February, 2016, Part 6, Political Class Insanity: Hillary Lies, Economic Freedom Tanks, Protect Yourself, and More

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

So let’s get started with the latest insanity:

1) Our history, our people, our Constitution, and our freedoms allowed the United States to build the most powerful and largest economy in the history of the world. It created living standards for its citizens that have never come close to being matched. But the ineptness of America’s political class is threatening to destroy that capability that for so long left every American generation in better financial shape than its previous ones.

One measure of how well the country is doing economically is an index created annually by the Heritage Foundation, its 2016 Index Of Economic Freedom. This measure rank orders how free each country’s economic structure is with the assumption being that the freer an economic structure is the better it is at creating economic benefits.

According to their 2016 analysis, America’s economic freedom continues to drop like a rock. It has dropped in eight of the past nine years and is now tied with its worst score ever. Details of this fall include:

- The U.S. has fallen from the sixth freest economy in the world when Obama took office to 11th place in 2016.

- Possible reasons for this fall could be any of the following American political class actions:

  • Government spending has exploded, amounting to $29,867 per household in 2015.
  • The national debt has risen to $125,000 for every tax-filing household in America, total over $19 trillion.
  • Obama Care is raising prices, disrupting markets, over regulating a major industry in this country and adding massive amounts of debt to the national debt.
  • Bailouts and a massive number of new government regulations have increased uncertainty, stifling investment, and job creation.
  • The U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world which drives any investment to other countries where jobs are created there and not domestically.
  • The annual cost of meeting governments’ regulatory requirements has increased by over $80 billion a year, meaning there is less wealth to pay workers and invest in new or expanding businesses.
  • The World Bank ranks the U.S. as 49th relative to the ease of starting a new business, trailing such lesser economies as Lithuania, Malaysia, and Georgia in this area.

As a result of this lessening economic freedom and growing intervention of the government and political class into our lives and our businesses, we currently:

  • Have 45 million people receiving Federal food assistance every month.
  • Have over 14 million people who are either unemployed or underemployed because they cannot find a full time job.
  • Have household wages and earnings that have stagnated since Obama took office.
  • Have a labor participation rate that borders on the all time low, comparable to the stagflation years of the Carter administration.
  • The Wall Street Journal recently correctly observed that Obama is “a champion when it comes to limiting economic freedom, and American workers have the slow growth in jobs and wages to prove it.”
As government has become more and more, our freedom and economic opportunities have become less and less, the numbers do not lie.
]
2) One way to get government and our politicians out of our lives would be to reduce the size of government. As more and more people go to work for government, more and more realize that there is not enough work to go around for all of them so they start creating work to justify their existence. They create more regulations, more laws, and more taxes and fees that reduce our political, personal choice, and economic freedom.

An insane way to reduce the size of government was recently discussed in an article on the Federalist Papers website, an article that was written by Robert Gehl. A recent survey of Federal employees by GovExec.com found that 25% of Federal employees said that they would consider leaving their government jobs if Donald Trump was elected President. 14% of those surveyed said they would definitely leave their jobs and 11% said they would consider leaving their Federal jobs.

According to Mr. Gehl’s article, this would wipe out about 700,000 Federal employees and save the American taxpayer $65 billion every year. In theory, this would put over $600 into every household budget across the country, certainly a better use of the money than leaving it with the Federal bureaucracy. And I would bet that the average American would not be adversely affected if those 700,000 Federal employees simply vanished.

This alone might be a reason to vote for Trump, it would do more to reduce the size of government and the runaway growth of the national debt than anything else any previous, current or future elected official would do. I think that this survey shows that even current Federal employees know that many of their jobs are worth nothing when it comes to advancing the the welfare of Americans and would get out be of their government jobs before Trump would fire them.

3) We have always maintained that in a free country the role of government in citizens’ lives should be very limited in order to maximize individual liberty. But one of the few valid functions of even a limited government is to provide for the unbiased safety and protection of citizens. Since we pay such a heavy load of our earnings and wealth for this protection, with the annual Tax Freedom Day usually more than three months into the year, one would hope that the protection we pay to the political class would be impeccable.

And as with most hope when it comes to the political class, that hope would be wrong, at least in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Protective League, the labor union of the LA police department (LAPD) recently warned LA citizens that had better “be able to protect themselves” since long police response times might noit be quick enough to protect their lives and property. They blamed the long response times because they believe the LAPD is understaffed.

