November, 2019, Part 4, Political Class Insanity: More Wasted Taxpayer Wealth In Baltimore, More Idiocy From Ocasio-Cortez, and More Intolerance From California Democrats.

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Baltimore had been in the news a few months ago when President Trump rightfully pointed out what a mess it was from a crime, rat infestation, and garbage perspective. And this mess was occurring despite the city constantly getting millions and millions of dollars in Federal taxpayer aid.

Specifically, Trump got into a very public spat with the Congressman whose district covered most of the city, Elijah Cummings, and how Cummings spent much more of his time trying to enrich his own wife and impeach Trump than caring and taking care of the voters in his district.

Unfortunately, since then Mr.Cummings has passed away. However, corruption still exists in his hometown of Baltimore as a recent Baltimore Sun report recently pointed out:

• An audit of the city’s finances showed that there were still massive accounting problems in tracking state and Federal grant dollars that were given to the city.
• Specifically: “Grant money coming into government coffers is not balancing out with what city agencies are spending.”
• According to the city auditor, Audrey Askew: “The city is not able to establish accurate balances of grant accounts.”
• One potential fallout is that the city could begin losing grant funding from the state and the Federal government due to these lax accounting results.
• Losing these funds could be a disaster since the city gets about $448 million a year in grants which is a whopping 16% of its total budget. 
• Not surprisingly, the city politicians were outraged even though in reality it is their job as the city’s leadership to make sure this does not happen: City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young: “I don’t understand how we can have a problem with grants. That has to really stop. If the grants don’t add up … the federal government is going to come and they’re going to want their money. We’re going to owe thousands, maybe millions of dollars.”
• He really wants it to stop but proposed no way to make it stop.
• And this is not a new problem, apparently the accounting has been awful for years and years.
• Back in 2014 an audit found that as much as $40 million in grant money was unaccounted for.
• In 2015 the Baltimore Housing Authority approved $6.2 million in questionable payments including granting city money to three dozen households that did not even reside in the city.
• Auditor Askew found that it was impossible to determine if the grant money was actually being spent as it was intended.

So, just another day of American government and politics. Wasted taxpayer money that vanishes, promises to fix a dysfunctional government accounting process that never gets fixed and politicians blaming everyone else but themselves.

2) I believe that when people are sworn into being members of Congress they swear to uphold the laws of the land. Of course, if any clown in Congress is going to renege on that promise, it is not a surprise that it is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Ocasio-Cortez has been a continuous flow of ignorance and arrogance, expounding on just about any topic and knowing nothing about any of those topics. But she recently broke her uphold the laws vow relative to rioting in New York City:

In Brooklyn recently, there was a violent demonstration because, shock, police were going to crackdown on subway toll evaders, so-called turnstile jumpers. Since this is law breaking, and the police are charged with enforcing the law, that is what they do. But Ocasio-Cortez thinks breaking the law is just fine:

• She said she was in support of the anti-police protest despite the police trying to do their job and preventing turnstile jumping.
• Specifically: “Ending mass incarceration means challenging a system that jails the poor to free the rich. Arresting people who can’t afford a $2.75 fare makes no one safer and destabilizes our community.”
• What in the world does that gibberish mean, putting poor people in jail is going to get rich people released from jail?
• If she does not want lawbreakers going to jail, then change the law, that is how a civilized society works.
• But if you are going to make the subways free, then where are you going to get the revenue to keep them running or had you not thought that far in advance or that deeply, your typical approach to a situation?
• By the way, some of the demonstrators/rioters attacked a bus with innocent people inside, no mention from the good Congresswoman if that was also okay to do.
• The good Congresswoman also did not have a view on some of the vile things the protesters were saying about the NYPD officers who were just doing their law enforcement jobs: “Punch that cop!” “Don’t let these pigs touch us,” “F—k NYPD,” and "NYPD KKK".

Rather than be a leader and coming up with solutions, she is a divider, supporting criminals and lawbreakers, supporting the spreading of hatred and not supporting the people that protect us everyday and who were just doing their jobs.

