Joe Biden - A Poster Child For Term Limits: 47 Years in Office and Nothing Positive To Show For It

As Joe Biden prepares to take office, it may be a good time to reflect on his long career in Washington. The basis of this reflection started with a Facebook post I saw to which I added to since I thought it had missed some of his many accomplishments and exploits.

His life in politics confirms that many Americans think about our current set of politicians, i.e. we need term limits and we need them badly, given the lackluster and somewhat disgraceful political career of Joe Biden, given his antics, racism, sexism, and lack of accomplishment.

Thus, the following is a year by year review of every Joe Biden accomplishments:

1973 Biden enters politics...

1974

1975

1976

1977 Biden fights to keep schools segregated because in his own words, “allowing blacks to integrate would create a racial jungle.”

1978

1979

1980

1981

1982

1983 Biden taxes Social Security

1984

1985

1986

1987

1988 Biden runs for President but has to end his campaign after getting busted for plagiarism.

1989

1990

1991

1992

1993 Biden allegedly sexually attacks Senate aide Tara Reade.

1994 Biden writes the "Stop and Frisk" law which is what African-Americans blame for "systemic racism" today. This law took millions of black men from their communities and transplanted them into prison, many times for minor criminal violations. This was Biden's biggest legislative accomplishment in 47 years of elected office.

1995

1996

1997

1998

1999

2000

2001

2002

2003

2004

2005

2006 Biden issues the following racist comment: “You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

2007

2008 Calls Obama the first “articulate" and "clean" mainstream African-American while also telling 14 year old Eva Murray that, “Fourteen? You’re very well endowed for 14!” while attending a Delaware fundraiser.

2009 Becomes the Vice President of a Presidential administration that adds almost as much national debt as all previous Presidents COMBINED while Amy Lappos claims that Biden grabbed and held her inappropriately at a Connecticut fundraiser.

2010

2011

2012 Writer D.J. Hill’s husband had to intervene when Biden got too handsy with her at a Minneapolis fundraiser.

2013

2014 Lucy Flores claims that Biden grabbed and held her inappropriately at a Nevada fundraiser.

2015

2016 Caitlyn Caruso claims that during a spring, 2016 conference on sexual harassment Biden put his hand on her thigh for “an uncomfortable amount of time.” and also in 2016, Sofie Karasek at the 2016 Oscars claims that Biden violated her personal space.

2017

2018

2019

2020: Biden issues the following racist remarks during his Presidential campaign: 1) “Jeez, the reason I was able to stay sequestered in my home is because some black woman was able to stack the grocery shelf.” 2) “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.” 3) If you vote for the other guy, “you ain’t black.” 4) "And by the way, what you all know, but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.”

The need for term limits could not be any clearer: 47 years in Washington and nothing positive to show for it except the self enrichment of himself and his family. As the famous Brazilian clown, Tiririca, once said when he ran for, and got elected, to public office in Brazil: “It can’t get any worse.” then career politicians currently in office. How much worse could it get if we did have term limits in this country and term limits forced Joe Biden to get out of politics back in the 1970s? I really don't think it could have been any worse.

Retro 4, Part 4, The Obama Presidency, The End Of An Error - Diplomatic and Foreign Affairs Failures and Disasters

We originally ran this post back in October at around the 100 day mark of the final days of the Obama Presidency. We ended up running about seven blog posts which did a deep dive into the activities, acomplishmentsand failures of this Presidency. We found very little in the way of accomplishments but dozens and dozens of cases of falures and disasters, from the economy to foreign affairs to the basic concept of integrity. We are going to rerun those post over the next week or so as we close in on an end of an error, the Obama Presidency.

Part 4, The Obama Presidency, The End Of An Error - Diplomatic and Foreign Affairs Failures and Disasters

As we near the end of the Obama Presidency, I thought it would be a good idea at the 100 day mark to review what he has done to and for this country over the past eight years. Before we do that, though, let me repeat my previous background statements on my past political actions:
  • I have never voted for a Republican Presidential candidate in my life and I have been voting since the the Nixon era.
  • Until 2010, I have never voted for a Republican for national office in my life.
  • I am not affiliated with nor do I associate myself with the Republican Party, conservatives or people like Donald Trump.
Okay, now that we understand where I am coming from, let me just say that in my opinion Barack Obama has been the most inept, most divisive, most narcissist and worst diplomat in my lifetime to reside in the White House. From the economy, to race relations, to the national debt, to foreign relations to government operations, to blatant disregard for existing laws and the Constitution, in just about any measure we are far worse off as a nation than prior to him coming into office.

We will breaking down the failures and disappointments of this administration into some broad categories that will take us a number of days to cover as we analyze “The Obama Presidency - The End Of An Error.” Three days ago we reviewed the dozens of lies and broken promises of this President and two days we talked about the dozens of times that the Obama administration violated laws, the Constitution, and judicial rulings.

Yesterday, we focused on how Obama and his administration has actively and aggressively divided Americans along sexual, racial, economic, and political lines. Specifically, rather than bringing people together, Obama stood silent and watched his political allies slander, degrade, insult, and divide the country to suit his needs, not the needs of the country and its citizens.