As an example, the League cited the West LA area where it claims there are only three police cars assigned to cover the 65 square miles of the area which contains 200,000 citizens. The League contends there should be seven cars on duty for West LA. League President Jamie McBride recently told the local LA CBS TV station that: “The citizens need to know they need to be able to protect themselves because if they call 911, we can’t guarantee we’re going to get there in time to help you…West Los Angeles, at the minimum, should have seven patrol units, two-man units working.”

But this is not the first California city to tell their residents in one form or another to find ways to protect themselves since the local government could no longer fulfill that minimal but essential function of government. Several years ago in San Bernardino, city attorney Jim Penman publicly stated in a city council meeting that residents will need to “lock their doors and load their guns” since city government budget cuts would reduce police protection. He also told the Los Angeles CBS TV station: “Let’s be honest, we don’t have enough police officers. We have too many criminals living in this city. We have had 45 murders this year…that’s far too high for a city of this size.”

Unfortunately, the recent terrors attack in San Bernardino showed how correct Mr. Penman’s advice was.

So here is where we are today, at least in two major California cities. A legitimate function of government and the politicians that operate it is protect the physical well being of its citizens. For that protection, we pay high and onerous taxes. And now it appears that even that minimal government function cannot be fulfilled, i.e. protecting the lives and property of citizens. Insane.

4) Let’s finish up today’s insanity with a short video from the website,

www.ihavethetruth.com

We have often pointed out the many lies of Barack Obama, a few of the bigger whopper including:

  • If you like your current doctor/hospital/insurance policy you can keep them under Obama Care’s regulations.
  • Obama Care will reduce every American family’s annual health insurance cost by up to $2,500 a year.
  • The Benghazi incident was caused by a video.
  • He would go through the Federal budget line by line to reduce unnecessary government spending.
  • He would devote every waking moment of his life to serving the country as President, foregoing vacations and family time to do so.
  • He could reduce the annual government spending deficit by half by the end of his first term.
  • He would have our military out of Afghanistan by 2014.
These are just a sample of his lies, deceptions, and failures.

But it appears that we may be in store for more of the same of Hillary Clinton replaces him in the White House. The link below contains just a short compilation of some of HER lies that have been videotaped over the years. The video touches on such topics as:

  • In a trip to Bosnia, her party came under sniper fire. It did not.
  • She was against gay marriage. Now she supports gay marriage.
  • Her grandparents were immigrants to this country. Only one of them were immigrants.
  • She only used her private email server in her house for private emails such as sending emails to her husband. Bill Clinton claimed that he has used email only two times in his entire life.
  • She was against the passage of the NAFTA free trade treaty. Back when the treaty was passed, she supported NAFTA.
Thus, go to the following link to see Hillary lie in her own words:

http://ihavethetruth.com/2015/12/19/this-video-of-hillary-is-going-viral-when-you-see-it-youll-know-why/

Okay, what insanity did we learn today:

  1. Hillary lies.
  2. Despite high taxes, government and the politicians that operate it cannot protect our families, and our property.
  3. The election of Donald Trump might be the quickest way to get rid of excess Federal government employees and the related expenses.
  4. Our economic freedom is in a tailspin and as a result, our economic well being and economic opportunities might be sinking with it.
More insanity tomorrow, if you dare.

December, 2015, Part 3, By The Numbers

This is the first post this month as we continue our periodic discussion of “by the numbers.” We do this theme occasionally where we look at the reality of the numbers in the world and not the lies, deceptions, and spin of the American political class. I used to work for a boss whose favorite quote was: “There is nothing more devastating to an opinion than the correct number.” By looking at the statistics, trends, and numbers in our world we can cut through the politicians’ smoke screen to truly understand what is going on and hopefully, remedy the issues of the day.

And there will be a lot of smoke to cut through in the next few posts. Much of what we will touch on has to do with many of the current lies, deceptions, and ignorance many politicians, including this President, have been spewing regarding gun control and terrorism, two topics that this President seem to want to link together to his political gain.

If you have an inability to believe that guns are anything but evil or that this President always stays in integrity, than do not waste your time reading any further. The numbers we will be reviewing come from reputable sources, often from the Obama administration itself, and these numbers will prove that the American political class only use facts when they fit their political aims and schemes.

