Revisiting Benghazi: What Might Have Really Happened, What Might Have Been The Underlying Cause of the Disaster, and How It All Ties Together In Corruption at The Highest Levels Of Government

 Let’s take a break from discussing wasteful government  spending, failed government programs, criminal activity and convictions of elected representatives, and other political class nonsense and briefly revisit the Benghazi incident from 2012. A quick review:

• On September 11. 2012, al Qaeda terrorists attacked the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.

• Libya was in a total state of turmoil with various terrorist groups and  militias trying to take over the country.

• For some reason, U.S. diplomat Christopher Stevens was in the country under circumstances that were never really explained since that wasn't his assigned diplomatic post.

• In the midst of the attack, most Americans pon site had escaped to a local CIA safe house but the ambassador and government information officer, Sean Smith, did not get out in time and went into a safe room inside the mission.

• Unfortunately, the terrorists found them and they were eventually murdered, with Mr. Stevens’ body dragged through the streets before his body was recovered.

• Two attacks on the safe house were repelled but it resulted in the deaths of two brave security officials, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.

• Many questions arose out of the attacks included what was Ambassador Stevens’ duty and assignment in the country, why were relief forces sent in sooner to rescue the remaining Americans (who probably lived only because of the  military training and brave exploits of Mr. Woods and Mr. Doherty), and who came up with the ridiculous and inane idea that the attacks were caused by a very, very obscure anti-Muslim YouTube video?

And now consider some of the “conspiracy” theories that turned out to be true even though they were reported and ridiculed by the mass media:

• The mass media reported extensively on the Trump/Russian collusion theory ….but it was false.

• The mass media reported extensively that the Hunter Biden laptop was a classic Russian disinformation effort ….  but it was false.

• The  mass media reported extensively that Joe Biden was sharp as a tack and in good cognitive condition  …. but it was false.

• The mass media extensively reported that the Covid virus originated in nature ….. but it was false.

• The mass media extensively reported that Trump was the only person wearing blue at the recent funeral for the Pope …. But it was false.

• And finally the mass media extensively reported that the above referenced obscure YouTube video caused the benghazi terrorist attack.

Given all  of the above, consider the following, unsourced analysis on what may have really been the reason for the Benghazi disaster and unnecessary deaths:

Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to secretly retrieve US made Stinger Missiles that the State Dept had supplied to Ansar al Sharia in Libya WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission.

Sec State Hillary Clinton had brokered the Libya deal through Ambassador Stevens and a Private Arms Dealer named Marc Turi, but some of the shoulder fired Stinger Missiles ended up in Afghanistan where they were used against our own military. On July 25th, 2012, a US Chinook helicopter was downed by one of them. Not destroyed only because the idiot Taliban didn't arm the missile. The helicopter didn't explode, but it had to land and an ordnance team recovered the missile’s serial number which led back to a cache of Stinger Missiles kept in

Qatar by the CIA.

Obama and Hillary were in full panic mode, so Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to retrieve the rest of the Stinger Missiles. This was a "do-or-die" mission, which explains the Stand Down Orders given to multiple rescue teams during the siege of the US Embassy.

It was the State Dept, NOT the CIA, that supplied the Stinger Missiles to our sworn enemies because Gen. Petraeus at CIA would not approve supplying the deadly missiles due to their potential use against commercial aircraft. So then, Obama threw Gen. Petraeus under the bus when he refused to testify in support of Obama’s phony claim of a “spontaneous uprising caused by a YouTube video that insulted Muslims.”

Obama and Hillary committed TREASON!

THIS is what the investigation is all about, WHY she had a Private Server, (in order to delete the digital evidence), and WHY Obama, two weeks after the attack, told the UN that the attack was the result of the YouTube video, even though everyone KNEW it was not.

Furthermore, the Taliban knew that the administration had aided and abetted the enemy WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission, so they began pressuring (blackmailing) the Obama Administration to release five Taliban generals being held at Guantanamo.

