June, 2022, Part 3, Political Class Insanity: The Failed and Failing Biden Presidency and The Failure To Protect Lives In D.C.

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) We have purposely avoided talking a lot about the Biden administration for one simple reason: the political insanity and failures of this administration is on a par with or worse than any previous Presidential administration in our history. The failed pullout from Afghanistan, inflation rates not seen in 40 years, gas prices having doubled in less than a year and a half, violent crime skyrocketing across the country, thousands of illegal immigrants and drugs flooding over the border, etc.

And he may be on the verge of committing the worst and possibly most fatal decision of his Presidency:
  • Biden’s chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Miley, said that discussions are underway to possibly send U.S. combat troops to Ukraine.
  • This is despite Biden’s public promise that no U.S. troops would be sent into worn torn Ukraine.
  • Miley said troops might be sent in to protect the U.S. embassy in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.
  • Specifically, according to Miley: “Some of the things that may have been out there in the media, those are planning efforts that are underway at a relatively low level.”
Two problems with this kind of action. First, do we really think that a small contingent of U.S. troops would be able to defend themselves if the Russian army actually got into Kyiv? They would not stand a chance. Second, what signal does that send to Putin, who would probably view this action as a provocation and harden his resolve to push forward with his military actions? Insanity.

2) In a follow up to that first point, Miley announced that the U.S. currently has a whopping 102,000 troops stationed throughout Europe. Think about that number and some related numbers:
  • 102,000 service people in Europe, which is equivalent to taking the entire city of Clearwater, Florida’s population and sending them overseas and feeding them, clothing them, providing transportation for them, etc.
  • I have no idea how to find out what it costs to have a single service person overseas with the above expenses but let’s assume it is a nice, round number of $100,000 (to cover salary, food, shelter, transportation, etc.)
  • Which means that the American taxpayer is ANNUALLY paying about $10.2 billion a year to defend Europe.
  • There are about 130,000 K-12 schools in this country.
  • The average police officer in this country makes about $61,000 a year.
  • Which means if we could somehow redistribute that $10.2 billion a year away from defending far away lands and station one police officer in every one of those 130,000 schools, we could easily protect our kids with money left over, vs. spending it thousands and thousands of miles away while many of our schools have no protection against nut cases with guns.
Just a thought, just a different set of properties to discuss.

3) Obviously, unless you are still fixated on Trump, the Biden Presidency has been a failure any way you cut it:
  • Failed pullout of Afghanistan.
  • Inflation rates not seen in about 40 years.
  • Skyrocketing costs for gas and food.
  • Failure to deter Putin from invading Ukraine.
  • Baby formula crisis.
  • Supply chain crisis.
  • Failure to deter China from threatening Taiwan.
  • Illegal immigrants and illegal drug tonnage flooding across our borders, endangering the lives of every American.
  • All types of crime are skyrocketing across American cities., especially those that foolishly and inanely defunded their police forces.
  • His approval rating has cratered faster than any President in recent history.
A horrific record accomplished in just about a year and a half. And rather than be a leader, he has not held a press conference in over 100 days, an opportunity where he could show his leadership, show his courage, show his plans for fixing what he mostly broke. Rather, he is shielded by his staff and spends way too many days hiding out in Delaware rather than being upfront in front of the country.

And despite not having a press conference in well over three months, he recently decided to go on a late night comedy show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and kid around with Kimmel, possibly the furthest thing from a press conference, the furthest thing from Presidential leadership.

But having a press conference is probably not going to help his polling numbers or his standing with America of the press, given his past interactions with reporters:
  • He snapped at CBS’ Erin Barnett when asked if he was going to take a cognitive test back in 2020: “No, I haven’t taken a test. Why the hell would I take a test? Come on, man. That’s like saying to you, before you got on this program if you had taken a test were you taking cocaine or not. What do you think, huh? Are you a junkie?”
  • He jumped on Kaitlin Collins when she questioned him about Putin: “I’m not confident,” Biden said as he turned around and raised his voice. “What the hell, what do you do all the time? When did I say I was confident? What I said was … what will change their behavior is if the rest of the world reacts to them and it diminishes their standing in the world.”
  • He called Fox News reporter, Peter Doocy, a “stupid son of a b****” and he called another Fox news reporter “stupid.”
  • He went after RealClearNews’ Phillip Wegman for his “interesting reading of English” and accused the reporter of misrepresenting something he said.
Thus, the country is falling apart, he does not have press conferences, he would prefer to go the comedy route and unfortunately, even if he had a press conference, he would likely get belligerent and defensive and prove he has no plan for what he has broken. And that is pure, dangerous political class insanity.

4) We have often discussed the tenet that the very, very basic function of any government entity should be to protect the lives and properties of the citizens that it represents. If a government entity and the politicians running it cannot provide that basic government service, then any other success it has does not count if they cannot protect the citizenry.

That discussion usually focuses on the city of Chicago as its citizens have been under attack for years with thousands shot every year and hundreds killed. And the Chicago political class, despite passing stringent gun control laws, obviously has no idea how to stop the carnage or even mitigate it.

And apparently the political class in Washington DC is not much better than their counterparts in Chicago:
  • According to DC police, 79 people have already been murdered in Washington as of the end of May.
  • 45 of those murders remain unsolved with no arrests.
  • The 79 murders are six higher than the 73 that occurred in the same time frame in 2021, a year when the annual number of murders hit an 18 year high of 226.
  • Thus, 2022’s murder rate in the Capital is on track to beat last year’s high number.
  • As recently as 2017, the number of annual murders was 116 which means this year the rate will likely exceed the 116 in 2017 way before the end of the second quarter.
  • In fact, in 2012 there were only 88 murders committed the entire year which means that this year’s year-to-date total might have already exceeded the annual number 10 years ago.
Another political class entity, another failure to protect lives and property. Another example of how America’s political class, be it skyrocketing murders rates in cities or the continual multitude of failures at the national level, we are quite possibly living through the worst, most ineffective, most ragtag, set of politicians we have ever had to endure.

From baby formula shortages to failed foreign policies across the world to dangerous U.S. cities, the failures are wide, it is deep, and they are disgusting.
