January, 2021, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: Politicians' "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" Syndrome Is Alive And Well, Kamala Harris Lies, and People Are Fleeing To Find Freedom

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) As we discussed many times, there are some major migration trends going on in this country. Many businesses and residents are tired of high taxes, high crime, and a lower quality of life and are doing what makes them and their families wealthier, freer, and safer.

An annual study from United Van Lines, the big moving company, tracks how this migration trend is playing out across the country. Their statistics show that the following 10 states had the highest inbound moving rate:
  1. Idaho
  2. South Carolina
  3. Oregon
  4. South Dakota
  5. Arizona
  6. North Carolina
  7. Tennessee
  8. Alabama
  9. Florida
  10. Arkansas
The following states had the highest outbound rates:
  1. New Jersey
  2. New York
  3. Illinois
  4. Connecticut
  5. California
  6. Kansas
  7. North Dakota
  8. Massachusetts
  9. Ohio
  10. Maryland
What is interesting is that in a recent post we predicted that New Jersey, New York, Illinois, California, or Connecticut were the most likely states to go bankrupt first. Not coincidentally these are the top five states losing people.

As more and more businesses and residents leave a state there is a reduction in the tax base and tax revenue stream. This requires the state’s politicians to raise taxes and reduce costs which makes police and fire less effective which reduces the quality of life and more people leave the state and the financial death spiral is in place.

2) Joe Biden was forced to drop out of the Presidential race decades ago because he was caught plagiarizing someone else’s work and passing it off as his own. And it seems like his Vice Presidential partner, Kamala Harris has the same affliction.

In a recent interview with Elle magazine, the would-be vice president recalled a time in which she attended a civil rights march as a young child: “At some point, she fell from the stroller (few safety regulations existed for children’s equipment back then), and the adults, caught up in the rapture of protest, just kept on marching. By the time they noticed little Kamala was gone and doubled back, she was understandably upset. ‘My mother tells the story about how I’m fussing,’ Harris says, ‘and she’s like, “Baby, what do you want? What do you need?” And I just looked at her and I said, “Fweedom.”’”

A heartwarming story until you realize that this story is almost identical to a story told by Martin Luther King, Jr. decades ago: “I never will forget a moment in Birmingham when a white policeman accosted a little Negro girl, seven or eight years old, who was walking in a demonstration with her mother,” King Jr. told Playboy magazine at the time. “‘What do you want?’ the policeman asked her gruffly, and the little girl looked him straight in the eye and answered, ‘Fee-dom.’ She couldn’t even pronounce it, but she knew. It was beautiful! Many times when I have been in sorely trying situations, the memory of that little one has come into my mind, and has buoyed me.”

Obviously she ripped off Reverend King which leads one to doubt anything else she says going forward, given that she faked this life story. But an untrustworthy politician? Nothing new to see here.

3) One of the most important tenets of freedom in this country is the guarantee of due process. No government entity should be able to intervene in anyone’s life and restrict their freedom without getting a fair hearing in front of impartial judgment entities. Without this guarantee of due process, a country’s residents are at the mercy of government politicians and bureaucrats that may have their own personal vendettas and objectives even if it smashes someone’s due process right.

The most notorious example of this freedom abuse was being a Jew in Nazi Germany. Without due process, millions of residents were forcibly taken from their homes and lives and shipped out to horrendous death and work camps.

