July, 2021, Part 10, Political Class Insanity: Hunter Biden Avoids Criminal Investigation, Inflation Rages, An African American Wants Race Segregation, and San Francisco Deploys Designer Trash Cans

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

Note: this is the tenth installment of Political Class Insanity for this month. We keep trying to move on to other topics but every time we try, another instance of political class insanity, ineptness, or greed pops up that needs to be identified and discussed. Today’s post is no different.

1) It is no secret that Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has leveraged his father’s political career to enrich himself and his family to the tune of millions and millions of dollars. He has gotten financial favors from the Ukraine to Russia to China, all because of his father’s positions in the U.S. government.

In addition to the financial windfalls, it now appears that he may have gotten air cover for criminal activities, again, because of his father’s political capital:
  • News reports are coming out that indicate that Delaware’s U.S. Attorney General, David Weiss, may have intentionally avoided taking criminal action against Hunter Biden for potential tax law violations in the months prior to the 2020 Presidential election.
  • Weiss was also looking into Hunter Biden’s shady and possibly illegal dealings with foreign entities.
  • Weiss’s investigation was close to issuing grand jury subpoenas and search warrants but decided not to do so despite the information they had gathered.
  • Despite a reputation and track record for being tough and independent, Weiss backed off doing anything that could influence the election.
  • And since Biden’s election, nothing further has been done with the investigations.
Now, Hunter Biden could be completely innocent of whatever Weiss was looking into. But consider this: Weiss was a Trump appointed attorney general and what usually happens when a new party comes into control of the White House they dump most if not all of the attorney general’s that the other party’s President appointed. However, David Weiss, a Trump appointee, is still the U.S. Attorney General in Delaware. And Hunter Biden has not been investigated or indicted. You can draw your own conclusions.

2) It is no secret that prices on just about everything have gone up since Biden became President. While that is bad, the real problem is that Biden has no plan or ability to fix what is ravaging household budgets. And according to people in the food industry, things are going to get a lot worse before they get better:
  • John Catsimatidis is the owner and CEO of the NYC based grocery chain, Gristedes Foods.
  • In a recent interview he says Americans should expect another 10%-14% increase in food inflation by October.
  • Specifically: “We’re both in the food business, and we’re in the oil business. Food prices are getting higher, and we expect even more increases by October. We’re seeing anywhere from 10% to 14% by October 1. It’s a real number. And oil prices — I know they’re a little bit off today, but I expect even higher numbers. It’s a sine wave — everything just goes up and down. I expect by October you’re gonna have over a 6% annualized rate of inflation.”
  • And of course, he logically concluded that businesses will pass along those increased costs of business to consumers.
  • Of course, Biden disagrees, saying that inflation will be a short term blip, proving again he has no plan to help American consumers.
Who do you believe, an experienced, successful billionaire businessman or Joe Biden? I know where my inflation weakened dollar would be placed.

3) One of the greatest Americans of all time was Martin Luther King, Jr. King fought for equality and the tearing down of the segregation barriers, in whatever form they existed, so that Americans of all races, nationalities, opinions and sexes could live together in peace and harmony. He was quite successful in helping to move the country in that direction, “United States of America,” not “Segregated States of America.”

But now a local, African-America wannabe politician in Washington DC wants to do the exact opposite of King’s unifying vision for America:
  • Addison Sarter, is a former Democrat contender for a DC city council seat.
  • He is expected to unveil an inane ballot effort that would create segregated “autonomous zones” for African Americans living within the DC city limits.
  • These zones would have their own mayor and operate under their own independent legal code.
  • In other words, he wants to reimpose segregation on black Americans, the exact opposite goal of Reverend King.
Sometimes you just shake your head and realize that some harebrained ideas from actual or would-be politicians are just so lame and unbelievable. Take this to the extreme:
  • Let’s say everyone who lives in a Chinatown in the major cities across the country insists that they have their own autonomous zones.
  • Let’s do the same with every Korean neighborhood across the country.
  • There are a lot Somali immigrants living in Minneapolis so let’s give them their own autonomous zones.
  • Of course, white folks are going to want their own autonomous zones to keep out the Chinese, Koreans, Somalis, and Africa Americans (sarcasm).
So who do you believe has a better idea: Martin Luther King, Jr. who detested segregation or some no name local politcian who wants to create segregated cities on purpose? Not a contest.

4) We have often had to discuss the dire straits that San Francisco has put itself into, mainly because of just the utterly ineptness of the local politicians:
  • There is a major homelessness problem in the city.
  • City politicians have made it not a crime to publicly urinate, defecate, or shoot up illegal drugs in the city so naturally people urinate, defecate, and shoot up drugs in public, creating both major sanitary and environmental problems in the city.
  • Housing prices are out of control, making it almost impossible except for the very rich to comfortably live in the city.
  • Like most locations in California, local and state taxes make living in the city very, very expensive.
  • Since many crimes are not followed up on by city police officers, e.g. shoplifting, crime is rampaging in the city.
  • Research by the Policy Education organization estimates the city’s unfunded financial liabilities are about $141 billion, a liability of over $16,000 for every man, woman, and child living in the city.
The city is in a sad state from sanitary, public decency, taxation, criminal, and unfunded financial liabilities perspectives, all because of inane and stupid local politicians. But given all of the problems, city politicians have embarked on another idiotic venture that will fix none of the current city problems but will waste taxpayer dollars that could have been used to actually improve daily life in the city for its residents:
  • The city politicians and bureaucrats have decided to deploy new trash cans throughout the city at a cost, wait for it, as high as $20,000 PER trash can.
  • Yes, given all of the city problems listed above, local political and city leaders think paying up to $20,000 per trash can is a good idea.
  • These trash cans will be in designer shapes and will greet customers when they dump garbage into the trash cans.
  • The city will make and deploy 15 of these designer trash cans in a city wide competition to see what design is most favored...for trash cans.
  • Public Works acting director, Alaric Degrafinried, claimed the cost is so high because the trash cans will have that “rare and precious personal touch,” something everyone wants in their local trash cans (sarcasm).
  • According to a local news report: “The cans will be made of stainless steel and have a handy-dandy sensor measuring how much yuk is in each one “to make sure we are going to send people where the work is needed,” said Degrafinried.”
  • And there is an additional taxpayer cost because a website was created and paid for so that the locals can see, discuss and vote for their favorite designer trash can.
  • Degrafinried went on with more nonsense: “San Francisco is a beautiful city and keeping it clean can be a challenge. Finding the right public trash can to serve our needs at a reasonable cost has driven this design process. All three contending designs meet our requirements conceptually: They are durable, hard to tamper with, easy to service and aesthetically pleasing.”
  • The website says that the “Salt and Pepper” design is “unique and elegant profile [that] stands out from afar.”
  • I will not waste anyone’s time with the stupid descriptions of the other two designs that are described on the website.
Homeless city residents, drug addicted city residents, highly taxed city residents, criminal city residents, etc. and the idiots in the city government, bureaucrats and politicians, are wasting time, energy, and money on designer, expensive trash cans. You cannot make this stupidity up.

That will do it for today’s insanity: inflation out of control, Hunter Biden slides away from criminal investigation because of his father’s political pull, an African American WANTS segregation, and designer trash cans are a priority for the city government in San Francisco.
