December, 2019, Part 6, Political Class Insanity: Hillary Sees Russians Everywhere, Elizabeth Warren's Failed Math Skills, and CNN Continues to Commit Integrity Suicide

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) First, Hillary Clinton and the Democrats accused Trump of being a secret Russian agent. The country spent about $30 million on the Robert Mueller investigation and found out that Trump was not a Russian agent. Then Clinton accused fellow Democrat and Democratic Presidential candidate, Tulsi Gabbard, of being a Russian agent without providing any evidence to support this accusation. Gabbard rebutted and admonished Clinton for making this baseless accusation.

Clinton is still at it, apparently seeing Russians behind every tree. In a recent Howard Stern interview she asserted that the Russians have said, “let’s do everything we can to elect Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.” Again, I am not aware that she provided any proof that the Russians were colluding with Sanders, I guess we are supposed to take her word for it.

But later on in the interview you get why she is slandering Sanders. She complains that Sanders “hurt her.” She followed that up with, “I hope he doesn’t do it again to whoever gets the nomination.” It seems that she is still bitter about losing not only to Trump but she blames Sanders for undercutting her. And thus, she brands him as a Russian agent as revenge for him daring to oppose her.

As far as Gabbard is concerned, maybe Clinton is envious of another Democratic woman besides herself becoming the first woman President. Whatever the case, her infatuation with branding everyone a Russian agent is sad and dangerous since if there ever is an American politician who is actually a Russian agent, we probably will not believe it since Hillary played the Chicken Little/Russian agent card too often based on nothing.

2) We have often shown examples of the many skills that most politicians lack: logic, economic training, project management, etc. Elizabeth Warren recently illustrated another skill that politicians lack, basic math skills:

• Warren has been running around the country promising a lot of free stuff to voters and vowing to enact a whole slew of government operated programs and processes in an attempt to appeal to liberals and socialists in this country, most socialists.
• This free stuff includes Medicare For All, the New Green Deal, forgiving college debt, free college tuition, etc. 
• The obvious question is how Warren would pay for all of these socialism goodies since nothing is free in life.
• Most estimates of the Medicare for All idea would be an increment $3.2 TRILLION a year in government spending, the cost of forgiving college debt would be $1.6, and the cost of the New Green Deal could be another $1 TRILLION a year bringing just these three promises to about $44 TRILLION over ten years.
• Keep those numbers in mind when you consider what Warren recently said at a National Education Association meeting when questioned how she would fund additional educational programs.
• She answered by flippantly and ignorantly stating that “there’s always money. It’s there.”
• She seems to think that she owns all of our wealth and it is at her disposal to do as she pleases.
• She also seems to think that there is no end to the amount of wealth there is in this country, a completely ignorant economic position.
• She went on to say that she would change budget priorities to fund her pipe dreams including reducing the defense budget.
• Now, while the defense budget should probably be reduced, given how much money the Pentagon wastes every year, let’s do some math to show how out of touch Warren is with mathematics reality.
• The annual Pentagon budget is about $700 billion every year.
• If she reduced the Pentagon budget by 100%, something that is impossible and stupid to do, she would free up about $7 TRILLION for her freebies and other socialism projects over the next ten years.
• But we just showed how over ten years she would need $44 TRILLION to fund just three of her pet programs.
• Thus, reducing the Defense Department budget to $0 would still leave her $37 TRILLION short of her needed funding or about 84% short of her funding needs.
• To fill this $37 TRILLION hole every American citizen, men, women, and kids would have to pay about $115,000 EACH to get the funding she needs or about $11,5000 a year for ten year per person. 
• Thus, a family of four would have to pay $46,000 a year.
• And this would leave us without any armed forces at all.
• If she reduced the Pentagon budget by 10%, a more realistic assumption, she would be over $43 TRILLION short of her needed funding.

As you can see, we are in the ridiculous arena of math calculations. But that is because her program ideas and the needed funding are ridiculous. Do none of these people have any logic or math skills? And even if they do not have these basic skills, is there no one on their staffs that can point out how stupid these ideas are? Scary that these types of people are trying to run the country.

3) We have often pointed out how important a free, unbiased press is in a democracy and for liberty of a nation’s citizens. And we have also lamented how the free press and the journalism profession in this country has failed miserably in this important responsibility. Most mainstream news outlets in this country lean heavily in favor of the left side of the spectrum, so much so that poll after poll show that the American public realize how biased and dangerous such bias is:

• Recent Pew Research found that respondents felt that journalists behave unethically almost always or sometimes 66% of the time.
• Recent Gallup research shows that only 23% of respondents felt that they only had a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in newspapers.

