November, Part 1, Political Class Inanity: A Tax Delinquent Politician, More Illegal Immigrant Violence, Overall Violent Crime Rate Is Way Up Under Biden, and More

  Every month we devote posts to just general political class insanity that is running rampant through the country. The members of the American political class continue to show that they are incapable of efficiently operating any level of government in this country. 

Even their best efforts are almost always ineffective at resolving any problem facing Americans. They spend a great amount of time not trying to improve the lives of their citizens but continually ensuring their reelection and enriching themselves, their families, and their friends in the process, all at taxpayer expense.

1)We have always said that most American politicians abide by the old saying, “do as I say, not as I do.” Many times they seem to think and assume that the very laws they pass do not apply to them, that they are somehow above the law. A politician running for the U.S. Senate in Maryland is the latest example:

• Angela Alsobrooks is running for the U.S. Senate representing the state of Maryland.

• The problem is that she apparently owes $47,580.56 in property taxes on a home that she used to own in Washington D.C.

• Apparently she accepted the fact that she had not paid the necessary taxes on the property but as always, the politician had an excuse,  namely that she had never been sent the property tax bills.

Although she has paid back some of the unpaid taxes, she still owes almost $30,000. And yet, she is running for the U.S. Senate. Ain’t America great, not pay taxes and still be eligible to serve in the U.S. Senate?

2)A primary, basic function of any government entity is to protect the lives and property of the citizens they serve. Unfortunately, Biden’s  failed immigration policies have allowed all sorts of nefarious types to enter the country: organized crime organizations, drug cartels, human traffickers, etc. The actions of these folks have resulted in the  rapes, murders, thefts, and drug overdoses of an untold number of Americans.

And the carnage has not ended:

• A Chicago Jewish gentleman was recently walking towards his synagogue to worship when he was shot for no other reason than being Jewish.

• The shooter is allegedly an illegal immigrant who crossed into this country illegally in California.

• He also allegedly is from an Arab country since during the shooting and the following shooting against the first responders he was shouting “Allahu Akbar.”

So  not only are illegal  immigrants committing run of the mill violence and criminal acts but at least one of them is intent on doing violent, anti-semetic hate crimes.

3)We have often discussed the reality that Biden’s failed economic programs and policies have resulted in double digit inflation over the course of his time in office.  In fact, at one point, the  monthly annual estimate of inflation had hit a 40 year high.

But the high information rates are not the only very high,  and very undesirable rate, of his administration:

• In 2021, Biden took apart the existing and reliable long term FBI crime reporting system and replaced it with an optional system that allowed local law enforcement agencies to make their crime submission to the FBI optional.

• This resulted in over 6,000 law enforcement agencies across the country opting out of reporting their crime statistics.

• This is almost 30% of the total number of law enforcement agencies in the  country.

• Thus, overnight, the rate of violent crime  officially decreased by about 30% simply because crimes were not being reported.

• And some of the agencies that bailed out of reporting their crime were crime infested cities like New York City and  Los Angeles.

• When the latest crime statistics were released it showed a decrease in violent crime by 2.1% and Biden claimed success in reducing violent crime.

• But the FBI quietly admitted later that violent crime actually increased by 4.5%.

• This increase was the result of an additional 1,699 murders, 80,029 violent crimes, 7,780 more rapes, 33.459 robberies, and  37,091 aggravated assaults that were eventually counted in the final estimate.

• Thus, the Feds via the FBI and Biden administration tried to cover up well over 100,000 violent crimes that Americans had suffered.

• With their credibility destroyed, it is  worthwhile looking at a  non-FBI and non-Biden crime reporting source.

• The National Crime  Victimization  Survey is that source since it relies on reports from victims, not corrupted government sources.

• Their analysis and reporting actually found that there was a whopping 55% increase in violent crime since Biden and Harris took office.

• And while the real statistics show the steep increase in violent crime, there is also anecdotal evidence of how bad crime is rampaging.

