We have spent a lot of time lately discussing the violent and sometimes fatal consequences of Biden’s failed immigration policies on American citizens. Let’s take a break from that sad reality and discuss some good old political class insanity:
1)We have previously discussed the scandal of how a FEMA supervisor admitted that she had told her employees not to help Americans after the devastating hurricanes a few months ago who had any type of “Trump For President” signs on their property. This is obviously a disgusting action where a government agency denied help to people who may have had a different political slant than those in Washington.
But FEMA whistleblowers have come forward to assert that this single supervisor was not alone in the abusive behavior towards Trump supporters:
FEMA management claimed that the supervisor who instructed her folks to skip Trump homes was an “isolated incident.”
But Congressional members have talked to whistleblowers who contend that this was not an isolated incident.
In a letter to FEMA management the Congressional members stated: “The Committee is requesting that you immediately open an investigation into the multiple allegations of the deliberate avoidance of homes with Trump campaign or political signs during the agency’s response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton”
In fact, the whistleblowers contend that whole neighborhoods devastated by the hurricanes were not served by FEMA: “In North Carolina, the Committee is aware of reports of FEMA employees skipping any home that displayed a ‘Make America Great Again,’ ‘Drain the Swamp,’ ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ or Trump campaign sign. If the FEMA field team encountered three or more of these signs, the field team could abandon the entire neighborhood without notifying hurricane victims of assistance available to them.”
These assertions are consistent with reports out of North Carolina areas wrecked by the storms that locals never saw FEMA people come to their aid.
Government corruption at its worst: using taxpayer money to ignore those who simply have been exercising their First Amendment rights, expressing opinions that do not sit right with Washigonto bureaucrats. Disgusting.
2)We have previously discussed at length how bad Biden’s failed border and immigration policies have been over the past four years. The failures include allowing well over 10 million unvetted and un-screeened people from around the world to enter the country including violent gang and cartel members, the of draining local and Federal government budgets to house, feed, and serve these millions of unemployed illegal immigrants, and the increase in violent crimes as a result of the failed immigration policies.
One of the most alarming and distressing outcomes of his failed policies is the admission by his administration that they have lost track of over 300,000 illegal immigrant children. Those children have entered the country and have gotten lost by the administration. They could be with friends and families but many of them, no doubt, have been taken by violent parties to be sex trafficked or put into sweatshops, doing forced labor, if not killed outright.
Very distressing that this has happened. However, even more distressing:
Apparently this failure to protect these kids is not a recent revelation to the Biden administration.
A briefing memo uncovered within the Department of Homeland Security from the summer of 2021 shows that the problem was identified over three years ago.
At that time, Secretary Alejandro Mayrokas was warned that the Department could not handle the surge of illegal immigrant adults and children which meant that it would be a challenge to unite the kids coming over the border with family members: “[The] Department of Homeland Security (DHS) does not have the necessary government authorities or resources for all that needs to be accomplished to reunify families within the scope of the Family Reunification Task Force,” Anna Hinken, an official in Homeland’s partnerships outreach office, wrote in the July 22, 2021 memo she prepared for Mayorkas as part of a planned call with a person whose name was redacted from the memo.
This condition resulted in over 300,000 illegal immigrant kids being lost through the system and meeting an unknown and potentially violent fate.
Accorisng to Michael Chamberlain, director of Protect the Public's Trust, the organizations that uncovered the briefing memos: “[As] we go through these documents, and as we were reading through them, we could just see the seeds of a disaster in the making. It was just evident to our eyes as we went through these conversations and they showed that…that they knew at the time that they weren't going to be able to carry this out.”
Congressional investigations also found that the Biden administration cut back on background checks and DNA testing when adults stepped up and claimed being a family member of an illegal immigrant child, possibly handing over kids to people that were not family members.
So the good news is that the Biden administration inside the Department of Homeland Security knew they had a lost child problem over three years ago. The bad news is they did nothing to fix it, and in some cases increased the danger and safety of illegal immigrant kids. And they have now lost over 300,000 children to places and people unknown.
3)Incompetence is not restricted to Washington political circles. The governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, also has presented us with very interesting ineptness examples:
Previously we have more than once described quotes and attitudes from Hochul where she publicly asked that Republicans, conservatives, and independent voters leave New York state since they had a different opinion than Hochul on any number of issues.
Rather than serve ALL state citizens, including those that have a different opinion than her, rather than serving all citizens equally, rather trying to unify the state’s citizens for the common good, she simply told these opposing folks to go live somewhere else.
Given this childish attitude, it is no secret why New York is one of the states where out migration of citizens is draining the state of taxpaying citizens and, in our opinion, is one of the most likely state candidates to be the first state to go bankrupt.
Given this horrible leadership performance, it is no surprise that Hochul’s latest idiocy is no surprise:
New York state has the highest state/local tax burden of any state in the union, about 12% of income, one of the main reasons why so many state citizens and businesses are leaving for other states.
Given that the average household income in the state is about $81,000, on average, the average household in the state is paying about $9,700 in taxes a year to the state and local governments.
Rather than understanding the root problem of how high taxes are leading to this out migration of tax dollars and causing strains on family budgets, she is pushing a plan to give lower and middle income a one time stimulus worth anywhere from $300 to $500: “Now we’re returning that cash back to middle-class families” and “to help millions of hard-working New Yorkers.”
Thus, Hochul’s state government on average is taking in about $9,700 from the average state household every year and she thinks that giving them back at most $500 is a good thing and state residents should be grateful
$500 check on $9,700 comes out to a one time rebate worth about 5%, hardly enough to overcome the high tax burden and Biden’s inflationary economic failures.
Viewed another way, $500 comes out to less than $1.40 a day for a state household.
And yet, she thinks she is doing everyone a big favor with this one time pitiful check. Rather than working to reduce the size of government in her state, making it more efficient and more effective, she threw the state taxpayers less than $1.40 a month. And she thinks this is great…talk about being out of touch with the struggles of her voters.
4)But Hochul’s economic illiteracy is not confined to token rebate programs:
As background, know that the New York City transit system and subways are crumbling from old age.
Thus, there is a dire need to upgrade the entire mass transit system in the city but the question is how to fund such a massive undertaking.
Someone in the government came up with the grand idea to impose a $15 toll on every vehicle coming into Manhattan during certain times of the day to put the burden of financing the system upgrade on non-New York citizens and commuters under the banner of “congestion pricing.”
Hochul had temporarily stopped the implementation of the program in the summer so that her fellow politicians would not face any heat from the plan during their election campaigns.
Once the elections were over, she allowed the congestion pricing toll plan to go ahead but not at $15 but at $9.
She then bragged that she had okayed the toll plan and wasn’t she great that she was saving people 40% on a toll that was never implemented in the first place, i.e. the original $15 per car toll is now “only $9” under her plan, a 40% reduction.
In other words, commuters would have paid on average an additional $3750 a year to enter the city but she is saving them $1,500 a year because of her 40% reduction.
In reality, she could have saved commuters $3,750 a year by not implementing the toll at all. This is like the old benevolent mobster joke: a mobster breaks both of your knee caps and then offers you a discount on a wheelchair purchase. But you would not have had to buy a wheelchair at all if they had not busted your kneecaps to begin with.
Enough insanity for today: a governor that has minimal economic sense, Biden has lost over 300,000 kids, and FEMA is a corrupt government failure.
