May, 2019, Part 4, Political Class Insanity: Corruption In Baltimore, Letting Terrorists Vote, and Impeachment Nonsense

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Political corruption does not just exist in DC. Consider the latest local political class corruption at the city level down in Baltimore. According to Fox News, the mayor of Baltimore is resigning as more and more evidence of corruption crop up concerning her misdeeds. Catherine Pugh resigned as a result of state and Federal corruption investigations into whether she used sales of her self published book, “Healthy Holly,” to launder and hide monetary kickbacks.

Apparently, Hugh made political decisions and appointments in return for those benefiting from her decisions arranging for the bulk purchase of Pugh’s book. Fortunately, law enforcement found out about the arrangements and as a result a likely corrupt politician is out of a job and facing potential criminal charges.

2) Consider some of the major problems and issues facing the country today:
  • Medicare is going bankrupt.
  • Medicaid is going bankrupt.
  • Social Security is going bankrupt.
  • We have a major immigration, criminal, drug trafficking, and health crisis on our southern border.
  • We have millions of Americans who are homeless, hungry, sick, and drug addicted.
  • We have a Federal government debt of $22 TRILLION which will likely bankrupt the country.
Given these major issues that will likely affect every single American, what issue is Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders all worked up about? Sanders wants convicted felons still serving time in prison to be able to vote in elections. So murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and hardened criminals serving time should have the right to vote in his reality.

Even terrorists, those that have shot and bombed Americans to death or injury, should have a right to vote. Yes, even though their victims and ordinary Americans who died violently at the hands of murderers and terrorists and who were deprived their right to vote, and their right to live, can no longer vote.

Of all the major issues, this is what Sanders is excited about. Bankrupt social programs, a bankrupt country, hungry and homeless Americans, etc.. take a back seat to felons voting. I would bet that if you asked Americans where they would put the “let felons vote” issue in their rank order of most important national issues, the voting rights of felons does not crack the top 100.

Oh wait, someone actually did that survey. A Business Insider/Survey Monkey poll found that a whopping 75% of those polled thought this was a stupid idea. Only 15% said allowing violent felons still in prison to vote is a good idea. Of course, Congressional bimbo Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came out in support of the idea showing continuing lack of good sense and right priorities.

Fortunately, it appears that most Americans have good sense and a good moral compass. If you commit a crime against society, you need to be held accountable for your deeds and pay the price, a price that includes suspending your right to vote. Unfortunately, politicians like Sanders do not have the same good sense and good moral compass. If they did they would not even consider allowing terrorists and murderers to vote after they denied their murdered victims that same right.

3) Politicians say the darndest things, we have proven that over the years oh so many times. Unfortunately, the insanity and stupidity never stops, as witnessed by the latest stupid statement by Congressman Al Green: “If we don’t impeach this president, he will get re-elected.

So inane on so many levels:
  • What is wrong with him getting re-elected if he wins the election, the voters and citizens should decide who is and who is not elected, not some impeachment infected Congress people.
  • Getting impeached means that Trump has been accused of crimes, not that he has been convicted or shown to be guilty so why not vote for him again, remember, in this country it is “innocent until proven guilty.”
  • Do these impeachment nuts realize that even if they bring impeachment charges that Trump will still remain in office? I constantly get the impression that these Democrats never read the Constitution and think that impeachment means removal from office, an incorrect assumption.
  • On what charges do these types of people think they will bring against Trump, you cannot impeach a President just because you do not like him personally.
  • Mueller spent two years, spent over $30 million, had a staff of nineteen lawyers, and reviewed lord knows how many documents and came up with nothing that would lead to impeachment. I doubt that this Congressman or his peers in Congress are able to match that effort in order to find impeachment worthy actions.
Two bottom lines here. First, Congress people, in the absence of hard, hard evidence hashed out in a trial, should not be dictating who voters can or should vote for, that is not how we a have a free country. Second, can we get off this impeachment kick, the Mueller non-event, and related, non-productive nonsense?

When are we going to get our priorities right in DC and start working the real issues listed above, not this impeachment fantasy and voting rights for murderers, rapists, and pedophiles. More insanity to follow.

The Disgusting and Despicable Sexual Perversion Behavior Of Politicians And Others Of Influence, Part 5

Readers of this blog know that we have never had a high opinion of most people in the American political class. We currently have a Congressman serving in Congress who once thought that the entire island of Guam could tip over. We have a Congresswoman who publicly said her home district of Houston sat 50 feet under sea level (it does not) and who thought the Constitution was 400 years old. We once had a Speaker of the House who once proclaimed that the Obama Care legislation had to be passed BEFORE we found out what was in it. We once had a President who appears to have been a sexual predator. We currently have a President who has made many derogatory comments about women.

But it seems that in the past few weeks the bad news about our leaders in both the political class and the press that covers it has exploded from a sexual harassment, sexual predator, and general sleaziness perspective. These are the people that shape our laws, report our news and impact our lives everyday but have the integrity and morals of a dead rock.

Unfortunately, we are going to review the current, sorry state of these people over the next few days, keeping the details short and not too graphic but discussing enough to likely repulse you and realize how important it is to get these people out of office, out of our lives, and implement term limits to reduce the arrogance and ignorance that pervades our political life today.

When reviewing the following instances of alleged transgressions, keep in mind that we still do live in America where you are innocent until proven guilty. Claims of sexual misconduct are not realities of sexual misconduct. However, the overall trend is not good when it comes to the integrity and morals of those in power in the government and in the press.