Today, we will focus on the many, many failures of the Obama administration when it comes to international relations. I can think of now world area or even a single country where we are in better relations now than when Obama came into office. Instead, we have been graced with the following foreign relations disasters:

Massive Foreign Affairs Failures:

Remember when Obama failed to slow down the North Korean drive for nuclear weapons when that country conducted its second nuclear bomb test in 2016 which had the blast equivalent to the Hiroshima nuclear bomb.

Remember when North Korea claimed that it now had“a variety of smaller, lighter, and diversified nuclear warheads of higher strike power … standardized [to be] mounted on strategic ballistic rockets,” and successfully conducted tests of its intercontinental ballistic missile, a road-mobile intermediate-range missile, a submarine-launched ballistic missile, upgraded medium- and short-range missiles, re-entry vehicle technology, a new solid-fuel rocket engine, and an improved liquid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile engine,” all of which makes the world and our country less safe than it was eight years ago.

Remember when Obama butted into, criticized, and lectured the Philippines and its President on its effort to curb drug addiction and drug cartels in its country, ticking off the country and it’s President, Rodrigo Duterte, so much that he called Obama the “a son of a whore,” and promptly began distancing his country from the U.S. and making overtones to become more closely aligned with China, a U.S. competitor in many, many ways.

Remember when Obama gave Iran just about anything it wanted in its so-called nuclear weapons agreement and Iran turned around and showed its gratitude by threatening to shoot down US spy planes operating in the Persian Gulf and harassed U.S. Navy ships operating in international waters, showing that nothing says no respect for a US President than some piss ant little country harassing the most powerful armed forces in the world and the President and commander in chief of those armed forces doing nothing.

Remember when the President of Brazil turned down the opportunity to have a state dinner at the White House sponsored by Obama because his administration had spied on the Brazilian President’s phone calls.

Remember when Obama called ISIS a JV terrorist organization and then the world watched as ISIS grew into the most terrifying, gruesome, and richest terror organization of all time?

Remember when Obama threatened the Syrian government and strongman Assad not to cross the “red line” of using chemical weapons on Syrian citizens and then did nothing when Assad ignored Obama’s warning and crossed that red line?

Remember when Putin and Russia invaded the Ukraine and Obama did relatively little to oppose that hostile move, a strategy that was so ineffective that Russia still controls vast swaths of the Ukraine?

Remember when Obama pulled off one of the lamest foreign affairs stunts of all time when he refused to join other world leaders when Paris and France suffered terrible terror attacks by ISIS but a week or so later sent John Kerry and singer James Taylor to France where he sang his four decade old hit song, “You’ve Got A Friend?”

Remember when Obama prematurely withdrew the last US troops from Iraq, against the advice of his diplomatic and military advisors, in order to make a trite political point in his reelection campaign, which directly led to the rise of ISIS, the terrorist implosion of the country, and the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of Iraqi citizens from terrorism?

Remember when Obama injected himself into the whole BREXIT discussion in Great Britain and not only was he told by any number of British politicians to butt out of their internal affairs but there is some evidence that his intrusion with his opinion that Britain should reject the BREXIT option resulted in a backlash that actually allowed the BREXIT option to win?

Remember when China decided to build artificial islands all over the Pacific Ocean, likely for military purposes, and faced no effective counter strategy or counter balance from the Obama administration

Remember when Obama tried to open diplomatic relations with Cuba and the Casto brothers, Fidel and Raul, and then had to sit by as the brothers then belittled and insulted the President in various ways and via various media outlets?

Remember when Obama became the first President to have U.S. armed forces actively involved in warfare during the entire length of his Presidency?

Remember when Obama’s lack of a cohesive Afghanistan military strategy resulted in the Taliban regaining much of the territory it had to give up over the past decade or so, endangering any and all progress that had been made by the U.S. and its allies over the same timeframe?

Remember how Obama incurred the highest percentage, by far, of Israeli citizens saying that Obama was the least friendly President ever towards Israel, one of our few allies in the Middle East region?

Remember when Obama illegally and un-Constitutionally entered U.S. armed forces in the Libyan military conflict, resulting in the spending of billions of taxpayer dollars on weapons and munitions and needlessly toppling a foreign government and society, causing it to morph into a terrorist haven and failed country?
This list is a lot of failures to remember. Intrusion to other country’s business, ticking off traditional allies, impotence to stop evil from spreading, failure to consolidate gains in Iraq and Afghanistan, failures on all fronts. A foreign affairs end of an error. More discussion tomorrow and subsequent days on the Obama Presidency.

Aoril, 2016, Part 2, Polticial Class Insanity: Hillary Sucking Up FBI Resources, Another John Kerry Stupid Idea, Fighting Ourselves in Syria and More

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

It looks like our politicians have been especially insane over the past month or so let’s get started a day early with the latest insanity from today’s American politicians:

1) Hillary Clinton has constantly asserted that she never broke the law and never did anything wrong or illegal regarding having an easily hackable computer server in her own house to do State Department work and communications on. The FBI would probably beg to differ since according to recent news reports, including ones from the Clinton friendly Washington Post, there are a whopping 147 FBI FBI agents investigating all of the insanity of Hillary Clinton and her time in the State Department.

Since there are about 14,000 FBI agents across the country, that means that over 10% of the FBI agent resources are being used to investigate the many likely infractions of Hillary. 10% of agent resources that cannot be used to combat domestic and international terrorism, 10% of the agents that cannot be used to help secure the border. 10% of the agents that cannot be used to combat gang violence in our inner cities.

