When this principle of one person one vote is violated or appears to have been violated, the whole foundation of our democracy and freedoms is undermined. We can never be quite sure if the election results actually reflect the will of the people or if those election results have been skewed by incompetence, deceit, criminal behavior, and anti-freedom forces.
I have people in my life that pooh pooh the idea that there is massive voter fraud in this country, either intentional or unintentional, due to incompetence or deceit of government officials and politicians. We have taken a look at their hypothesis that ‘s elections:voter fraud is insignificant over the past few days. I thought we would be done with this topic with the last post but more incidents of potential voter fraud have come to our attention, requiring another day of discussing this topic. When we finish all of the examples, you will agree that our voting processes are badly broken and possibly criminally broken and skewed and that unless actions are taken to restore the faith in our election processes, the country and the freedoms we enjoy are in serious trouble.
1) Joseph Curl, writing for the Daily Wire website on July 26 2017, pointed one of the reason why California may have thousands and thousands of illegal immigrants voting in our country:
- In January, 2015, the state of California no longer required people applying for a California driver’s license to prove they were legal residents of the state.
- All they had to show were “eligible proof of identification and residency in the state,” i.e. they only had to prove they actually were the name going on the license and that they lived in the state.
- Under the law, the license could not be used to “discriminate against a holder of an AB-60 license, or use this license to attempt to question the holder's citizenship or immigration status."
- But the law also said that these driver’s licenses could not be used to for identification purposes even though one of the main requirements for registering to vote in the state is a driver’s license.
- According to the Sacramento Bee, over 900,000 illegal immigrants living in California have California driver’s licenses.
2) Another Joseph Curl article for the Daily Wire on May 31, 2017, went into more detail on illegal immigrants voting in Virginia, a topic we touched on a few days ago:
- There were/are thousands of illegal immigrants registered to vote in the state of Virginia according to a new study by the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF).
- Furthermore, thousands of those illegally registered illegal immigrants have already cast thousands of votes in previous elections.
- It took the PILF three lawsuits, tons of public record reviews, and reviews of voter history across 133 Virginia voting districts to uncover the truth.
- The state of Virginia itself removed 5,566 voters who were illegal immigrants from the voting rolls between 2011 and 2017.
- About a third of those removed had illegal voted in previous elections.
- That third had cast 7,474, illegal votes over the years, some going back to the 1980s.
- According to the PILF, Virginia state election government officials “routinely fail to alert law enforcement about these illegal votes or registrations” and that “At the instruction of Governor McAuliffe’s political appointees, local election officials spent countless resources to prevent this information from spilling into the open. Virginia hid critical information that would have improved election integrity while a political operative-turned-governor vetoed numerous proposals that would’ve prevented alien registration and voting. From NoVa to Norfolk and all urban and rural points in between, alien voters are casting ballots with practically no legal consequences in response.”
- In Fairfax County alone over 1,000 illegal immigrants were removed from the voting lists.
- Documents obtained by the PILF found emails where state employees talked about altering government records to hide the extent of the screw up.
- One example of tampering involved Arlington County General registrar Linda LIndberg who wrote in an email: “This group [PILF] has and will interpret the fact that there may be voting credit on the cancelled record as “illegal aliens” registering and voting, despite the voter having subsequently affirmed his citizenship. ... I am going to delete or otherwise notate these names from my report, either by deleting the rows from the Excel version or marking them on the report.”
3) I used to work for a manager who had a great saying: Nothing is more devastating to an opinion than the proper number.” As a formally trained statistician, I believe that understanding the numbers of a situation allows one to understand the reality of the situation, much like some people did with a set of Harvard University based voting numbers:
- Rowan Scarborough, writing for the Washington Times on june 19, 2017, discussed a study that estimated as many as 5.7 million non-citizens may have illegally voted in 2008.
- The study was done by a group called Just Facts which is a widely respected think tank that is conservative and libertarian in nature.
- Its president, James Agresti, and his organization looked at data from a large Harvard/YouGov study that goes out every two years and questions a sample size of tens of thousands of voters, some of which acknowledge they are noncitizens and thus, are not legally supposed to vote.
- Just Facts analysis of the Harvard daya estimated that as many as 7.9 million non-citizens were illegally registered to vote in 2008 and that between 549,000 and 5.7 million actually did vote in the 2008 Presidential election.
- For the 2012 Presidential election, Just Facts estimates that 3.2 and 5.6 million non-citizens were registered to vote and between 1.2 and 3.6 million actually did vote in that election.
- In addition to this analysis, professors from Old Dominion University also looked at the Harvard raw data and did a different analysis.
- This study was caused the Cooperative Congressional Election Study.
- These professors estimated that in the 2008 Presidential election as few as 38,000 and as many as 2.8 million non-citizens voted.
