April, 2020, Part 2, Political Class Insanity: Biden Is Still Clueless, The Mayor of Chicago Is Both Vain and Dangerous, and Pelosi's Priorities Are Still Repugnant

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) Over the past few months we have many times pointed out the stupid, inane, and sad things that Joe Biden has said on the campaign trail. He wants to be President of the United States and yet he forgets facts, he makes up facts, he forgets where he is, he makes up false histories, etc.

It is very sad on two counts: first, he certainly appears to be having some serious cognitive problems and to prop him up and parade him around with these problems getting worse and worse is a form of elder abuse. Second, there is no way, given his recent incoherent and often antagonistic behavior, that he is fit or capable of being President.

Three of his better insane comments from recent appearances:
  • In South Carolina Biden claimed that he had personally negotiated the Paris Climate Agreement with Chinese Premier Deng Xiaoping.
  • Unfortunately, Deng had been dead for 23 years when the Paris Climate Agreement came about.
  • Specifically, “I’m the guy that came back after meeting with Deng Xiaoping and making the case that I believe China would join if we put pressure on them.”
  • At the same gathering, Biden put forth the following statement regarding gun control: “Who in God’s name needs a hundred rounds in a bullet, in a clip, with a gun you have?”
  • I have no idea what that means as does every other human being.
  • But he wasn’t done with his incoherence: “Where I come from, you don’t get far unless you ask. My name’s Joe Biden. I’m a Democratic candidate for the United States Senate. Look me over. If you like what you see, help out. If not, vote for the other Biden.”
  • Again, huh? He is running for the Presidency not the Senate and who is the “other” Biden?
Scary that this person has gotten this close to actually being a candidate for President.

2) We have often pointed out how societal norms and laws seem to be requirements for most of us but merely suggestions for the American politician. We all go to jail for insider trading but as we have pointed out over the years, American politicians get rich off of insider trading with the knowledge of secret government information but never go to jail. Recently, New York Mayor de Blasio decided that it was okay for him to go to the gym in the midst of the coronavirus crisis even though his administration had cut off gym access for every one of his constituents.

And this privilege gene was again on display recently in Chicago:
  • Despite having placed a “safer at home” edict on the Chicago city residents, the mayor decided that she really needed to look her best for the news cameras.
  • Thus, even though her orders had shut down beauty parlors across Chicago for ordinary folks, she exempted herself from her own order to go to a beauty parlor and get her hair cut.
  • Even worse, pictures that arose out of her violation of the safer at home order showed that no masks were used to minimize the chance of infection of herself and those with her when she got a haircut.
  • She tried to justify her actions and really just dug a deeper hole for herself: “I’m in the public every day. And candidly, my hair was not looking the way it did. I thought maybe I’d do it myself, but I knew that would be disaster.”
  • In other words, I should look good but the hell with the rest of you.
  • She then, like a good politician, tried to change the topic: “But I think what really people want to talk about is, we’re talking about people dying here. We’re talking about significant health disparities. I think that’s what people care most about.”
This is a prime example of what true leadership DOES NOT look like. Pompous condescending, arrogant, and insulting, those words do not begin to capture the hypocrisy that is the American political class.

3) We have touched on this subject before but let’s revisit it again with more data. Nancy Pelosi showed her disregard and basic non-caring attitude regarding Americans suffering from the coronavirus crisis by holding up and then holding hostage the economic stimulus legislation that was so badly needed to support American families and business.

Rather than put together a clean bill with no frills and wasteful spending in order to get the stimulus going as fast as possible, she roadblocked the legislation until she got her wasteful and useless priorities in the bill. Priorities that had nothing to do with the healthcare and economic crises facing Americans.

It is now coming out what BS went into and what delayed the aid to Americans in need:
  • $10.8 billion for African agencies, agencies that have nothing to do with Americans in need.
  • $25 million for the Kennedy Center in Washington DC so that Washington politicians could still go to the opera and plays even though the board of directors of the Center consists of very rich people that could have easily coughed up the $25 million for a priority that had nothing to do with Americans in need. [Note: despite getting $25 million in free taxpayer money the Center still fired all of its employees making the job situation in America even worse.]
  • Sunscreen manufacturers are mentioned 49 times in the legislation and also got a boatload of money which had nothing to do with Americans in need.
  • Pelosi made sure that she and her House of Representative friends got something out of the bill with an additional $25 million going to them for salaries and other expenses.
  • The Post Office also got bailout money because they cannot run a profitable delivery business like UPS and FedEx does, a bailout that has nothing to do with Americans in need.
I am sure there are dozens if not hundreds of other things that Pelosi forced into the legislation, holding it hostage and delaying relief to millions of Americans. Her priorities and attitude are despicable, repugnant, and evil.