What a tremendous waste of resources that Clinton has caused to occur because she never likely followed Federal laws and government protools on data and computer security. If ashe had any class, she would terminate her campaign, face the music on her lawbreaking, go away, and let these 10% of FBI agents get on with the more important job of protecting Americans. But you know she won’t, like any other American politician today, it is always all about her and them, never about America or Americans.

2) Sometimes when we do these insanity posts, you just have to shake your head and say what the heck is going on, who is in charge and why all of the stupidity? The latest bad news out of Syria is that two different militias have been fighting each other. No big news there, in any armed conflict and civil war you can expect different groups to be fighting each other in the chaos of war.

But only the American political class could arm two different militias which end up fighting each other. According to recent news reports, one militia has been armed by the CIA while another militia has been armed by the Pentagon. Insanity, the American taxpayer funding different groups of fighters in Syria that are fighting each other. You cannot make this up.

In the past two months, CIA-armed rebels have been fighting Pentagon-armed rebels in northern Syria near the Turkish border by the city of Aleppo. In February, a CIA-armed militia called the Knights of Righteousness, was routed out of the town of Marea by Pentagon-backed Syrian Democratic Forces moving in from Kurdish-controlled areas to the east.

As with every other Obama administration effort and program in Syria, it has been a disaster. Now, when you have your allies shooting eachother with U.S. taxpayer funded American weapons, you can only conclude that the OBama administration still s no control or idea what is going on in Syria, a situation that it has managed to make worse with every effort it has launched.

3) Bill Maher has usually been a staunch defender of Obama, reportedly having donated over a million dollars to Obama campaign organizations and efforts over the years. So when Maher disagrees with the President and the insanity of his lies and deceptions, one has to sit up and take notice.

Obama recently asserted that “99.9%” of Muslims do not support radical Islamic elements and terror groups, just a small slice does. But Maher on a recent edition of his HBO show was having none of it: “But it’s not one small slice. You know, everybody talks about this, like there are no numbers. Obama said it’s very important for us to align ourselves with the 99.9% of Muslims who are looking for the same thing we’re looking for, order, peace, prosperity. I love the president, but he just pulled that number right out of his a**. There are numbers. We had a guest on a couple of weeks ago, Raheel Raza. … She goes by the numbers. That’s what her video was called. 53% of the population of 39 Muslim countries that were surveyed want, Sharia Law. sharia law, death for leaving Islam, death for insulting the prophet, or the Koran, stoning a woman to death for adultery, amputation for theft, whipping for missing Friday prayers ,or drinking alcohol. The numbers vary from country to country, but this idea that it’s just this small problem, the reason why this is a unique problem…. The New York Times says there are 5,000 militant Islamic groups in the world, armies, like Boko Haram, and ISIS, and the Taliban, and al Qaeda, intent — they want to get nuclear weapons, support from the local population. I’m not saying most people want to commit terrorist acts, I’m saying they have illiberal ideas, that are sometimes in line with what the terrorists believe, and recent events.”

So much like previous posts where we showed how a lot of long time Obama supporters were finally seeing him for his deceiving self, it looks like Maher may be joining that group, actually looking at real numbers based on real research rather blindly accept numbers that Obama pulls out of thin air, 99.9%.

The insanity here is that even Bill Maher, donator of loads of money to Obama’s political efforts and campaign, realizes that just because this President says something, does not mean it is true.

4) We have never been a big fan of John Kerry. Although a millionaire many times over, long ago we reported on how he stored his large yacht in Rhode Island rather than the state he represented in the Senate, to avoid higher Massachusetts boat taxes. Rather than execute real diplomacy and sympathy in the wake of the 2015 Paris terrorists attacks, he lamely flew James Taylor over to Europe to lamely sing “You’ve Got A Friend” in the absence of having any real plan to support the French in their times of need. Rather than have a real military, intelligence, and diplomatic strategy to combat ISIS, he met with Hollywood bigwigs about coming up with a Hollywood production to combat ISIS.

To this insanity, we today add another, new John Kerry embarrassment. He and his State Department has pulled together $1.5 million in U.S. taxpayer wealth to finance the production of a television show to combat ISIS in Afghanistan. Let me say that again for emphasis: $1.5 million in U.S. taxpayer wealth will be used to finance the production of a television show to combat ISIS in Afghanistan. Pathetic excuse for diplomacy and real strategy development.

The State Department announced that it has put up $1.5 million in a grant to develop and produce a drama series that is supposed to be “countering violent extremism among young people in contemporary Afghan society. The drama will be grounded in reality, but will also contain compelling creative content (i.e. storytelling, resonant narratives, strong characters, sophisticated production, etc.),In short, it will strive to be entertaining while challenging viewers to engage in critical thinking by placing characters in situations where they are faced with a choice: support universal values of tolerance and peace or be drawn into the dark world of extremism.”

Two small problems with this wasting of $1.5 million: how many people in the Afghan countryside of have televisions, where the terrorists are likely to be strongest, actually have televisions in their homes? Afghanistan is one ofthe poorest countries in the world I would bet that a 48 inch Sony is not a top priority for them and their families. Second, forget televisions, how many Afghan homes even have electricity to operate a televisions that likely to not own., What a boneheaded program, does no one at the State Department even think about this insanity before they waste taxpayer wealth?