• For example, the city government in Chicago has not renewed a contract with a “gun-fire detection agency” because there were just too many guns being fired in the city.

• There is now so much gunfire that Chicago police respond to gunfire only if someone is actually shot.

• In New York City violent subway crime has gotten so bad that the governor had to deploy the National Guard to patrol the subway system.

More government corruption to  cover up the failure of the Biden administration to provide a very, very basic government service: protecting the lives and property of every American. Lies, deceit, and violence, a horrible legacy of a horrible Presidency.

4)Speaking of corruption, consider recent reporting by former CBS News correspondent, Catherine Herridge (note: I consider Ms. Herridge one of the few unbiased, thorough, and intelligent journalists left in the country and left in the journalism industry):

• IRS whistle blowers have come out to accuse key government agencies such as the IRS, DOJ, and FBI of  being aware that Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop computer was the real  deal and not some type of Russia shenanigans.

• The report goes on to suggest that Federal government officials avoided investigating the laptop to protect Biden’s run to the Presidency.

• The whistleblowers allege that prosecutors instructed them to NOT pursue any lines of questioning that could  implicate Joe Biden in his son’s likely unlawful activities.

• Their accusation is that the prosecutors and others wanted to protect the “Big Guy” which we now know is code for Joe Biden: “There were a lot of overt investigative steps that we were not allowed to take because we had an upcoming election.”

• They explained that the Biden campaign’s influence over investigative protocols was evident throughout their work: “The prosecutors specifically told us that they didn’t want to ask about the big guy because they knew it was Joe Biden.”

• Herridge reports that as government officials were telling Americans that the laptop was a Russian, they all knew that it was real  and if the reality of the laptop contents got made public Biden would suffer at the polls in the upcoming election.

• Anthony Blinken,  Biden’s Secretary of State, allegedly played a big part in suppressing the laptop story and thus, got rewarded with a valuable Cabinet position.

More government corruption. Thankfully, some honest IRS whistleblowers have come forward to show that Biden probably would not have been installed as President if the Federal government had not covered up his son’s shady doings. 

Unfortunately, the government does not like whistle blowers and these IRS  whistle blowers have paid a heavy career toll: “The IRS has put a smothering blanket on me, hoping that I quit, that they find some way to terminate me or commit suicide or something.” It’s a shame since these folks proved that Washington in general, Biden crime family specifically, exists and will corrupt government agencies to help them grow their wealth and power.

Enough insanity for today: government corruption protects the Bidens, government corruption fakes the true crime statistics, more illegal immigrant violence in  Chicago, and a Maryland politician says no taxes for me.

January, 2017, Part 10, Political Class Insanity: More IRS Incompetence, Wasting Billions Of Taxpayer Dollars and a Rising Wabe Of Crime

It is the beginning of another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us. 

Today and for all of the insanity posts this month, let’s start off with a welcome piece of honest political dialog. It comes from a State Department spokesperson. Mark Toner, who is about to start the daily State Department press briefing. In a joking matter, he makes the following quote: "Welcome to the State Department. I think we have some interns in the back. Welcome. Good to see you in this exercise in transparency and democracy." 

He then burst out laughing at his own quote, indicating he also knew what a joke the Obama administration has been, especially Mr. Toner’s State Department, when it comes to cover ups, lack of transparency, denial of Freedom of Information Act requests, the prosecution of whistleblowers, etc. But at least it was a little refreshing to finally hear some actual honesty out of Washington as we see from the actual clip of the news conference:

With that context of honesty, let’s see what other insanity has been going down:

1) Let’s start today’s discussion on political class insanity with some good old fashioned wasting of taxpayer money. Rachel del Guidice, writing for the Heritage Foundation on January 10, 2017, reviewed some of the ways the Federal government absolutely throws away our tax dollars away on useless efforts and programs that have been uncovered by Senator Jeff Flake in his current wasteful spending report, “Wastebook” PORKemon Go.” Flake identified over $5 billion in wasteful spending examples that included the following atrocities:

1. “Spaceport to Nowhere.” The Missile Defense Agency continues to fund a rocket launch site in Alaska that could cost the organization up to $80.4 million. The facility is 20 years old, “rarely used,” and was established with an $18 million earmark. “The millions spent to date on this launch complex have not made America safer from potential missile attacks from foreign adversaries,” the report states. “To the contrary, it has siphoned away tens of millions of dollars that could have been better spent on more promising initiatives.”

