• Yes, despite the fact that Capital Police had search warrant for Cosko’s home, they failed to look in the oven which is where he was hiding some of his information.
• Despite having previous felony run-ins with law enforcement related to drug addiction, he was still hired by a Senator and given access to the Senate’s computer systems.
• The Senator eventually fired Cosko for issues unrelated to the eventually computer hacking which should have ended his Congressional career before any doxxing began.
• “Should have ended” his career but it did not since our old friend Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee put Cosko on her staff despite the felony drug run-ins and the fact he had just been fired by a sitting U.S. Senator.
• This allowed him to gather and publish personal information on Senators supporting Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, computer work he did using Jackson Lee’s office computers.
• According to the judge who sentenced Cosko, Judge Thomas Hogan, Cosko’ substance abuse addiction was so bad that “the probation office indicated they’re surprised he wasn’t dead.” 

There are other tawdry details but you get the picture. A drug addict with previous police and law enforcement encounters for his very serious drug addiction, serious enough to rise to felony levels, gets hired, obviously without not much of a background check, for a sitting U.S. Senator, gets fired by the Senator but hired almost immediately by a Congresswoman, accesses and publishes huge amounts of private information about Congressional members with the intent to blackmail them relative to a hot issue while police bungle along, actually needing the perp to tell them to go back to his apartment and search his oven which they did not do doing their search of his premises. 

You cannot make this insanity up, talk about incompetence.

2) Speaking of insanity, let’s go out to California for the latest insanity from those politicians. Since politicians have no idea how to reform healthcare in this country and make it more affordable, their constant “solution” is to throw money at the issue without fixing the underlying problems of high medical costs in this country. 

As we have pointed out dozens and dozens of times under our recurring theme in this post, “the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care,” throwing money at the problem like Obama Care did was an utter failure. Health care costs continued to rise, actually accelerating in many aspects as a result of Obama Care, the exact opposite of what was promised, and the national debt is likely going to be two trillion dollars higher as a result of the law.

But that did not stop California politicians for throwing more tens of millions of dollars at the problem in their state:

• One of the major problems that state Medicaid programs have is that many doctors do not accept Medicaid patients because the payments they get for serving such patients is relatively low.
• Logically, if doctors can fill their days with non-Medicaid patients, they reap higher revenues.
• As a result, many Medicaid patients have problems accessing doctor services.
• To counteract this shortage of access problem, the state’s politicians decided to give 247 California doctors $58.6 million to pay off their student loans in exchange for promising to have at least 30% of their customer base be comprised of Medicaid patients for five years.

I understand their intent but my goodness there has to be a better way if you look at a few numbers:

• Given there are about 56,000 doctors in the state of California, this program, costing $58.6 million dollars will impact .4% of doctors living in the state, not 4%, .4%.
• Given there are almost 40,000,000 people living in California, difficult to see how giving .4% of doctors almost a quarter of millions each is going to move the needle on improving health care.
• Yes, almost a quarter of a million dollars, $58.6 million divided by 247 doctors comes out to about $240,000 each.
• Let’s play a numbers game: assuming that a doctor on average has 1,000 patients, now 30% of them will have to be Medicaid patients, and there are 247 doctors involved, then we are looking at this program getting better medical care to about 74,100 Californians (1,000 times 30% times 247 doctors).
• Given there are 13 million Medicaid patients in the state, this program, best case since it assumes that those 247 doctors currently have no Medicaid patients, will positively impact less than .6% of state Medicaid patients, .6%, best case.

And this does not even begin to account for the hassle, bureaucracy, and expense of tracking this program. What happens after five years and the state determines that a doctor only had 29% of his patients being Medicaid patients? Does he have to repay all of the money, a part of the money, etc.? Will the state even be able to track doctors’ compliance with the program or is it on the honor system? What if a doctor practices in area where there are not that many Medicaid patients, does he still get to keep the money since it was not this fault he fell below the 30% threshold? All kinds of logistics questions arise for a lot of money being spent.

Again, I understand the problem but obviously throwing almost $60 million at the problem to affect far less than 1% of those in the target market seems foolish. But foolish is the business as usual mode of American politicians. Rather than understand the root causes of a problem, let’s just throw money at the problem. At least then it looks like we are doing something even though the underlying numbers show how stupid it is.