1) Mother Jones never be mistaken for a conservative, Republican, or right wing entity. Thus, whenever it does not come down on the side of Obama, liberals, or Democrats you really have to sit up and take notice. It did just that recently when it put forth a cogent argument that there have NOT been 355 mass shootings in this country in 2015, as claimed by many on the left side of the political spectrum. In fact, according to Mother Jones calculations, that number is off by a whopping 351, that only 4 mass shootings have occurred in 2015.

In a recent New York Times article, Mother Jones editor Mark Follman explained why the 355 number is so bogus: “At Mother Jones, where I work as an editor, we have compiled an in-depth open-source database covering more than three decades of public mass shootings. By our measure, there have been four “mass shootings” this year, including the one in San Bernardino, and at least 73 such attacks since 1982.”

The four attacks that Mr. Follman identifies as reaching the threshold for a mass shooting in 2015 are Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church (9 killed), the military offices in Chattanooga (5 killed). Umpqua Community College (9 killed), and San Bernardino (14 killed). If you believe their analysis, then since 1982 there have been on average about 2.4 mass shootings a year in this country. While having four this year is 66% higher than the long term average,we are still talking only 4 in total.

As we said yesterday, no one should die in a mass shooting attack in this country. But the numbers are so small that it in no way justifies shredding the Second Amendment.

2) Researchers at George Washington University recently published a study that quantified arrests of ISIS sympathizers within the United States since March, 2014. The numbers are a little frightening:
  • 56 people have already been arrested this year for helping to support or plot with ISIS.
  • This is the largest single year total arrests for terrorism in the country since 2001.
  • The current set of those arrested for terrorism are younger and more likely to include women than the historic mix has been.
  • Since March, 2014, 71 people have been arrested with 56 of those arrests coming this year, indicating a potential upward trend in terrorism arrests.
  • “The individuals range from hardened militants to teenage girls, petty criminals and college students,” said Lorenzo Vidino, the director of the university’s program on extremism, which conducted the study. “The diversity is staggering.”
  • The study, titled “ISIS in America: From Retweets to Raqqa.”
  • John Carlin, assistant attorney general for national security, has asserted that of the terrorism-related arrests in the past 18 months, mostly related to the Islamic State, 80% of those arrested were younger than 30, and 40% were under 21 while 14% were women.
  • More than 50% of those arrested had tried to travel abroad, usually to Iraq or Syria.
So more Americans are being arrested for terrorism, ISIS is winning the battle of the minds via social and online media in converting people to radical Islam, and this President wants to disarm Americans for no quantifiable reason at all. Pure insanity in light of the numbers and the threat they pose.

3) A recent study by Pew researchers found that Americans trust neither the national news media to be a positive for the country and they certainly do not trust Washington or the politicians that serve there:
  • 65% of those polled say the national news media negatively impacts the country.
  • 82% of Republicans say the national news media has a negative impact.
  • Only 19% of those polled believe they can trust the government and politicians in Washington with only 3% saying they can trust Washington “just about always” and only 16% saying they trust Washington “most of the time.”
  • In 1997, 37% of Americans said that the government needed “very major reform” while in 2015 that number has jumped to 59% saying that government needed major reform.
  • 53% of those polled wanted a smaller Federal government with fewer services while 38% want a bigger government with more services.
  • 89% of Republicans distrust government and 72% of Democrats distrust government.
Not a very pretty picture of trust and integrity by the numbers in the country right now. None of us trust the media to be a positive impact, a view with far reaching implications for freedom and liberty since historically a free, independent, and trusted press has helped keep government and politicians in check. A majority of us want less government and politicians in our lives and a vast majority of us do not trust government or the politicians who operate it. Very sad state of affairs.

4) A recent article on the CNS News website by Mark Perry followed up on the CDC study we discussed yesterday, how the growth in gun sales and gun ownership occurred as the violent crime rate was plummeting. The article pointed out that in 1993, there were 7 firearm related homicides for every 100,000 Americans. By 2013, that rate had dropped by almost half to 3.6 homicides per 100,000 population (Clikc on the graph for a larger view):

From 1993 until 2013, the number of privately owned guns grew from about 185 million to 357 million in 2013. Looking at the population change, the number of guns went from .93 per person in 1993 to 1.45 in 2013 and still the homicide rate dropped.
Now correlation does not necessarily mean causality. But given that there are daily reports of citizens using their legally obtained and used guns to protect lives and property, it is not a stretch to assume that properly armed and trained citizens reduce crime because criminals, usually just adult bullies, are also afraid of dying.Another view of the same data shows that the number of weapons owned is up 56% since 1993 while the homicide rate from guns is down 46% since then. As always, the numbers do not lie as they are the only source of reality, not politicians rantings and lying.

