Let’s get started:
1) We are starting to get tired about always including a Joe Biden screw up in these posts but they just keep on coming. But this is a person who wants to be President of the United States and he can not help saying, doing, or thinking something wrong, stupid, or false. Consider his latest screwup:
- Biden recently had a campaign stop in New Hampshire.
- An immigrant from the South American country of Guyana asked Biden what Biden would do to make sure that America was still a good place for immigrants to come to.
- And this is where he had another of his vintage gaffes, mistaking the South American country of this gentleman, Guyana, with a country across the Atlantic Ocean in Africa: “I’ve been to Ghana. I’ve been all through Africa.”
Sorry, Joe, two different countries, two different continents. As we have said before, everyone in life is entitled to a mistake or two. However, with this Presidential candidate, the mistakes outweigh the truths that come out of his mouth. Consider several other recent mistakes that Biden has stepped into, most of which happened during his presence in the recent Democratic debates:
- Biden referred to himself as a Congressman even though he had never served in the House of Representatives, he has only been a Senator and a Vice President: “I’ve been involved from the beginning, as a young congressman — councilman, I introduced legislation to try to keep them from putting a sewer plan in a poor neighborhood.” Although the Senate is considered to be a part of Congress, no Senator ever refers to as himself or herself as a “Congressman.” As a side note, why does putting a sewer line into a neighborhood have a relevance to a national Presidential debate?
- Biden incorrectly referred to his opponent, Senator Bernie Sanders, as President in that debate: “If you notice, nobody’s yet said how much it’s going to cost the taxpayer. I hear this, large savings, the president….My friend from Vermont thinks that the employer is going to give back if you negotiate as a union all these years, got a cut in wages because you got insurance.”
- In a truly bizarre statement, Biden discussed how important it was for poor parents to play their record players so that their poor kids could improve their vocabulary: “Play the radio, make sure the television, excuse me, make sure you have the record player on at night. Make sure that kids hear words, a kid coming from a very poor school, a very poor background will hear four million words fewer spoken by the time we get there.” Talk about being out of touch, I doubt you could even buy a “record player” on Ebay these days never mind actually owning records you could play for your kids.
- In a truly scary and idiotic statement, Biden stated that no one should ever go to jail for a non-violent crime: “When we were in the White House, we released 36,000 people from the federal prison system. Nobody should be in jail for a drug problem.” So in this scenario, white collar criminals like a Bernie Madoff, a person who ruined the financial lives of untold numbers of investors, would not get jail time. Pimps of prostitutes, as long as they were not violent, would never go to jail. Politicians who robbed taxpayer wealth would never go to jail which would certainly clear out the jails in the state of Illinois, given how many former governors of that state are in prison. What a stupid idea.
- In an outright lie, Biden claimed that the Obama administration did not place illegal immigrants in “cages: “What Latinos should look at, comparing this president to the president we have is outrageous, number one. We didn’t lock people up in cages, we didn’t separate families.” All of which is false, Obama’s Department of Homeland Security did separate kids at the border from their parents and detained them in areas sectioned off by metal fences.
3) But Biden is not alone in trying to convince us that the lies they tell are correct. Consider a few lies from the latest Democratic debate:
- Bernie Sanders stated that, “We have the highest child poverty rate of almost any country on Earth.” Uh, no we don’t. First of all, poverty is a relative term. A person working at a minimum wage job in America is considered living in poverty here but would be rich in some African countries. Plus, if we use real data vs. fake Sanders data, even then he is lying. The latest child poverty report from the Economic Cooperation Development organization shows that poor children in this country are far better off relative to poverty than kids in Russia, Chile, Spain, India, Turkey, Israel, Costa Rica, Brazil, South Africa, China, and other countries.
- As mentioned above, during this debate Biden said that, “We didn’t lock people up in cages, we didn’t separate families.” These infamous “cages.” chain-link enclosures ICE facilities where illegal immigrants are temporarily housed, were built and used by the Obama administration.
- Sanders had another lie during the debates, stating that, “Every study done shows that ‘Medicare for All’ is the most cost-effective approach to providing health care to every man, woman and child in this country.” The Congressional Budget Office says that may or may not be true depending on the details of the plan. The Rand corporation says Medicare For All will increase medical costs as does the Mercatus Center.
- Kamala Harris got into the lying act also: “The only reason he has not been indicted is because there was a memo in the Department of Justice that says a sitting president cannot be charged with a crime.” But not according to Robert Mueller, who in his 440 page report and Congressional testimony on Russian meddling in the 2016 election said that this was not the situation. Specifically, Mueller told Congress that his team never gave consideration to charge Trump with any crimes.
Lies, falsehoods, and no integrity, these are the types of people that want to be President. Insane….but not unexpected.
4) Lying is not the only bad attribute of American politicians. Before we get into another bad trait of politicians, consider a few realities:
- Members of Congress are paid over $170,000 a year.
- This is about three times bigger than the average American household income.
- American taxpayers subsidize 75% of the health insurance premiums that members of Congress pay.
You “have to purchase” insurance from the Obama Care set of policies, “have to”? Are you kidding me, you are the people that passed the law that made you, and millions of other Americans, “have to purchase” an Obama Care policy. You don’t get “good insurance”? But it is the same insurance that millions of other Americans “have to purchase.” And millions of other Americans do not get their Obama Care insurance subsidized to the tune of 75% despite you earning three times the income of a typical American family.
Congresswoman, you are so out of touch with the rest of America. Overpaid, under performing and still complaining that you are getting the short end of the deal. Millions of American would love to have the deal you have, a deal you and your Democratic peers and President imposed on the entire country but without the 75%subsidy that you get.
Lies, greed, and out of touch with reality and the rest of America, horrible, horrible combination.
