October, 2021, Part 5, Political Class Insanity: Fake and Lying Presidency, Bad Priorities from Kamala and the Homeless Problem Gets More Expensive But Does Not Get Resolved.

Before we get to today’s insanity, please consider the following proposition: as many of you know, the withdrawal from Afghanistan has been a historic and fatal endeavor. But the failure did not start just in the past few weeks, it has been a twenty year disaster. It has cost American taxpayers about a trillion dollars, has left thousands of our brave armed forces folks dead, maimed, or wounded and has resulted in an unknown but substantial number of civilian deaths.

Afghanistan has been a collective failure of multiple Presidential administrations and multiple sessions of Congress. Thus, please consider signing the petition below that calls for the immediate resignation of every member of Congress that has at least twenty years of service and the resignation of President Biden, Vice President Harris, and critical, and failed, members of the Biden Administration. They do not deserve to serve any longer given their miserable twenty year track record of death, destruction and waste in Afghanistan.

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) Mostly liberal/Democratic ruled cities across the country have been experiencing massive homeless problems. And none of them have found a solution. In fact, many of them, San Francisco comes to mind, have enabled their homeless populations as opposed to resolving their homeless problem.

And Seattle, one of the most liberal and poorly run city governments in the country, has tried again to resolve their homeless problem but are failing miserably, costing city taxpayers plenty of money without any real or effective results:
  • The Seattle city government plans to spend $48 million of taxpayer money to buy three buildings of luxury apartments with outstanding views of the Space Needle and Puget Sound.
  • The city would then open up those 165 apartment units to city homeless folks currently living in tents or homeless shelters.
  • And it's not just Seattle taxpayers who are paying for this effort since Federal government dollars are being used for the building purchases.
  • “Everyone deserves a high quality, affordable place to call home,” said Emily Alvaredo, director of the Seattle Office of Housing.
  • While it may be affordable for the homeless folks that move into it, it will not be for those paying the tab for these 165 units.
  • Simple math would show that each one of these units will cost just under $300,000 each.
  • Local news reports quote real estate developers saying that new units could be built for one half to one third this $300,000 cost.
  • And the city is not done overspending since they plan to buy up other units as well, likely at the same, sky high prices.
  • The city defended its decision saying that the expensive housing units are available now and to build reasonably priced units would take a while so better to overspend taxpayer money now than be reasonable by waiting a short time.
  • Of course, as with every government project, that $48 million price tag is probably an underestimate since every government program costs more than estimated.
  • And if the city government and the politicians that operate it had any foresight to a long running problem they would have already invested in reasonably priced housing years ago.
  • Also, since the city has over 12,000 homeless folks, extending this approach to all of them would cost well over $3 billion and thus, this is not a long term solution or approach since this $48 million investment will help a very small percentage of those who are homeless, 165, or just over 1.3%.
  • A bad, expensive, and ineffective solution to a long running, multi-faceted problem, indicating how clueless Seattle politicians have been for a long time. 
  • But compared to Los Angeles, the Seattle politicians are getting a great deal. When the Los Angeles city government and politicians tried a similar approach, buying an apartment building on Skid Row for the homeless, the city paid a whopping $160 million for just 275 studio apartments, or $580,000 per apartment, This was twice what Seattle plans to pay.
Other cities, from NYC to Minneapolis, have tried similar approaches, buying up apartments and giving them to homeless folks with the same failed results. But as with all American politicians, doing the same failed and expensive strategy over and over is often par for the course.

2) As we all know, the Biden administration has created a humanitarian, drug cartel, criminal gang, human trafficking, coivd, drug addiction, and juvenile abuse crisis on our southern border. While Trump worked hard and was successful in protecting the sovereignty of our southern border and followed existing laws in doing so, Biden has failed miserably in this situation.