Which is what should be kept in mind when we discuss how a New York state politician wants to do the same thing in New York:
  • New York state assemblyman, N. Nick Perry, has introduced legislation that would allow the governor or a designated surrogate to pull individuals out of their homes, if it was suspected they may have contagious illness, and put them in detention centers.
  • No due process, no hearing, yanked out of your home because you may have a disease
  • Perry tried to defend his proposed law: “This bill was initially introduced to address public health concerns related to the containment of the Ebola virus after it was discovered that Ebola-infected persons had entered the United States. I am an American who understands our Constitution is sacred, and provides us with the right to agree or disagree, and hold different positions on issues that may relate to our civil and constitutional rights … There is no intent, no plan, or provisions in my bill to take away, or violate any rights, or liberties that all Americans are entitled to under our Constitution, either state or federal.”
A very, very dangerous and slippery slope. This bill would in fact criminalize being sick and give unfettered power to the executive branch of the state government that could so easily be abused by power hungry, freedom-hating and petty politicians. The bill actually states that the governor could do just about anything at “his or her discretion”: ”[T]he governor or his or her delegee may, in his or her discretion, issue and seek enforcement of any other orders that he or she determines are necessary or appropriate to prevent dissemination or transmission of contagious diseases … to require an individual who has been exposed to or infected by a contagious disease to complete an appropriate, prescribed course of treatment, preventive medication or vaccination…Such person or group of persons shall be detained in a medical facility or other appropriate facility or premises designated by the governor or his or her delegee…”

Words like detain, discretion, enforcement, are not compatible with a free society.

4) We have talked often about how hypocritical American politicians are today with an attitude, “do as I say, not as I do”, a permanent part of their genetic makeup. This has been so obvious during the covid pandemic where politicians across the country have forced Americans into hibernation, locked down in their own homes, forced to lose their jobs and livelihoods, etc. to combat the virus.

But while Americans were forced to suffer, politicians went about their normal lives by going to hair salons, nail salons, gyms, parties, restaurants, parks etc. in defiance of their own edicts. To this list of violating their own rules, they added this latest twist to do as I say, not as I do:
  • Gwen Moore is a Congresswoman from Wisconsin.
  • On December 28, she tested positive for the virus.
  • As such, she should have gone into quarantine like every other American infected with the disease would be forced to do and not go out, travel, or go to work for the fear of infecting others.
  • But she violated the accepted CDC quarantine orders and went to Washington to vote on a matter, namely voting for the next Speaker of the House.
  • Current Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, was in danger of losing that position and needed every House vote she could get and Moore was one of those votes.
  • Thus, both Moore and Pelosi are culpable in endangering others by having Moore travel to Washington to vote for Pelosi.
  • A special medical area had to be set up in the House so that she could vote so it appears that she was violating CDC guidelines, otherwise, why the special protective area?
Imagine if a regular American had violated the guidelines, especially if they lived in New York. State politicians would drag that person away to a detention center and make them a criminal.

5) At the height of the pandemic in the spring, Nancy Pelosi thought it would be a good idea to give a tour of her house, showing off her $20,000+ kitchen refrigerator that was stuffed with very expensive, elitist ice cream pints. As Americans were suffering from the virus, lockdowns, lost jobs and wages, and depression, she is flitting about national television showing off her wealth and elitism of gourmet ice cream.

But she is not alone in this ignorance of suffering Americans in a time of crisis:
  • Since Congress rarely gets anything done right and quickly, the latest discussions about a second economic stimulus program is no exception.
  • The debate about this second effort seems to have been going on for months, as Americans suffered, with one of the main sticking points being whether to send Americans a $600 or a $2000 stimulus check.
  • In the midst of this inaction and suffering, Senator John Cornyn decided to go out for dinner.
  • By the way, the good Senator was against sending a $2,000 check to struggling american families.
  • No big deal until he decided to share his dining experience with the world, including pictures of his meal, a dining experience at a very expensive restaurant that included a meal that cost $125.
So while Americans are struggling putting food on the table for their families, the Senator is showing off his wealth and “do as I say not as I do” attitude in the form of outrageously expensive meals.

There you have the latest political class insanity and their attitudes to the rest of us: I am dining out on high end, expensive steaks while ignoring the suffering of the rest of you, covid quarantine rules do not apply to us but we want to be able to come into your home and drag you off to a detention center without due process, we continue to lie about our life experiences, and it seems our ignorance and arrogance is driving you away.
