May, 2017, Part 10, Political Class Insanity: Child Sexting In Washington, Out of Touch at the DNC, and More

Today and for all of the insanity posts this month, let’s start off with a welcome piece of honest political dialog. It comes from a State Department spokesperson. Mark Toner, who is about to start the daily State Department press briefing. In a joking matter, he makes the following quote: "Welcome to the State Department. I think we have some interns in the back. Welcome. Good to see you in this exercise in transparency and democracy."

He then burst out laughing at his own quote, indicating he also knew what a joke the Obama administration has been, especially Mr. Toner’s State Department, when it comes to cover ups, lack of transparency, denial of Freedom of Information Act requests, the prosecution of whistleblowers, etc. But at least it was a little refreshing to finally hear some actual honesty out of Washington as we see from the actual clip of the news conference:

With that context of honesty, let’s see what other insanity has been going down:

1)The election of Donald Trump, if anything, proved that much of America is fed up with the antics, incompetence, and idiocy of the current members of the American political class. A recent article on the Patriot News Weekly website confirmed that observation:

A recent ABC News/Washington Post found that a whopping two thirds of Americans believe that the Democratic Party is out of touch with mainstream Americans today.
And the reality that the Democrats need to widen their appeal does not seem to have sunk in yet with their leadership and such people as DNC chairman Tom Perez.
Although almost half of the country is current against the concept of abortion according to Gallup, that half of the country has now been cut off from the Democrats according to a recent Perez statement: “Every Democrat, like every American, should support a woman’s right to make her own choices about her body and her health. That is not negotiable and should not change city by city or state by state.” Bam, half the country possibly lost!

While I admire Perez sticking to his principles, he cannot have it both ways. Either accept the fact that almost half of the country, and a plurality of Americans, are against the concept of abortion, and consider their reasoning and feelings or move on and continue to be a minority party in this country. Sad that a politician cannot accept that maybe he or she is wrong and reexamine their views, very sad and insane.

2) What would a monthly review of political class insanity be without a murder body count from Chicago? As we have discussed many times, the local and state politicians in Illinois have stood idly by without a solution to the every escalating drug gang and drug cartel related violence in Chicago that claims hundreds of lives every year and results in thousands wounded by the gang and gun violence.

Recent body count numbers have not been any better:

In a recent 15 hour period, there were 17 murders in the city, a record for intensity in a city where the gun and gang violence has been intense for years.
This murder spree went down despite the fact that Chicago and Illinois have some of the toughest gun laws in the whole country.
As a sanctuary city, the local politicians have allowed foreign criminal elements and gangs to set up shop knowing that local politicians will not work with the Feds to enforce current immigration laws and have them deported or put in jail, a reality that endangers innocent Chicago citizens every day.
According to the Chicago Tribune, every death was the result of gang related activities.
In one innocent according to the Tribune, Sarah Brazzle and her friend were shot simply because they happened upon a carjacking in progress.
Local authorities confirm that many of central America’s most violent drug cartels have established themselves in Chicago including the Zetas, the MS-15 cartel and others.

The carnage goes on and the local political class has no concept of how to fix the terrible violence.

3) A recent NewsMax May 19, 2017 article highlighted one of the more despicable politicians to recently serve in Congress and how he recently got his just rewards:

Former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner recently pleading guilty to criminal charges that he had been sexting online with a 15 year old girl.
Yes, a former member of Congress admitting guilt in sending sexual material to a minor just a few years removed from voting on legislation that affects all of our lives and our families.
He agreed not to appeal any sentence that ran from 21 to 27 months and he will have to register as a sex offender once he gets out of prison.
He was found out about his lewd and disgusting behavior when a North Carolina girl reported him, telling authorities that she and Weiner had been exchanging lewd messages for several months and that at one point the former Congressman asked the 15 year old to strip on camera while he watched.
The investigation and FBI examining his laptop revealed that his laptop contained classified State Department emails that Hillary Clinton had sent to Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, Clinton’s top conifdeant.
This behavior comes on the heels of information from several years ago that led to his leaving Congress that for years he had beensexting with several women despite being married and a member of Congress.

As we have said many times, our political processes are so broken that a pervert like Anthony Weiner can serve in Congress for many, many years,come into possession of sensitive government documents, and vote on important legislation that affects us all despite totally questionable and disgusting judgement.

4) One more set of perversion and insanity for today. According to Melissa Quinn, writing for the Washington Examiner on May, 18, 2017:

A Secret Service officer, who was assigned to the White House, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexting with minors.
The agent, Lee Robert Moore, will also have to register as a sex offender and will be on supervised watch for the rest of his life.
He pleaded guilty to enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity and trying to send lewd materials to a minor.
Apparently, he sexted with minors while on duty at the White House.
He was eventually caught via a sting conducted by the Delaware State Police.

