As we have dove into the whole issue of manmade global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:
- Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
- Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
- Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control on our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.
Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaims.
Two posts ago we discussed the Dalton Minimum, a solar condition that results in very low solar activity. The last time that the Dalton Minimum occurred, several hundred years ago, the Earth experienced a forty year span of extremely cold weather. Various research efforts on global warming have also pointed to the sun as a prime driver, of warming and cooling, of the Earth’s climate.
That previous post discussed the NASA research and tracking that points to another Dalton Minimum situation that is about to occur on the sun. The question that needs to be determined is whether the Dalton Minimum that is approaching will cause another period of extreme cooling of the climate.
This is critical since the last time this happened life on Earth was not pleasant:
- The period from 1790 to 1830 of the last Dalton minimum resulted in extreme cold, severe crop failures, famine, and war.
- Germany experienced a 2 Celsius degree decrease in air temperatures that destroyed the German food production.
- The year 1816 experienced what is called “the Year Without A Summer” since temperatures were so low that England experienced snow in the middle of the summer.
- There were big volcanoes and earthquakes during this Dalton Minimum period.
- A Virginian of the time wrote: “In June another snowfall came and folks went sleighing. On July 4, water froze in cisterns and snow fell again, with Independence Day celebrants moving inside churches where hearth fires warmed things a mite.”
- In Pennsylvania, there are documents that claim there was ice on ponds and lakes in the state in July and August.
- In New England, wet washed clothes froze while outside on the line to dry.
- Throughout the country, crops were frozen to death in June and when replanted, froze again in July.
- All of this saw crop prices going sky high, e.g. oats that sold for $.12 a bushel in one year sold for $.92 a bushel a year later because of the cold temps and resultant crop failures.
- The potato crop in Ireland froze in the ground leading to a famine.
- England, France, and German had wheat crop failures which led to bread shortages which led to food riots.
- Northern China experienced mass starvation while torrential rains in southern Asia created a cholera epidemic.
- The year 1816 was nicknamed “Eighteen Hundred and Froze to Death.”
- Other non-NASA research by a team led by Valentina Zharkova predicts that all four of the sun's magnetic fields will go out of phase in 2020 which will lead to decreased solar activity and another global cooling period.