3) While we have very little regard for most American politicians regardless of where they reside in the country, the ones in California have been a source of a lot of material for this blog. Their ineptness to do anything right has turned California into a desperate, dirty, contaminated, and financially ruined entity.

But we also need to add hypocrisy to their negative traits. Liberal California politicians were quick to jump down Trump’s throat when he looked to impose a travel ban to prevent Islamic terrorists from coming into the country, calling him among other things a bigot and intolerant. How dare he discriminate against others who simply have a different opinion or religion from him!

But their hypocrisy shines through when the shoe is on the other foot and they go nuts and take actions against other Americans who have a different opinion than them:

• If your state has a different view on LGBTQ rights or abortion, then you must be punished, according to California politicians, they have no tolerance for such nonsense in their eyes.
• According to San Francisco Mayor London Breed: “Just as we restricted spending with states that have laws that discriminate against LGBTQ people, we are standing up against states that put women’s health at risk and that are actively working to limit reproductive freedoms. By limiting travel and contracting with certain states, we are sending a clear message to states that disregard the right to abortion.”
• Never mind that his city is financially headed for bankruptcy, that his city streets are filled with mountains of human excrement and garbage, that there are tens of thousands of homeless wandering his streets, he is focused on debasing the views of people across the country that have nothing to do with his city.
• The states that him and fellow politicians have blacklisted for daring to have a different opinion are: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
• City employees and organizations are not allowed to use city tax revenue to travel to these, in reality a travel ban, the same thing that they went crazy against when Trump proposed it.
• But Trump did it to keep out Islamic terrorists, these San Francisco folks do it to punish law abiding Americans exercising their voting and First Amendment rights.

That will do it for today: more intolerance from liberal politicians, more idiocy from our favorite politician for crazy statements and views, and more corruption and wasted taxpayer wealth. It never ends.

August, 2014 Political Class Insanity, Part 5: Barack and Hillary Get Indicted, A Country Run By Idiots, and Alternative Realities

This is our fifth post this month, and still not our last, in our monthly attempt to document and review all of the insanity and disasters that emanate from the American political class. When we started this monthly series several years ago, we could usually get all of the insanity covered in one to two post each month. 

However, over time, that one to two day timeframe has grown exponentially. So much so that we now usually need 5-7 posts each month to get all of the stupid quotes, wasteful spending, and ineffective governing covered. This month is no exception.

1) I often wonder what universe or world American politicians live in. Their statements often indicate that they are not of our reality. Previous proof and quotes of their otherworldy existence and reality have been discussed previously in this blog. For example:

• Nancy Pelosi once lamented that 500 million Americans were lsing their jobs every month even though there are only about 300 million Americans living in the country today. That kind of math does not work in our reality but apparently does in hers.
• A Georgia Congressman once worried in a public Congressional hearing that the island of Guam might tip over in the Pacific Ocean. That is physically impossible in our reality but apparently possible in his reality. 
• Joe Biden once claimed that when the Great Depression hit, President Franlin Delano Roosevelt went on television to calm and reassure the nation that everything would be alright. In our reality, the Great Depression started three years before Roosevelt became president and television did not exist. I guess that Biden resides in a reality with a whole different timeline than ours.

You get the idea, you often have to scratch you head when they speak and wonder what in the world are they saying and thinking.

Which gets us to the latest out of this world set of quotes from the Democratic wing of the American political class. As most informed people know, our southern border with Mexico has been recently overrun with a flood of people, tens of thousands of people, from Central and south American countries, many of them mere children trying to get into this country. Their sheer numbers are overwhelming the Border Patrol resources.

There are so many people flooding in that the Federal government is shipping tens of thousands of people to locations all over the country. From a more dangerous perspective, Muslim literature and prayer rugs have been found along the border, possibly indicating that Islamic terror cells have crossed over in the mass wave of humanity.