Which shows that we really do not trust the people/”journalists” that are bringing us the news today. But that is also a good news story in that we at least know we are not being fed the truth in an unbiased way and that good news has manifested itself in the recent crash of CNN ratings, a news institution that was once felt to be trustworthy, a time that has long passed:

• CNN’s TV ratings have recently hit a multi-year low.
• Over Thanksgiving weekend, in the important 25-64 demographic, CNN hit a three year new low in ratings, according to Nielsen Media Research.
• In total, CNN averaged only 620,000 viewers every night over that weekend.
• This put their performance below other cable networks including AMC, the Food Network, and the Hallmark Channel.
• Thus, there is a very good chance that the biased reporting of CNN often lost out to Cupcake Wars on the Food Channel or they fell below a hokey Christmas movie on the Hallmark channel.
• At the same time, Fox News had more than three times as many viewers, two million, and MSNBC had more than twice as many than CNN.

Again, this is a double edged sword. On one hand, CNN and other mainstream news outlets have failed the American people and their own industry’s integrity and trust standards with their biased and skewed news reporting. This has endangered our democracy and freedoms since a free, unbiased press has always been an anti-tyranny bastion. 

The good news is that a good many Americans have realized that CNN and others are not really journalism outlets anymore as much as they are biased ratings machines, truth be damned. We can only hope that at some point in time real journalism returns to this country as opposed to what the likes of CNN is now propagating.

That will do it for today: in Hillary’s world everyone is a Russian agent, In Elizabeth Warren’s world basic math laws math are suspended, and in the news world, CNN’s integrity and trust continue to plummet as their reporting becomes more and more skewed.

December, 2019, Part 5, Political Class Insanity: The Failure That Is Afghanistan, Ocasio-Cortez Takes Her Gaffes and Anti-Israel Gaffes International and A Democrat For President Gets Punked

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Often times the race to be the Democratic Presidential candidate for 2020 reminds me of a clown car. A bunch of clownish figures that run around making fools of themselves in an attempt to get our attention. It would be funny if it were not so scary to think that one of these folks might actually run for President.

One of the strangest candidates is a so-called self help guru, Marianne Williamson. To my knowledge she has never held elected office. To my knowledge she is not a dynamic and successful business person. To my knowledge she is not trained in law, economics, or international policy, traits that one might want in a President.

And based on a recent gaffe, she seems to not be real thorough when it comes to stating as fact something that is impossible:

• She recently believed a fake news story that stated that Trump had pardoned mass murderer Charles Manson.
• Problem is that Charles Manson died in 2017 so that Trump could not have pardoned him to give him his freedom and he did not even pardon him posthumously.
• She wrote to her Twitter followers that “there is something deeply sinister about Trump pardoning Charles Manson, even posthumously.”
• The theory is that she picked up this information that was originally published on a known satirical website called MoronMajority and the story was then picked by the Daily Kos, a left wing website that did not label the story as satire.

After she got lambasted on twitter she took the initial Manson Tweet down, offered a half ass apology and then took the apology down.

Seriously, in this age of instant information access, she could not have done two minutes of research before making a fool of herself? If she is so easily fooled by an idiotic Internet story like this, how easily would Putin, Kim, and the rest of the world fool her and take advantage of her if she was President? Lord help us. 

2) Not happy displaying her ignorance on a whole range of topics in this country, our favorite political gaffe machine Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex decided that she should display her ignorance on the international stage as well. She recently Twitter endorsed and supported the leader of the British labor party Jeremy Corbyn in advance of national elections over in England:



Let’s start off with the reality that she really has no business sticking her nose in the elections of a foreign country, it is not appropriate and she probably has no value to add to that election. But more importantly, think about what she is endorsing:

• The National Review recently listed out the strong anti-Semitism history of Corbyn.
• He once invited members of Hamas and Hezbollah, sworn terror enemies of Israel, to the British Parliament as “friends.”
• He was paid about $27,000 to appear on Iranian Press TV, a country that is the worst terrorist nation in the world.
• He once falsely asserted that Israel was involved in a terror attack in Egypt.
• In 2014 he went to Tunisia to celebrate the murder of eleven Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics.
• He once compared Israel to Nazi Germany.
• He has attended events hosted by Deir Yassin Remembered, a group operated by Holocaust denier Paul Eisen.

