October, 2019, Part 4, Political Class Insanity: Attacking The First Amendment, More Voter Fraud, and Another Inane Idea From Ocasio-Cortez

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) The First Amendment was put in place so that no government entity could restrict the rights of any citizen to express their opinion. Apparently, though, that lesson and right is a foreign concept to the Democratic Mayor of Minneapolis:
  • Trump scheduled a political rally in Minneapolis on October 10 that actually did occur despite the best efforts of the Democratic mayor.
  • Democratic mayor Jacob Frey attempted to shutdown the event and deny local Trump supporters their right to hear Trump speak and to voice their support for him.
  • Trump’s rally was in the Target Center in the city and the mayor threatened to bill the Target Center $530,000 for security and other costs related to the rally.
  • The Target Center then tried to pass these outrageous costs onto the Trump campaign and threatened to deny access to the facility.
  • Trump’s campaign was having nothing to do with this blackmail threat and told the Target Center that the Secret Service is solely responsible for coordinating security and that denying the President the center would be a breach of their mutually signed contract and would result in legal action.
  • The hypocrisy of the whole matter and the denial of First Amendment rights is that when Democrat Obama spoke in the same building in 2009 the police estimated costs were about $20,000, a fraction of the extortion the current Democratic mayor was looking for.
  • Trump’s law firm, Jones Day, summed up this insanity in a letter: “We are well aware of Mayor Frey’s vocal partisan opposition to President Trump and calls to disrupt the rally. This last-minute squeeze seems to be nothing but a pretextual political effort with serious First Amendment ramifications.”
  • Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale piled on: “This is an outrageous abuse of power by a liberal mayor trying to deny the rights of his own city’s residents just because he hates the President. People want to hear from their President, and no mayor looking to beef up his resume for a run for higher office should stand in the way.”
The mayor should not be using the power of his elected office for political gain or revenge. He should be removed for such extortion and blackmail tactics and for trying to shred the First Amendment rights of many citizens within his city.

2) Democrats and liberals like to claim that there is very little voter fraud in this country, probably because when voter fraud is uncovered the fraud, it was done, in the vast amount of times, to the benefit of Democrats. The Heritage Foundation reported on the latest case of voter fraud and did a summary of other voter fraud cases that were caught:
  • A Michigan town voting official has been charged with six felonies because she threw away almost 200 votes in a recent election.
  • J. Christian Adams, president of the Public Interest Legal Foundation, commented on the voter fraud and abuse: “Whether it changed the outcome is not really an issue when you are talking about civil rights. What does matter is canceling votes. The Justice Department needs to carefully scrutinize what votes were canceled and why she would have improperly discarded those 193 [votes].”
  • Southfield city clerk Sherikia Hawkins has been arrested in the case and charged with altering or throwing away 193 absentee ballots.
  • According to the Heritage Foundation reporting: “Hawkins was charged with falsifying election returns, which carries a maximum five-year sentence and a $1,000 fine. She also was charged with forgery of a public record, which carries a maximum 14-year sentence; misconduct in office, which carries a maximum five-year penalty; and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime, each with a maximum seven-year sentence.”
  • In an unrelated matter, or maybe not, the Michigan Democratic Party gave Hawkins the Dingell-Levin award earlier this year.
  • Michigan voting officials claim that the discarded votes were eventually found and included in the final tally.
Very sad when actual election officials are messing with people’s votes and their First Amendment rights as represented by the act of voting. But Hawkins is not alone when it comes to voter fraud:
  • Since 2007 there have been at least four instances where voting officials messed with voting results.
  • In Miami-Dade County, Florida a voting official pleaded guilty to filling out the mail-in ballots of voters in favor of a mayoral candidate.
  • In Canton, Mississippi an election official was convicted in 2013 of stealing a ballot box.
  • A Clackamas County, Oregon, voting official pleaded guilty to altering a ballot in 2013.
  • In 2007, the Justice Department brought a civil penalty against Ike Brown, a former voting official in Noxubee County, Mississippi, for manipulating votes for race-based reasons.
For the record, in every one of these cases except one, it was voter fraud to the benefit of Democrats. So sad when actual voting personnel and officials, those tasked with protecting the integrity of the voting and democratic process are the very ones causing the fraud.

The big question are these isolated assaults on the First Amendment or is this just the tip of the voter fraud iceberg. Given that we have previously reported that states like California have far more “officials” voters on their voting rolls than they have adult citizens in their states and cities, I am afraid that we are more likely looking at an iceberg than a few isolated cases.

3) We used to do a continuing series dedicated exclusively to the idiocy, insanity, and ignorance of freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. For a while it was entertaining to hear her spout off on topics she obviously had no knowledge of and on solutions that were so inane as to be funny.

But after a while it got tedious listening to her drone on about how everyone was against her, how anyone that disagreed with her was a racist, and that she cared more about illegal immigrants than she cared about needy Americans. But sometimes she has to be heard, especially when she says stuff like the following:
  • The New York Congresswoman recently stated in Congress that American taxpayers need to pony up some money to bailout New York City taxi drivers.
  • In order to legally drive a taxi in NYC, a driver has to purchase a so-called taxi medallion.
  • Since NYC politicians artificially restrict the number of taxi medallions that exist, simple economic theory would say that when you restrict the supply of anything and demand gets greater, the price of that supply (taxi medallions) has to go up.
  • This is what has happened in NYC, restricting the number of medallions has driven up the cost of a medallion to very high levels which has forced would be taxi drivers to take out loans to be able to afford the purchase of a medallion.
  • But simple economic theory, as always, is beyond the comprehension ability of Ocasio-Cortez.
  • Specifically: “These taxi drivers need a bailout because this is not just about predatory collection practices … this is manufactured financial indentured servitude and it is wrong. We need to bailout these drivers, and I would like to invite my colleagues here on the federal level and our partners on the city level to make sure they get the job done.”
I am sorry to say but her idiocy and ignorance never ends:
  • If her Democrat NYC politicians had not restricted the number of medallions, then the cost of medallions would not be so high, that is not the fault or responsibility of the American taxpayer.
  • No one forced these NYC taxi drivers to enter the taxi industry and pay high prices for taxi medallions, they freely chose to enter into a high priced arrangement, that is not the fault of the American taxpayer.
  • And this situation is not unique to NYC, other cities also restrict the number of medallions so why should the American taxpayer only bailout NYC taxi drivers as Ocasio-Cortez suggests?
  • And as always, millions of Americans are homeless and hungry, millions of Americans need drug addiction treatment, thousands of veterans are not receiving the medical care they have been promised, there are so many more issues affecting so many millions of Americans but Ocasio-Cortez is focused on a very small group of people who are in the situation they are in because of their own fault and own free will.
As always, a pathetic set of priorities. Bailing out NYC taxi drivers would likely not be in the top one hundred priorities if we polled every American and yet, Ocasio-Cortez is too ignorant, too lazy, or too focused on getting future votes to work on real issues.

Enough insanity for today: Ocasio-Cortez shows her ignorance again, more examples of voter fraud, and another serious attack by a politician on the First Amendment rights of Americans.