2. Fishes on a Treadmill. How long can a mudskipper use a treadmill? The University of California-San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography is using grant money from the National Science Foundation to answer just that. The study found that mudskippers “can exercise longer and recover quicker under higher oxygen concentrations.” The grant also is slated to be used “to purchase what one of the researchers jokingly refers to as ‘all the toys’ as well as travel costs for junkets to conferences.”

3. Holograms at a Comedy Museum. The National Comedy Center, a nonprofit in New York, received a $1.7 million grant from the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration to create a comedy museum. The museum will feature holograms of dead comedians. A New York state lawmaker has promised to bring an additional $3 million in federal funding. “I’m not kidding you,” Flake said at Heritage. “It’s a comedy club that, unfortunately, gets your tax dollars.

4. Partying College Students. Part of a $5 million grant from a section of the National Institutes of Health paid for a researcher at Brown University to study the partying habits of college students. Some findings: “Greek members engaged in more risky health behaviors … than non-Greek members,” and college students tend to increase their intake of alcohol on game days. “According to the researchers,” Flake said, “all the games had the same goal—causing the participants to become intoxicated. I think that falls into the obvious category.”

5. Do Boys or Girls Play More With Dolls? A study executed by Vanderbilt University with money from the National Eye Institute and National Science Foundation examined “whether boys or girls spend more time playing with Barbie dolls.” The report surveyed about 300 men and women and cost over $300,000. The study also found, in the words of Flake’s report, that “women were much better at identifying the correct Barbies while the men were more likely to recognize the Transformers.”

6. Singing Dinosaurs. A study conducted with partial funding from $450,000 in grants from the National Science Foundation examined whether dinosaurs were able to sing. The two-year study examined, in part, whether dinosaurs ever possessed a syrinx. The lead author said the study was “another important step to figuring out what dinosaurs sounded like.”

7. Binge-Watching Computers. Can computers learn human behavior by binge-watching TV shows such as “The Office” and “Desperate Housewives?” The study was funded in part by the Department of Defense’s Office of Naval Research and the National Science Foundation, which helped researchers study how TV shows “train computers to understand and predict human behavior.” Flake said he sees this research as nonsensical. “Spending nearly a half a billion dollars to … turn computers into couch potatoes doesn’t compute for me,” he said

And while the government was spending tax dollars on these insults to our wealth, consider the other societal problems that could not be helped by the billions of dollars spent on this nonsense:

• How many homeless Americans could have been given shelter, fed a hot meal, or given job training for that wasted $5 billion?
• How many veterans could finally receive the medical care they need and were promised for that wasted $5 billion?
• How many deaths of drug addicted Americans could have been prevented for that wasted $5 billion?
• How many researchers could have been hired to seek treatment for cancer and dementia patients for that wasted $5 billion?
• How many more teachers could have been put in our schools for that wasted $5 billion?

This is why no American, rich or poor, should pay an extra penny in taxes, especially when those taxes are wasted on such efforts like these and while so many Americans are suffering in so many ways. Despicable.

2) Another example that the Senator uncovered that was not described in the above Heritage article was that the IRS spent $12 million on an email archive system that it never used. $12 million spent, absolutely no benefit in return. But this is not the first time that we have discussed IRS incompetence.

The Daily Caller, reporting in 2014, also found more IRS ineptness:

• The IRS has wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on software and server licenses that they never used.
• At that time the IRS computers and programmers were still using Windows XP operating system, a system that I do not think that Microsoft even supports anymore.
• The IRS was using staff to do what up-to-date computers could do much cheaper and faster.