5) Brent Scher, writing for the Washington Free Beacon on March 28, 2016, highlighted another problem that Hillary Clinton has in addition to her email server fiasco, Benghazi, overall lack of trustworthiness, and other issues. Clinton once praised Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff as “setting a global standard” on how to fight corruption. But a recent New York Times report that massive protests against the corruption of Rousseff’s administration included about half a million citizens. That’s a lot of outraged citizens.

Rousseff’s problems include a myriad of different things including possible impeachment, taking bribes, protecting cronies, kickbacks involving businesses competing for government contracts, government accounting and financial hanky-panky, etc. But somehow Hillary Clinton thinks that Rousseff is setting some sort of high standard in the fight against corruption. Insane.

That will do it for today's insanity. Hillary Clinton not having a good grasp “global standard” against government corruption is, John Kerry’s State Department’s latest stupid idea on how to combat terrorism, another Obama supporter calling him out for his deceptions, fighting ourselves in Syria, and wasting government resources because Hillary Clinton was too arrogant to follow the rules and laws when it comes to government data security. More insanity tomorrow.

November, 2014, Bonus Post, Political Class Insanity: NASA's Wasteful Spending, White Staffer And The Prostitute, and Subsidizing Cotton Farmers In Brazil

Please note: yesterday was supposed to be our last post on political class insanity for this month. However, before we could publish all of the posts that we had written to cover the last 30 days or so of insanity, more insanity popped up, resulting in this bonus post of political class insanity for the month of November, 2014. I promise this will be the last insanity post this month, not necessarily because we covered it all but because by covering it all we got too depressed to go on until early next month.

It is the start of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity that has been dumped on us by the worst set of politicians to ever hold office in the history of this country. From wasteful spending to bad priorities to general ineffectiveness, the insanity rolling out of Washington and other political centers and governments around the country seems to be accelerating as the idiocy of our political times increases.

1) A recent Heritage Foundation article by Daren Bakst revealed that the U.S. taxpayer recently paid out $300 million to help the Brazilian cotton industry. Apparently, back in 2002, Brazil brought a case against the U.S. in front of the World Trade Organization (WTO) that claimed American Federal government cotton subsidies paid out to American cotton farmers violated WTO rules.

We lost the case in front of the WTO, paid some fines, and finally reached an agreement with Brazil to pay them a final $300 million payment to make the whole affair go away. Well, go away at least temporarily, until 2018 or so. If the subsidies are not removed by 2018, Brazil and others could reinstate their complaint with the WTO and the fines could continue again beyond this final $300 million payment.

What do the subsidies do? According to the Heritage Foundation report: Stacked Income Protection Plan (STAX) which is a special supplemental crop insurance program just for cotton. Taxpayers are forced to subsidize an astonishing 80 percent of the premiums for participating farmers, and the program guarantees anywhere from 70 to 90 percent of anticipated revenue (it covers shallow losses, i.e. minor losses). Brazil had argued that this new program would increase U.S. trade-distorting subsidies.

So, Americans lose three ways:
  1. Our tax money is used to subsidize cotton farmers in this country.
  2. As with any government subsidy, this probably keeps the cost of cotton and cotton products higher than they normally would have been.
  3. Our tax money is also used to subsidize Brazilian cotton farmers because Congress insists on always renewing the farm subsidies legislation whenever it comes up.

A triple play of losses for American taxpayers.

2) Many of you probably remember a Secret Service scandal a few years ago when the Secret Service’s advance security team went down to Columbia to secure the travel arrangements for a President Obama visit. But, in addition, the team members ended up cavorting with Columbian prostitutes while on the job. A lot of these folks lost their jobs and careers as a result of their bad judgment.

But the Washington Post recently reported that it was not just the Secret Service personnel who were cavorting. While the White House continues to claim that no White House officials were involved with prostitutes down in Columbia, newly reviewed government documents and interviews show that senior White House aides were indeed in possession of information at the time suggesting that a prostitute was an actual overnight guest in the hotel room of a Presidential advance-team member. I am shocked, this administration lied! Who would have thought. Yet that information was never thoroughly investigated or publicly acknowledged.

While the White House denied any of their people were involved, a separate set of investigators in the inspector general’s office of the Department of Homeland found additional evidence from records and eyewitnesses that this was not the case. The lead investigator in this inspector general office told Senate staffers that he felt pressure from his superiors in the office of Charles K. Edwards, who was then the acting inspector general, to withhold evidence that White House staff had been involved.

In this case the cover up is worse than the crime. For security reasons, a White house staffer should not be involved with a prostitute in a foreign land ahead of a Presidential visit. That is just stupid. Unfortunately, lying and cover ups after the fact from this administration is routine.