3) Obviously most political class insanity we cover is of a negative nature. Politicians screwing up, saying stupid stuff, coming up with the wrong solutions for existing problems and worst of all, over taxation and over regulation. But sometimes political class insanity can be positive, as recently witnessed with the state government in Idaho:

• Idaho apparently is a little strange in that every year its entire set of state regulations has to be renewed.
• If not renewed, the sunset provisions of the regulations cause all state government regulations to simply vanish and no longer apply.
• According to a recent article by the Mercatus organizations, this process is usually automatically done every year with no problem, leaving the state’s residents and businesses to cope with over 8,000 pages of government regulations.
• But apparently, the state legislature and its politicians are so dysfunctional that this year they never got around to rubber stamping the whole regulation package and as a result, those regulations have gone poof!
• The governor of the state had wanted to pare down the number of unnecessary regulations and had some initial success but each and every regulation he wanted to cut had to be reviewed and approved by the legislature, an onerous process.
• But this sunset action now switches the whole playing field: rather than the legislature holding the power and keeping the regulations in place, the legislature now has to come back to the governor and plead with him to reinstate regulations that now no longer exist, giving him the hammer to only allow back in regulations that make a lot of sense rather than regulations that make no sense, no longer serve a purpose, or only serve special interest entities.
• Thus, as of July 1, 2019, 8,200 pages of state government regulations no longer exist.
• Now the governor came implement so-called emergency regulations as he sees fit with the legislature getting to consider whether to make them permanent when they reconvene in January.

For those of us that see government at all levels getting bigger and bigger, more and more expensive, more and intrusive into our lives, the Idaho governor has a unique opportunity to show the rest of the country that minimal regulation is best for citizens, businesses, and freedoms. It should be interesting to see if he can take advantage of this unique opportunity to reign in runaway government.

Enough insanity for now: good insanity from Idaho (caused by political dysfunction), throwing good money after small solutions in California, and a low life government employee goes to jail...finally. More insanity to follow.

April, 2019, The Unfolding Disaster That Is Obama Care: More Government Health Care Intervention Equals Less Quality Health Care

Every month for years now we have had to discuss how bad Obama Care is turning out to be under the continuing theme, “the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care.” This month is no different. As the legislation continues to march through America, driving up health care and health insurance prices as it serves as dead weight on economic growth, it cements its rightful place as the worst piece of legislation Washington has ever produced.

It never had a chance to be successful since it really never addressed the underlying root causes of our ever increasing health costs in the country:

• Americans eat too much of the wrong kind of food, resulting in obscenely high obesity rates for the country.
• Our food chain is infested with overdoses of high fructose corn syrup, salt, and other unhealthy additives.
• Americans smoke too much.
• Americans do not exercise enough.
• The country is in serious need of health care tort reform.
• Barriers to insurance company competition across state lines need to come down.
• Obama Care never “followed the money” to find out who is actually profiting from the ever escalating healthcare costs in this country and how to get those factors under control.
• Obama Care never got the immense amount of fraud and abuse in current government healthcare programs, Medicare and Medicaid, under control in order to save money to efficiently fund other government health care initiatives.
• Obama Care never put serious research money towards curing the major diseases that drive high healthcare costs such as high frequency cancers and dementia type diseases.

You cannot resolve any problem unless you understand and address the underlying root causes. No difference here: Obama Care legislation never addressed these listed root causes and thus, has no chance of ever being successful.

But it is not just missing the root causes of our healthcare costs that makes Obama Care so horrible. It resulted in millions of Americans losing access to their favored doctors, hospitals, and insurance policies. It has caused insurance premiums, deductibles and co-pays to escalate substantially. It will likely add trillions of dollars to the national debt. It has exposed millions of Americans to higher than necessary identity theft chances. It has created government bureaucracies that are wastefully spending taxpayer wealth and being exploited by criminal elements. It has stifled economic growth and job creation.

These are just a sample of the types of idiocy that we have been reviewing for the past several years in this blog relative to Obama Care., To read those past posts, just enter the phrase, “the unfolding disaster,” in the search box above.