Bowe Bergdahl was just a useful pawn used to cover the release of the Taliban generals. Everyone knew Bergdahl was a traitor but Obama used Bergdahl’s exchange for the five Taliban generals to cover that Obama was being coerced by the Taliban about the unauthorized Stinger Missile deal.

So we have a traitor as POTUS that is not only corrupt, but compromised, as well and a Sec of State that is a serial liar, who perjured herself multiple times at the Congressional Hearings on Benghazi. Perhaps this is why no military aircraft were called upon for help in Benghazi: because the administration knew that our enemies had Stinger Missiles that, if used to down those planes, would likely be traced back to the CIA cache in Qatar and then to the State Dept’s illegitimate arms deal in Libya.

The above dialog certainty explains, in a cohesive manner,  what might have really happened at Benghazi and explains a lot of related treasonous and criminal activities within the highest reaches of the Obama administration: 

• Selling dangerous weapons without Congressional approval in a dangerous part of the world.

• Trading one renegade U.S. Army deserter for five high value and high ranking Islamic terrorists, worst trade deal EVER.

• U.S. weapons being used to attack U.S. military forces in Afghanistan.

• A Secretary Of State destroying government records and subjecting those records to foreign government computer hacks by having an unsecured computer in her home.

• Lying about the true cause of the attack in Benghazi, the infamous YouTube video.

I do not know if the above account of the disaster is true. But after living through the false reporting of other so-called conspiracy theories, fully aware that just about any politician will lie at the drop of a hat (or to protect themselves), and seeing how the above account ties together every aspect in a very tight and logical manner, I conclude that four brave Americans unnecessarily died and their memory was tainted by cheap political types trying to hide their failures and conniving egos.

December, 2012 Political Class Insanity, Part 2: Revolving Doors For Illegal Alien Criminals, Goldman/Federal Incest, and More

Yesterday was the first of multiple posts in this blog that will cover the current month’s political class insanity. Unfortunately, as we have gone through time, the need to more than one post a month on the idiocy, insanity, and general uselessness of our politicians has grown worse and worse. This has resulted in ever growing government debt, higher taxes, wasteful spending, and the no resolution of any major issue facing America.

So, let’s continue plodding through the latest antics from America’s under performing but overpaid politicians:

1) According to a November 20, 20912 Associated Press report, there have been five different generals in charge of executing our war effort in Afghanistan in just the past five years. Given the complexity of executing a war across a wide geographic area with no front lines and that the leader in that execution changes once a year on average, is it any wonder that our military situation in Afghanistan is such a mess and waste of blood and wealth?

The article quotes a number of experts who seem to agree that this quick turnover of high ranking leadership is crazy and stupid:

• Thomas E. Ricks, senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security: "Rotating top commanders on an annual basis makes no management sense. Imagine trying to run a corporation by swapping the senior executives every year. Or imagine if, at the beginning of 1944, six months before D-Day, Gen. George C. Marshall, the Army chief of staff, told Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, the supreme allied commander, that it was time to give someone else a chance to lead."
• Jawed Kohistani, military analyst in Kabul: "It gives an opportunity for the enemy to use this gap — the time between the leaving of one commander and the arrival of another — to their advantage. There should be enough time for a NATO commander to get to know the Afghan president, vice presidents, security ministers and assess the situation. If he doesn't have enough time to do all these things, it has a negative effect on the security situation."
• Anthony Cordesman, a national security expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies: "What the Afghans see is constant change at every level. They constantly see people come and go. They have no reason to establish lasting relationships. People leave at the point where they're becoming most effective. This constant rotation is a problem everybody recognizes, but no one has really been willing to address."

So experts agree that this is not the right way to run a war effort. And now the sixth general in five years is needed to take over this critical military post. Obviously, none these experts are politicians, whose lack of expertise and commons sense is wasting American lives and wealth in a fruitless, directionless war effort.

