February, 2021,Political Class Insanity, Part 10 - A Governor Feasts On Taxpayer Wealth, Vice President Bestows Taxpayer Wealth, and A Governor Just Continues To Screw Up Because of His Arrogance

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) We have spoken before on how the first covid economic stimulus effort by Washington was full of favors for members of Congress and their families and supporters. Rather than support struggling ordinary Americans and American small businesses, the elite in Washington made sure that they are their cohorts were well taken care of even though there was no need to do so.

Rather than take care of struggling small businesses, Nancy Pelosi made sure the package had over a million dollars for her husband’s company even though the Pelosi family is richer than rich. Rather than help Americans who have lost their jobs, Pelosi made sure that the Kennedy Center in Washington DC got tens of millions of dollars in stimulus money even though the Center had fired all of its employees who got none of the millions of dollars.

Well, as always, Washington greed overrides Americans needs:
  • A second covid economic stimulus program has been put together.
  • One and only one university in the whole country will receive money from the American taxpayer in this effort, Howard University.
  • Howard University did not suffer significantly more than any other university or college because of the covid pandemic.
  • It does not have anything special going for it...except it is the alma mater of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Coincidence? I doubt it.

2) We have often, too often, reviewed and discussed how absolutely atrociously New York Governor Andrew Cuomo performed during the pandemic. He needlessly and fatally sent sick covid patients into nursing homes where healthy but vulnerable state nursing residents contracted covid and many times died because of his fatal decision:
  • He bitched and whined about needing ventilators, more hospital beds, more medical staff, etc. and then misused and did not use those resources that were provided to him.
  • The Jacob Javitts convention center in NYC was converted into a field hospital at great expense but rarely used.
  • Trump sent a Navy medical ship to the city but it was hardly used.
  • Trump made sure Cuomo got his ventilators which he did not need and ended up shipping them out to other states.
  • He got out-of-state medical people to come help out his citizens and then stuck them with additional New York state taxes.
  • He failed to anticipate when vaccines would be available and his lack of planning resulted in vaccine doses going bad and never being used to save olives.
  • He refused to heed his medical and health experts and nine of his top experts in the health field resigned out of frustration.
  • In the middle of the crisis, as people were dying because of his incompetence, he took time out to write a self serving book about how great he was performing.
  • He made sure that the state government underreported the number of nursing home deaths in the state for strictly political and cover up reasons, possibly breaking Federal laws.
  • Everything he touched relative to the pandemic was tragically wrong and in many cases unnecessarily fatal.
  • People died, resources were abused or underused and the results were covered up. And now it appears that he has taken another step closer to getting kicked out of office:
Rather than be humble and accept responsibility for his failures, he is lashing out to get anyone who is a threat to his career:
  • Ron Kim is a New York state government assemblyman.
  • Apparently, Mr. Kim told the NY Post about the sandbagging that Cuomo did of New York nursing home deaths.
  • Cuomo apparently was not happy his coverup and had been uncovered by Kim and called on the phone Kim, reportedly berating him for 10 minutes in a childish temper tantrum.
  • According to Kim, Cuomo threatened him if he did not retract his account of the coverup scandal and said that Cuomo said “he can destroy me.”
As what often happens with political scandals, (see: Nixon and Watergate), the coverup is worse than the original misdeed. Yes, the Cuomo decision to force elderly covid patients into nursing homes with healthy residents was horrific. But it looks like the coverup of what happened because of that horrendous decision is what could end a useless politician's career.

3) Let’s finish up today with some good old fashioned, non-fatal political corruption:
  • Michelle Lujan Grisham is the governor of New Mexico.
  • She has been accused, not convicted so far, of using thousand and thousands of taxpayer dollars for her own personal use.
  • Her personal use includes personal grocery shopping, liquor purchases and dry cleaning.
  • The cost of these personal expenses is estimated to be about $13,500.
  • The Santa Fe New Mexican detailed her personal expenses to be the purchase of high end Wagyu beef and tuna steaks, tequila, vodka, gin, wine and beer.
  • Rod Montoya is a member of the state legislature and the House minority whip: “It really appears in the Governor’s Office as if she really believes herself to be more privileged than everybody else in New Mexico. I didn’t realize the governor was so underpaid that she has to use discretionary money for things that she should be paying for herself. Legislators are all up here doing our job, and we’re doing it on per diem.”
  • Jim Townsend is the House minority leader in the state legislature: “It’s not what tax dollars ought to be spent for. In the time when people are hurting all over the state, using their tax dollars to buy Wagyu beef has got to be a little bit disenchanting to many people. I think it’s just more of [an] indication of the problem that we have had and the governor has had connecting with people.”
The entitlement of the political class always know no bounds. If true, the purchase of alcohol and the use of taxpayer wealth for personal use, then she is just another common, ordinary politician whose needs will always take precedence over the people who pay her salary and pay for her booze.

Enough insanity for today: a governor feasts on taxpayer money, a governor is going down for being callous and ignorant in his decisions, and a Vice President takes care of her own, with, of course, taxpayer money.
