A number of recent news events raised the topic in my mind of government employees and politicians and the lies they create, perpetuate, and force on the country. These lies cover economic, medical, and environmental lies. They are put forth with straight faces by those telling them, raising that age old question: do these folks actually believe the lies they tell or do they think we are too stupid to find out and understand if their assertions are true or not?
Let’s check out the latest lies and myths that they have floated over the years:
1)Let’s go back to the days when Obama Care was being developed and passed as legislation. Remember when those of us that expressed our doubts about how that legislation would not resolve the country’s health care issues were met with some very vicious and demeaning rebuttals to our views:
Democrat Speaker Of The House Nancy Pelosi called opponents to Obama Care unpatriotic for simply having a difference of opinion with many politicians in Washington including herself.
Democrat Charles Rangel slandered millions of ordinary Americans who opposed Obama Care by calling them racists for simply having an honest difference of opinion with many politicians in Washington.
Democrat Shelia Lee Jackson slandered ordinary Americans who opposed Obama Care by associating them with the Ku Klux Klan,
Democrat Alan Grayson called those opposed to Obama Care knuckle dragging Neanderthals.
Let’s fast forward to today:
According to a recent large-scale survey from the Kaiser Foundation, health care costs in the past year were up 6% after rising 7% in each of the two previous years.
All of these increases were larger than the overall inflation rate and the growth in wages in those years.
Thus, it does not look like Obama Care’s objective to “bend the cost curve downwards" was not met if the rate of health care spending and costs are rising faster than inflation and wage growth.
About 25-26 million Americans do not currently have health insurance coverage according to an analysis by the Kaiser Foundation.
Thus, another Obama promise, that EVERY American would be able to get and afford health insurance under Obama Care, has proven to be false.
It appears that those of that were called unpatriotic, racists, KKK members, and knuckle dragging Neanderthals for simply having doubts about a government program actually turned out to be right: costs have not gone down, coverage has not gone up, and things are getting worse since part of the current government shutdown is because the failure of Obama Care is requiring more and more taxpayer subsidies to stay afloat.
In other words, those that supported Obama Care lied to us and used derision, and insults to cover up their lies. The problem is very simple: Obama tried to implement an economic based solution to a public health problem, using a hammer when he should have been using a screwdriver, it was doomed from the start.
The underlying problem with high health care costs in this country involves a number of factors: Americans eat too much, they eat too much of the wrong types of food, they do not exercise enough, and they smoke too much. By not fixing those underlying causes you cannot fix the overall cost problem.
Consider the informed opinion of Dr. Delose Cosgrove, formerly the CEO of the Cleveland Clinic:
In our current health care industry there is no incentive for staying well.
Obesity in America accounts for 10% of all health care costs.
Smoking, diet, and lack of exercise, according to Dr. Cosgrove, contribute to 40% of premature deaths in this country, 70% of chronic diseases such as heart disease, and accounts for 75% of the nation's total health care.
Thus, the American public was led astray down the faux Obama Care path: it did not resolve any of the health care issues facing the country despite the ravings of Democrats. But we knew this back in 2010 when we predicted exactly what would happen if Obama Care passed:

Which brings us full circle back to the above hypothesis: were politicians of that timeframe too stupid to know they were not going to resolve anything or did they know but thought we were too stupid to question their assertions?
2)The Trump administration raised some hackles, mostly with liberals and Democrats, several months ago when they asserted that pain reliever Tylenol may have negative impacts if taken by pregnant women, specifically that there might be a link between Tylenol consumption during pregnancy and autism. However, it appears that various government people and politicians actually knew for a long time that there was at least a hazy connection between using Tylenol and causing autism:
Apparently, the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had in its possession scientific reviews from 2016, 2019 and 2022 along with two memos from two different divisions within the FDA that warned of a possible link between Tylenol, pregnancy, and autism.
None of this information was shared with the public or doctors, specifically pregnant Americans regarding the potential danger of taking Tylenol.
In late 2016, FDA senior medical officer, Adrew Mosholder, finished his review of eight studies, with seven showing at least an association between Tylenol like products and attention deficits, delayed motor skill development, and autistic behaviors.
He recommended that the FDA issue a warning that Tylenol should be used rarely if at all given that there was possibly some kind of link between usage and autism, a recommendation that was not heeded.
We could go on with further examples over time when the FDA lied about what might be going on with Tylenol but took no action but you get the idea: the government sat on information that may have negatively impacted an untold number of American families. By lying in this case, we are assuming not telling the truth or sharing available information is the same as lying.
The complete history of this negligence can be found at the following link:

3)Let’s stay in the medical field for this classic quote dropped on the American public by Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s lead point man on the covid epidemic:
“When you get vaccinated, you not only protect your own health and that of the family but also you contribute to the community health by preventing the spread of the virus throughout the community. In other words, you become a dead end to the virus. And when there are a lot of dead ends around, the virus is not going to go anywhere. And that’s when you get a point that you have a markedly diminished rate of infection in the community.”
Let’s be honest, it did not quite work out that way:
I had the first two vaccination doses and still got covid … twice.
My wife got the first two vaccinations and booster shots and got covid.
A good friend of mine got the first two vaccinations and all of the booster shots and caught covid four times.
I could go on and on about my personal experiences with friends and family that got the vaccines and boosters and still got the virus.
I would bet anyone reading this also can tell stories of how the Fauci promise above was either wrong, a trait you do not want in a person in charge of the nation’s health, or he was lying, knowing full well that the vaccine was basically useless for everyone except drug companies that got rich on taxpayer wealth.
4)On last example for today:
I have lived in Florida for twenty years and have had my share of hurricanes.
During that time, I and millions of others were constantly told by politicians and government scientists and agencies that global warming would make those hurricanes more frequent, more intense, and more destructive unless we surrendered trillions of tax dollars and personal freedom to prevent the impending weather disasters.
People like Al Gore got even more famous and wealthier by predicting that dire climate changes will increase the severity of hurricanes and other bad weather.
Barack Obama agreed to a multi-national climate agreement that was created at a Paris climate summit during his term to combat the growing threat of catastrophic weather and its increasing frequency, all of which would require American taxpayers to pay more for every type of energy.
But guess what: in 2025, two decades after Hurricane Katrina kicked off a hand-wringing epidemic across the country by global warming advocates, my state of Florida experienced absolutely no hurricanes this year. No hurricanes, no tropical depressions, no tropical storms ... nothing. And it was not like we had any near misses either. No weather disruptions at all.
Which brings us back to the old question: did politicians and other government officials really believe that we were headed for climate disaster when they asked to control our lives and wealth in the name of global warming or did they just want to control our lives and think we were too stupid to understand they were leading us on?
Which brings us full circle to the reality that government officials and politicians are wrong or lying more often than they are right or telling the truth. In the meantime, our taxes, our lives and our futures can change dramatically for the wrong reason: did these folks actually believe the information they were espousing or did they think we were too stupid to understand they were lying?