And in the background, the order continues to be a sieve when it comes to stopping the massive amount of illegal drugs and human trafficking being carried out by the Mexican drug cartels. The situation has become so dangerous, volatile, and bad, that Texas governor is deploying armed national Guard troops on the border to try and protect his state citizens. A bad, bad situation from any angle.

And in the face of all this chaos, many, many members of the democratic wing of the political class insist that “the border is secure.” Huh? How can the border be secure when adult foreigners, foreign children, possible terrorists, and drug cartel activities are making border control a myth? Their drone is so consistent across all speakers that it is almost zombie like, the…border…is…secure. Not in our reality it is.

2) In what is probably a first for any sitting President and a former Secretary of State, Egyptian lawmakers have criminally charged Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton with conspiring with the Muslim Brotherhood:

• Obama has been named as an accessory to crimes committed by the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, with the charge reading that Obama “…cooperated, incited, and assisted the armed elements of the Muslim Brotherhood in the commission of crimes…”. These crimes include murder, rape, torture, extortion, bribery, enslavement, and the ethnic cleansing of Egyptian Coptic Christians.
• Hillary Clinton was found to be working with ousted Muslim Brotherhood president Mohammed Morsi’s wife, Naglaa Mahmood, in attempting to overthrow the current leader of Egypt, General Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi.
• Naglaa Mahmood has openly admitted that her relationship with the Clintons dates back to the 1980's, and she has hundreds of recorded telephone conversations with Hillary and other White House officials.
• There is also a charge that Obama and Clinton conspired to bribe the Muslim Brotherhood with $8 billion to turn over part of the Sinai Peninsula to Hamas, in order for them to launch attacks against Israel.

Does no look like the pyramids will be a future vacation spot for either the Obama or Clinton families, especially if they could get arrested once they enter Egypt. How embarrassing for the country, wanted fugitives leading the country and its foreign affairs.

3) The following list comes from the Godfather Politics website and is attributed to a man named Fritz Edmunds. It has been circulating around the Internet for a little while so you may have seen it already.

However, in any discussion of political class insanity, it is a worthwhile piece of reality to review. It shows how out of touch, how idiotic, and how inane many of our politicians and the rules and laws they pass have become. Truly stupid, illogical and often insulting to common sense and our freedoms:

11 Facts that Show We Live in a Country Run By Idiots

1. If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally, you live in a country run by idiots.

2. If you have to get your parents' permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion, you live in a country run by idiots.

3. If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote on who runs the government, you live in a country run by idiots.

4. If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy leaders in Egypt, you live in a country run by idiots.

5. If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat, you live in a country run by idiots.

6. If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched, you live in a country run by idiots.

7. If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more, you live in a country run by idiots.

8. If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of grade school for saying his teacher's "cute," but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable, you live in a country run by idiots.

9. If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing and free cell phones, you live in a country run by idiots.

10. If the government's plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working, with 99 weeks of unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can't find work, you live in a country run by idiots.

11. If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more "safe" according to the government, you live in a country run by idiots.

If you are offended by this article, you probably voted for the idiots who are running our country into the ground.

Both lists show that we are being governed, and often bullied, by the worst set of politicians in the history of this country. Rather than work on the half dozen or so critical issues facing most Americans (e.g. long term unemployment, anemic economic growth, a lost war on drugs, a leaky border, ever rising health care costs, a lack of a national energy strategy and policy), the current set of [politicians worry about how much soda we drink, shredding the Second Amendment, strip searching little old ladeis, being the largest arms merchant in the world, etc., then we truly have devolved from a country found by geniuses by run by idiots.

That will do it for today. Idiots running the country when not living in alternative universes and realities, and a President and former Secretary of State being cited for massive and serious crimes in a foreign country. I would say it cannot get much worse than that but who knows what insanity tomorrow will bring when we continue our reporting on political class insanity.