3) We keep coming up with additional stupid Federal spending uncovered by Senator Tom Coburn’s latest casebook publication. The latest ones include the following idiocy strictly centered within NASA:
  • NASA's A3 Rocket-Testing Tower, also known as the "Tower of Pork," which is still being built even though the rocket launch program that would use this new tower was cancelled four years ago.- $44.5 million
  • NASA Study on How Humans React to Space Aliens. An official NASA document justified the study, saying that "communicating with intelligent terrestrial beings removed from us in time can be deeply problematic." I do not know what that statement means, seems like nonsense, but really, communicating with alien life forms needs to be studied and financed? Americans have enough trouble communicating with the political class in Washington, that might be a better place to spend these communication dollars.- $392,000
  • NASA at Comic-Con. To idiotic to even discuss.- $10,000
  • NASA Study Predicting the Collapse of Human Civilization. Seems like a very small sum to study the collapse of the entire human civilization, I mean we are talking the collapse involving over 7 billion humans. - $30,000
  • NASA's Loss of Electronic Devices. A report from NASA's inspector general said that NASA did not have a "complete and accurate inventory of agency-issued smartphones, tablets, cellphones, and Aircards." Apparently 14% of NASA’s electronic devices went unused for seven months from 2013-2014. Estimated cost of unused and lost devices: $97,000 per month. - $1.1 million
As we have said many times this past week, millions of Americans are hungry and homeless, millions are unemployed, millions are saddled with various addictions, and the Federal government spend millions of dollars on launch pads that will never be used, aliens that will never be met, and attending Comic-Con. Insane.
4) The wonderful website, Bankrupting America, had some great Halloween political class insanity this past week:
  • The Washington Times recently reported that every year, Federal, state and local governments spend millions of dollars of taxpayer wealth on pumpkin patches and fall festivals; “Most of the festivals and events financed by state and local tax dollars this time of year focus on pumpkins, and many of those pumpkins are grown with the assistance of pricey farm subsidies courtesy of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.”
  • From 1995-2012, More Than $2 Million Was Spent Subsidizing Pumpkin Farmers: “From 1995 to 2012, farm subsidies to American pumpkin growers came to more than $2 million, according to USDA figures compiled by the Environmental Working Group. Up until 2010, Federal pumpkin subsidies averaged about $75,000 a year. In 2011 and 2012, the two most recent years for which numbers were available, taxpayer handouts spiked to an average of $420,000 a year.”
  • West Virginia Lawmakers Spent $75,000 To Support 21 Pumpkin Parties And Fall Festivals. According to The Washington Times: “In total, Mountain State lawmakers devoted nearly $75,000 to support 21 pumpkin parties and fall festivals. Much of that money came from state lottery funds intended to help the beleaguered state send more of its students to college and draw more businesses and jobs to West Virginia.”
  • West Virginia Spent $13,000 Subsidizing Just One Of Those Festivals: “West Virginians may be one of happiest states to hear that some pumpkins were salvaged from the storms. The state’s legislators earmarked $13,000 in West Virginia’s budget for this year’s edition of the West Virginia Pumpkin Festival, including a $5,000 payout for advertising from the state tourism commission and another $8,200 subsidy to help cover general expenses.”
  • Vermont Residents Subsidized Their Fall Fest Using State Lotto Money. The Washington Times reported: “The Burlington Pumpkin Harvest Festival received $4,100 in state lottery money. The state budget awarded $4,125 to the Frankford Autumnfest and $2,200 to Princeton’s Autumnfest. Not to be outdone, the Wetzel County Autumnfest snagged $4,500 in public funds.”
While these are relatively small amounts of taxpayer dollars wasted on pumpkins, just because you can waste a smaller amount of taxpayer wealth on stupid programs does not mean that you should.
That will definitely do it for the political class insanity this month. Sending money to cotton farmers in Brazil, sending White House staff to prostitutes in Columbia, sending taxpayer wealth up in smoke at NASA, and funding pumpkins, there is no limts to the ways Washington, and other American politicians, can waste our wealth and embarrass themselves and the rest of the country in the eyes of the world.

August, 2014 Political Class Insanity, Part 4: Biden Jets Off For A $2 Million Soccer Game, Gallup Says No Confidence But Lots Of Corruption, and More

This is our fourth and not likely last update to our monthly series on political class insanity. Our current set of politicians continue to amaze us with their greed, inability to operate an efficient and effective government, their economic ignorance, their lack of problem solving ability, wasteful spending and generally uselessness. They are so bad at so many things it makes you wonder how we continually trust them and continually reelect them, something, somewhere in our election processes has to be broken.

Don’t believe me? Let’s see what you think after reading today’s dose of insanity:

1) Economic ignorance is a specialty of this current set of politicians. They spent over $800 billion on a so-called economic stimulus package a few years ago. They gave trillions of taxpayer dollars to banks and car companies in an effort to stimulate the economy and create a healthy job creation process.

What did we get for these trillions and trillions of dollars? Consider the following graph:

Corporations got rich off of our tax dollars. Those with large stock holdings got rich off of our tax dollars. The tens of millions of Americans who are currently under employed or unemployed?

Hardly anything, if you consider the fact from this graph that the percentage of employed adults in the country is at the lowest levels in at least thirty years, despite the trillions of dollar spent. Pathetic economic performance, all focused on the most likely contributors to politicians’ elections campaigns, wealthy Americans and corporations.

2) Things are economically rough for many, many Americans. Unemployment in general and long term unemployment remain stubbornly high. More and more jobs are devolving to part time work as a result of Obama care and other government missteps.