Let's continue with more disasters today:

1) Although Obama Care and its socialistic tenets turned out to be a massive failure, liberals and Democrats want to go further down this road of failure to a single payer, socialistic health care system in this country. They like to point out that other countries, usually using the Scandinavian countries as an example, have a single payer system and thus, based on that fact alone, we should have it in this country.

But numerous times we have shown what a failure the single payer system is. Long delays to get in to see a doctor, waiting months to get a simple diagnostic test done. Higher and higher healthcare taxes to get less and less healthcare coverage. Citizens leaving a country to come to the U.S. because the wait times for a procedure is so long in a single payer system. Basically, expensive healthcare that makes you die younger.

But the Legal Insurrection website recently ran article that shows that single payer systems in Scandinavian countries are not all that liberals think they are or dream they are:

• The Washington Free Beacon reported: The government of Finland collapsed Friday “due to the rising cost of universal health care and the prime minister’s failure to enact reforms to the system.”
• This caused Prime Minister Juha Sipila and his entire cabinet to resign after his governing coalition could pass the necessary laws to reform the government’s single payer health care system.Much like the U.S., Finland has an aging population with 26% of its citizens expected to be over the age of 65 by 2030.An aging population almost always means higher and higher healthcare costs.
• To head off financial disaster, Finland has tried to cut costs and boost health care efficiency for years but has been unsuccessful in doing so, resulting in more and more financial distress for the government.
• And according to Reuters, Finland is not alone in this crisis: “Nordic countries, where comprehensive welfare is the cornerstone of the social model, have been among the most affected. But reform has been controversial and, in Finland, plans to cut costs and boost efficiency have stalled for years.”
• Other Nordic countries with single payer systems such as Sweden and Norway are facing similar health care financial stress.

Nasty stuff, people getting older and their government likely not going to be able to fulfill its commitment of health care. And yet, liberals and Democrat in Washington continue to champion a losing approach to healthcare with a recent tweet by Bernie Sanders showing just how ignorant he is of reality and finance: “In the United States it costs on average $12,000 to have a baby. In Finland it costs $60.”

So Sanders thinks that for $60 you can give birth to a baby in Finland and that $60 will cover hospital, doctor, nurse, and medicine costs for the birth. It does not cost $60, Bernie. It costs much more, it is just that the couple having the baby pay less while the rest of Finland society and taxpayers pay much more than $60. Are you that ignorant of finance or are you just a flat out liar? In either case, single payer systems are not efficient, effective, or healthy for sick citizens. Obama Care proved that and the Scandinavian countries, along with England and Canada, prove that every day.

2) Chris Pope, recently writing for the National Review website, wrote an excellent article that not only showed how bad Obama Care was but how bad Medicare For All would be, which is really Obama Care on steroids. Rather than review all aspects of his in depth and well researched and reasoned article, I encourage you to read it at:

My trying to summarize his analysis and logic would not do it justice. But let me pull out some facts and realities from his work that prove again that Obama Care is nothing more than a series of unfolding disasters, much like Medicare For All would be:

• Mr. Pope reminds us that Obama and the entire set of Washington Democrats promised us that Obama Care would reduce costs and improve medical and health care delivery.
• Obama actually promised that an average American family could actually see their annual health care insurance costs go down by up to $2,500 a year.
• Of course that did not happen, health insurance premiums skyrocketed, health insurance copays skyrocketed, millions of American lost access to their favorite doctors and hospitals and drug costs continued to escalate.
• By the numbers, health insurance premiums for individual health insurance programs under Obama Care doubled within three years of the legislation being passed.
• Premiums for Obama Care health insurance plans now average $4,700 a year, almost $400 a month, hardly the $2,500 reduction Obama promised.
• And yet Democrats want even more government intervention in the market even though Obama Care’s intervention was a disaster.
• The state of Vermont, a very liberal state that is the home of Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders, a big Medicare For All advocate, tried to implement a single payer system in 2014.
• Thus, if any part of the country had any chance of making a single payer system work, it was Vermont.
• And yet, when the liberal politicians in Vermont ran the numbers and actually looked at the reality, they decided they could not afford a single payer system.
• The costs on a national level, costs that Vermont found out quite rudely, would add $3 TRILLION to the Federal government operating costs every year, more than double the amount that the Federal government collects in personal income taxes.
• This $3 TRILLION annual incremental cost was independently arrived by analysis done by both the liberal leaning Urban Institute and the conservative leaning Mercatus Center.
• Even Nancy Pelosi’s health policy advisor, Wendell Primus, notes that, “recently noted as fundamental obstacles to Medicare for All the large number of potential losers, widespread opposition from stakeholders, and the desire to reserve funds for other priorities. As the party’s presidential candidates for 2020 have jockeyed for position, many have endorsed proposals in full knowledge that they cannot be implemented. Indeed, even Bernie Sanders of Vermont, whose state enacted single-payer but abandoned the plan when the scale of associated tax increases became clear, has refused to advocate abolishing the filibuster in order to enact Medicare for All.”
• One version of Medicare For All that is less expensive than the full blown Medicare for All theory is to allow people of all ages to “buy in” to the program, a facet of Medicare that already exists for senior citizens that have not contributed enough in payroll taxes over their lifetime to qualify for regular Medicare.
• However, this program would cost Medicare For All customers to currently pay $974 a month for Medicare Parts A,B, and D, hardly affordable for most Americans.
• Many Obama Care programs cost much less than $974 a month so things would be worse, not better, under Medicare For All.
• But as soon as liberals decide that the $974 should be subsidized then we are right back to an incremental $3 TRILLION a year in cost.
• And liberals never seem to talk about the reality, that according to Gallup, 80% of Americans rate their current health care as excellent or good so why would the vast majority of Americans want to give up their current excellent or good health care for a long shot, long odds program like Medicare For All?
• Plus, the average out of pocket costs that Americans pay as a share of average household consumption (3%) is actually slightly less than the average among developed countries, another reality that liberals like to ignore.

But consider another reality that the article does not cover: do you really think that Washington, like the following idiots, should be trusted with every aspect of your medical care:

• Democratic Congressman Hank Johnson actually stated in a televised Congressional hearing that he was worried the island of Guam could tip over in the Pacific Ocean.
• Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee thinks the Constitution is over 400 years old, that her Congressional district is 50 feet below sea level (it is not), and wondered out loud if a Mars Rover mission would drive by the place where Neil Armstrong planted the flag on the moon.
• Democratic Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi once proudly stated that the Obama Care legislation had to be passed so that she and the rest of the country could see what was in it, like a Christmas present.
• And of course, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does not know the simple definition of the unemployment rate, does not know how tax credits work, chased Amazon and its 25,000 high paying jobs out of her Congressional district, etc., etc., etc.

So, Scandinavian countries’ single payer healthcare plans are going bankrupt, with costs increasing as quality goes down, and Medicare For All is so stupid and ill fated along every dimension imaginable. It is a no brainer that the ore government and the politicians who operate it the less healthy and less wealthy people become.

November,, 2018, Part 3, Political Class Insanity: An Iraqi Bomber in Las Vegas, Elizabeth Warren Goes Ignorant, Obama's Prisoner Exchange Backfires And Idiocy In Pennsylvania

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Democrats and liberals constantly lobby for weak or no immigration restrictions. I believe they feel this way because they think that the more illegal immigrants that come into this country the more they can eventually convert those folks into Democratic voters. But they never consider the very real reality that many people coming into this country, legally and illegally, do not have good intentions.

The following such immigrant news is from CBS News:

• Recently released court documents show how an FBI sting operation prevented a man from Iraq from carrying out his bombing plans.
• Apparently he was a gifted bomb making person who got busted showing off his bomb making skills to an undercover FBI agent.
• Ahmad Suhad Ahmad of Iraq was arrested after a two year sting operation.
• He bragged to the undercover agent how easy it was to make a bomb that could be detonated by a cell phone, a skill he developed during the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

So, yes immigration is important and a part of our heritage. But unrestricted, unchecked immigration could end up being deadly for many Americans. And this fellow was here legally, can you imagine the intentions of those coming here illegally? But it appears any American bombing victims would be just political collateral damage from the Democrats’ point of view.

2) The Brett Kavanaugh Senate hearings on his Supreme Court nomination were brutal and embarrassing for the country. The Democrats sitting on the Senate committee reviewing his nomination made a mockery of the Constitutional process that was put in place for such purposes.

And apparently the shenanigans continued outside of the Senate hearing room. Two formal ethics complaints have been lodged against two Democratic Senators, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris, for unethically and possibly illegally fundraising off of the hearing process. This is a very serious charge that will be explored to see if any ethics or legal violations have occurred.

