The Death Of Political Civility, Part 1 - Democrats and Liberals Running Amok....Most Hatefully

I doubt many Americans would disagree that political dialog, hatred, and venom is at an all time high in this country. Issues never get discussed anymore, it is all about violent mudslinging and insults, and often physical threats and attacks, of both political opponents and their followers. As a country, civility is now a quaint old fashioned concept.

Although I have never voted for a Republican President in my life, I did not vote for Trump, and I have rarely voted for a Republican for national office in my life, it is my personal opinion that Democrats and liberals are, by far, the most vicious, obnoxious and hateful people in the political arena today. And it is my opinion that this is not a recent event. In a very popular previous post I laid out the eight years of hatred and vicious name calling that leading liberal/Democratic politicians, media people, and celebrities rained down on Republicans and independents:

We actually made the case in that post that it was not Republicans that got Trump elected. Americans got so tired of being verbally abused and threatened by liberals that they reached out to someone who was not part of the abusing political class. Their disgust with liberal abuse and hypocrisy led to the election of Trump. That post can be accessed at:

https://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2016/11/retro-3-obama-presidency-end-of-error.html

Today we want to make the case that liberals and Democrats did not learn from their mistake and their significant role in getting Trump elected. Today we will lay out the poison, hatred and venom that liberals continue to spew. Again, in my opinion, after researching and publishing the link above cataloging the Obama years of abuse and compiling the following hatred from today’s liberals, it is liberals and Democrats who are the most hateful, on average, than non-liberals. After reading the following real cases of liberal hysteria and hate, see if you agree with me or not:

1) Famous show business liberals have been among the most vicious and hateful people over the past few years as Trump made his way to the White House:

  • Kathy Griffin was photographed holding a bloody, graphic model of Trump’s decapitated head.
  • Madonna publicly stated that, “I’ve thought a lot about blowing up the White House,” presumably killing everyone inside.
  • Snoop Dogg “Shoots” Trump in the Head in Music Video
  • Ross Whedon: “I Want a Rhino to F**k Paul Ryan to Death”
  • Shakespeare in the Park Stabs ‘Trump’ to Death in Performance of ‘Julius Caesar’
  • Larry Wilmore Jokes About Suffocating Trump with ‘Pillow They Used to Kill Scalia’
Such lovely, tolerant people. You know that if someone had these same things about Obama, these same celebrities preaching death to Trump would be besides themselves if someone said the same thing about Obama. Their hypocrisy is so huge.

2) But it is not just show business people that are violent and hateful The following link to the Breitbart website lists out hundreds of times when members of the mainstream media were just as ugly, violent, and hateful:

https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2018/07/05/rap-sheet-acts-of-media-approved-violence-and-harassment-against-trump-supporters/

3) Liberal hatred and violent words often spill over into violent acts against non-liberals and non-Democrats. Recently, someone fired four bullets into a Republican party campaign office in Volusia County, Florida. Fortunately, no one got hit by any of the bullets. Apparently, this is a new way for Democrats to debate issues, fire four live rounds into a Republican office.

4) Staying in Florida, a man was arrested for threatening to kill Republican Congressman Carlos Curbello. His vehicle of choice to carry out this death threat was Twitter, indicating that he was probably not the brightest potential political assassin in the world.

5) In Minnesota, a member of that state’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor party recently put a post up on Facebook where he suggested that Republicans be led “to the guillotines” the day after election day.

6) A Republican running for Congress in New Jersey has reported that he has received a letter where the writer threatened the lives of the Republican’s seven children: “What the f— is wrong with you … s—bag? You BETTER hope that you don’t win! Or else. How many kids do you have… 7? Unlucky 7. This is what we think of you. Time to get out of politics.” Nice guy, threatening the lives of children to get his political way.

7) But it is not just random nut cases that threaten Republicans. A sitting member of the U.S. Senate, Democrat Kamala Harris, was recently on the “Ellen Degeneres” show. Ms. Degeneres asked the Senator the following question: “If you had to be stuck in an elevator with either President Trump, Mike Pence, or Jeff Sessions, who would it be?” The Senator replied: “Does one of us have to come out alive?” Yes, suggesting the death of a politician from the opposing party, real class Kamala.

8) But Democrats are not just mean and hateful against Republicans. Consider a past statement by a current candidate for a Congressional seat in Arizona, Krysten Sinema. Apparently Sinema once held the following disgusting view on stay at home moms: “These women who act like staying at home, leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism because they’re choosing to live that life. That’s bullshit. I mean, what the f*** are we really talking about here?” Class act, would you really want such a hateful profane person representing you in Congress?

9) A Minnesota Republican candidate for Congress was physically assaulted while campaigning and as a result of the attack Republican Shane Mekeland ended up with a concussion: “While I had never met my assailant, the words he yelled at me before he attacked lead me to believe his actions were politically motivated. When I chose to run for office, I expected to be politically attacked, but never physically. I weighed whether or not to share this today, but ultimately I think we all need a reminder to be civil to each other regardless of our perspectives.”

10) But Mr. Mekeland is not the only Minnesota Republican to be recently assaulted. Minnesota State Representative Sarah Anderson was physically attacked by a confirmed Democrat.

That is enough hate for one day. We will continue the seemingly unending hatred and attacks of Democrats and liberals on anyone who dares to disagree with their views tomorrow. If you somehow think that the Republicans and conservatives in this country are just as mean, just as violent, and just as hateful, I welcome you to put together a list of their transgressions. We can then compare my list to your list side by side to see who is the most despicable.

The Obama Era, Part 7 - Memories From The Worst Presidency Ever?