1) This past week we have spoken about the horrible sexual harassment and sexual predator behavior of our politicians, journalists and Hollywood celebrities that has recently come to light. But let’s start off today’s episode of that topic by reaching back a few years to see how cruel and disgusting those same types of people were to a Republican woman and the female members of her family, as reported by Justen Charters, writing for the Independent Journal Review on December 1, 2017:

  • Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaskan governor and Vice Presidential candidate, described how females in her family had been sexually harassed over the years but no one, politicians or the mainstream press, had any problem with it.
  • She related a story about a famous newsperson: “When Chris Wallace was asked if my Mom would be sitting in his lap for an interview, he responded, 'One can only hope.' Did Wallace receive any consequences for this kind of sexual harassment? None. No one at Fox radio batted an eye with his violent misogynist rant – in fact, he’s still celebrated.”
  • The second incident affecting her family that she related was even worse: “Then, there was this. David Letterman “joked” about my 14-year-old sister getting knocked up by Alex Rodriguez at a Yankees game in 2009 – also saying the biggest problem my parents would have in New York would be keeping Elliot Spitzer away from my sister – Elliot Spitzer, if you don’t recall, was New York’s governor in 2008, a man who had to resign in the midst of a scandal concerning his solicitation of prostitutes. I’m glad that suddenly Hollywood is taking rape more seriously. Good for them. But what consequence did Letterman receive for joking about the rape of an underage girl?”
  • She also went on to describe the actions and words of rapper Azeala Banks fighter Mike Tyson whose statements are to gross and obscene to post here.
Pretty nasty stuff of which one side of the political spectrum seemingly enjoyed and never objected, to which Ms. Palin eloquently summarized: “What we need to look at is a real TRUE standard that needs to be set. But here’s a question. How do we pick and choose whom to hold accountable? Why aren’t we looking at all of the sexual harassment?” Why are some things 'just a joke' for some, and serious offenses for others? The solution is to come together and treat sexual harassment the same, no matter what side of the aisle you may be on.”

Looks like she has more insights, compassion, and common sense than most of our journalists, politicians, and Hollywood big shots combined.

2) The other day we discussed the case of Glenn Thrush, a disgraced and suspended New York Times journalist who alleged was a serial a sexual harasser. He had the unique defense that his alcoholism problem caused his disgusting behavior, he was a good guy but his drinking problem caused him to be a scumbag. We did give him credit for a unique if shallow excuse.

But we also have to give kudos to a standing member of Congress who also took an interesting and unique approach to defending his behavior, as described by Alex Griswold, writing for the Washington Free Beacon on November 27, 2017:

  • Congressman Al Green recently sent out an “out of the blue press release” that acknowledged the existence of a previous sexual assault allegation against him but denying it ever happened.
  • What was interesting is that he was under no pressure to do so since no one in the press or the rest of the world seemed to know about it.
  • In that press release he denied anything improper had happened between him and the person who made the allegation.
  • He even had the person who made the allegation sign a statement that everything was now cool and that long ago “at an unfortunate time in our lives, when both of our feelings were hurt, we hastily made allegations and charges against on another that have been absolutely resolved. As consenting adults, we both regret our former claims and have since then maintained our respectful friendship. We are friends.”
  • The Congressman followed up this first statement with another statement asserting that, "The attached statement is in reference to a circumstance that occurred in 2008. This circumstance did not involve the Cong. Office, nor the Office of Employment Counsel & did not involve the use of any taxpayer money."
  • The woman who brought the allegation claimed in 2008 that the Congressman forced her to have sex with him, an act that sounds like rape to me.
I am glad the two worked out their differences but I found it unique that the Congressman found it necessary to get out in front of this situation eight years after it happened, which I think is a good sign. Some good soul searching by people that sexually harass, even if it did not happen which appears to be the situation in this case, is a good thing.

3) Let’s finish off this multi-day discussion on sexual harassment and sexual predators with a story about possibly the biggest political sexual predator of all time, Bill Clinton. According to an article by Will Ricciardella, writing for the Independent Journal Review on November 29 2017:

  • Four new women are alleging that Clinton sexually assaulted them since he left office.
  • Ed Klein, writing for the Daily Mail newspaper, stated that these four women have filed separate lawsuits against Clinton and are seeking “substantial payouts” for their silence in the assaults.
  • If these women are not paid, Klein stated that, “If they [the accusers] fail [to be paid], according to sources in Clinton's inner circle, the four women are said to be ready to air their accusations of sexual assault at a press conference, making Clinton the latest — and most famous — figure in a long list of men from Harvey Weinstein to Kevin Spacey who have recently been accused of sexual assault.”
  • Klein claims that the alleged incidents go back more than 10 years and are associated with Clinton’s work with billionaire investor Rob Burke when Clinton was flying around the world helping Burke find new business opportunities.
  • According to Klein, a Democratic Party official, who is allegedly familiar with the situation stated that, “Bill is distraught at the thought of having to testify and defend himself against sex charges again. He hopes his legal team can somehow stop the women from filing charges and drag him through the mud.”
Hey Bill, a good way to not be distraught is to not be a sexual predator, simple as that. Respect women for the human beings they are, not the seuxal conquests you seem to crave.

That will do it for our review of the disgusting and despicable behavior of many powerful people in our politics, press, and Hollywood. We will restate our reason for reviewing their bad behavior: these people write and enact our laws, they report on issues of our times, they shape our culture and they are hypocrites of the highest order. Their lack of integrity, brains, common sense, and common decency should give us all pause and question if we really want these types of low lifes affecting our lives as much as they do.