So, in summary: Biden is clueless, the mayor of Chicago is vain and a danger to others, and Pelosi is, as we just said, despicable, repugnant, and evil. Insanity all around.

March, 2020, Part 3, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: Trump Delivers Reduced Carbon Footprint and Democrats Feast on Demon Beef

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in man made global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have waded through the whole issue of man made global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:
  • Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
  • Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
  • Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control on our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.
To see the past posts and the multitude of evidence that we have compiled that showed it is perfectly okay to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, enter the phrase "global warming doubter” in the search box above or go through the monthly historical post listed on the right side of this page.

Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaims.

1) When Trump pulled the United States out of the ill fated and horrible Paris Climate Agreement several years ago, liberals and global warming advocates were besides themselves. They hated him from pulling out of an agreement that was never ratified by the Senate as required by the Constitution and which was horrible biased and costly against the United States. But the advocates acted like Trump had condemned the entire human race to death by global warming.

But according to a February 12, 2020 article on the Daily Wire website by Ryan Saavedra, their fears and forecast of doom, as always, failed to become reality. In fact:
  • In 2019, the United States reduced its carbon footprint/CO2 emissions by more than any other country in the world.
  • And unlike what would have happened if we had stayed in the Paris agreement, this reduction in emission was done while experiencing solid economic growth.
  • According to the International Energy Agency (IEA): “The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis – a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt. US emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period.”
  • The use of coal in this country was down 15%, a big goal of the failed Paris agreement.
  • But despite the use of less coal, the cost of natural gas for energy also went down to the economic benefit of every American.
  • As we have said many times in this blog, it does not matter what the United States does from a carbon footprint perspective unless the world gets China and India to seriously decrease their ever rising use of coal.
  • This point was driven home again by the International Energy Agency which found that 80% of the increase in carbon came from Asia, mostly China and India: “Emissions grew strongly in Southeast Asia, lifted by robust coal demand.”
So, Trump pulls us out of the unfavorable conditions imposed on the United States by the Paris Climate Agreement and the global advocates of the world predict gloom and doom. Instead, the United States leads the world in total carbon emissions reductions, the cost of energy goes down, and economic conditions improve steadily, the exact opposite of what the advocates predicted.

And the reality continues that unless India and China get on board and do what the U.S.has done with its carbon footprint and substantially clean up its behavior and reduce its coal usage, the air and the climate will not get much better despite the United States stellar climate change behavior.

2) One constant culprit that liberals, Democrats, and global warming advocates love to attack is cows and the beef they provide. California has gone so far as to regulate what cows eat in order to clean up their farts, i.e. reduce the amount of methane that comes out of the rear ends of cows. Yes, cows are guilty of causing global warming and climate change.

But the hypocrisy of such advocacy was certainly on parade recently at a Democratic political rally:
  • A few months back, the Democratic Party was in full blown hysteria trying to figure out who their 2020 Presidential candidate should be.
  • At that time, the candidates and their campaigns were in Iowa trying to win the Iowa Democratic caucuses and be the early leader in the Presidential race.
  • The Polk County (Iowa) Democratic party hosted a Steak Fry in which they cooked over 10,000 pieces of beef for the event.
  • This was the menu despite weeks and weeks of lead up to the caucuses where every Democrat running for President lamented about the gloom and doom of man made climate change, of which beef production and cow farts have always been a part of the Democrats and liberals hatred.
  • Many of the candidates had actually come out and stated they wanted to limit and cut down on beef consumption in this country because of their fallacy that it was messing up the climate.
  • But despite their fear mongering, they were fed about 10,500 steaks but only 1,000 vegan burgers.
The hypocrisy is overwhelming: do as I say not as I do….or in this case, what I eat.