More numbers tomorrow.

Retro Post: How About More Hate Control Before More Gun Control: In Light Of The San Bernardino Shootings

The post listed below was originally posted back in January, 2013 in response to the school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. I reprint it here today two days after the mass shootings in San Bernardino, California because the message back in 2013 is just as relevant today.

Yes, guns were used to kill a lot of Innocent people. Both cases were terrible incidents of violent human behavior that should not happen in a civilized society.

But going off hysterically about the need for undefined, nebulous, and likely ineffective gun control measures, like many Democrats and liberals did before the body count was even finalized in both situations, does nothing to address the underlying root causes of this violence.

What those root causes are needs to be investigated and addressed in a logical, rational, and effective means. Going off half cocked without knowing those root causes and just shrieking "gun control" is nonsense. The San Bernardino shooters would not have obeyed any new gun laws. The Sandy Hook shooter would not have obeyed any new gun laws. They had other motives driving their insane behavior and following the law was not likely a big motivator for them.

IF the San Bernardino shootings were terrorist driven, then no new gun law is going to stop those kinds of attacks. The two shooters, husband and wife, from two days ago had body armor on, assault rifles, pipe bombs, were Muslim and at least the husband had recently visited Saudi Arabia, a hot bed of Sunni terrorism.

If Hillary Clinton and Bernie and Sanders and others think that passing a new gun control law or two is going to stop people like this, they certainly should not be elected President. All their actions will do is further disarm law abiding American citizens and deny them the right  to defend themselves. Keep in mind that California has some of the toughest gun laws in the country and those laws did nothing to prevent the latest mass shootings.

But the post below does not touch on terrorism. It hypothesizes that maybe hate, as it emanates from the American political class, is a root cause of the mass shootings in this country. When politicians call their political opponents Neanderthals, racists, ass-holes, and say many of them deserve to die and go to hell, well, that degradation of human life, even though they are just political opponents, could be interpreted as a wink and nod to the less stable in this country to do the acts of violence that are incited by politicians' words and slander.

Something to think about, maybe we need more hate control vs. more gun control in this country.

How About More Hate Control Before More Gun Control, Part 1 - Maybe Hatred Is The Real Root Cause Of Mass Shootings

Be forewarned: there is some bad language and implied bad language in the following so please pass if this might offend you. These are not my words but actually the words of our politiciains and their supporters.

Today is the first of a four part series regarding the Newtown, Connecticut shooting where innocent kids and teachers were needlessly slaughtered be a deranged young man. Let me state a few facts up front:

  • I was tremendously saddened by this senseless act of violence.
  • I do not know how a young man can become so separated from compassion and reality and have so little respect for life that he would kill innocent children and teachers.
  • I am not a psychologist and have no understanding from a psychology/scientific perspective of the root causes which trigger a young man to execute this type of terror, and neither do 99.9% of the people with an opinion on this matter and 100% of those in the Washington political class.
  • I am not a member of the NRA and have never fired a gun, never mind owning one.
  • I am a fervent defender of the U.S. Constitution including the Second Amendment.
Today I want to consider a concept that I have not seen discussed in the media and certainly not by those in politics that want to strip law abiding, common sense citizens of their right to bear arms. The concept involves the idea that maybe we should do a little hate control BEFORE we recklessly and senselessly go off on a gun control tangent, a tangent that will likely increase crime and gun play, not reduce it (more on this latter concept tomorrow).

Let’s be honest, there is a lot of hate and venom circulating in the country today. Much of it is fomented by the political class as they foolishly try to incite their supporters and degrade their opponents in the most dehumanizing and disrespective ways possible.

The more you dehumanize others, the easier it is to see them as less worthy of their opinion and their life. Maybe if we started respecting each other a little more, taking some of the hate and venom out of our politics, thought processes, and speech, incidents like the shootings in Newtown, in south Chicago, in the ghettos of Detroit, etc. might be become a little less frequent if we respected each other a little more.