This is the kind of person that Ocasio-Cortez is supporting. Rather than focus on taking care of her NYC constituents and the affairs of this country, she pokes her nose into foreign affairs, where she has no stake or knowledge, and supports a hateful, anti-Israel foreign politician. Sad, sad set of priorities.3) We have often reported on the disaster that is Afghanistan from a financial and wasting of tax payer wealth. It is also obvious that militarily this has not been a success since 18 years into the affair we are still mired down in a no win situation.And now the Washington Post has reported on how the past three Presidential administrations have been a total failure in this endeavor:

• The Washington Post recently reported on as massive trove of documents that illustrate how many government officials felt that the war in Afghanistan has been a failure even though they had publicly proclaimed that it was going well.
• Douglas Lute, who served both Bush and Obama and is a retired three star Army general had this opinion in 2015: "We were devoid of a fundamental understanding of Afghanistan — we didn't know what we were doing. What are we trying to do here? We didn't have the foggiest notion of what we were undertaking.”
• He continued: "If the American people knew the magnitude of this dysfunction ... 2,400 lives lost. Who will say this was in vain?"
• Yes, over 2,000 American lives lost, over 20,000 U.S.soldiers wounded, over 700,000 troops having been deployed in the country, almost a trillion dollars spent and we have basically nothing to show for it.
• According to the Post, Bush, Obama and now Trump "have been unable to deliver on their promises to prevail in Afghanistan."
• All told, since 2001, the Pentagon, the State Department and the U.S.Agency for International Development have likely spent between $934 and $978 billion in the country. 
• Jeffrey Eggers, a retired Navy SEAL told government interviewers in the documents: "What did we get for this $1 trillion effort? Was it worth $1 trillion? After the killing of Osama bin Laden [in 2011], I said that Osama was probably laughing in his watery grave, considering how much we have spent on Afghanistan.”

Another example, a very, very gross and expensive example, of how the American political class does very few things well and far more often than not does many things horribly and expensively bad. Which is why our desire is for politicians and the government bureaucracies they overlook to do very few things and do them well rather than do a lot of things and do them horribly bad. The Afghanistan disaster is probably one of the grossest examples of government ineptness and it cost the country dearly in lives and wealth.That will do it for today: a gullible Presidential candidate, an ant-Semitic NYC politician and a massive and expensive government failure in Afghanistan.

December, 2019, Part 4, Political Class Insanity: Politicians Who Should Be Seen and Not Heard and The Continuing Greed of Those Who Serve In Office

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Freshman Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has shown herself to be anti-Israel any number of times in the past two years. Her disgust with Israel has been well documented and we will not go into her statements and actions supporting her hatred at this time.

So her behavior after the recent slaughter of Jewish Americans in Jersey City, New Jersey was certainly surprising, crazy and at the end of the day bigoted:

• According to Alicia Luke, writing for the Freedom Outpost website on December 12, 2019, Tlaib tweeted and blamed “white supremacy” for the murders for the three Jewish Americans, and a Jersey City policeman.
• Specifically: “This is heartbreaking. White supremacy kills,” the Michigan Democrat wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
• Her sympathy was initially surprising given her past disgust with the Jewish state.
• It would seem that maybe she had a change of heart but that was probably not the case.
• Rather then opportunity to make peace with the Jewish state, she immediately tried to leverage the dead Americans to support her faux outrage at the myth of white supremacy.
• You see, white folks did not commit the violence and murders, two African Americans committed the atrocities, a reality that did not fit Tlaib’s knee jerk reaction to spread hate about the races in this country.
• As soon as she realized that her desire for headlines and an opportunity foment white supremacy made her look like an ill-informed idiot she deleted the tweet.

This is how low the leadership has fallen in D.C. A politician immediately assumes the worst in order to fit it into her dialog of dividing the races in this country and she opens her mouth without doing even basic research into the reality of a situation. And she makes a fool of herself while families in Jersey City are in the beginning stages of mourning the loss of their loved ones, Tlaib did not even have the human decency to remain quiet for a grieving period. Disgusting.