At one time Congressional members and Secret Service agents were viewed with respect and awe. They it appears that at least one of them in each organization is a child sex offender, tarnishing the entire organization they both work for. No wonder that two thirds of Americans think the Democrats are out of touch with America, not when this type of behavior of Washington insiders becomes more and more common and politicians do nothing about it.

Such violent and disgusting insanity today, more to follow in the coming days.

May, 2017, Political Class Insanity,Part 9: Insanity In Germany, An Obama Attorney Replaces the Supreme Court, and More

In Hamburg, Germany, there are not enough housing units to shelter and support the migrants and immigrants that Prime Minister Angela Merkel has so willingly allowed to enter her country.
As a result, the local government and politicians are confiscating commercial properties and privately owned residences and are updating them and using them to house immigrants from throughout the Middle East.
For example, the local government recently seized six residential units in the Hamm district of the city that are owned by a private landlord but have been vacant since 2012.
The six units were rundown so the local government renovated them and had the nerve and gall to then turn around and bill the private landlord for the repairs they made even though the landlord cannot rent the units out and recoup his money since the city placed immigrants into the units.
This power grab is legal under a long time law that enables the local politicians to seize any residential property they see fit as long as it has been vacant for more than four months.

Talk about an overreaching government bureaucracy. The national government unleashes a wave of immigrants across the country and a local government than seizes privately owned property to house the overflowing illegal immigrant population, property rights and private ownership and freedom be damned. Lenin would be so proud.

2) Sally Yates was a leftover attorney in the Justice Department from the Obama administration. She recently testified in front of Congress on why she refused to execute an immigration order from the Trump administration that was meant to enforce current immigration laws already on the books.

Apparently, she decided unilaterally that the order was unConstitutional and decided that it was her prerogative as a single lawyer in the Justice Department to disobey an instruction from the President. During the hearing in front of Congress, a Senator asked some obvious questions: when did Sally Yates take the place of the Supreme Court, when did a lowly Justice Department attorney become the decider of what is Constitutional?

According to BizPac Review: On her refusal, Yates told Kennedy that she “believed any argument [the Justice Department] would have to make in its defense would not be grounded in the truth. We would have to argue that it had nothing to do with religion.”

When asked whether or not there was another way to defend the order, Yates responded with her belief that the order’s intent was to discriminate against Muslims who wanted to come to the United States.

Then, the Louisiana senator went in for the proverbial kill-shot: “At what point does an Act of Congress or an executive order become unconstitutional?” Kennedy asked. “I can look at a statute and say ‘I think that’s unconstitutional.’ Does that make it unconstitutional?”

After some stammering from Yates, Kennedy said, “What I’m getting at, and I don’t mean disrespect… Who appointed you to the United States Supreme Court?”

Yates doubled down with the contention that it’s the Attorney General’s responsibility to say no if they believe an order is unlawful, “and that’s what I did.”

“I believe you believe what you’re saying,” said Kennedy.

Maybe so, but that doesn’t make it constitutional.

I guess that in Ms. Yate’s world, the Constitutional processes and checks and balances so wonderfully set up by the Founders in the Constitutional no longer apply to people like her, that now, it is unelected bureaucrats that get to decide what is and what is not Constitutional. Pathetic and an insult to the Constitution.

3) One of the beauties of the Constitution is the limitation it places on government and politicians that your personal lives theoretically cannot be intruded on by government bureaucrats and politicians unless there is a a real potential to hurt national security and personal security of a citizen and that a judge agrees with the request to intrude.

But as was often the case during the Obama administration, the law and Constitution are merely suggestions. According to a May 2, 2017 article on the NewsMax website:

When the NSA does an information sweep regarding national security threats that have been approved by a court, they “mask” or cover up the names of innocent citizens that may have been swept up in the NSA activity.
The reason they are masked is to protect the innocent who are just bystanders in the NSA investigation and to protect their Fourth Amendment rights.
But that safeguard was not something that the Obama administration cared about since a recent uncovered government document showed that the Obama administration asked that the NSA unmask the names of over 1,900 innocent Americans who were swept up in NSA investigations.
The accusations arising from this “unmasking” effort is that the Obama administration was looking for the names for political purposes, not national security processes.

This is what happens when politicians and bureaucrats put political objectives ahead of Constitutional rights. Keep in mind, as pointed out in the article, in 2016 the Obama administration collected more than 151 million phone records of Americans. Given this rate of collecting over 400,000 phone records a DAY of Americans’ communications there is little doubt in my mind that Obama and his minions wanted information on his political opponents and could care less about national security in this case.

That will do it for the insanity for today: Obama and his disdain for the Constitution and privacy, an Obama attorney that thinks she is now the Supreme Court, and German political class insanity that proves that government officials around the world care more about foreigners than their own citizens.