This increase in respect and humanizing of other human beings should start with our so-called leaders, However, as we have pointed out many times in this blog, these so-called leaders are a big cause of the problem, not the solution. They have had a busy, and disgraceful past couple of years degrading and abusing the opinions, lives, rights, and very existence of the citizens they are supposed to be serving:

  • Democrat Speaker Of The House Nancy Pelosi called citizen opponents to Obama Care unpatriotic for simply having a difference of opinion with many politicians in Washington.
  • Democrat Charles Rangel slandered millions of Americans who opposed Obama Care by calling them racists for simply having an honest difference of opinion with many politicians in Washington.
  • Democrat Shelia Jordan Lee slandered millions of Americans who opposed Obama Care by associating them with the Ku Klux Klan.
  • Union boss and Democratic supporter Jimmy Hoffa, Jr. stated that his union was at war with the Republicans and Tea Party citizens and that these people "need to be taken out."
  • Democratic Congressmen Mike Doyle and Henry Waxman and Vice President Joe Biden slandered American citizens opposed to unfettered and destructive government spending and debt by calling them terrorists (those people that bomb and kill innocent civilians).
  • When ordinary Americans objected to the building of a Islamic mosque near the World Trade Center property because of the sad memories of 9-11, Democrat Nancy Pelosi said THEY should be investigated for simply having a passionate opinion on the mosque.
  • Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Walters said all Tea Party American citizens can go to hell simply for having a difference of opinion with her.
When you viciously and unfoundedly associate ordinary citizens with racism, call them terrorists, question their patriotism, when you wish they would go to hell, and then threaten to take them out/exterminate them, you have dehumanized them in the eyes of your political supporters, making it easy to imagine them actually going away permanently.

Maybe, this type of hate and venom and dehumanizing goes through the head of a young man when he decides to go off and actually follows the advice that those people “need to be taken out.” When your so-called leaders call for this type of behavior and language, it can’t be wrong, can it?

But our political class, and their direct supporters, also direct their hate and venomous words towards other politicians:

  • The campaign manager of Democrat’s Gerry Brown’s gubernatorial campaign called his Republican opponent, Meg Whitman, a whore.
  • White House czar Van Jones publicly called all Republicans a**h****s.
  • Democrat Alan Grayson called all Republicans knuckle dragging Neanderthals.
  • TV host Montel Williams publicly hoped that Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachman would commit suicide by decapitating herself.
  • Ed Schultz, an on air commentator for the Democratic leaning MSNBC news channel, called Laura Ingraham of Fox News a slut.
  • HBO TV host Bill Maher, a major donor to Obama’s 2012 Presidential Super PAC (a $1 million donor), said on air that Republican Sarah Palin “would f*** Rick Perry if he was black.”
  • Bill Maher called Republican Sarah Palin a disgusting and derogatory name that I will not repeat here.
  • Playboy magazine’s online website offered a detailed analysis on why and how each of ten Republican women in politics should be hate raped.
  • Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen likened Republican critics of Obamacare to the Nazis and their propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.
  • A rap artist gave a Minnesota concert that was billed as the “F*** Michelle Bachman” concert (spelling out the entire f-word), a Republican Congresswoman from Minnesota.
  • A Democratic operative insulted Ann Romney, and millions of other American women, by slandering and demeaning her as a stay at home mother.
  • Martin Bashier of MSNBC News showed a video of Mitt Romney’s campaign bus that was interspersed with video clips of buses blowing up in balls of fire, explicitly wishing that the Romney bus also blow up and those inside die a fiery death.
When you label others as sluts and whores and suggest they should be raped or be killed, either by themselves or a fiery bus explosion, you set another stage for dehumanization. If your political opponents are just sluts and whores, no big deal if they go away, right?

I maintain that this type of disgusting, hateful behavior is an influence in our society and not an influence for good. It infects the undertone of how we view others. It reduces the amount of respect we have for others, making it easier to abuse others, possibly violently.

It usually does not cause someone to go off and actually start killing others but it certainly cannot help. It also cuts short the ability to listen to each other and appreciate the diversity of opinion each brings to a potential solution of a problem.

If I have allowed the political class and their ardent supporters to frame you as a racist or a slut or a terrorist, I am unlikely to consider any good you can bring to my life or to a solution of a problem. If I think it is a good thing that you self decapitate or die in a bus explosion, you will probably not get my attention when it comes to working towards a better society.