But at least one American is recently had a good time at taxpayer expense despite general taxpayer suffering. Vice President Joe Biden recently jetted down to Brazil for two days to watch some World Cup soccer games. Biden, whom Obama appointed to head the Campaign to Cut Waste to root out wasteful government spending last summer racked up a taxpayer tab of $2,245,343, spread over all four hotels. For his one night stand. Over $2 million for the VP to watch a soccer game or two. Insulting to all of those that are paying a heavy tax burden or who cannot find a decent job.

But this should not come as an unexpected expense relative to how freely Biden spends taxpayer money in other ways, according to a recent article in the Independent Journal Review:
  • Every weekend Biden gets a lift from D.C. to his home in Wilmington, Delaware, via Air Force Two, the V.P.’s airplane, and Marine Two, the V.P.’s helicopter.
  • And he often gets a mid-weekend lift back to the Andrews Air Force Base for a round of golf with the President.
  • Estimating $22,000 an hour cost for the airtime, that works out to about $1 million per year in Biden’s commuting costs between D.C. and Wilmington.
  • That cost excludes the cost of the 20 condominiums that the Secret Service rents in Wilmington nor the cost of Air Force Two sitting and waiting for him while he plays 18 holes of golf.
So out of touch with those that support his golf and travel habits.

3) Given that it is pretty obvious that most, if not all, Washington politicians have no idea how an economy works or how to put forth sound economic policies to make that economy grow, one would have hoped that those over at the Federal Reserve Board would have a good grasp on what makes an economy tick and how to keep it tuned and humming.

You would hope but you would be wrong. In recent Congressional testimony, Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen testified that she was not isn't sure what's gone wrong with the U.S. housing comeback: "I have to say that I'm somewhat surprised. Frankly, it continues to be sluggish. And I can't give you a precise reason why that's occurred."

To prove her point, the day after her testimony, Federal agencies reported that the number of new houses under construction came in well below expectations in June, at 893,000 rather than the expected million-plus, level that would have represented gradual improvement in the housing market.

So, the Obama administration has no clue on how the economy works or falters, Congress has no clue on how the economy works or falters, and at least for a major, major piece of the economy, housing, the head of the most powerful central bank in the history of mankind has no idea how that market is functioning. What did rock musician Steve Miller once sing: "Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right…” Sounds about right for the abysmal level of economic sense in all facets of Washington, D.C.

4) But the Washington political class is not just bad on economics, if you believe some recent Gallup polling regarding corruption and dishonesty in the Washington political class:

An amazing chart:
  • Almost four out of five Americans believe corruption is widespread throughout the government in the U.S.
  • This level of perceived corruption is up 13 points or almost 20% (from 66% to 70%) since Obama came into office.
  • It is up 20 points or about 34% in just seven years.
  • Given the high perception of corruption, I have to think that across the political spectrum, Republicans to Democrats to Independents, the majority of Americans within those sub groups agree that government and the politicians who operate it are corrupt.
These results are bad enough but not only do we think that the political class is operating a corrupt government, we have very little confidence in their effectiveness to govern, according another recent Gallup poll:

This lack of confidence has cratered since Obama came into office but has been on a general downward trend since the early 1970s. Corrupt and ineffective, a lethal combination.

That will do it for today. Let’s review:
  1. Despite spending trillions of dollars, the Washington political class has been unable to put forth a coherent and effective economic strategy to grow jobs for the millions of Americans looking for jobs.
  2. At least Joe Biden is having a good time in these harsh economic times by jetting down to Brazil to watch some soccer games at a cost of over $2 million of taxpayer wealth.
  3. Even the high powered and expensive bankers at the Federal reserve seem to have no clue on what is happening in a major economic segment in this country.
  4. As a result of all the Keystone Kop antics of Washington, we are left with the perception that our politicians are both corrupt and ineffective.
More insanity, waste, and other political class shenanigans tomorrow.

March, 2014: I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science, Part 2

On a regular basis we revisit an ongoing topic in this blog called “I am a global warming doubter and a believer in science.” This series is in rebuttal to people like Al Gore and President Obama and their incorrect and deception assertion that ALL scientists support the concept of man made global warming, or its rebranded theme of climate change.

The latest update on science and this topic was posted Friday and can be accessed at:

The first post in the previous series can be accessed at:

We were not able to finish our review and update yesterday so we needed today to prove again that it is more than possible to be a global warming doubter, a believer in science, and likely be right on both counts.

1) In 2008, Al Gore was interviewed by CBS’s Leslie Stahl on "60 Minutes" when he asserted, "I think those people [global warming doubters] are in such a tiny, tiny minority now with their point of view. They're almost like the ones who still believe that the moon landing was staged in a movie lot in Arizona and those who believe the world is flat." However, according to a Newsmax article that was published shortly after that interview:
  • Dr. Arthur Robinson of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, (OISM) announced the results of a petition drive asking scientists to sign a petition if they were global warming doubters
  • The petition read as follows: “We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto Japan in December 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limit on greenhouse gasses would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.”
  • The petition results again showed that Gore was either being deceptive or ignorant of reality since an amazing 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science, including 9,021 Ph.D.s, signed that petition that flatly denies Al Gore’s claims that human-caused global warming is a settled scientific fact.
  • This effort was consistent with a previous effort back in 2001 which involved another petition effort, an effort led by Dr. Frederick Seitz, past president of the National Academy of Sciences and of Rockefeller University.
  • That petition gathered an impressive 17,800 signatures of scientists who also indicated they were global warming doubters.
  • In both cases, 31,072 and 17,800 scientists’ signatures, could they be considered a “tiny, tiny minority.”
  • In most, if not all, of the cases I would bet that these scientists support the fact the we actually did go to the moon and believe that the world is not flat.
Somebody once said if you tell a lie often enough it eventually becomes the perceived truth. Al Gore keeps telling this lie but almost 50,000 instances of scientists opposing his lie and deception should be enough to keep it from becoming the perceived truth. As Dr. Robinson explained in the Newsmax article, OISM’s petition project was to show the assertion of “settled science” and an overwhelming “consensus” in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is just plain wrong.