Late last year I thought it might be a good time to review everything that I remember about the Obama administration. He has been in office for seven years, seven long years that in my opinion have been horrific in so many ways. This was someone who entered office with approval ratings that were above 70% and who represented the so-called “hope and change” that many Americans were seeking.

This theme unexpectedly took four days to cover, that is how many failures, lies, threats, and narcissism examples we could list out from this President. The first post can be accessed at:

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2015/12/the-obama-era-part-1-memories-from.html

Seven years later, hope has become very scarce and change has almost always been for the worst. Now, before someone says that I am just a sour grapes Republican, conservative, or neo-con, understand that I have never voted for a Republican for President in my life (I started voting in the 1970s). Up until 2010, I had never voted for Republican for national office in my life. I fully support gay rights and respect a woman’s legal right to an abortion. Thus, none of what you are about to read over the next few days comes from a Republican sour grapes perspective.

But unless you have had completely had your head in the sand or elsewhere, this has been the worst Presidency that I have experienced in my lifetime. From horrid legislation (e.g. Obama Care) to a failed foreign policy (e.g. Syria) to daily lawlessness on the part of this administration (e.g. use of unsecured email accounts by high ranking administration members), the ineptness and ineffectiveness of this administration is mind boggling.

Today, we will discuss more things that I remember from this Presidency, including the latest Pew Research results, in addition to the horror stories and disasters we already talked about, starting with the link listed above:

- I will remember that the American public rate “gun policy” and “climate change” as the 16th and 17th (out of 18 issues) most important issues in their lives while this President seems to focus only on these two issues most of the time, a bad misalignment with what Americans want him to do.

- I will remember that this President worked hard on a trans pacific trade agreement even though Americans rated that the least important (18th) issue in their lives.

- I will remember that Americans rated the “economy” as the most important issue in their lives even though this Presidential administration has been doing a horrible job at developing and implementing effective economic policy, given that 45 million Americans still receiving monthly Federal food assistance, 14 million Americans who are still unemployed or underemployed, national annual economic growth has never come close to attaining the long term annual average, and household income and wages have been completely stagnant during the life of this Presidency.

- I will remember that dealing with immigration has steadily jumped up over time to become the 11th most important issue to Americans, indicating that they are not happy with Obama’s immigration performance.

- I will remember that as Obama has weakened our military and meddled in military decisions that only experienced military veterans should deal with, Americans desire to “strengthen our military” has grown 8%.

- I will remember how the number of Americans view “protecting the environment” as a top issue has dropped 5% during the Obama Presidency despite the President’s obsession with the potential myth of manmade climate change.

- I will remember how this President promised “hope and change” but 51% of Americans now think that his failures will now outweigh his accomplishments with only 39% thinking his accomplishments will outweigh his failures.

- I will remember how independent voters have a massive 16 point difference between those thinking that his failures will outweigh his accomplishments.

Thus, the Pew results show that America also has a lot of bad memories of this Presidency, that I am not an outlier in my memories of how bad the shortcomings have been of this Presidency.

P.S. One last set of memories, based on the fact that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia recently passed away and the President of the United States did not attend the funeral. The funeral was held Washington DC, not an inconvenience for the President. It was held on a weekend, traditionally not a work day for anyone in Washington. Previous Presidents have attended funerals of Supreme Court justices so there is a precedent. It is not in the heat of an election season.

Thus, I will remember how this President refused to attend the funeral of a very important person in this country but did attend, and speak at, the funeral of others whose importance and contributions to the country was far less important:

  • Less than two months before the 2012 Presidential election, Obama took time out of his schedule to attend and speak at the the funeral service of Democratic Senator Daniel Inouye, which much like the Scalia funeral, is being held in D.C.
  • The President attended and spoke at the funeral of Democrat and former Ku Klux Klan member Senator Robert Byrd.
  • The President attended and spoke at the funeral of Reverend Clementa Pinckney who was one of the nine people killed in a mass shooting in South Carolina in 2015 even though he had never met the reverend.
  • Just six months after skipping the funeral of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and in doing so insulted our British allies, Obama attended and spoke at the funeral of former Democratic Speaker of the House Tom Foley.
  • Obama traveled to New York for the memorial service of Walter Cronkite, where he spoke, although he had never met Cronkite.
  • Obama traveled to South Africa to attend the funeral of non-American Nelson Mandela.
But this President cannot travel across town to the funeral of a Supreme Court justice. And this is so typical of what I will remember of this Presidency: if any event, including an important funeral of an important American, did not support an Obama political situation or feed his ego, he reverts back to being the community organizer that he has always been, whether in Chicago or in Washington.

Supreme Court Rewrites Obama Care Legislation, Destroys the Consitution and Rule Of Law In the Process

Democracy in America died today when the Supreme Court ruled that although an existing  law explicitly states something cannot be done, the executive branch can act like it can be done without first obtaining Congressional approval. Today the Supreme Court decided that it somehow had the authority to rewrite current law without the approval of the Congressional or Executive branches of government, a clear violation of the Constitution.

So in the future, when a future President unilaterally decides that an unborn child takes precedent over that silly Roe vs. Wade decision or unilaterally decides that “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” needs to be reinstated or unilaterally decides that the  Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act are too old to be relevant anymore, understand that the path for these unilateral actions was forged today when the Supreme Court, in concert with the present administration, arbitrarily changed standing law without input from the people or their elected representatives. In the process, this country’s  rule of law and the Constitutional separation of powers has been crushed.

As Judge Scalia wrote in the dissenting opinion, “Words no longer have meaning if an Exchange that is not established by a State is ‘established by the State.’” Or to put it in Orwellian terms, we have fallen down the rabbit hole of Big Brother where, “War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength.” God help us.