2) Another potential reason for the mess in Afghanistan, besides this annual turnover of military leadership in Afghanistan, was uncovered in a November 10, 2012 Associated Press article. As a tangent to the former CIA David Patraeus sex scandal, it has come to light that the most recent top military man in Afghanistan, General John Allen, is under investigation for possible “inappropriate communications” with a woman who is said to have received threatening emails from Paula Broadwell, the woman with whom Petraeus had an extramarital affair.

The investigation has so far identified somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 direct electronic communications between General Allen and this civilian connection. It is unknown what was in those communications and whether the communications were of a sexual nature or if military and national security could have been endangered by the communications.

But put that all aside for the time being and do some simple math. Let’s take the average between 20,000 and 30,000, 25,000 communications, which occurred over a two year period. On average, this comes out an astounding 34 communications a day for two years. Seems like the General was busier typing out emails than worrying where the Taliban might be lurking in the Afghanistan countryside.

We spend almost $700 billion a year for national defense and…we have 25,000 emails to show for it.

3) In a November 25, 2012 article in the Washington Times, an investigation by the Times and Northwestern University’s Medill News Service found still more disturbing wasteful spending by the Federal government, unnecessary spending in the times during record setting annual budget deficits and skyrocketing national debt:

• The government has spent more than $16 billion over the past decade on outside advertising, marketing and public relations contractors.
• Many of the contracts are awarded without open bidding and full competition, possibly leading to overpayment and abuse of taxpayer wealth.
• To add insult to injury, some of the spending and funding was awarded to foreign advertising and media experts, not even American owned and operated firms.
• To add further insult to injury, the Federal government refuses to disclose the names of those foreign companies who received media work and funding.
• These expenditures are above and beyond the millions of dollars a year that agencies already spend in their annual budgets on their regular press, communications and media operations, and it has gone to pay for projects as varied as NASCAR and sports sponsorships, recruitment efforts for the military services, veterans benefits, welfare aid, and programs that help multibillion-dollar multinational corporations pitch their products to overseas customers, the records show.
• The Veterans Affairs Department has spent $25 million on advertising since 2011 to encourage more retired troops to take advantage of its mental health services, enticing new customers into a system that is suffering historic backlogs and cannot properly serve the veterans it already tries to serve.
• The Labor Department spent a half-million dollars on a public relations firm to advertise the benefits of a clean-energy jobs retraining program, a program which the Washington Guardian reported in September significantly missed its goals and was deemed an overall failure.

Wasted money on wasted programs, much of which never was properly allocated and bid on to begin with. Sounds pretty typical of the Federal government.

4) During his recent visit to the Far East, President Obama announced that the Federal government will spend $6 billion over four years for a “sustainable energy future” plan with Asian countries. This plan involves loaning tax dollars to other countries to increase their purchasing power for U.S. technology, services and equipment. Haven’t we already lived through this financial nightmare before within our own borders, a nightmare that involved the Obama administration loaning out money or guaranteeing loans to domestic companies in the alternative energy/sustainable energy fields?

Didn’t the taxpayer lose out in this area when domestic companies such as Solyandra, Ener1, Abound Solar, and three or four other dozen companies got the same Obama administration generosity and promptly went bankrupt, taking American taxpayer wealth with them down the fiscal drain? Did we not learn anything from these fiascos and now we are giving similar loans and loan guarantees to foreign entities?

Einstein nailed it when he famously quoted: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Almost seems like Einstein had Obama’s funding of alternative energy efforts in mind, initially domestic and now foreign in mind.

5) I came across the following interesting graphic from the Against Cronyism Capitalism website (you can double click on the graphic to get a larger view):

 






I always thought it was insanity that no one in the banking industry ever went to trial or jail for the banking shenanigans that went on prior to the housing collapse and the subsequent Great Recession. This was particularly true of Goldman Sachs personnel, a company that a Senate investigation found was at the heart of some of the shady dealings in the run up to the recession.