2) Friday, we reviewed, and somewhat mocked an Al Gore assertion from five years ago when he boldly predicted that within five years or so the North Pole could be completely melted. That prediction could not have been any further from the truth since the average temperatures around the world have not increased since that prediction and the North Pole ice cap has actually been growing over the past few years, not disappearing.

Let’s look at a few other Al Gore quotes through the years:

- “The planet has a fever. If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor. If the doctor says you need to intervene here, you don’t say, ‘Well, I read a science fiction novel that told me it’s not a problem.’ If the crib’s on fire, you don’t speculate that the baby is flame retardant. You take action.”

Comment: according to real measurements of temperatures, the fever broke, assuming there was a fever, about sixreen years ago when the earth’s surface temperatures stopped rising, contrary to what EVERY global warming forecast said it would be doing.

- “Here is the truth: The Earth is round; Saddam Hussein did not attack us on 9/11; Elvis is dead; Obama was born in the United States; and the climate crisis is real.”

Comment: About 50,000 scientists that signed the two petitions discussed above would differ from this assertion of the climate crisis being real.

- “The interior of the earth is extremely hot – several million degrees.”

Comment: Mr. Gore needs to do a little bit of simple research in order to not let his credibility take another hit, especially on something that is easily tested. Every source I checked estimate that the center of the earth is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Thus, how can we trust what he says about global warming if he exaggerates on this simple scientific fact?

- “Many scientists are now warning that we are moving closer to several “tipping points” that could — within as little as 10 years — make it impossible for us to avoid irretrievable damage to the planet’s habitability for human civilization.”

Comment: Note how he said many scientists, not all scientists? Maybe he is starting to doubt himself a little also. Anyway, since he said those remarks at NYU’s law school in 2006 the ice caps have gotten larger and the temperatures have stopped rising so those tipping points may have to be recalculated.

He has said a lot of other stuff but let’s cut it here. His predictions have been wrong so many times that his credibility is in a shambles. A million degrees at the center of the earth, really.

3) Okay, let’s let a few other folks take over this discussion. The following link is to a 12 minute cartoon that lays out many of the logical conclusions, based on scientific data, of global warming doubters. It is done in a fun, informative way with a few mild swear words but it is chock full of scientific rebuttals to people like Al Gore:

4) If you liked the logic and sensibility of that video, check out this one. It basically has an off camera narrator going through a logical progression of reasons and rationality of why there is merit, indeed virtue, being a global warming doubter based on scientific fact and reality:

That should do it for now in our continuing series of showing there is true scientific merit in being a global warming doubter, regardless of what the likes of Al Gore say. The bottom line is that maybe man made global warming is a reality. If so, we should all work together to find a solution that minimizes the impact to the environment AND the economic well being of Americans.

In fact, we have already proposed such a solution, a solution that would accomplish both of these objective regardless of whether or not global warming is a myth or a reality. That plan can be accessed at:

However, two things will stop this rational and sane approach to problem solving to ever take hold:

1) People like Al Gore and others continue to insult the intelligence and humanity of global warming doubters. Gore has likened people like us to racists, homophobes, conspiracy theory nuts, and a host of other insults and unflattering names. President Obama has called global warming doubters believers in the earth being flat. It makes it difficult to have a give and take, adult conversation when one side continues to yell, scream, and hurl insults at the other side. They are the ones that are intolerant and close minded, they are the ones that are preventing an adult conversation on the possibility of global warming.

2) If global warming is a reality, there is nothing the United States can do that would matter in the whole picture unless the rest of the world, notably China, India, Brazil, and other fast growing and carbon spewing economies also follow suit. As an example of what we are talking about, consider:
  • A January, 2014 article by Bloomberg reviewed a recent study that found Chinese pollution contributes to pollution in California, Oregon and Washington. China's nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide gases contribute to at least one extra day of smog per year in Los Angeles, and the Chinese pollution reaching the West Coast exceeds Federal ozone standards. Thus, Chinese manufacturing and minimal pollution controls are already negatively affecting the U.S. and the environment, a situation that would have to be resolved for any domestic global warming steps to be effective.
  • The Week magazine reported on August 30, 2013 that Ecuador has given up on trying to protect the Amazon from oil drilling after having failed to do so over the past six years. More oil drilling, larger carbon footprint, moslty for the Chinese economy.
  • In that same issue, another article pointed out Brazil will now devote all of its oil royalties to education and health care going forward. Thus, it is difficult to believe they will cut back on their oil drilling if it negatively affects education and health care in that country.
However, given that the rest of the world has little respect for this Presidential administration, the chances of Obama leading the world forward in a united global warming crusade is next to nothing.