Which brings us to a recent article by Alicia F. Duke on the Eagle Rising website pertaining to Ms.Warren:

• Ms. Warren is up for reelection and was recently involved in a debate with her Republican opponent up in their home state of Massachusetts.
• According to the article, “Republican challenger Geoff Diehl pointed out Warren is alleged to have fundraised off Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings, asking for donations in exchange for her vote against the nominee.
• Apparently Senate rules prohibit “linking a promise of official action to a solicitation of campaign contributions.”
• Warren tried to change the subject but eventually admitted that she had no idea a formal complaint had been filed against her.

Talk about incompetence and being out of touch. A serious charge is leveled against you, your opponent knows about it, most of the world knows about it, and you and your staff are ignorant about it?! And you want to be President despite this level of ineptness? Seinfeld would say, “I would not want you as my latex salesman,” never mind President.

3) An action that Obama took while President baffled me then and still baffles me today. U.S. armed forces had risked their lives and captured five leading Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan. These five were very high up in the Taliban hierarchy and were exactly that, terrorists. 

For some reason, Obama decided to exchange these five dangerous, captured terrorists for a captured U.S. soldier that had deserted his post and military unit while serving in Afghanistan. His fellow soldiers suffered wounds and deaths searching for this deserter. The move made no sense.

And we may still be paying a dangerous price for this idiocy:

• According to Warner Todd Huston, writing for the Godfather Politics website on October 31, 2018, all five of these high ranking and dangerous terrorists have returned to their terroristic roots. 
• They are part of a Taliban coalition that has been invited to sit down with the current government in Afghanistan to negotiate an end to the long running hostilities.
• Recall that when the Taliban ruled over Afghanistan it was one of the most brutal and nasty regimes in the world.
• Fortunately, U.S. military forces ousted the tyrants in the Taliban and sent them into hiding throughout the countryside.
• But now, thanks to Obama releasing them, these five tyrants are now leading a comeback of the Taliban that could make all of the American military deaths and wounded and untold billions of dollars spent a total waste of life and wealth.
• The Associated Press described how dangerous these people are: “Human Rights Watch accused Mohammed Fazl, the former Taliban army chief arrested in 2002, of overseeing the deaths of thousands of minority Shiites in 2000. The massacre outraged the world and followed the killing the year before of an estimated 2,000 young ethnic Pashtuns in northern Afghanistan by Taliban rivals. Another of the five is Khairullah Khairkhwa, a former governor of Herat province, who was close to both Taliban founder Mullah Omar and al- Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.” 

So much downside to this idiotic move of Obama with no apparent upside except to get back a deserter. And five dangerous people who had been neutralized are now free to bring havoc and death back to U.S. military forces and the Afghan country. Insanity.

4) We have always had favorite politicians in this blog, not because they were amazing, positive and constructive people and leaders but because their words and actions were always insane, inane, and just plain dumb. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi once proclaimed that Congress had to pass a law before they could find out what was in it. Congressman Hank Johnson publicly worried the island of Guam could actually tip over in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee once proclaimed that the Constitution was over 400 years old. Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez idiotically proclaimed that the unemployment rate was low because people held multiple jobs.

And this tradition of idiotic statements continues in Pennsylvania:

• A politician running for office in Pennsylvania decided to call “white working class” voters/residents racists.
• Specifically, a Democratic Socialist running for a state government office, Sara Innamorato, labeled her voters “white working class poor folk who are racist.” 
• And not unexpectedly, local TV station KDKA-TV is getting negative feedback for this idiotic comments.
• Her whole statement was as follows: “I just look at my district, right? And it’s 93 percent white. My district, which I know is like white working-class poor folk who are racist, because it’s so much easier for them to look to their side and say, ‘I’m going to blame that person.’”
• She did issue a statement when the heat came claiming that she did not intend to insult the residents in her district, which is so stupid relative to what her original statement was.

Not only is this a ridiculous statement, saying an entire race of people are racists, but 1) even if you believe this bigotry why would you state it out loud and still think people would still vote for you and 2) what possible good can come out of such an ignorant and aggressive bigoted statement? Insanity.