So pathetic and inept.

3) We have talked a lot this past week about the out of control gang and gun violence in the city of Chicago. Despite having some of the toughest gun control laws in the country, over 700 residents were killed in the city in 2016 and over 4,000 had been shot. We often point out that no one in the political class, local, state or Federal, has yet to come out with a plan or solutions for this violence.

How desperate have local politicians become? Consider the desperation that was recently expressed by Chicago Police Board Chairwoman Lori Lightfoot in an NPR interview: “We need to have more federal gun prosecutions in Chicago. Our federal partners from the U.S. attorney’s office, the ATF, the FBI need to be much more invested in this overall strategy. Chicago Police Department cannot tackle this issue by itself. This is not a problem that we’re going to arrest our way out of.”

The first step in resolving any problem is recognizing you need help which is a good sign from Ms. Lightfoot. But calling on various Federal agencies to help you out might be in vain, given that these same agencies have a less than stellar record of success. Anyway, we wish the best of luck to Ms. Lightfoot, possibly the one person so far in this whole scandal and mess that has any sense of what is needed to address the problem.

4) For the past few decades, the violent crime rate in this country has been going down, through good economic times and bad, through ever increasing gun sales, through all types of politicians, the violent crime rate has been going down, a very good thing:

But that trend is starting to reverse itself. According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, quoting analyses done by the Brennan Center For Justice in Chicago, the murder rate for the country’s largest 30 cities is expected to rise by 14% in 2016 when all of the final stats are added up. 

Although al lot of that is expected to be driven by the insanity in Chicago, 43.7%, that still means that there will be a substantial jump in the violent crime rate in a lot of those 30 cities. I am sure that there will be a lot of thoughts on what is reversing this long term positive trend but allow me to propose two:

1. As the Federal government and politicians across the country continue to fight a losing “war on drugs,” the drug cartels that supply those drugs have gotten wealthier and more violent which is causing the rising wave of violent crimes in our cities.
2. As the Obama administration has released tens of thousands of known illegal immigrant criminals and felons onto our streets and has been incapable of stopping criminals from entering, and re-entering this country, it follows logically that crime will go up when you allow more criminals to be on our streets.

Another failure of a failed Presidential administration, the end of the declining rate of violent crime in this country.

That will do it for today’s and this month’s political class insanity: higher crime, more bad news from Chicago, IRS incompetence, and wasting billions of taxpayer dollars.

April, 2016, Part 1, By The Numbers: Hillary's Speech Numbers, Bad Economic Numbers, and Bad Crime Numbers.

On a periodic basis we do some posts that fall under the theme of “by the numbers.” Rather than trust what the American political tells us about reality, we like to examine the real numbers and the real reality in the world to understand what is actually going on. Relying on politicians, and their cohorts in the media, to tell us what is reality is always a sucker bet. They have their own agendas and goals, usually centering around their needs and self-enrichment. So we need to look at the reality of the numbers to determine what is really going on.

Previous analyses of “by the numbers” can be accessed by entering the phrase in the search box above. This is the third and final post this month where we look at the numbers to truly find out how good, not likely, or bad, most likely, the American political class is doing in managing our tax dollars, protecting our freedoms, and resolving major issues that affect all of us. 

1) It is no secret to anyone who has read previous posts in this blog that the Obama administration has presided over and managed the worst recovery from a recession in over a century. Despite spending over $800 billion on a failed economic stimulus program, getting the advantage of cratering energy costs that pumped trillions of dollars into the economy, and having the Federal Reserve pump trillions of more dollars into the economy, this administration still created economic policies and strategies that resulted in the following dismal results:

• Record low labor participation rates.
• Annual national economic growth rates that were never anywhere close to the historical annual trend.
• Over 14 million Americans that cannot find a find a full time job or who have settled for a part time job since they could not find a full time job.
• Increased taxes and thousands of new government regulations, e.g. Obama Care, have depressed job and business formation.
• Household wages and incomes have been stagnant for the entire Obama administration.
• For the first time ever, business deaths are outnumbering business creations in this country.
• The jobs that have been created in the Obama economy have tended to be in the lower paying industries.