April, 2014 Political Class Insanity, Part 10: Denying Reality, Biden Embarrasses Again, The Collapse of Afghanistan and More Pivoting Toe The Economy

This will be our tenth and final post this month on the latest political class insanity from our politicians. Ten posts in one month to cover just their latest bouts of idiocy, ineptness, wasteful spending and just plain lunacy sets an all time record, indicating that our politicians are getting worse, not better, in protecting us, spending our wealth wisely, and protecting our freedoms.

Today will be a set of quick hitters just so we can wrap up everything for this month. Where appropriate, we will include the links that can be accessed directly for further details and information.

1) It is no secret that the current set of politicians have done a lousy job managing and growing the economy. Over 20 million Americans are unemployed or under employed, long term unemployment rates set a new record every month, household income has dropped severely ever since the recession ended, etc. Horrible, horrible job of economic analysis and policy.

However, that does not mean that our politicians do not pretend to know and care about the economy. The following humorous video shows how many times that this failed Presidential administration has “pivoted” to the economy. They appear to show interest in improving our economic lives but obviously have no idea how to do it. 2) I would bet that most Americans object to the Obamas, both the President and First Lady, taking so many lavish vacations on the American’s taxpayers’ wealth. Spain, Mexico, Ireland, China, Hawaii, skiing in Aspen, many, many golf vacations, etc. are just a few of the many times they enjoyed themselves at our expense despite the struggles that ordinary Americans find themselves facing everyday I this horrible economy.

But they are not the only ones that are taking advantage of us. Vice President Joe Biden recently and publicly revealed that taking his grandkids on government trips is “one of the great advantages of being Vice President.” Really, shouldn’t one of the great advantages of being Vice President be to serve the country and its citizens? Who pays to take your grandkids on these trips? Pathetic leadership in tough economic times:

3)A recent report from the Washington Times reports on confidential government documents which predict the Afghanistan government, that the American taxpayer has propped up for the past tens years plus, will be incapable of surviving once American and other friendly troops leave later this year:

• According to the report, the State Department is trying to hide this doomsday assessment from the public which shows that nearly every Afghan government agency is “woefully ill-prepared to govern after the U.S. withdraws its troops.”
• The analysis found that large gaps existed in government knowledge, capability and safeguards and that the whole government is likely to collapse without continued U.S. support.
• The Washington Times, based on the State Department documents, says that those documents “paint a sobering portrait about the impact of the billions of dollars the U.S. has spent on nation-building over the past decade.”
• The reports prove that the massive U.S. spending has yet to create a sustainable government in Afghanistan and, in many cases, U.S. taxpayer wealth has been diverted to corrupt politicians or Taliban looking to destabilize the country

Great, over ten years, billions and billions of dollars, thousands of American servicemen and women dead and wounded, all spent for nothing. Yep, sounds about right for a typical political class program. 

4) President Obama recently proclaimed that Joe Biden was one of the greatest Vice Presidents ever. When the President makes statements like these you wonder if he is really in touch with reality. I know of not a single accomplishment of the Biden Vice Presidency. I know of no negotiation or government action that he has initiated that resulted in a net positive impact on Americans.

However, I do know that the Vice President has stuck his foot in his mouth too many times to count, embarrassing himself and the country so many times:

• “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent…. I’m not joking.” –in a private remark to an Indian-American man caught on C-SPAN, June, 2006 
• “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” –referring to Barack Obama at the beginning of the 2008 Democratic primary campaign, Jan. 31, 2007 
• “His mom lived in Long Island for ten years or so. God rest her soul. And- although, she’s- wait- your mom’s still- your mom’s still alive. Your dad passed. God bless her soul.” –on the mother of Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen, who is very much alive, Washington, D.C., March 17, 2010 
• “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me.” –speaking at a town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, Sept. 10, 2008 
• “Stand up, Chuck, let ‘em see ya.” –to Missouri state Sen. Chuck Graham, who is in a wheelchair, Columbia, Missouri, Sept. 12, 2008 
• “This is a big f**king deal!” –caught on an open mic congratulating President Barack Obama during the health care signing ceremony, Washington, D.C., March 23, 2010 

This type of behavior, coupled with no other accomplishments, makes him not the one of the greatest Vice Presidents of all time, it makes him one of the most embarrassing and inept Vice Presidents of all time.

