1)The country is facing some serious issues and problems right now:
Liberal/Democratic cities are facing ever increasing levels of crime, homicides, and violence.
Inflation is hitting highs not experienced in decades.
The Russians have invaded Ukraine.
Government debt continues to endanger our economy, our financial health, and our democracy.
Our infrastructure is falling apart after decades of neglect.
Our schools are expensive and yet under educate our kids.
Social Security and Medicare are heading towards near term bankruptcy.
And yet in the face of these mega problems that will affect every American, this is what a current member of Congress is concerned about:
Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick went on the floor of the House recently to publicly declare that “hair discrimination is race discrimination.”
She actually proposed a formal piece of legislation that would “prohibit discrimination on the basis of hair texture and hairstyle that is commonly associated with a particular race and national origin.”
She went on to explain her position with the following gibberish: “We must understand that hair discrimination is rooted in systemic racism,” and she called for members of Congress to “push back against the Euro-centric beauty and that is perpetrated across T.V. and in the media.”
Her gibberish continued: “Anti-Black hair sentiment on U.S. soil has existed for centuries…And, today, there remains regressive movements that continue to criminalize natural black hairstyles under the auspices of preparing them for the real world.”
She went on to claim that hair discrimination is a civil rights violation: “Unfortunately, some employers discriminate against people of African descent who wear natural hair, even though employer employment policies involve involvement (sic) and are not related to workers’ ability to perform the job. The notion that some of these policies are race-neutral policies and therefore not covered under the 1954 Civil Rights Act - which outlaws discrimination based on race, sex, color, religion and national origin - is absurd and lacks merit.”
My gosh, you cannot make this nonsense up, you need a member of Congress to provide this kind of comic relief.
Thus, the next time you go to the supermarket and are blown away by how high your bill is, the next time you fill up your gas tank and get pissed off that the price for a gallon has gone up $.40 in the past week, the next time you worry about whether Social Security or Medicare will be there for you when you need it, think about what this Congresswoman feels is important and needs to be addressed.
2) We have often discussed the fact that the only thing that American politicians seem to do well, efficiently, and effectively is enrich themselves and their family and friends. By having access to secret government and business information before the rest of the world, they have often used that insider information to make stock market moves that are almost always wealth generating for themselves. Insider trading moves that would get the rest of us thrown into jail apparently do not apply to politicians.
Nancy Pelosi has been a prime example that we have discussed often. Years ago she postponed regulatory legislation on the credit card industry until Visa issued its IPO and she walked away with about half a million dollars in profit. Over the pandemic years, her husband made a number of very lucrative stock moves ahead of potential and real legislation that would have substantial effects on the stocks he traded on.
And apparently the corruption of the Pelosi reign may not be restricted to just her and her husband:
Nancy Pelosi’s son, Paul Pelosi, Jr., is under FBI investigation for being connected to five different companies that have been investigated by the Feds for shady dealings.
While he personally has never been arrested for any misdoings, it is quite a coincidence that he is associated with multiple companies that have all come under investigation.
But the sixth time may be the charm that gets him in legal trouble.
According to the Daily Mail: "Nancy Pelosi‘s son is embroiled in an FBI investigation into a San Francisco official who was allegedly bribed to turn a blind eye to a corrupt real estate plot. Paul Pelosi Jr. and at least three of his associates were interviewed by agents in a five-year investigation that resulted in an indictment of a prolific building permit fixer for allegedly bribing a city official."
Specifically, the investigation is focusing on whether Pelosi and others bribed a local government official, Rodrigo Santos, to drop permit violations on a slum building that was not up to code, a building that was owned by Pelosi’s girlfriend.
Santos has already been indicted for fraud as it regards funneling money to a rugby club that was supported by another corrupt local official, Bernie Curran.
The FBI theory is that the money was sent to support Curran’s rugby club if Curran would be the one who actually remove the building violations against a “squalid Mission District ‘hotel’ – known among building inspectors as ‘The Pit’ – which had a long history of dangerous permit violations, according to text messages obtained by the feds.”
The FBI is also reported to have text messages between the involved parties that discuss how big the bribery checks should be and exactly what that money will buy.
Like mother, like son? Using whatever means necessary to get what they want from a monetary reward perspective? Keep in mind that these are only allegations and everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
3) A continual topic in this blog over the years has been how the political class and the government entities they oversee are so good at wasting taxpayer money, either on ineffective government programs or outright criminal fraud with those programs. Recent findings indicate that the covid pandemic relief programs were rife with massive criminal fraud, stealing millions and millions of taxpayer dollars.
For example:
Washington politicians spent almost $6,000,000,000,000 (that’s six trillion dollars) in various pandemic relief programs.
In Connecticut, a 46 year old resident pleaded guilty to criminally obtaining and spending the $4 million he got in Federal taxpayer wealth to buy a Porsche, a Mercedes, and a BMW.
In New Jersey, a 51 year old woman invented employees, inflated wages, and created fictitious tax filings to illegally collect $1 million in pandemic relief.
In Florida, a 63 year old man is going to jail for taking $800,000 in pandemic relief as a result of creating fictitious businesses that did not exist.
And these three cases are certainly a tiny tiny fraction of the overall government fraud the pandemic brought on.
According to Gene Sperling, Biden’s chief coordinator of pandemic relief spending, “And the aid continues to be a ripe target for criminals nationwide, the full extent of which is only beginning to come to light.”
Sperling is quoted as saying there was and is “immense fraud” involved in the pandemic relief process.
The Washington Post reported that 845,000 cases of fraud have been identified just related to identity theft, i.e. criminals used the ids of others to obtain pandemic relief illegally.
We will probably never know how many billions and billions of dollars were siphoned off of the government’s pandemic relief programs by criminal elements, both here and abroad. From Obama’s failed and criminally infested economic stimulus program to the twenty year failure in Afghanistan, to the pandemic relief fraud to the everyday government fraud that infects every government program, American taxpayers have easily given the Washington political class trillions of tax dollars over the years and got NOTHING in return.
That will do it for today’s insanity: A Congresswoman worries about hair discrimination, possible more corruption in the Pelosi, empire, and more taxpayer waste out of Washington.