So Trump delivers great news about reducing our carbon footprint despite the gloom and doom from people like Al Gore. But people like Al Gore scarf down some big chunks of beef, the very culprit they accuse of causing climate change. What a crazy and hypocritical world we live in.

The Horrors And Destruction That Donald Trump Has Imposed On America...Just Kidding! A Two Year Review Of The Trump Administration

Before we start today’s discussion, let’s review my voting history:
  • I have never voted for a Republican for President in my life.
  • Thus, I did not vote for Trump.
  • I have rarely voted for a Republican for national office in my life.
About 2 years ago, many liberals, Democrats, and millennials were besides themselves with grief and fear because their pre-ordained queen, Hillary Clinton, was not elected President. Instead, Donald Trump was elected, an individual that these same people despised, hated, and feared, an individual they felt would endanger and possibly destroy the country and our democracy. For the past year and a half they fretted, worried and lashed out at anything or anyone that even remotely smelled of Donald Trump.

Given that Trump has been in office for almost two years, I thought, that as someone who did not vote for him, it would be a good idea to review the horror, trauma, and terrible things that Trump has subjected the country to in just eighteen month’s time. This is obviously a very sarcastic comment when you take an unbiased look at what has happened during the Trump Presidency.

The many previous posts we did on this topic identified over 200 good things that have happened to America and Americans since Trump became President and they can found by entering the phrase “the horrors and destruction” in the search box above.