2) But Tlaib is not the only freshman Congresswoman opening her mouth and espousing idiocy. Our favorite politician gaffe machine, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, somehow put her foot in her mouth again:

• Trump has been trying to clean up the scandalous food stamp program that while it does a good thing in helping struggling American families to put food on the table for their families, it has been riddled with scandal and fraud as people fleece the system and the American taxpayer.
• Trump has proposed changes to the system that would reduce the taxpayer risk and make sure that only people who deserve the food support get it.
• It is estimated that upwards of 700,000 people currently milking the system for food support would lose that opportunity to rip off the system.
• But as with Tlaib above, Ocasio-Cortex did another knee jerk reaction as a result of her hatred for Trump.
• And has a result of talking without knowing and/or understanding what Trump was trying to do, she looks like a vain and hateful person.
• She tweeted out the following fallacy: “My family relied on food stamps (EBT) when my dad died at 48. I was a student. If this happened then, we might’ve just starved. Now, many people will. It’s shameful how the GOP works overtime to create freebies for the rich while dissolving lifelines of those who need it most.”
• But this assertion is so false since according to the rule that Trump is pushing, the restrictions and reductions would apply to able bodied adults between the ages of 18 and 49 who DO NOT have dependents and does not apply to parents with minor children, the elderly, or the disabled.

In other words if you are a stand alone adult without kids, are not elderly and not disabled, you are going to have to get off your duff and get a job in order to eat. Millions of American taxpayers go to work every day in order to eat, there is no reason why able bodied adults should not do the same.

For Ocasio-Cortez to say that many Americans will starve to death because of Trump is nothing more than a fallacy, a denial of reality, and more childish hatred towards Trump. As always with Ocasio-Cortez, she should again consider the following piece of advice: It is better to remain silent and thought ignorant than to speak up and remove all doubt. Ocasio-Cortez and just about every other politician in D.C should consider this advice.

3) We recently discussed the rather distasteful reality that Obama now owns three homes worth in excess of $25 million: an estate on Martha’s Vineyard, a home in an exclusive D.C. neighborhood, and another luxury home in California. This is quite amazing since Obama earned only $400,000 a year as President, before taxes, and his wife was a housewife. Both of their careers prior to the White House did not include million dollar salaries nor do they have massive family inheritances.

Thus, we were forced to wonder how the former First Family is not only able to afford three grand homes but also pay the maintenance, property taxes, and utility costs that accompany these properties. And now we may know how he does it:

• During his administration Obama actively pushed the so-called Common Core education process, a process that we accurately predicted would be a disaster for the country and which is now basically defunct despite billions of taxpayer dollars wasted on the effort.
• Wherever Common Core was adopted, test scores and learning progress plunged.
• Fast forward and we find out that Obama got a whopping $65 million book deal from Penguin Random House Publishing.
• Pearson Publishing received a $350 million contract during the Obama administration to publish Common Core educational materials.
• Nothing shady here until you realize that Pearson Publishing and Penguin Random House are corporate relatives.
• Pearson and a company called Bertelsmann are joint owners of Penguin Random House which we just said gave Obama the ridiculous book deal.

So, the obvious question is: did Pearson/Bertelsmann/Penguin Random House have a quid pro quo deal with Obama, Pearson gets the $350 million Common Core contract and Obama gets a sweetheart book deal from Penguin Random House? The appearance of a conflict of interest is often just as bad as a real conflict of interest and this “arrangement” certainly fits that description.

Combining this Obama “deal” with the reality that Joe Biden has made over $15 million since leaving office, the whole stench of politicians getting obscenely wealthy while providing little to benefit society just smells more and more. Politics is no longer about serving the country and its citizens, it is about making oneself richer and richer. From the mega bucks Nancy Pelosi’s machinations relative to the Visa IPO to Ocasio-Cortez complaining she is overpaid despite living in a luxury apartment, getting $300 haircuts and wearing designer clothes, the greed of the American political class has never been so intense or so obvious while its ability to resolve real issues and problems has never been so low.

So today’s insanity included two politicians who do not know when to just be quiet, or at least speak AFTER they have the facts, and the gross corruption and greed of politicians both while in office and after they leave office.

December, 2019, Part 4, Political Class Insanity: Portland Politicians Failing the Homeless, Joe Biden Wants to Fight An American, Biden Supports The Confederacy, and Ocasio-Cortez Goes Delusional....Again

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Liberals and Democrats always consider themselves as pure of heart and defenders of the disadvantaged. I would say this is a mirage since they are politicians, and in my opinion there are very few of them that are pure of heart and most could care less for anyone that cannot help their careers.

But they are always quick to pounce on anyone that they consider not pure of heart especially if it is politically advantageous to them. Thus, it should be interesting to see how they react to their leading candidate for President, Joe Biden, and some interesting video that has been recently uncovered. 

The Daily Wire website recently discussed that a video clip from 1993 could be quite embarrassing for Joe Biden. In that clip Biden compliments a pro-Confederacy war group, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, saying they were “an organization made up of many fine people who continue to display the Confederate flag.” 