The above embarrassments do not include the long interview he gave to Katie Couric early in the Obama Presidency. In that interview he asserts that when the Great Depression started, President FDR went on television to calm the nation and show leadership in tough times. 

The only problem is that the Great Depression started years before FDR was in office and no one in the FDR era had a television. An educated person, especially one that is a heart beat away form the Presidency should be more educated than that. That embarrassment should have given us all a clue what was to come.

But last week the Vice President stooped to embarrassing levels even for him. During comments at a memorial service in Boston on the first anniversary of the Marathon bombing, one of the “greatest vice presidents in history” said:

“Let me say to those ‘quote survivors,’ my God, you have survived and you have soared. IT WAS WORTH IT. I mean this sincerely – just to hear each of you speak. You’re truly, truly inspiring.”

It was worth it??? It was worth having limbs blown off and suffering the pain and agony of medical treatment and rehabilitation? Pathetic leadership and extreme insensitivity to his fellow citizens.

5) Let’s stay with the Boston bombing anniversary and see how the Vice President was not the only politician to embarrass himself. Consider the official White House statement that the President issued on the bombing:

A year ago, tragedy struck at the 117th Boston Marathon. Four innocent people were killed that week, and hundreds more were wounded. Today, we remember Krystle Campbell, Lingzi Lu, Martin Richard, and Sean Collier. And we send our thoughts and prayers to those still struggling to recover.

We also know that the most vivid Images from that day were not of smoke and chaos, but of compassion, kindness and strength: A man in a cowboy hat helping a wounded stranger out of harm’s way; runners embracing loved ones, and each other; an EMT carrying a spectator to safety. 

Today, we recognize the incredible courage and leadership of so many Bostonians in the wake of unspeakable tragedy. And we offer our deepest gratitude to the courageous firefighters, police officers, medical professionals, runners and spectators who, in an instant, displayed the spirit Boston was built on – perseverance, freedom and love.

One year later, we also stand in awe of the men and women who continue to inspire us – learning to stand, walk, dance and run again. With each new step our country is moved by the resilience of a community and a city. And when the sun rises over Boylston Street next Monday – Patriot’s Day – hundreds of thousands will come together to show the world the meaning of Boston Strong as a city chooses to run again.

Notice a few things missing from the statement:

• Although this was a classic terrorism attack, violence based on a doctrine of violence and intolerance, nowhere in the President’s statement is the word terror or terrorism mentioned.
• Nowhere in his statement are the words bomb or bombing mentioned although it was a bombing involving two bombs.
• Nowhere does he mention the reality and fact that the two bombers were motivated by extremist Islamist beliefs and doctrine.

How can one ignore these facts and realities in light of this terrible tragedy? But this is the mode of this President, always downplaying the violence, the intentions, and underlying Islamic fanaticism of terrorists in order to not insult them.

Ignoring a problem or failing to acknowledge it does not make it go away or resolve it, Mr. President. Until we face the reality of Islamic terrorists we will never be prepared to defeat it. Not the religion of Islam, just the terrorists who use it as a shield. But facing reality has never been a trait of this Presidency or the American political class.

That will do it for now. A Vice President that likes to take his grandkids on official government trips on taxpayer expense, a Vice President who continually embarrasses himself and the country whenever he speaks in public, historical levels of waste of our country’s time, wealth, blood, and diplomacy supporting a shaky and near collapse Afghan government, a Presidency that pivots to the economy so many times that it just ends up going in circles, and a President that continually denies reality by either claiming that Joe Biden is great or that Islamic terrorism does not exist. You cannot get any more insane that this.

But, you can bet there will be more political class insanity next month, same time, same place, same ineffective and lame political class actions.