That will do it for today: an Iraqi bomb maker in Las Vegas, unethical Senators in Washington, Obama’s stupidity comes home to roost in Afghanistan, and stupid campaign tactics in Pennsylvania. More insanity to follow.

August, 2017, Part 1,The Unfolding Disaster That Is Obama Care: $ MIllion Say NO Thanks To Obama Care, Aetna Says Good Bye to Obama Care, and The Failure Of Health Care In Canada

Every month for years now we have had to discuss how bad Obama Care is turning out to be under the continuing theme, “the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care.” This month is no different. As the legislation continues to march through America, driving up health care and health insurance prices as it serves as dead weight on economic growth, it cements its rightful place as the worst piece of legislation Washington has ever produced.

• It never had a chance to be successful since it really never addressed the underlying root causes of our ever increasing health costs in the country:
• Americans eat too much of the wrong kind of food, resulting in obscenely high obesity rates for the country.
• Our food chain is infested with overdoses of high fructose corn syrup, salt, sugar, and other unhealthy additives.
• Americans smoke too much.
• Americans do not exercise enough.
• The country is in serious need of health care tort reform.
• Barriers to insurance company competition across state lines need to come down.
• Obama Care never “followed the money” to find out who is actually profiting from the ever escalating healthcare costs in this country and how to get those factors under control.
• Obama Care never got the immense amount of fraud and abuse in current government healthcare programs, Medicare and Medicaid, under control in order to save money to efficiently fund other government health care initiatives.
• Obama Care never put serious research money towards curing the major diseases that drive high healthcare costs such as high frequency cancers and dementia type diseases.

You cannot resolve any problem unless you understand and address the underlying root causes. No difference here: Obama Care legislation never addressed these listed root causes and thus, has no chance of ever being successful.

But it is not just missing the root causes of our healthcare costs that makes Obama Care so horrible. It resulted in millions of Americans losing access to their favored doctors, hospitals, and insurance policies. It has caused insurance premiums, deductibles and copays to escalate substantially. It will likely add trillions of dollars to the national debt. It has exposed millions of Americans to higher than necessary identity theft chances. It has created government bureaucracies that are wastefully spending taxpayer wealth and being exploited by criminal elements. It has stifled economic growth and job creation.

These are just a sample of the types of idiocy that we have been reviewing for the past several years in this blog relative to Obama Care., To read those past posts, just enter the phrase, “the unfolding disaster,” in the search box above.

1) By this time in the Obama Care life cycle, we were promised that well over 21 million Americans would be enjoying affordable health care coverage from a plethora of insurance companies all eager for our business and insurance dollars and that we would be getting medical support from our current doctors or any doctor we wanted. Instead we have about half the promised number of people with Obama Care policies, the annual cost of those policies has been going up by double digits since the beginning, the number of companies offering Obama Care policies continues to dwindle quickly, and the network of healthcare professionals in Obama Care policy networks has gotten more and more narrow.

The quality of the insurance and health care provided has gotten so bad that a whopping 8.1 million Americans paid over $1.6 billion in fines since they did not purchase health insurance back in 2014, as required by Obama Care. According to the IRS: “Beginning in 2014, the Affordable Care Act required that individuals must have had health care coverage, qualified for a health coverage exemption, or made a shared responsibility payment with a tax return. A health care individual responsibility payment was made on 8.1 million returns for $1.7 billion, an average of $210 per tax return paying this penalty.”

While that number got lower as the penalty for not having health insurance got higher, the Congressional Budget Office predicts that this year 4 million Americans will still ignore the mandate to buy insurance and pay the fine which in total will come to about $5 billion. Let’s play with some numbers:

• That is $5 billion that will not be used to grow the economy, $5 billion less than cannot be used for movie tickets, nights out for dinner, kids’ camps, etc., $5 billion that will disappear into the Federal bureaucracy and never be seen again.
• With about 10 million Americans currently having Obama Care insurance policy coverage, a whopping 40% equivalent to those covered have said no to Obama Care.
• If Obama Care was really that good, you would not have the equivalent of 40% of the current enrollees saying no thanks.