I cannot imagine the faux outrage the Democrats and liberals would have worked up if this video clip featured Trump or any other non-liberal politician. Given that many on the left side of the political spectrum these days finds racism everywhere when it does not involve them, I expect that the hypocrisy of Biden and others will be amazing.

2) When politicians have no idea how to resolve a problem or issue they usually come up with “solutions” that make the original issue even worse. This was recently illustrated up in Portland. Portland is one of several major western cities that have allowed the homelessness problem in their city get out of control.

Rather than fixing the problem, the politicians in the city decided that it was a better idea to force private property owners to fix the homeless problem:

• According to a Daily Wire report, “Portland wants private property owners to add ‘mandatory rest spaces’ for the homeless.”
• Yes, rather than resolve the issue, force private citizens and private businesses to at least alleviate the problem that they cannot resolve.
• A Portland city commission wants to change the city’s building codes to force private property owners to build their buildings to accommodate the city’s homeless population.
• This commission writes and enforces the city’s building codes.
• The commission wants the construction to have “opportunities to rest and be welcome.”
• Thus, if the commission gets its way, anyone could loiter, sleep or camp on private property.
• As it often happens, when a politician cannot resolve a problem they start trying to fool us with different words to take attention. 
• This is what is happening in Portland since in that city homeless folks are “unhoused” and they are “underserved” by the city’s housing public housing.

I feel so bad for anyone for any reason does not have their own roof over their head, however they define that roof. But forcing private citizens to do the job that the politicians cannot do regarding housing for the homeless is a cop out. Obviously these politicians are not worthy of handling the tax dollars of hard working citizens in finding the root causes of the homeless in their city and then attacking the root causes, i.e. do their job.

3) My perception of a leader is someone who can stay calm and mature under pressure, someone who rises above the trivial and focuses on the big issues and problems, someone who respects others. In a recent encounter Joe Biden had with an ordinary American, he was none of those things:

• During a campaign stop in Iowa, a regular American citizen asked Biden about his son’s dealings in the Ukraine, a topic that has become quite popular recently.
• Biden did not take the question graciously.
• During the exchange, he ended up calling the American citizen a “damn liar” and “fat.”
• He actually challenged the man, who was a senior citizen, to a push up contest and an IQ test.
• He ends the exchange by telling the citizen that he is”too old to vote for me [Biden].”

If, God forbid, Biden ever gets elected President, is this the type of juvenile behavior we want in the White House? What happens when Putin or Kim give him grief, is he going to challenge them to a push up contest? What happens when he has to handle a terrorist situation, challenge them to an IQ test or call them fat? Just another example where Biden in particular and politicians in general are not calm, mature, focused on the big issues, or respective of others.

4) First term Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has probably taken up way too much space in this blog with her ignorance and delusions about reality and basic knowledge in a full range of subjects where she has offered her opinion and always been shown to be so out of touch. Her most recent excursion into delusion was recently reported when she insisted that she was right to force Amazon to NOT locate a headquarters in her Congressional district, a move that would have brought great wealth and opportunities to her constituents. Her latest embarrassment of herself started with a tweet:

• According to reporting by the Washington Free Beacon, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that HER effort fast tracked the early arrival of an HIV medicine to the market.
• In reality, a corporate decision to bring such drugs to market was made FOUR YEARS before she was elected to Congress.
• Yet, she claimed that she “took on Big Pharma” with “colleagues in hearings that brought PrEP generic a year early.” 
• But Gilead, the drug company behind the HIV drug PrEP, a drug that can reduce HIV transmission by 99%, had reached an agreement with a generic drug maker for the drug back in 2014, a year earlier than would have normally happened. 

As always with these types of political charades, does Ocasio-Cortez actually believe this fable or does she think we are too stupid or too lazy to understand what the real time line and real truth is? It’s a question that may never be answered or it may all of the above: politicians believe their fables and they do think we are stupid and lazy.

Footnote: the Trump administration recently announced that it will provide HIV prevention drugs for free to all uninsured people as part of its plan to reduce new HIV transmissions by 90% over the next 10 years. Thus, while Ocasio-Cortez is fantasizing over non-accomplishments, Trump is actually doing something in the area of HIV prevention.

That will do it for today’s insanity: Ocasio-Cortez’s fables, Joe Biden picking on a U.S. citizen, Joe Biden admiring the Confederacy, and Portland politicians miserably failing the homeless and the citizens in their city.