May, 2013 Political Class Insanity, Part 6: More Washington Stupidity and How To Solve It

This is the final post in this month’s series of posts that cover the insanity from the American political class. This month’s series set a record for the most insanity in that it required six posts to get it all covered. At some point soon, if the current set of politicians continues on their road of lunacy we may need to rename this blog the “Political Class Insanity” blog.

Today we will look at some final acts of insanity but also set forth some changes to our political processes that are needed to get this insanity and waste out of the country. This lunacy not only wastes valuable taxpayer wealth but also strips out our liberty and freedom from our lives.

1) The Hill reported on April 29, 2013 that about a dozen Democratic Congress people are pushing an interesting, if inane, resolution. They are calling on Congress to recognize that climate change is hurting women more than men, and could even drive poor women to "transactional sex" for survival. In other words, global warming, if it exists, will result in more women turning to prostitution:

"[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health."

Okay, even if we buy the global warming theory, where is the proof, rather than opinion, that prostitution will increase? Plus, don’t we have enough on our plates in the immediate future such as the unraveling of Obama Care, an anemic economy, high unemployment, etc. that should have the current attention of Washington?

This resolution is just that, only a statement, it does not call for funding, it does not call for concrete action, it does not call for resolution of the alleged problem , etc. it just asks for a statement of opinion. Pathetic priorities. The Titantic is sinking and these politicians are worried and spending time and resources on something that may or may not happen decades from now.

2) The Associated Press reported on April 5, 2013 that NASA is planning for a robot controlled spaceship to lasso a small asteroid and park it near the moon for astronauts to explore. Yes, the Obama administration, according to the article, is planning on asking for $100 million in its 2014 budget to explore this possibility, capturing a small asteroid. Dang, you cannot make this stuff up.

The robotic ship would capture the 500-ton 25-foot asteroid in 2019. Then, using a yet-to-be-developed Orion space capsule, a crew of four astronauts would park themselves next to the asteroid in 2021 and conduct spacewalking explorations.

The $100 million would be used to find the right asteroid. Lord knows how many more tens of billions of dollars will be needed to actually put together the program, training, logistics, equipment, etc. to execute the catch, capture, and explore aspects.

How would this capture work? According to the article, it would work like the space equivalent of "a baggie with a drawstring.” NASA’s ship would then attach a yet-to-be-developed solar propulsion module to the asteroid to de-spin it and then bring the asteroid to where they wanted to park it. The Senator supporting such an endeavor in the Senator, Bill Nelson of Florida, makes the rather sizeable jump in logic that doing this project, besides protecting votes in his state, would help us understand how to guide an asteroid away from a collision with earth.

Okay, let’s talk about real priorities:

- Probability that today well over 20 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed: 100%

- Probability that today we are fast approaching a incomprehensible national debt of $17 TRILLION: 100%

- Probability that today tens of millions of Americans are going hungry every day because of an anemic economy: 100%

- Probability that today our public schools are failing miserably to educate our kids today: 100%

- Probability that today we have a leaky border that is resulting in an immense illegal alien and drug control problem: 100%

- Probability that today Americans and Americans businesses are taxed at such a high level that taxation in this country has really morphed into repression: 100%

- Probability that the world will be destroyed in the near future by an asteroid: Barely measurable.

Yes, an asteroid could hit us in the near future. But could we take care of some more immediate problems that affect just about every American today before we throw limited resources and wealth at a problem that may never occur and which is decades and billions of dollars away from being possible.

Back to Senator Nelson. Even if this far fetched idea was possible, i.e. we could “lasso” a small asteroid and control it, how does that translate to a mega-sized asteroid that would destroy the earth and which we would have no chance to stop it in space, de-spin it, and nudge it? Makes no sense.

NASA also wants to go to Mars. We know from life experience that the more things government does, the more things get screwed up. Focus on fixing the short term earthly priorities and focus only on the Mars effort. Gives everything a much better chance of getting resolved without this space lasso trick.

