There is a lot going on in the world: Obama and Russiagate findings, Middle East powder keg, the Russian/Ukrainian war, etc. But through all this, the American political class continues to constantly deliver its own special brand of insanity, stupidity, wasteful taxpayer spending, and ineffective government programs.
1)We have often stated that the primary function and objective of any government entity is to protect the lives and property of the citizens they serve. Additionally, we have continually pointed out that the city government of Chicago and the politicians that operate that city government always fail horribly in fulfilling this basic government tenet:
Over Labor Day weekend, 8 city citizens were killed by gunfire and over 50 were shot.
Unfortunately, every weekend in Chicago sees death and wounding of residents by the violent crime that pervades the city.
The ages of the fatalities ranged from 14 to 50 years old.
And yet, the state governor, JB Pritzer, and city mayor, Brandon Johnson, refuse to accept law reinforcement help from the Trump administration.
Instead, they have tried to brand Trump’s offer as racist, unConstitutional and a myriad of other excuses for their failure.
In addition, Johnson actually terminated a program called ShotSpotter that alerted police if gun fire was detected in the city to speed police arrivals at a potential crime scene.
Pritzker and Johnson would rather resist Federal help to get the crime under control and while they dither, their citizens continue to get killed and wounded, failing in the basic responsibility of a government entity.
2)Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is a member of Congress and an immigrant from Somalia. Obviously, this is the American dream to go from an immigrant from a poor country to serving in Congress and earning $174,000 a year in Congressional salary.
However, there have been accusations that she is much wealthier than she claims she is. Thus, to counter these accusations, she recently urged her critics to examine her “public financial statements” which the Washington Free Beacon actually did:
She publicly claimed that she was a target of a “coordinated right wing disinformation campaign” regarding her financial condition and that she is not wealthy.
She is married to a gentleman named Tim Mynett.
Mynett operates a consulting firm that Omar paid $2.9 million to in campaign funds for her reelection, mixing personal and business affairs into one melting pot.
In one sense this is called money laundering.
This is similar to the stunt that Congresswoman Maxine Walters has been doing for years, funneling campaign funds to her daughter for “consulting” services.
Thus, Omar's claim that she is not wealthy is probably not an accurate statement given her marriage status to someone she has funneled millions of dollars to.
Nice work if you can get it, something that more than a few members of Congress work at: self enrichment while the country suffers through any number of big problems and issues.
3)One of our most popular posts in this blog hypothesized that while Republicans voted for Trump back in 2016 it was liberals in the media, politics and show business that got him elected. And that hateful venom and language continues today, recently from the Democratic governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz:
Trump went absent over the Labor Day holiday weekend to refresh and be with family, something that tens of millions of American families did.
It is called a long weekend vacation.
Liberals went conspiracy crazy, claiming that since this is the first time that Trump was not seen for three consecutive days he must be deathly ill or dead.
Common decency did not prevent Walz from jumping into the false narrative.
At a Labor Day event, Walz stated: “The last few days, you woke up thinking there might be news.”
This was a sneaky and disgusting way of hoping that Trump had expired.
Democrats have not learned: spewing hate and hateful rhetoric got Trump elected in the first place and America is tired of the same old, useless and immature behaviors of ineffective and shallow politicians.
4)Back during the George Floyd riots and upheaval, liberal politicians went crazy for the failed principle of "defund the police,” incorrectly assuming and posturing that it was the police forces and officers across the country who were responsible for burning down cities and rioting. These liberals constantly bad-mouthed honest, hardworking, and dedicated police officers.
And unfortunately, the cities where politicians were the biggest advocates for defunding the police resulted in ever escalating crime and violence against its law abiding citizens, likely because of the following statistics:
The Chicago police force has lost over 1550 police officers since 2020.
The Baltimore police force is 500 police officers smaller, a whopping 20% of the force.
The Los Angeles police force is over 1,100 officers smaller since 2020.
New York City’s police force is smaller by almost 2,500 officers since five years ago.
In some desperate California cities, the local governments are offering $100,000 for anyone able to become a police officer in their city.
Thus, it should not be a surprise crime is rampaging in these above cities since there are thousands and thousands fewer police officers on the street to enforce law and order.
Joe Gamaldi of the National Fraternal Order of Police summed up the law enforcement crisis quite nicely:: "Police officers aren’t stupid. They realize that their far-left city councils and mayors will throw them under the bus at any opportunity. People were burning [police] in effigy while politicians and talking heads celebrated the chaos.”
We predicted back years ago that insulting and demeaning honest hardworking police officers was going to result in higher and higher crime rates. And that prediction has come true. Thus, for a some minor political grandstanding, the residents in these cities are suffering the consequences of the shortsighted actions of politicians, resulting in death, rapes, and other forms of violent crime.
Enough insanity for today: defunding the police reaches a crisis level, Chicago is still violent, another member of Congress gets wealthy, and another Democrat goes down the violent rhetoric rat hole.
