As we have dove into the whole issue of man made global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:
- Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
- Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
- Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control on our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.
Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaim.
1) Back in the 1970s, climatologists were predicting the onset of a new Ice Age. Just a few short years later that same profession started the global warming myth with its set of associated predictions. Over time, we now know that every one of those global warming predictions never came close to coming true and the havoc that global warming was supposed to cause never materialized.
As the saying goes, what goes around comes around and that also appears to be true with climate:
- Warner Todd Huston, writing for the Godfather Politics website, reported on the climate over the past two years.
- According to a report by Real Clear Markets, “From February 2016 to February 2018 (the latest month available) global average temperatures dropped 0.56°C.”
- This is the biggest two year drop since the 1982 - 1984 period.
- The data from the report comes from GISTEMP and their analysis, “2018: GISS Surface Temperature Analysis, NASA Goddard Institute For Space Studies.”
- The website for their report can be found at: https://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/).
- According to the article, “This is the standard source used in most journalistic reporting of global average temperatures.”
- Within the two year period, there was the largest five month drop in temps EVER, February to June, 2016.
- And the fourth biggest five month period drop in temps EVER occurred between February and June, 2017.
- The five month period from February to June, 2018 found that average global temps were below the 1980s average temperature.
- And finally, February, 2018 was colder than February, 1998.
- And given that temperature variability has decreased over time, these colder temps in the past few years is not likely due to sampling error alone.
Which is why I am a global warming doubter and a believer in science: many climate scientists and the politicians and media types that support them will say nothing about this global cooling period since it does not fit the myth and objectives that they want.
2) For decades now we have been told by global warming advocates that we will see more and more severe weather via more and more intense hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, and wildfires. Hurricane Katrina was the great rallying call for global warming advocates in that they predicted that Katrina was in the vanguard of more severe storms to come.
So what happened? Immediately after Katrina we went into a dozen years with fewer and milder hurricanes. As a resident of Florida since 2005, I did not experience a single hurricane until Irma, twelve years after moving into the state. Hardly the horrific forecast the advocates said would happen.
But it is not just bigger and more frequent hurricanes that were erroneously predicted by the global warming advocates. According to Todd Warner Huston, again writing for the Godfather Politics website:
- The year 2018 was the first year since measurements began in 1950 that no violent tornadoes hit the U.S.
- Let me say that again, there were NO violent tornadoes in the country in 2018.
- Technically, it was the first year where there were no recorded EF4 or EF5, the worst kind, of tornadoes.
- This runs contrary to global warming theory which always predicted more and more violent tornadoes.
- Even the Washington Post, long the advocate and supporter of liberal based causes such as global warming admitted the truth: ”It was a quiet year for tornadoes overall, with below normal numbers most months. Unless you’re a storm chaser, this is not bad news. The low tornado count is undoubtedly a big part of the reason the 10 tornado deaths in 2018 are also vying to be a record low.”
- The long term trend is also very positive in that the average number of violent hurricanes in a year is less than half the average it was back in the 1970s.
- Even when the more moderate EF3 tornadoes are included in the measurement, 2018 was still a record low.
That will do it for today but we are just getting started proving again this month that it is perfectly sane to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science...and reality.