Months ago Biden put VP Kamala Harris in charge of the border crisis. To say she has failed miserably would be an understatement. But maybe she has failed miserably because she is so busy going on TV and other PR junkets that the border crisis is little more than an abstract, unimportant crisis to her. She recently appeared on the daytime show, “The View.” She recently took a top secret trip to California, leaving and returning in 24 hours and nobody knows why.

And now it appears that she will be hosting a NASA show called “Get Curious.” This show is intended to get younger Americans interested in NASA and space exploration. A nice concept but seriously, the country is falling apart: border crisis, inflation, pathetic job growth, covid, homelessness, and a whole raft of other crises across the country and she is wasting time and energy on a kids’ show about space. The show will only appear on NASA TV which means about two dozen people will eventually watch it.

Again, another set of horrible priorities form the American political class. And another example of a politician who does not know how to resolve real issues so she wastes time and resources on trivial tripe like this.

3) The next discussion is really quite bizarre and involves a number of contrived and faked Joe Biden “appearances” including the latest contrived situation that is the most bizarre of all:
  • Earlier this year a video from the White House supposedly showed Joe Biden walking down a hallway at the White House when he stops and appears to talk to someone off camera.
  • But then the top of his head severely pixelated, disappeared, and then reappears, indicating that this was not what it seemed to be, a casual moment in Biden’s life.
  • In another clip, Biden appears to stride up to a group of reporters on the White House lawn.
  • All you see is him and supposedly a sea of microphones in front of him… and then some of those microphones magically disappear behind his hands as he’s waving them around and vigorously “answering questions.”
  • But you never see any reporters and thus, the theory is there were none, that a video guy had green screened Biden supposedly looking confident and firmly answering questions on the White House lawn but in reality, that was just video editing being done.
  • In another case, there was a supposedly “live televised press conference” being done from the White House Rose Garden that was attended by Pelosi, Schumer, and Biden where they were talking about the covid relief legislation.
  • But at the same time of this supposedly “live” press conference, a guy staying at a local hotel walked out on his balcony and took a picture of the Rose Garden which was empty and thus, the “live” Rose Garden press conference was a sham.
  • And now the most outlandish and bizarre scam of all: it appears that many of Biden’s “Oval Office” press meetings and conferences and meetings with others did not take place in the Oval Office.
  • Apparently, a make believe Oval Office has been created across the street from the White House in the Eisenhower Office building.
  • Yes, any Oval Office Biden event you have seen over the past months has a good chance of being done in a studio dressed up to look like the real Oval Office.
  • The only reason we know about this, since the Biden administration has yet to admit to this charade, is that in the middle of winter the Rose Garden in the “Oval Office '' windows were in full bloom, something that does not happen in the winter.
The big question is why the need for such a fake Oval Office setup to conduct government business? For every other President, the Oval Office was big enough for meetings, press conferences, meetings with foreign heads of state,etc. Why was taxpayer money wasted constructing a fake Oval Office? So bizarre.

Well, maybe not so bizarre. Given Biden’s declining cognitive ability, given his tendency to say stupid stuff, given his tendency to freeze up and spout off gibberish, having some things done in a studio-based Oval Office and not the real Oval Office allows his handlers to manage/edit/minimize his ability to screw up. And given his mental decline, you know he has to have handlers.

This studio allows his handlers to control the situation, keep out pesky and uncontrolled media cameras, and allows for editing and fixing when Biden does or says something stupid. Biden can read off of a teleprompter that is just off camera and if he screws up, they can just rerun the “scene." Again, very bizarre to often make Biden do his job in a fake Oval Office studio. No other President has ever had to stoop to such low and shady dealings. But we've never had a President who was so cognitively decimated and out of touch either.

That will do it for today: a fake and lying Presidency, bad priorities from Kamala and the homeless problem gets more expensive but does not get resolved.

April, 2014 Political Class Insanity, Part 10: Denying Reality, Biden Embarrasses Again, The Collapse of Afghanistan and More Pivoting Toe The Economy

This will be our tenth and final post this month on the latest political class insanity from our politicians. Ten posts in one month to cover just their latest bouts of idiocy, ineptness, wasteful spending and just plain lunacy sets an all time record, indicating that our politicians are getting worse, not better, in protecting us, spending our wealth wisely, and protecting our freedoms.

