Let’s get started:
1) We thought that we were done with this month's political class insanity but we underestimated Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's ability to say stupid, inane, and idiotic stuff. To get a quick history of her previous statements of ignorance, just put her name in the search box above.
In all of my 65 years I have not come across any politician of any party at any level of government that was so ignorant of life and reality. I thought I had seen it all when Congressman Hank Johnson of Georgia claimed that the island of Guam could actually tip over in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I thought I had seen it all when Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee wanted to know if a Mars surface vehicle would be driving past the area where Armstrong planted the American flag on the moon.
I could go on and on about stupid politicians but no politician has given us so many stupid statements, out of touch with reality statements than Ocasio-Cortez:
- She recently go into a Twitter exchange with Republican Steve Scalise regarding Ocasio-Cortez's stupid and ignorant plan to raise taxes on high earners to 70% at the Federal level.
- It started when she was interviewed on 60 Minutes when she was asked how she was going to pay for all of her socialist and stupid proposed programs, programs we have previously shown to be impossible to fund.
- Rather than answer the question, she did the classic dodge by answering this simple question with other questions: "No one asks how we're gonna pay for this Space Force. No one asked how we paid for a $2 trillion tax cut. We only ask how we pay for it on issues of housing, health care and education. How do we pay for it? With the same exact mechanisms that we pay for military increases for this Space Force. For all of these-- ambitious policies."
- When she refused to answer this question, the host asked her another question, referring to a Democratic colleague that said her plans were unrealistic.
- Again, using the classic dodge again, she answered the question with another question: "What makes it unrealistic?"
This lady is clueless on how life works, on how her proposed programs are not financially feasible, and how trusting the Federal government to do anything efficient and effective, see the bankrupt Post Office and annual revenue deficit Amtrak programs just to name two, is a formula for disappointment.
2) At another part of the interview, she answered another financing question with the following statement, dodging another question on how she would finance her plans: :"We pay more per capita in health care and education for lower outcomes than many other nations. And so for me, what's unrealistic is-- is what we're living in right now."
Read her answer again and you will see what gibberish it is. She states a true statement and then proposes no way on how to fix it, just implying we need to spend more money to fix what is broken. The correct approach is to find out how other countries get better bang for their health care and education dollars, not just add more money to a money losing operation.
She obviously has no formal problem solving skills. You need to find the root causes of the problem, then address the root causes. Just spending more money without understanding the root causes is not going to fix anything.
3) Steve Scalise is a high ranking Republican in the House who narrowly dodged an assassination attempt a few years ago by a crazed liberal Democrat at a baseball practice. Fortunately, he barely survived his wounds and has made a remarkable recovery to return to his Congressional seat.
He recently got into a Twitter exchange with Ocasio-Cortez about her stupid idea to raise the Federal tax rate on high earning Americans marginal dollars to 70%. Having an exchange of views and opinions is no big deal between Congress people, or ordinary Americans, but this one got ugly real fast.
People who support Ocasio-Cortez and who have not a decency moral fiber in their body disgustingly jumped the discussion via Twitter:
- James Hodgkinson was the deranged liberal who tried to kill Scalise and other Republicans back in 2017.
- One if her Twitter supports said: "James T Hodgkinson should have learned to aim"
- Another said that: "James Hodgkinson's only real crime was his lousy aim."
- Another: "If only James T. Hodgkinson had better aim"
- Another: "Now, I would NEVER say it was a shame that James Hodgkinson didn't have better aim. That would just be a terrible thing to say. That being said....................."
- Another: "What a shame that James T. hodgkinson was such lousy aim..."
- There were others that are too profane to reprint here, again showing a depraved indifference to life because someone had a different opinion than yours.
I realize that she cannot control the violence and hatred of some of her followers. However, what she can control is a statement issued by her stating that such hatred and a depravity of life is not humane or productive and has no place in discussing and resolving the major issues of our times as adults. As of this writing she has not disavowed this type of violent rhetoric and for that she is no better than the scum who wrote it.
4) And the gibberish from her just keeps on coming. In that same 60 Minutes interview, she issued the following statement regarding those of us that point out how ignorant she is of live, reality, and facts and how her programs cannot possibly be financed: "I think that there's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right."
So rather than base an actions on facts and reality she would be actions on what she thinks is morally right no matter how factually wrong it turns out to be. Let's do a simple example:
- Let's assume your neighborhood just suffered a hurricane with torrential rain storms.
- Let's assume that those rains have caused a vicious flood to come down the middle of your street, vicious in that is is deep and flowing 40-50 miles per hour.
- Let's assume there is a dog struggling to survive in the middle of that flood.
- Most people would say the moral thing to do would be to jump into that flood in that moment to try and rescue the dog.
- The reality is that while you might feel good and moral at that moment, the reality, the facts are, you both would be soon be dead with nothing accomplished.
Same thing with her programs. While they may sound high and noble, the reality is that they cannot be financed (e.g. Medicare for All, New Green Deal) nor should they be funded since they attack a myth of a problem (e.g., New Green Deal).
Again, she has no concept of how to solve a problem. You have to first determine the true root causes of a problem using FACTS. Once you correctly identified the true root causes of a problem, you then use FACTS to come up with a remedial plan. You then use FACTS to track how your plan is going.
If you follow her reasoning and based your plans not on facts but on a wing, morals, and hope, you are almost always going to fail because as someone once said: "Hope is not a strategy."
5) One last piece of insanity and fortunately, it finally does not include Ocasio-Cortez. According to the Chicago Tribune:
- Ed Burke is Chicago's city government's longest serving Alderman.
- He is/was one of the post politically powerful.
- He has been one of the most ardent gun control, anti-Second Amendment politicians.
- And he has now been charged with extortion based on Federal court proceedings.
- According to the indictment, Burke abused his position in the city's permitting process to extort the owners of a Burger King restaurant to use a law firm he operated.
- And in twist of irony, when the Feds raided this gun control, anti-Second Amendment politician's office they found 23 guns in his office.
- Not just ironic, but in violation of current laws that make it illegal to have guns in a gun free zone even if legally owned: "(a) A licensee under this Act shall not knowingly carry a firearm on or into:(5) Any building or portion of a building under the control of a unit of local government."
Just another example, typical of politicians' everywhere, that they are somehow above the laws that they themselves make. They are special, above the rest of us, somehow privileged beyond what we deserve. Disgusting.
6) But the good news is Burke got caught and hopefully he will go to jail for a long time if found guilty. If so, he will be able to visit a lot of other former Illinois politicians:
- Four of the las seven Illinois governors have been put in prison for their criminal misdeeds.
- Three dozen Chicago Aldermen have served prison time in the past four plus decades plus.
Hopefully we can get past this month's political class insanity with today's post. But that will require Ocasio-Cortez to keep her mouth shut for a few days and Chicago and Illinois politicians to avoid the law for those same days. A dicey proposition on both counts.