That will do it for now but we will revisit the issue going forward where I am sure there will be more science showing that global warming is quite possibly a myth and Al Gore will keep insulting those of us that are global warming doubters but believers in science.

Wishing Al Gore Would Shut Up, Why I Am A Global Warming Doubter, Part 2 - Problem Solving 101

Yesterday, we reviewed the classless act, in light of the current suffering of victims of Hurricane Sandy, and what we classified as “garbage science” of Al Gore with regards to the theory of man made global warming. We noted how we had previously discussed the scientific potential of the falsehood of man made global warming in the following two posts:

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2012/10/i-am-global-warming-doubter-and.html

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2012/02/i-am-global-warming-doubter-and.htm

We also reviewed a simple to understand and simple to execute plan that would address the problem independent of whether or not man made global warming is a reality:

http://www.loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2012/02/united-states-of-purple-presidency_09.html

This solution would solve many real problems and address the potential problem of man made global warming in such a way that was market driven, was fair, kept any additional wealth out of the hands of our politicians, and did not need a huge government bureaucracy that would likely be inefficient and ineffective, like every other government bureaucracy.

Given that setup and background, today’s topic is to review what an adult conversation and problem solving process might look like relative to man made global warming. It is a conversation that people like Al Gore refuse to have, relying instead on only one set of scientific investigations and calling those not on his side a serious of insulting and frankly, slanderous names.

Problem solving does not have to be complicated. This exercise will consist of a simple set of yes/no answers to get to the root cause and root solution of the problem. How might that process flow:

A) Is there a global warming trend underway? The latest data from temperature monitoring locations around the world show that the earth’s temperature has been unchanged for the past 16 years. Thus, one could make the case that global warming is a fallacy and that would end the discussion.

B) But let’s assume that other analyses indicate there is global warming. Then the next question becomes whether or not the global warming is caused by mankind’s activities. If we believe the folks at the world famous CERN scientific organization in Europe, an organization with impeccable scientific credentials, who have shown that global warming, while occurring, is not the result of mankind activities but solar activity, then the discussion would end. This is because no matter what we do it will not impact global warming since mankind is not causing it.

C) But let’s assume that the unchanged global temperature results are wrong and that CERN screwed up somehow, what if there is global warming going on and mankind’s activities are contributing to it. Then the next logical question: are we too late to stop the process?

If we cannot stop the global warming process, then we need to start activities that protects resources, food production processes, vulnerable coastlines, etc. since trying to reverse unstoppable global warming will divert wealth, resources, and attention away from the fortification process.

4) But let’s say our analyses show that we can stop mankind’s contribution to global warming. How would we stop the process.

Putting a massive, bureaucratic, inefficient, and ineffective cap and trade process in place in the U.S. would be an abject failure. Why? Consider some reality and documented facts from Step 25 of “Love My Country, Loathe My Government:”

  • When “Love My Country, Loathe My Government” was published in 2009, China and India were expected to bring at least EIGHT HUNDRED coal power plants by 2012 to handle their growing populations and economies. As most global warming advocates will tell you, coal burning plants are major contributors to global warming
  • Although I do not know this as a fact, I would assume that pollution control was not a major consideration in bringing so many coal plants on line so quickly.
  • Just these new power plants are expected to burn NINE HUNDRED MILLION tons of coal every year. Obviously, their existing coal fired plants would add more.
  • Just these additional power plants will dump and additional 2.5 BILLION tons of global warming gases into the atmosphere ever year.
  • These numbers do not include the additional coal plants brought on line by other growing economies like Brazil.
  • Since the book and these statistics were published, China’s annual industrial output of global warming gases has surpassed the output of the United States.

Thus, it would make no sense to put severe limits on United States global warming activity via some monstrosity like cap and trade. Such limits would increase living costs of Americans, restrict our global competitive economic position, and reduce domestic economic growth for no reason since no matter how much we reduced our bad global warming behavior it would make no difference in light of what China and the rest of the world is doing.
In addition, there is no way our current Federal government entities and the politicians who operate them could even execute a half decent cap and trade program.

What would be needed at this point is a worldwide effort to have EVERYONE curb their global warming activities to keep the economic playing field level. Thus, if we got this far down our decision and problem solving process, Obama and Gore should not be badgering the U.S. economy and its businesses and citizens, they should be overseas getting the entire world involved. That's called leadership, a trait that has grown extinct in our current political class.

This is the discussion and problem solving approach that needs to happen if we are to ever get out of the rut of name calling and inaction, a game that Al Gore propagates. Mr. Gore immediately jumps to Step D without considering all of the scientific data and findings available, without considering the fact there are other causes of global warming, without considering whether we are too late to stop the process if it exists, and looks only domestically while this is a worldwide situation that requires a worldwide solution in order to not burden U.S. citizens in a hopeless cause.

If there is no clear resolution to any of the discussion points and conclusions discussed above, we can still revert to the solution outlined in:

http://www.loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2012/02/united-states-of-purple-presidency_09.html

As always with our political discussions relative to the issues of our times, emotion and irrationality prevails over problem solving techniques. And Al Gore is the leader of the irrationality wing.