Another sad Obama Care prediction failure. Or as Senator Tom Cotton summed it up: “It’s not surprising that the Obamacare mandate numbers are worse than the administration first claimed. Obamacare penalizes taxpayers who can no longer afford insurance that Obamacare made unaffordable. As Obamacare continues to unravel, things will only get worse. The legacy of Obamacare is skyrocketing premiums, unaffordable deductibles, the destruction of the individual insurance market, and tax penalties on Obamacare’s victims.”

2) So not only are millions of Americans savvy enough to realize that paying a lot of money for very poor insurance coverage is not a sound financial decision, even those that would like to get an Obama Care policy are having problems:

• According to Martin Knoll, writing for the Conservative Tribune website on August 4, 2017, another major health insurance company has pulled out of ALL of the Obama Care markets that it currently serves.
• Aetna, one of the largest health insurance companies in the country, announced they are completely withdrawing from Obama Care exchanges in 2018, leaving many Americans again without health insurance coverage.
• While the company had considered staying in the Nevada Obama Care market, in the end it pulled out of that state also.
• The reasons they are pulling out of all of the Obama Care markets was evident in their recent earnings report where they had a record 52% growth in profits with a lot of that growth being attributed to pulling out of other Obama Care markets previously.
• Aetna had lost about $700 million on Obama Care policies between 2014 and 2016 and was expected to lose another $200 million in 2017 despite a shrunken presence.

So much for “bending the cost” curve of healthcare in this country. The costs due to Obama Care are higher than expected or promised everywhere, from people voting with their wallets to not buy Obama Care expensive, poor quality insurance policies to large health insurers saying they have had enough, the costs of Obama Care policies are still too high.

3) The last refuge of Obama Care supporters is coming down to the universal healthcare/single payer system, where the government handles every single aspect of your health care needs. These people are now saying that Obama Care did not go far enough, did not allow the government enough control over our health care decisions, that is why it failed. They say this despite their promises seven years ago of lower costs, more competition, better medical care. They were entirely wrong back then in their predictions about Obama Care, why should we believe them and their predictions about universal single payer health care?

In fact, we do not have to believe them. We have previously reviewed the single payer government controls everything healthcare market previously in this blog and how it has failed miserably in other countries:

Let’s stay with this theme, i.e. failed single payer around the world, with a revisit to Canada:

• A new research report from the Fraser Institute shows that Canadians pay a lot of money for their single payer healthcare system and get very poor service in return.
• The research also found that that Canadians really have no clue how expensive their healthcare really system is since it is indirectly paid for via a myriad of taxes and fees: “Canadians often misunderstand the true cost of our public healthcare system. This occurs partly because Canadians do not incur direct expenses for their use of health care, and partly because Canadians cannot readily determine the value of their contribution to public health care insurance.”
• The research found that a typical Canadian family of four will pay $12,057 a year for health care in 2017, an increase of 70% over the past 20 years.
• Thus, the typical family is paying over $1,000 a month and still are not getting anywhere close to good medical care.
• Fraser also found that about 63,000 Canadians leave the country every year to get medical treatment, an average of about 120 a week.
• Thus, if the Canadian system is so good while do tens of thousands of Canadians abandon that system for medical care elsewhere, usually in the U.S. every year? Could it be the long waiting lists for both simple and complex surgery that exists in Canadian hospitals?
• According to the report from Fraser: “Services are being rationed. In our last report on wait times in Canada, we discovered that the average wait time from referral to treatment was 20 weeks. That was the longest wait time in the history of our survey.”
• While the U.S. healthcare model has its problems, can you imagine waiting for five months on average just to get a referral? That does not mean treatment, that means getting a referral to get an opinion on what treatment should be.
• A five month wait for a referral could be a death sentence for someone with a cancer or other life threatening disease, hardly good health care practices.

Rationed health care at high prices with long waiting lists? Does not sound so great when you understand the reality of failure of a single payer, government controlled healthcare system. 

And besides the point of the failure of single payer in England, Canada and elsewhere: do you really want the likes of Nancy Pelosi (the Speaker ofthe House who actually said that they had to pass legislation before they could see what was in it), Maxine Walters, Hank Johnson (the Congressman who actually thought the island of Guam could topple over and go upside down in the Pacific Ocean), Sheila Jackson Lee (the Congresswoman who wanted to know if the Mars Rover would be driving anywhere close to where Neil Armstrong landed on the moon), etc., etc., I think not!