May, 2017, Part 8, Political Class Insanity: Massive Fail In Afghanistan, Greedy Millionaire Politicians In Washington and More

The Pentagon and the Trump administration are considering expanding military operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
As we have previously reported in this blog, the Taliban who were once on the run in the country, are back and as strong as ever, controlling more areas of the country then since the U.S. military and other NATO forces went into Afghanistan 16 years ago.
Actions being considered to regain the momentum in the country include sending more U.S. troops into the country and relieving Obama administration orders that hindered the military from fighting the way they thought necessary.
This military review of the current crisis situation was explained by Andrew Wilder, an Afghanistan expert at the U.S. Institute Of Peace: "The review is an opportunity to send a message that, yes, the U.S. is going to send more troops, but it's not to achieve a forever military victory – rather, it's to try to bring about a negotiated end to this conflict."
The current potential plan involves sending another 3,000 U.S. troops over there to supplement the 8,400 that are already there.

So after eight years of the Obama administration, we have another Obama foreign affairs failure. Thousands killed and wounded and billions and billions spent over the past eight years and the situation is somehow worse and not better. Insanity, fatal insanity.

2) One of the fifty steps we outlined in our book, “Love My Country, Loathe My Government - Fifty First Steps To Restoring Our Freedom And Destroying the American Political Class,” was to force politicians with assets of over $3 million a year to forfeit their annual salary of about $174,000 a year.

Given that we as a country have a Federal government national debt load of about $20 TRILLION, it would be a nice, symbolic move if the hundreds of millionaire members in Congress donated their annual salaries to either worthy causes (e.g. feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, treating the addicted) or apply their annual salaries to symbolically help reduce the onerous national debt.

But despite being rich beyond comprehension of most Americans, the really rich in Congress still insist they draw their annual salary even though it is a nit against their total wealth and annual income from other sources. Consider a recent LA Times article that amply demonstrated how Nancy Pelosi, a very, very rich person, still draws a salary that she does not need in any way:

According to a recent analysis of government documents that members of Congress need to file in the financial statements done by Roll Call, Nancy Pelosi is estimated to be worth about $29.3 million.
This means that her annual salary as a member of Congress is significantly below 1% when measured against her net worth of $29.3, in other words refusing to draw her annual salary would not put her in the poor house or cause her to starve to death.
Pelosi owns a vineyard estate back in California that is worth millions and millions of dollars so refusing her $174,000 salary every year would not make her homeless.
The property sells grapes that grow on the estate, providing another income stream for Pelosi.
Pelosi also owns another Napa Valley property that collects between $15,001 and $50,000 in rent every year.
That second property could be worth upwards of a million dollars.
She and her husband own a THIRD property, a townhouse near the Sugar Bowl Ski resort, that could be worth anywhere between $1 and $5 million.
She and her husband also have investments in Apple, Disney, and Facebook and her husband has financial stakes in several San Francisco office buildings and other commercial real estate investments elsewhere in the state.

And while it is obscene that Pelosi dares to take an annual salary while serving the country, given her personal and family wealth and the sad shape of the country’s debt situation, she is only the 15th richest member of Congress; there are actually 14 others in Congress that are wealthier than her but still draw a salary funded by burdened American taxpayers.

Please never tell me that we do not have an elitist political class in this country that for doing very little, and always screwing that up, make obscene amounts of money for themselves and their lobbyist friends.

3) Before we go any further on the next case of political class insanity, remember that in this country, everyone is assumed innocent until proven guilty. And that noble principle should be extended to the current mayor of Seattle despite the following accusations and realities:

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray recently announced that he will not run for reelection in that city after a series of accusations arose that he sexually abused teenage boys decades ago.
A fourth accuser recently came forward and he accused Murray of paying him for sex when he was a teenager decades ago.
This fourth accuser claims that he was introduced to Murray by a Delvonn Heckard who filed a lawsuit recently that claimed he was also abused by the Mayor back in the 1980s
Murray had the following statement after announcing he was not going to run for reelection: “It tears me to pieces to step away but I believe it’s in the best interest of this city that I love.”

Again, innocent until proven guilty. But if he is guilty, we have just another example of how broken our political processes have become since it has allowed deviant, greedy, and inept people to infect our political and government processes from the local through the Federal government levels.

May, 2017, Part 7, Political Class Insanity: Bad Chicago Priorities and The Height Hypocrisy In California

It is the beginning of another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

With that context of honesty, let’s see what other insanity has been going down:

1) Political class insanity is not restricted to Washington politicians. Local politicians can also be insane, idiotic, and have wacked out priorities. Such is the case in Chicago and their mayor, Rahm Emanuel.

