July, 2020, Part 6, Political Class Insanity: The Incredible Incompetence of Bill de Blasio and the Incredible Hatred of A Joe Biden Staffer

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) It is quite difficult to pinpoint what is the worst big city mayor in the country these days:

• The mayor of Seattle allowed the downtown area of her city to be taken over for weeks by a bunch of thugs, anarchists, and miscreants.
• The mayor of Portland has allowed his city to be totally taken over by the same type of low lifes whenever they want to.
• The mayor of Chicago has no clue on how to handle the city’s out of control violence and the wrath it rains down on the city’s innocent men, women, and CHILDREN every week. 
• The mayor of San Francisco has supported laws that no longer make it a crime to defecate, urinate, or shoot up illegal drugs in public.

But probably the worst mayor in the country right now, based on recent developments and idiocy, has to be Bill de Blasio in New York City. Seems everything he touches gets screwed up:

• In early March he encouraged city residents to go about their business and socializing in bars and restaurants because the corona virus was not transmitted by food or drink, a false statement that probably led to unnecessary increases in virus sickness and deaths.
• His inaction during the city’s riots, caused as a result of the George Floyd murder, caused severe and long lasting damage to the city’s infrastructure and reputation.
• His inability to fix the city’s ever growing homeless problem led him to a program that bribed homeless people to just leave and move to other cities.
• His hatred of the police force and their function has led to bitter, public exchanges between the police and the mayor.

Through it all it has never been his fault in his mind, it was always someone else’s fault. Such is the case with his latest inane claim that the severely increasing rate of violent crime in his city is not his fault, it is somehow the fault of the court system:

• The increased violence is not his fault, it is the fault of the New York State Office of Court Administration in his mind.
• In a recent press conference he asserted that the city streets are far less safe because the court refuses to open.
• Unfortunately, for the mayor, he is either too ignorant to learn the truth or he thinks the rest of the world is too lazy to check his accusations.
• According to a spokesperson for the Court, Lucien Chalfen: “Throughout this pandemic, through the unceasing hard work and dedication of judges, non-judicial staff and court officers, the New York State Court system has continued to function. We have never closed: not for one day, not for one hour, not for one minute. Clearly, the Mayor continues to refuse to take any responsibility for his actions, instead shifting the blame.”
• Pat Cullen, president of the New York State Supreme Court Officers Association, also had some choice words for the mayor: “Bill de Blasio is a complete moron. Shifting blame to a state agency that has remained in operation despite a global health emergency is what we have come to expect from the single most destructive person in this city’s history.”

Quite the ridiculous and ignorant statement to make when it is obviously not true. But he needs something or someone to blame to take the heat off of what is going on during his term as mayor:

• According to the New York Times, through July 12 of this year there have been 643 shootings in the city, more than three per day.
• Through July 12 of 2019, there were 396 shootings, 247 fewer than this year.
• This year, NYPD police forces have made arrests in 23% of the shootings, 7% less than the usual 30% rate.

And how does de Blasio react to the violence and his latest falsehood? He helps cut the police budget by $1 billion and putting forth a reform package that makes it harder to arrest criminals suspects. Oh, he also found time to paint a Black Lives Matter mural on a NYC street.

Put this all together and I would have to say that de Blasio is the leader in the clubhouse of the worst mayor in the country. They said he could not be worse than the Chicago mayor, Lori Lightfoot, but somehow he did it. When your city's crime and violence rates are soaring, when the police despise you, and the court system thinks you're a “moron,” you definitely have it all going on.

2) There is a lot of antagonization going on in the country right now. The last thing we need is more bitter and hateful words directed at any segment of the population. We need adult and mature dialog, not venomous exchange of hate.

Apparently, that need for civil discourse never made it to a member of Joe Biden’s campaign staff:

• Sara Pearl is a video producer for the Biden campaign.
• Last month she tweeted out a meme that implied that police officers were worse than pigs, with the meme inferring that pigs are “highly intelligent and empathetic animals who would never racial profile you.”
• She also put forth a post that said “while pigs are sweet, intelligent and compassionate,” police officers are “monsters” who “don’t deserve to be called pigs.”
• But this kind of hate from her should not be a surprise. Back in 2016 after a man shot five people dead including police officers, Pearl went off in public and slammed the NRA for expressing sympathy for the police officers who were killed by the man.

Real nice person. Obviously she is a part of the problem because she is certainly not a part of the solution.

3) Back to de Blasio and his unbelievable take on reality and how his ignorance is now dangerous besides being insane. In a recent press conference, he bragged about how he was able to reduce the city’s prison population to its lowest level since World War II: “We now have fewer people in our jails than any time since [World War II], and we are safer and better for it.”

Huh?! “We are safer and better for it?” Is he kidding:

• Just above we discussed the reality that shootings in the city are way up this year and arrests are down, hardly a reasonable situation to say city residents are safer and better off.
• The week he made this ridiculous statement NYC shootings during the week were up 277% vs. the same week last year in the city.
• Major crime instances are up 22% this year vs. 2019.
• In June, 2020, there were 38 city murders over the previous four weeks, twice as many as last year.
• On a recent Monday, 18 people were shot in 14 different incidents while six city police officers were injured in confrontations with protesters on the Brooklyn Bridge.
• Among those 18 people who were shot was a one year old who was shot and killed in Brooklyn.
• While all of this was going on, de Blasio made sure that 27 city police officers were assigned to working shifts to protect a Black Lives Matter Mural that was painted in the city even though violent crime was exploding all across the city.

It's easy to reduce the city’s prison population when you basically open the front door and throw away the key. His policies did not reduce crime which would have reduced the prison population, he just opened the doors. As a result, violence, crime, and shooting deaths are way up while he gloats in his self-righteousness. Such a sad, sad example of a failed and self delusional politician and leader.

That will do it for today’s insanity: an unbelievably inept leader in New York City and a vicious and hateful member of Joe Biden’s campaign staff, all of which does nothing to address and resolve the main issues facing the country today.