But maybe it is not insanity, given this graphic. Seems like there is a very gray area that divides the boundaries between Goldman Sachs and high ranking Federal government positions. In other words, given how many former or current Goldman employees served in the Federal government, especially the Obama administration, it should not be a surprise that none of them went to jail for banking irregularities. Who would ever want to put themselves or their banking cronies in jail? Not insanity, just cronyism to the detriment of the American taxpayer.

5) According to the Office of Immigration Statistics, 188,380 criminal illegal immigrants were deported in fiscal 2011. Sounds like good news about our leaky southern borders, over 188,000 criminals found and deported. Good work.

Well, maybe not so good work. Our border security is so bad that the Office found that 86,699 of the deported criminals, or 46 percent, had illegally returned to the United States at a later date. Twenty three percent of the illegal alien criminals deported in 2011 had committed drug-related offenses, 20% had committed criminal traffic offenses, 12% had committed a violent crime, and another 7% committed larceny, fraud, or burglary.

The Center for Immigration Studies issued a report and analysis based on these statistics: The CIS also noted that once a deportee re-enters the country illegally: “In nearly all cases the (criminal) deportee will go undetected unless charged with another crime or if the deportee returns to his old neighborhood and is recognized by local law enforcement officials. Thus, the number of deportees who make an illegal re-entry is possibly much higher than indicated.

“The extent of our revolving door for deported criminal illegal immigrants points to failures in securing our nation’s borders. These failures do not bode well for our future ability to intercept known and unknown terrorists who try to gain access to our country.”

Thus, even when the Federal government does one part of its job well, rounding up and deporting alien criminals, almost half of them still return to torment American citizens in a variety of criminal ways, proving the point we have made many times in past posts, the notion of border security is a fantasy.

6) And a little Christmas holiday insanity to close out today's review. According to an article in the December 2, 2012 Investor Business Daily, the White House, i.e. Michelle Obama, is very excited that the White House will have 54 Christmas trees displayed within the building this year, 50% more than it had last year.

A couple of problems here:

1. Does the First Family really need to have 54 trees to look at? Wouldn't the expense of purchasing, transporting, and decorating 54 trees have been better spent supporting a local food bank or homeless shelter during the holidays? With 23 million Americans unemployed or underemployed, a much better  option for that taxpayer money would have been to use it to support America's needy this holiday season.
2. I guess global warming isn't such a big deal after all if the First Family can unnecessarily cut down 54 live trees, taking them out of the business of reducing our carbon footprint.

Talk about being out of touch with the reality of America, worrying only about their own selfish interests.

And, unfortunately, we are still not done with chronicling the latest insanity from the political class. More tomorrow since the fountain of insanity seems to be overflowing.

The Latest Inductees Into The Political Class Hall Of Shame - A Congressman, A Senator, A General

As we get towards the end of the year I thought it the right time, especially given the latest flurry of political people acting badly, to run our first annual induction ceremony of new folks into the “Political Class Hall of Shame.” This Hall Of Shame is already chock full of politicians and other “public servants” acting badly, shamefully, and in many cases, criminally. These so-called “leaders” of our nation certainly do know how to shame themselves, their families, and their constituents.

Now, I am not one to pass moral judgment on many of these people. Not my right, not my responsibility. However, many of them acted in such a way that it resulted in wasted taxpayer wealth, endangered the lives of American citizens, called into question the integrity of our national institutions such as Congress, and in many cases, had the potential to endanger our national security by opening themselves up to potential blackmail efforts. In these cases of waste and endangerment, it is my right and the right of every American to call them out.