Given we are coming up on Trump’s second year in office, I thought it would be a good idea to list out some of his many accomplishments that we have already listed in the previous 20 posts on the topic. As the previous paragraph points out, we have already named over 200 ways that American is better off today than it was two years ago when he took office. So in no particular order, consider the following improvements that have occurred in America under the Trump administration:
  1. The national unemployment rate has been running below 4% for most of the past two years, an 18 year low, with the unemployment rate incredibly below 2% in some areas of the country, an indication of a very strong economy.
  2. The unemployment rate for African-Americans is at or near the lowest level ever.
  3. Trump’s approval rating among African-Americans has doubled in the past two years.
  4. African American median income is at the highest level ever.
  5. The unemployment rate for Hispanic-Americans is at or near the lowest level ever.
  6. The unemployment rate for veterans is at the lowest level in 18 years.
  7. The unemployment level for disabled Americans is also at a record low level.
  8. Those older than 24 years old without a high school diploma have an unemployment rate of 5.4%, close to the lowest level ever.
  9. Trump’s approval rating among Hispanic-Americans has surged in the past two years.
  10. At the end of 2018, 156,945,000 Americans were employed, an all time high.
  11. Over four million jobs have been added to the economy since Trump was sworn in.
  12. Steel production in the U.S. is at its highest level since 2007.
  13. The unemployment rate for women is at or near the lowest level ever.
  14. Weekly unemployment benefit filings have decreased steadily over the past two years, recently hitting a 45 year low.
  15. Wages gains have been steady over the past two years after being stagnant or negative for most of the Obama administration.
  16. There are about a million more open jobs available across the country than there are unemployed Americans looking for jobs, a rare occurrence over history.
  17. Manufacturing job opportunities across the country are at their highest levels since 2000.
  18. Trump signed into law a major, and positive, criminal justice reform law that will cut back and soften the draconian criminal sentencing law enacted under Bill Clinton, a draconian law that unfairly targeted African-Americans over the past few decades.
  19. Trump and his daughter, Ivanka, advocated and got Congress to pass the WEEE legislation, the Women’s Entrepreneurship & Economic Empowerment Act, a law that promotes and focuses U.S. foreign aid on programs that support women and women-owned business.
  20. Food stamp enrollment levels have dropped by about 3.5 million people over the past year, with 47 out of 50 states reporting fewer food stamp residents this year than last year, due to the booming Trump economy and reforms that Trump has initiated to weed out recipients that do not deserve to be on the program.
  21. According to recent Rasmussen polling, Trump’s current approval rate is up to 48%, two percentage points higher than what Obama’s was at the same point in time in their respective Presidencies.
  22. Due to the Trump tax cuts, millions of Americans received one time substantial bonus from their companies who saw their Federal tax bill decrease.
  23. Due to the Trump tax cuts, U.S. companies have brought back $300 billion back to this country from overseas.
  24. Due to the Trump tax cuts, over one hundred million American taxpayers will pay less in Federal income taxes going forward.
  25. Due to the Trump tax cuts, over one hundred utility companies have slashed their electricity rates.
  26. Due to the Trump tax cuts, millions of Americans saw a rise in their hourly wage rate from their companies who saw their Federal tax bill decrease.
  27. Due to the Trump tax cuts, thousands of companies have invested their tax savings into growing their businesses, increasing job and economic opportunities across the country.
  28. Due to the Trump tax cuts, businesses have increased their charitable donations due to the decrease in their Federal tax bill.
  29. Contributions to charities hit an all time high in 2017, exceeding $400 billion for the first time ever, possibly due to Americans having more money in their pockets because of the Trump tax cuts.
  30. Trump eliminated about 1,500 unnecessary government regulations to spur investment and business growth and save the economy an estimated $89 billion in excessive regulation costs.
  31. The U.S. national carbon footprint has decreased substantially over the past few years while most other nations, especially China and India, have seen their carbon footprint increase.
  32. Trump withdrew us from the horrible Paris Climate Agreement which would have crippled the American economy and allowed other nations such as China to increase their carbon footprint unabated for at least the next decade.
  33. Trump withdrew us from Obama’s Iran Nuclear Weapons agreement, an agreement that rewarded Iran with relaxed sanctions and billions in physical cash while Iran did nothing to improve the lot of its people or reduce its terrorism efforts around the world.
  34. Trump made the most in roads of any President ever with North Korea in a continuing attempt to rein its nuclear program and while already reuniting the remains of Korean War U.S. soldiers missing in action with their families.
  35. Trump has begun to withdraw U.S. troops out of Syria, a hell hole on Earth that should not be part of any American military effort and which is hopefully a precursor to getting all U.S. troops out of the Middle East.
  36. Trump forced many NATO nations to finally fulfill their treaty requirements by increasing their defense budgets to be in line with their legal requirements.
  37. Trump moved the U.S. Israel embassy to Jerusalem, indicating strong support for Israel and a rebuttal to Islamic terrorists such as Hamas.
  38. Trump signed legislation to clean up the sea of floating plastic off the west coast while at the same promising to prod China and Japan to clean up their recycling efforts, pitiful current efforts which are the main cause of the floating mass of plastic in the Pacific Ocean.
  39. Trump has signed, new, better trade deals for America and American workers with Mexico, Canada, and the European Union.
  40. Trump is in serious negotiations with China to fix the broken trade imbalance with that country, already getting China to import American rice farmer crops for the first time ever.
  41. After increasing during the last two years of the Obama administration, the national murder rate is trending downwards during the early part of the Trump administration.
  42. The number of police officers killed in the line of duty in Trump’s first year fell to the second lowest level in at least 50 years.
  43. Trump signed legislation that eliminated the oppressive and tyrannical Obama Care requirement that all Americans MUST purchase health insurance if they did not want it, could not afford it, or did not need it.
  44. Trump signed the Right To Act legislation that allows over a million Americans to more easily try experimental drugs if other methods of treatment have not cured their dangerous afflictions.
  45. Trump reversed a silly Obama administration requirement that banned people from joining organizational health plans and negotiating for cheaper health insurance rates from insurance companies.
  46. Trump issued regulations that helped fast track generic drug approvals to more quickly get drugs into the market to help ailing Americans.
  47. The Trump administration will start a program to help states care for pregnant women who are using opioids and for their babies who are born dependent on the drugs, the Maternal Opioid Misuse program, or the "M-O-M model."
  48. Trump was able to get $6 billion money dedicated to fight the opioid epidemic in the country.
  49. The Trump administration has for for intent and purposes killed the Common Core education effort, a program that has cost so much money and done so much harm to education in this country.
  50. Christmas season retail sales were up a very robust 5.1% vs 2017 and online seasonal sales were up 26.4%, another great economic feat under Trump.
  51. Consumer, business, and general confidence in the country and the economy by any measurement is soaring under the Trump administration and its actions.
  52. Most major stock market indices are up over 20% since Trump took office.
Okay, let’s stop the list here, you get the idea. The previous posts under this topic found over 200 successes and good things since Trump took office. Higher wages, better job opportunities, higher economic growth, better approaches to health and drug addiction, stronger actions and respect in foreign affairs, reductions in government bureaucracy, hardly the disaster that liberals, Democrats, and Hillary Clinton predicted.