As a result of this hateful divisiveness the political class has driven into our society, we despise others that have a different opinion from ours. Major issues, such a failing public schools, a lost war on drugs, skyrocketing national debt, high health care costs, illegal immigration, etc., never get resolved. The hate prevents us from listening to each other, from calibrating our view of the world with others’ views of the world.

And possibly in the case of Newtown, we go beyond not listening and we start shooting. Not because guns are legal but because we have allowed the political class to desensitize us to each other as human beings.

But it is not only politicians that spew the hate and venom, hate and venom that others take to heart, hate and venom that their children take and internalize. Consider just some recent examples that have appeared in the news:

- Consider the hateful speech and intentions of Professor Richard Parncutt of the University of Graz regarding other human beings that are global warming deniers, those daring to have a different opinion than his: “In this article I am going to suggest that the death penalty is an appropriate punishment for influential GW [global warming] deniers... They [global warming deniers] are already causing the deaths of hundreds of millions of future people. We could be speaking of billions, but I am making a conservative estimate… With high probability it will cause hundreds of millions of deaths. For this reason I propose that the death penalty is appropriate for influential GW deniers.”

Different opinion, therefore you should die. I wonder what he would do to people like me, given our opinions on global warming; should we die also or just suffer some horrible disease since we are not influential enough:

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2012/11/wishing-al-gore-would-shut-up-why-i-am.html

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2012/11/wishing-al-gore-would-shut-up-why-i-am_10.html

As an aside, in 2009, the CIA opened up a new division, The Center on Climate Change and National Security. The purpose of this group was to examine the impact of global warming from a national security perspective. A few months ago, with little fanfare, they disbanded the organization. Is the CIA also worthy of Professor Parncutt’s death penalty or was it just common sense that this global warming organization was not longer viable or needed?

- Pulitzer nominated newspaper columnist Donald Kaul recently wrote an article for the Des Moines Register where he called for the killing of gun owners and “dragging legislators who disagree with gun control behind pickup trucks until they get the message.” Don’t agree with my opinion? Thus, we should have more killing and more torture for those that dare to have a difference of opinion. How does this stop the cycle of hate that starts with the political class?

- Erik Loomis, PhD, assistant professor of history at the University of Rhode Island decided he needed to get into the hate and venom game also when he recently stated on Twitter that he wanted the death of National Rifle Association (NRA) CEO Wayne LaPierre, branding the gun rights group he heads as a terrorist organization:"[I] want Wayne LaPierre's head on a stick." A little hateful, a little violent?

- Karen Lewis, head of the Chicago Teachers’ Union recently had some violent rhetoric of her own to share: “Do not think for a minute that the wealthy are ever going to allow you to legislate their riches away from them. Please understand that. However, we are in a moment where the wealth disparity in this country is very reminiscent of the robber baron ages. The labor leaders of that time, though, were ready to kill. They were. They were just – off with their heads. They were seriously talking about that.”

And this person is associated with educating young minds and kids. Don’t like someone or are jealous of their wealth, that in all probability was garnered via honest hard work and sweat, than just off with their heads.

I maintain that you cannot have such hate and disrespect and venomous speech floating around and it not have a negative impact on how we treat each other, how it dehumanizes others. I am not saying the Newtown shooting was directly caused because of this poisonous environment but it certainly did not help. Was the shooter seated around his dinner table through the years when slurs and demeaning things were said about others, how others that were different from him were worthy of being “taken out.“

And it certainly does not allow us to sit down and go face-to-face with others to leverage everyone’s knowledge and skills to confront all of our problems from school shootings to high debt, high illiteracy levels, failing public education, a failing health care system etc.

But if we solved all of our problems, on what issues would our politicians run on? And that, my friends, is the root cause of most of our problems, from school shootings to the lack of a national energy problem, our shameless politicians need the hate and venom to frame and finance their continual reelection effort.

So tonight, when you are sitting around the table with your family, how about a little more hate control and a lot more respect for others in front of our kids. Again, it couldn’t hurt.

And tomorrow if you should come across someone who thinks other human beings need to be taken out, killed, dragged behind a truck or hate raped simply for having a difference of opinion, may I suggest you walk away? Engaging in such a discussion with these types of people just spreads and intensifies the hate and gets yourself muddy, as the old saying goes: “Never mud wrestle with a pig because you both get dirty and the pig likes it.”Walk away, stay clean, and let the hate spewer stew in his own mud. Help break the cycle of hate.