Today will be a set of quick hitters just so we can wrap up everything for this month. Where appropriate, we will include the links that can be accessed directly for further details and information.

1) It is no secret that the current set of politicians have done a lousy job managing and growing the economy. Over 20 million Americans are unemployed or under employed, long term unemployment rates set a new record every month, household income has dropped severely ever since the recession ended, etc. Horrible, horrible job of economic analysis and policy.

However, that does not mean that our politicians do not pretend to know and care about the economy. The following humorous video shows how many times that this failed Presidential administration has “pivoted” to the economy. They appear to show interest in improving our economic lives but obviously have no idea how to do it. They have “pivoted” to the economy so many times they just have made themselves dizzy from trying with no discernible positive results: 


2) I would bet that most Americans object to the Obamas, both the President and First Lady, taking so many lavish vacations on the American’s taxpayers’ wealth. Spain, Mexico, Ireland, China, Hawaii, skiing in Aspen, many, many golf vacations, etc. are just a few of the many times they enjoyed themselves at our expense despite the struggles that ordinary Americans find themselves facing everyday I this horrible economy.

But they are not the only ones that are taking advantage of us. Vice President Joe Biden recently and publicly revealed that taking his grandkids on government trips is “one of the great advantages of being Vice President.” Really, shouldn’t one of the great advantages of being Vice President be to serve the country and its citizens? Who pays to take your grandkids on these trips? Pathetic leadership in tough economic times:


3)A recent report from the Washington Times reports on confidential government documents which predict the Afghanistan government, that the American taxpayer has propped up for the past tens years plus, will be incapable of surviving once American and other friendly troops leave later this year:
  • According to the report, the State Department is trying to hide this doomsday assessment from the public which shows that nearly every Afghan government agency is “woefully ill-prepared to govern after the U.S. withdraws its troops.”
  • The analysis found that large gaps existed in government knowledge, capability and safeguards and that the whole government is likely to collapse without continued U.S. support.
  • The Washington Times, based on the State Department documents, says that those documents “paint a sobering portrait about the impact of the billions of dollars the U.S. has spent on nation-building over the past decade.”
  • The reports prove that the massive U.S. spending has yet to create a sustainable government in Afghanistan and, in many cases, U.S. taxpayer wealth has been diverted to corrupt politicians or Taliban looking to destabilize the country
Great, over ten years, billions and billions of dollars, thousands of American servicemen and women dead and wounded, all spent for nothing. Yep, sounds about right for a typical political class program. 

4) President Obama recently proclaimed that Joe Biden was one of the greatest Vice Presidents ever. When the President makes statements like these you wonder if he is really in touch with reality. I know of not a single accomplishment of the Biden Vice Presidency. I know of no negotiation or government action that he has initiated that resulted in a net positive impact on Americans.

However, I do know that the Vice President has stuck his foot in his mouth too many times to count, embarrassing himself and the country so many times:
  • “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent…. I’m not joking.” –in a private remark to an Indian-American man caught on C-SPAN, June, 2006 
  • “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” –referring to Barack Obama at the beginning of the 2008 Democratic primary campaign, Jan. 31, 2007 
  • “His mom lived in Long Island for ten years or so. God rest her soul. And- although, she’s- wait- your mom’s still- your mom’s still alive. Your dad passed. God bless her soul.” –on the mother of Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen, who is very much alive, Washington, D.C., March 17, 2010 
  • “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me.” –speaking at a town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, Sept. 10, 2008 
  • “Stand up, Chuck, let ‘em see ya.” –to Missouri state Sen. Chuck Graham, who is in a wheelchair, Columbia, Missouri, Sept. 12, 2008 
  • “This is a big f**king deal!” –caught on an open mic congratulating President Barack Obama during the health care signing ceremony, Washington, D.C., March 23, 2010 
This type of behavior, coupled with no other accomplishments, makes him not the one of the greatest Vice Presidents of all time, it makes him one of the most embarrassing and inept Vice Presidents of all time.