And according to recent reporting by the Investors Business Daily, the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics reports are not showing any deviation from this historically bad economic performance:

• Only 215,000 new jobs were created in March, a long way from the 14 million Americans who are still looking for a full time job.
• At this rate, it would take 6-7 years to handle those 14 million Americans, assuming that no other American lost their jobs during those years.
• The labor participation rate actually increased a little in March, good news, but is still stuck at forty year lows, around 63%.
• While Obama claims that the unemployment rate is 5%, the real unemployment rate, the rate that includes discouraged workers and part time workers that want full time work, is almost double at 9.8%.
• If the Obama recovery was comparable to the Reagan recovery, the country would have created five million more jobs.
• Two of the industries who had the biggest job gains in March were retail (48,000 jobs created) and restaurants (25,000 jobs created), two industries that usually have low wages for jobholders.
• Annualized national economic growth was 2% in the third quarter of 2015, 1.4% in the fourth quarter of 2015, and according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, who just released its prediction for the first quarter of 2016, a paltry .7%.
• According to the article, businesses are cutting back on their capital spending levels and they are not building new factories or research facilities.

The economic numbers are in for March, 2016 and they are not good. In fact they are basically the same, lame numbers the Obama administration has generated for the past seven years.

2)  2014, Hillary Clinton gave a speech to employees of wireless manufacturer Qualcomm. Since then,the Securities and Exchange Commission has sued the company, claiming that the business often bribed foreign officials in order to get better deals in country for their products and thus, gain a distinct business advantage. Qualcomm eventually paid a $7.5 million fine to end the suit.

I bring this up not because of any laws that Qualcomm broke but because the company paid Hillary clinton a whopping $335,000 to give ONE speech. I an sorry, no speech from any human being is worth $335,000…..unless that company expected something in return. Which is how Bill and Hill have gotten so rich, running the racket of trading public favors for private, severely overpaid speeches.

Oh, and by the way, according to news reports covering this story, the one time $335,000 speech fee is larger than Bernie Sanders net worth.

3) Warner Todd Huston, writing for the Breitbart website on April 12, 2016, reviewed the alarming Gallup poll results on rising crime levels (keep in mind that prior to the Obama administration, violent crime had been decreasing steadily over the past two decades):

• According to Gallup, a growing majority of lower income Americans, especially African-Americans, are more worried about rising crime levels in their neighborhoods.
• 53% of those polled said they are worried a “great deal” about rising crime and violence rates, up from 39% in 2014.
• This 53% level was pretty consistent across independent voters, Republican voters, and Democratic voters.
• 70% of respondents with high school degrees said they worry a great deal of the time while only 32% with college degrees say they worry a great deal of the time.
• Crime and violence concerns of middle class Americans has risen 20 points, up to 57%, in just the past two years while concern among upper income people is up only 8 points to 36% in the past two years.
• While 46% white respondents worried a great deal of time about crime and violence, a whopping 68% of African-Americans worried a great deal, despite having Al Sharpton and Barack Obama on their side.
• The Breitbart article cites a recent Washington Post piece that stated homicides in the country’s largest 50 cities is up 17% in the past year, the largest increase in 25 years.
• In 2015, violent crime in some areas of the nation’s capital jumped up by about 20%.
• The Gallup poll also asked about rising drug use and found that 41% of whites say they are worried a great deal about drug use, up from just 27% in 2014 while 49% of non-whites say they are worried a great deal about drug use.

Pretty pathetic results of this Presidential administration. The perception of rising crime, violence and drug use seems rampant across all segments of society, a nice part of Obama’s failed legacy, the numbers do not lie.

So today the numbers showed us that the perception of crime is marching upwards, Hillary must give a heck of a speech to get paid so much for giving a speech, and our economic performance and results under the Obama administration continue to be abysmal. More numbers tomorrow.