3) In a CNBC report from April 30, 2013, a study by the St. Louis Federal Reserve found that of the $108 billion paid out in unemployment benefits in 2011, at least $3.3 billion was paid out dishonestly in benefits to people who are still working, no longer alive, or, get this, are behind bars. The largest share of the fraud payments,$2.2 billion, went to people who were still working.

The report also contained some other disgusting fraud results:

• Nearly 3,200 households making more than $1 million per year received unemployment benefits during the economic downturn.
• That fraud amounted to $80 million paid out by the government or enough to keep the White House tours going for over 80 years and keep the FAA air traffic controllers staffed for lord knows how long.
• Other people illegally collecting benefits include prisoners such as inmates in Philadelphia's prison system fraudulently who collected $7 million in unemployment benefits while behind bars in 2011.
• Benefits are also continued going out to people who have died but have not been purged from the government rolls.

This is what the St. Louis Federal Reserve was able to identify as fraud. It is unknown how much more fraud goes on that is not identified by their efforts simply because criminals may be better at hiding their fraud than government employees are in identifying the fraud.

Oh, and please do not tell me that on a percentage basis this is good government. $3.3 billion or more is a lot of money and the government has been doing this function for decades. They should know how to do it much better by now.

4) Let’s finish up this month’s political class insanity with the most disgusting affront to the American taxpayer that has come along in a long time. The Boston Herald has reported that the Tsarnaev brothers, the Islamic terrorists who are suspected of executing the horrific marathon bombings and the murder of a local policeman, have received from more than $100,000 in taxpayer welfare funding:

The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance — a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned.

"The breadth of the benefits the family was receiving was stunning," said a person with knowledge of documents handed over to a legislative committee today.

How much more disgraceful can this political class become and how much more dysfunctional can the government it operates become? Terrorists blow us up, killing and maiming untold numbers of innocent Americans and many of those maimed and killed Americans had their taxes go to funding the terrorists’ life styles? Words escape me on this grand level of incompetence.

Okay, let’s stop talking about political class insanity and start talking about how we fix the situation. We have moved way beyond the point where can assume that these people will ever have the initiative, intelligence, and wherewithal to fix what ails our government processes, operations, and the major issues of our times.

Thus, we are going to have to do this ourselves, starting with at least the following steps from “Love My Country, Loathe My Government:”

1. Step 39 would impose term limits on every Washington politicians, one and done. They have forfeited their right to be in office any longer, we need a fresh set of people, ideas, and integrity to start fixing what is wrong.
2. Step 44 would not allow any Federal taxpayer money to be used on any government program or project unless it significantly affected the citizens of at least five states. This simple rule would greatly reduce wasteful spending since stupid expenses like developing a prom week simulator video game, studying the sexual behavior of New Zealand snails, and other such nonsense would ever be underwritten by the American taxpayer.
3. Step 6 would not allow any business, PAC, union, or lobbyist group to contribute to any political campaign. When the founding fathers put freedom of speech into the Constitution I am quite sure they were worried about freedom of speech of individual citizens, not large organizations. Thus, this step would allow only individual citizens directly contribute to a politician’s election campaign.
4. Step 7 would not allow anyone to contribute to a political campaign who was not directly affected by that campaign’s results. For example, a citizen in Kansas, no matter how rich, could not contribute to a Congressional campaign in a New Jersey district.
5. Not directly included in the book but totally necessary is a full court press to get the criminal fraud and waste out of our social safety net programs. Many times we have reported on how the Federal government loses well over $200 billion a year in its Social Security, Medicare food aid, and other welfare-like programs to fraud and waste.
6. We also need to overhaul the IRS so that it protects the rights and privacy of citizens but finally gets around to collecting the over $380 billion a year that it fails to collect from tax evaders every year.

We are a great country served by a horribly underperforming political class. Unless we start executing these steps as soon as possible, the insanity coming out of Washington will eventually overwhelm the great promise of this country. Einstein forecasted this would happen long ago:

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Seems like he had our current political class in mind when this gem was spoken.