The above embarrassments do not include the long interview he gave to Katie Couric early in the Obama Presidency. In that interview he asserts that when the Great Depression started, President FDR went on television to calm the nation and show leadership in tough times. 

The only problem is that the Great Depression started years before FDR was in office and no one in the FDR era had a television. An educated person, especially one that is a heart beat away form the Presidency should be more educated than that. That embarrassment should have given us all a clue what was to come.

But last week the Vice President stooped to embarrassing levels even for him. During comments at a memorial service in Boston on the first anniversary of the Marathon bombing, one of the “greatest vice presidents in history” said:

“Let me say to those ‘quote survivors,’ my God, you have survived and you have soared. IT WAS WORTH IT. I mean this sincerely – just to hear each of you speak. You’re truly, truly inspiring.”

It was worth it??? It was worth having limbs blown off and suffering the pain and agony of medical treatment and rehabilitation? Pathetic leadership and extreme insensitivity to his fellow citizens.

5) Let’s stay with the Boston bombing anniversary and see how the Vice President was not the only politician to embarrass himself. Consider the official White House statement that the President issued on the bombing:

A year ago, tragedy struck at the 117th Boston Marathon. Four innocent people were killed that week, and hundreds more were wounded. Today, we remember Krystle Campbell, Lingzi Lu, Martin Richard, and Sean Collier. And we send our thoughts and prayers to those still struggling to recover.

We also know that the most vivid Images from that day were not of smoke and chaos, but of compassion, kindness and strength: A man in a cowboy hat helping a wounded stranger out of harm’s way; runners embracing loved ones, and each other; an EMT carrying a spectator to safety. 

Today, we recognize the incredible courage and leadership of so many Bostonians in the wake of unspeakable tragedy. And we offer our deepest gratitude to the courageous firefighters, police officers, medical professionals, runners and spectators who, in an instant, displayed the spirit Boston was built on – perseverance, freedom and love.

One year later, we also stand in awe of the men and women who continue to inspire us – learning to stand, walk, dance and run again. With each new step our country is moved by the resilience of a community and a city. And when the sun rises over Boylston Street next Monday – Patriot’s Day – hundreds of thousands will come together to show the world the meaning of Boston Strong as a city chooses to run again.

Notice a few things missing from the statement:
  • Although this was a classic terrorism attack, violence based on a doctrine of violence and intolerance, nowhere in the President’s statement is the word terror or terrorism mentioned.
  • Nowhere in his statement are the words bomb or bombing mentioned although it was a bombing involving two bombs.
  • Nowhere does he mention the reality and fact that the two bombers were motivated by extremist Islamist beliefs and doctrine.
How can one ignore these facts and realities in light of this terrible tragedy? But this is the mode of this President, always downplaying the violence, the intentions, and underlying Islamic fanaticism of terrorists in order to not insult them.

Ignoring a problem or failing to acknowledge it does not make it go away or resolve it, Mr. President. Until we face the reality of Islamic terrorists we will never be prepared to defeat it. Not the religion of Islam, just the terrorists who use it as a shield. But facing reality has never been a trait of this Presidency or the American political class.

That will do it for now. A Vice President that likes to take his grandkids on official government trips on taxpayer expense, a Vice President who continually embarrasses himself and the country whenever he speaks in public, historical levels of waste of our country’s time, wealth, blood, and diplomacy supporting a shaky and near collapse Afghan government, a Presidency that pivots to the economy so many times that it just ends up going in circles, and a President that continually denies reality by either claiming that Joe Biden is great or that Islamic terrorism does not exist. You cannot get any more insane that this.

But, you can bet there will be more political class insanity next month, same time, same place, same ineffective and lame political class actions.