Before we get to this year’s new inductees, let’s take a trip down memory lane and review who is already in the Hall and what their accomplishments were that got them inducted:

• President Bill Clinton - serial adulterer and liar with a special citation for having adulteress sex right in the Oval Office.
• Senator John Edwards - serial liar and adulterer and liar with a special citation for committing adultery while his wife was fighting a fruitless battle for her life against cancer.
• New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey - adulterer and liar, with a special citation for putting his non-American citizen lover in charge of New Jersey’ homeland security government organization. This situation denied his lover and his organization access to sensitive Federal homeland security intelligence data since he was a non-citizen. This obviously put New Jersey residents more in harm’s way than other states’ citizens.
• New York Governor Eliot Spitzer - adulterer and liar, with a special citation for criminally violating the Mann Act which makes the interstate soliciting and transporting of prostitutes illegal.
• New York Congressman Anthony Weiner - adulterer and liar, with a special citation for using the latest technology (Twitter) to display body parts as part of his adultery activities.
• Nevada John Ensign - adulterer and liar with a special citation of chutzpah, actually committing adultery with his good friend’s wife who was also one of his staff’s chief advisers.
• South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford - adulterer and liar, with a special citation for originality, claiming he was out camping alone somewhere in the woods in the U.S. while he was actually down in South America with his lover.
• New York Congressman Charles Rangel whose many ethics and alleged criminal acts are too long to list here.
• Just about any former Illinois governor, many of which have spent time in prison illegal activities of on sort or another.
• In 1994, Illinois Congressman Mel Reynolds supposedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a 16 year-old. He claimed that charges were racially motivated and won the seat in re-election. The following year Reynolds resigned after being convicted of criminal sexual abuse, child pornography, and other charges.
• Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Vallaraigosa was widely seen as a “family man” until he separated from his wife due to an affair with Telemundo anchor Mirthala Salinas. The tryst terminated both careers, and their romance didn’t even last.
• At the start of his second presidential campaign, former U.S. Senator Gary Hart was rumored to be out womanizing and engaging in extramarital affairs. Hart dared the press to prove the rumors: “Follow me around. I don’t care. I’m serious. If anybody wants to put a tail on me, go ahead. They’ll be very bored.” A few weeks later, the Miami Herald caught a young woman leaving Hart’s apartment. Hart still pleaded innocent until a photo surfaced – one in which a 29 year-old model sat on Hart’s lap aboard a yacht adequately named “Monkey Business.” Two reasons for this Senator to get into the stupidity wing of the Hall: daring the press to follow him and thinking he actually could avoid them finding out about his adultery and getting caught on a boat called “monkey Business.”
• Nevada governor Jim Gibbons filed for divorce from his wife during his first term in office. She alleged in the divorce proceedings that he was infatuated with one Reno woman and also had an affair with Playboy model Leslie Durant, who he was seen with at the Reno Rodeo. Gibbons later deposed that he hadn’t had sex in 15 years, let alone with a playmate, although he was caught sending over 800 text messages in just one month to the other Reno woman, all on a state-issued phone, getting him into the stupid wing.
• Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson - was sentenced to thirteen years in jail for accepting bribes, the longest term ever imposed on a Congressman on bribery and racketeering charges, with a special citation for hiding his bribery rewards in his freezer, lending credibility to the old saying, "cold cash." The FBI found the frozen money when they raided his home after a businesswoman felt she had been cheated by Jefferson in a business deal and turned to the FBI.
• Congressman Randy Cunningham of California received a sentence of eight years for taking $2.4 million in bribes from defense contractors.
• Ohio Congressman Bob Ney received two and a half years in jail for taking bribes from a lobbyist.
• Congressman James Traficant of Ohio received a seven year sentence for bribery and racketeering. Mr. Traficant gets a special citation for humor. When he reputedly likened to Washinngton politicians to prostitutes, the same politicians were outraged and demanded an apology. He did apology...to all prostitutes for the comparison.
• Back in 2008, many of President Obama's nominees for high level government positions were found to have not paid their fair share of taxes including Tom Daschle, ex-long time Senator, and Tim Geithner, currently the Secretary of the Treasury. For most Americans, this type of tax evasion is at least a misdemeanor. For the political class, it sometimes feels like it is a way of life that has merited them a small place in the Hall of Shame.
• Kennedy family - definitely not enough time to explore this major wing of the Hall.

