December, 2018, Part 4, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: More Rebutting Of the Latest Major Global Warming Forecast

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in manmade global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of man made global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:

• Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
• Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
• Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control on our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.

Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaim.

1) Two posts ago we discussed the many, many failed predictions on global warming of Al Gore. In fact, Gore never came close to getting a prediction right whether it was the disappearance of the North Pole ice cap to the decimation of the polar bear population to many, many other disasters that never happened. In our previous posts, we showed how the latest Federal government prediction of climate disaster was highly unlikely to happen and was also based on shoddy research and data.

We will continue that discussion today on how maybe, just maybe the latest prediction has a whole bunch of holes in its assumption set and calculations. We start with an analysis from the Self Reliance Central website and their article by Kelly on November 29, 2018:

• According to an article that she quotes from the Climate Depot website, “The National Climate Assessment report as reviewed by the National Academy of Sciences, is basing one of its headline scare scenario(s) on a study funded by climate activist billionaire Tom Steyer.”
• If true, then this brings the unbiasedness of the whole study in question right off the top. 
• Climate scientist, Dr. Roger Pielke, recently stated that assertion of traumatic economic and personal damage from climate change “is based on a 15 degree F temperature increase that is double the ‘most extreme value reported elsewhere in the report.’ The ‘sole editor’ of this claim in the report was an alum of the Center for American Progress, which is also funded by Tom Steyer.”
• Another scientist, Climatologist Pat Michaels, claimed the latest government climate report is “systematically flawed” and goes even further, claiming that the entire report “should be shelved.”
• John P. Dunne, who is the head of the geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at Princeton University, and someone who is an expert in ocean biogeochemistry and who has been forecasting climate and Earth conditions for over two decades, colorfully stated that “Two years into the Trump administration it is sad to see this 400 page pile of crap.”
• Climate Depot founder, Marc Morano chimed in with his opinion: “It is a political report masquerading as science. The media is hyping a rehash of frightening climate change claims by Obama administration holdover activist government scientists. The new report is once again predetermined science. The “National Climate Assessment” report reads like a press release from environmental pressure groups - Because it is! Two key authors are longtime Union of Concerned Scientist activists, Donald Wuebbles and Katherine Hayhoe.”

Which is why I continue to be a believer in science and a global warming doubter because real scientists, like the ones listed above and the dozens of others we have cited in this blog, using real data and working with reality, continue to prove that man made global warming and climate change are appearing to be a myth more and more each day.

2) Let’s stay on topic but go to a recent rebuttal of this latest climate report, this one done by Nicolas Loris, writing for the Heritage Foundation:

• Mr. Loris is a trained economist who focuses on energy, environmental and regulatory issues.
• He also points out that the study was partially funded by Tom Steyers, a wealthy, well known global warming alarmist.
• He points out that the outlier climate scenario that the media has been hyping estimates that the country’s GDP would decrease 10%.
• But this decrease is more than twice the 5% decrease that occurred during the Great Recession, making the 10% estimate pretty shaky.
• The report says that the world will see its temperature increase 15 degrees Fahrenheit which is even higher than the worst case predicted by the global warming alarmists at the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change, further killing its validity.
• Apparently the scenario that the media and alarmists are pushing uses something called Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5.
• This set of assumptions assumes the worst case possible on every factor, a situation that is unlikely to happen. 
• This scenario assumes “the fastest population growth (a doubling of Earth’s population to 12 billion), the lowest rate of technology development, slow GDP growth, a massive increase in world poverty, plus high energy use and emissions.”
• In addition, this worst case but much hyped scenario assumes a massive increase in the use of coal around the world, does not take into account increased use of natural gas from shale, and ignores any technology advances from other energy sources.
• The worst case scenario also predicts more hurricanes, more floods, more heat waves, and more wildfires. 
• But these disasters have always been predicted by global warming alarmist forecasts and have never materialized so what makes us think that they will happen now, especially since we now know how weak the assumption set is? 
• Dr. Roger Pielke of the University of Colorado points out how bad the assumption set really is: “There were no increases in drought, no increases in frequency or magnitude of floods, no trends in frequency or intensity of hurricanes, and “low confidence for a detectable human climate change contribution in the Western United States based on existing studies.”
• Another intentional abuse of the data in the report is that the authors pick and choose data points in their graphs to prove their point, ignoring historical data that would upset their conclusions.

So the latest doomsday report from the government on man made global warming and climate change is more of the same myths:

• This forecast is supposed to be right even though every other previous gloom and doom forecast was wrong.
• Global warming will cause more hurricanes, tornadoes, more wildfires, more drought, etc. even though global warming has never caused these things.
• Data is being manipulated to show a preconceived conclusion rather than following the data to the correct conclusion and reality.
• Rich global warming alarmists will finance faux science if it gets the answer they want.

The media and people like Gore and Steyers do not want an honest conversation with scientists we have identified over the past few posts that bring science and experience to the discussion because it might destroy their man made global warming myth.

And the beat and myth go on.