Apparently, several pages were recently removed from the EPA’s website that were related to climate change. This is obviously the prerogative of the Trump administration after their election victory last year and the fact that many, many Americans, including myself, are global warming doubters and believers in science. We do want to have unproven theories shoved down our throat when those that advocate for manmade global warming and climate change only consider science, research, and statistics that favor their position, ignoring all information and science to the contrary.

But according to a recent report on the Independent Journal Review website written by Mike Miller, the good mayor of Chicago took it upon himself to resurrect those deleted website pages of the EPA website and reinstate them on the Chicago city website. Now, this is certainly his prerogative to do so, being elected by the good people of Chicago but one has to question his priorities. Given the horrendous crime and violence conditions in his city, shouldn’t the good mayor be focused on the day to day conditions that affect his citizens that he is supposed to represent rather than spending time and city resources on a climate theory that gets weaker and weaker as more and more science shows that massive man made global warming and climate change is closer to a myth than a reality?

The reaction to this misplaced set of priorities was swift and ruthless onTwitter:

Vinnie Nilsen reminded Emanuel that in 2016 that Chicago had 3,550 shootings, 4,331 shooting victims, and 726 murders and that “2017 isn’t looking any better.”
ABC News in Chicago reminded the mayor that in April, 2017 alone there were 45 killed in Chicago.
The Chicago Sun Times reminded the mayor that 4 residents were killed and 17 wounded during just a single recent weekend.
“Jack” reminded the mayor that there have been over 200 murders in Chicago already this year.
Actor James Woods sarcastically asked if the new climate change web pages were listed before the Chicago murder rate page?
Duckwacker also got sarcastic and claimed that people are killed by global warming in Chicago every day.
Chuck Flynn suggested that “Maybe Rahm should change the climate of The Southside of Chicago. Maybe he'd see a reduction in murders.”
According to the Hey Jackass website, in a recent weekend 38 Chicago residents were shot, three were killed and as of the first week in May, the year-to-date carnage has been 195 people killed and 907 wounded in the city.

Does anyone really think that the majority of Chicago residents, if asked, would approve of the mayor using his time and city resources worrying about global warming and climate change when they themselves and their kids are in such mortal danger every single day of their lives? This is nothing more than the rearranging of the chairs on the Titanic syndrome. The mayor is in his second term and if anything, the murder rate, crime, and violence has gotten worse as his administration has progressed.

Obviously, he has no clue on how to fix the real, immediate problems of the city so he wastes his time and attention span on a silly website and climate statement, actions that will not protect the next set of hundreds of Chicago residents that will die at the hand of gun violence in the remainder of the year. In this case, the political class insanity is fatal and dangerous for an entire city of people.

2) Let’s move from local political class insanity to state level political class insanity in California. It is no secret that the current governor and most of the current state politicians in California are so upset because Trump is enforcing existing immigration laws relative to illegal immigrants, a group of people that California politicians seem to idolize and coddle, often at the expense of the welfare and taxpayer dollars of tax paying California residents.

They certainly object to the fact that Trump promised to build a wall to restrict illegal immigration, and a lot of the crime that comes with it, and putting in place temporary travel bans on people traveling from a few terrorist infected countries, ticking off the California political class to no end. As with Rahm Emanuel in Chicago, that is certainly the prerogative of California politicians since they are duly elected representatives of the citizens of that state.

But consider what the governor and others in California are doing against their own citizens and then try to convince me that they are not hypocrites, taking the same type of actions that Trump is taking but perpetrating them on their own citizens and Americans:

According to a recent article on the American Daily Patriot website, California is imposing its own travel ban on its own citizens.
According to Samantha Roberts, writing on May 1, 2017, a new state law bans universities from sending students to states that oppose gay rights including California university students who travel to such states to present their research or participate in athletic contests.
Specifically, “The athletes have been told not to be too excited about competitions with teams from states like Kansas, Tennessee or North Carolina.”
The law applies to all California university students and staff regardless of their personalities or beliefs on gay rights.
“The LA Times reported that the new the new California law bans state-funded travel specifically to any state that the California attorney general lists as discriminating against the LGBT community.”
The law, for instance, has already scuttled the plans for the UC Berkeley and University of Kansas men's basketball teams to meet in a series of basketball games in future seasons.

Insanity? Has does punishing current California students and faculty in academics and athletics open up adult, mature conversations about the issues of our times? Do California politicians actually think that other states are going to change their laws and attitudes because a California professor cannot present his findings and research or an athletic team is banned from traveling to that state?

How is this not the height of hypocrisy, complaining about a temporary travel ban that Trump might place on the travel of non-citizens from a few countries that have known terrorist ties to a permanent law that bans innocent Americans from enriching themselves and others with travels to other states simply because those states and the residents of those states have a different opinion that an California politicians?

Disgusting and repugnant to affect innocent researchers, professors, and student athletes in a futile attempt to be holier than thou.