That’s just a highlight of what is in the Hall Of Shame. It does not include many other smaller acts of shame, how Congressional members use their insider information to trade stocks to their own personal financial advantage, how Congressional members postpone or terminate legislation that would be detrimental to companies’ IPOs, including Nancy Pelosi who has participated in ten or so IPOs in the past few years, reaping much financial reward in the process, how Congressional members use taxpayer money, via earmarks, to fortify their reelection campaign funds, etc.

But let’s talk about the latest entrants to the Political Class Hall Of Shame:

1) According to a recent CBS Chicago report, Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., who is currently being treated for bipolar and other health issues, is working on a criminal plea deal on charges he misused campaign funds. Such a plea deal for misuse of campaign funds would include resigning his seat in Congress, pleading guilty to the misuse of campaign funds, repaying the money that he allegedly used for personal items, and spending time in jail. Based on similar cases in the past, he likely will serve some jail time, according to the CBS report.

While I feel sorry for the Congressman’s physical and health issues, they are not excuses for breaking the law. But given his Illinois background, really no surprise here. I will likely go into the Hall wing that already houses the criminal escapades of former Congressional members Ney, Cunningham, Traficant and Jefferson.

2) Two women from the Dominican Republic have publicly accused New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez of having paid them for sex earlier this year. Two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000-acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.

It appears, based on numerous news reports, that Menendez has been to the Dominican Republic a number of times over the years, often using the home and plane of campaign donor Salomon Melgen. Melgen is an ophthalmologist and owner of an eye clinic in Florida who has donated $14,700 to Menendez’s campaigns since 1993, with the bulk of it coming since he became a U.S. Senator, according to Federal Election Commission.

Three problems here, two of which include the integrity and potential risk of blackmail. Who is to say these prostitutes could have been working with non-friendly parties who could have used the trysts as blackmail material against the Senator. Who is to say that Melgen could not have used the prostitute instances of leverage for his own personal gain or the gain of people he was in partnership with? Blackmail is not a pretty affair and this U.S. Senator left him and the country open to the financial, integrity, and security components of potential blackmail.

The third problem gets the Senator into the stupid wing of the Hall Of Shame. If he had just paid the prostitutes the fees that he had agreed to, this story is likely to have not come to the forefront. Unfortunately, this wing is very crowded with past acts of stupidity of many, many other politicians.

3) The final entrant into the Hall Of Shame this year is a whopper. The Director of the CIA, the head of our nation’s largest spy organizations, David Patreaus, was forced to resign this week after a months long investigation by the FBI proved that he had been having a long term adulterous love affair with a woman who helped write his autobiography.

Two problems here, one very obvious. As Director of The CIA, Patreaus probably had access and in-depth knowledge of most, if not all, major CIA activities around the world. The potential for national security blackmail is off the charts. The Director has been married for 38 years, he had a long distinguished military career, and had a most critical job, who knows what he would have divulged under a blackmail situation. He had a lot to lose but still allowed the affair to go on for a long time, making him very susceptible to pressures and blackmail opportunities to protect all he stood for.

The second problem is that as the top spy in the country, leaving an electronic paper trail of provocative emails that detailed out the entire adultery escapade. How stupid, I would hope that we would have placed a smarter person as head of our top spy agency.

This is not the end of our discussion about the Director’s love affair. Congressional hearings about the affair and the Benghazi terrorist incident, of which the Director must have had an inmate awareness of the details, will be held this week. The potential for scandal, deceit, and cover ups is high. But today, we will settle for inducting the Director into the Hall Of Shame and putting him next to Menendez in the stupid wing for his use of emails to chat with his adultery partner.

Pretty disgraceful place this Hall Of Shame, for both the latest inductees and the current members. We will discuss the need to clean up our political processes in the next week or so in an effort to ensure the Hall Of Shame never gets any larger.

Our taxpayer wealth, Congressional integrity, and national security depend on us eventually shutting down this Hall so that adulterers, prostitutes, and Congressional criminals become a relic of our past, replaced with new politicians that actually care about America more than their financial and bodily needs.