For those of you that have hated on Trump since day one, and given your obvious gross error in judgment relative to Trump given the well 200 accomplishments we have previously listed, let me ask that you to do us all a favor by implementing the following changes in your behavior and attitude:
  • Chill out, tamp down your TDS affliction. No matter how much you hate Trump on a sexist, personal basis, get over it. He is the legally and duly elected President, he will be around for a while so refocus your hatred on more constructive issues and matters. You will live a lot longer if you take your hatred out of your heart and soul and devote it to something positive.
  • I would really appreciate it if some of you would apologize to the Trump voters you have disrespected in some of the grossest terms possible over the past year. You have called millions of voters racists, ignorant, stupid, Nazis, KKK members, and other horrible names simply because you disagreed with their voting choice. No American should be called such disgusting names simply because they exercised their Constitutional rights to the best of their abilities. Plus, slandering over 60 million Americans is no way to unite the country and get it focused on the real issues facing us all.
  • More personally, I would like, no I am demanding, an apology from some of you for your slanderous and disgusting name calling because in doing so, you insulted and disrespected my sister, my family members, my friends, and my co-workers who simply voted their conscience. I will defend their right to vote anyway they wanted and will no put up with your childish and vicious venom and bile directed at them, very important people in my life.
  • And finally, I challenge you to read the following blog post, a post that shows quite clearly that it was hateful people like some of you and your silence during the Obama years that actually caused Trump to be elected. Thus, the people you hate for voting for Trump are actually looking back at you in the mirror:
https://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2016/03/how-american-liberals-and-washington.html

If you were silent in the dozens of instances listed in this post then you were responsible for the very thing you hate: a Trump Presidency. Or put another way, a so far successful and productive Trump Presidency. Over 200 accomplishments in two years is not too shabby despite many of you wanting both Trump and the country to fail.

October, 2018, Part 4, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: Who Needs Paris (And Its Climate Agreement) and Screwing The Poor In California

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in manmade global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of man made global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:

1) Just a couple of quickies today to wrap this month’s global warming discussion. We have previously discussed a few topics as they relate to the infamous United Nations Paris Climate Agreement:
  • Trump was right to pull the U.S. out of the agreement since we as nation would have made all of the sacrifices while the rest of the world would make minor, if any, energy sacrifices.
  • For instance, Pakistan’s pledge in the treaty was that they would reduce their carbon footprint an unspecified amount at an unspecified point in the future, hardly taking a bullet for the cause.
  • India and China, along with other countries, continue to build thousands and thousands of coal burning power plants that would have wiped out any carbon reductions that the U.S. would have incurred.
  • The agreement had no teeth in that there was no way to punish any country who did not meet their goals, it was more of a gentleman’s agreement.
  • And as we recently reported, only nine out of the dozens and dozens of countries who actually signed the agreement have actually met their assigned carbon reduction goals, only a few years out from the agreement.
Trump, of course, got brutalized for the decision even though it was best for the American taxpayer and our economy. So how is the U.S. doing even though it is no longer bound by the agreement? Have we allowed our carbon footprint to explode, endangering the future of every living thing on Earth?

Joseph Curl, writing for the Daily Wire website on October 28,2018, brings us up to date with the latest official statistics:
  • Despite a red hot economy which should have resulted in higher and higher carbon emission levels, according to the EPA after Trump’s first year in office, our country’s greenhouse emissions actually went down despite not being a part of the Paris Climate Agreement.
  • The EPA report found the U.S. carbon emissions went down 2.7% last year.
  • A lot of this decrease was because emissions from U.S. power plants went down an amazing 4.5%.
  • All of which makes Al Gore’s prediction/statement back in June 2017 sound so stupid today, another global warming prediction that apparently was also grossly wrong: "I think it [pulling out of the Paris agreement] was reckless. I think it was indefensible. It undermines America's standing in the world. It threatens the ability of humanity to solve the climate crisis in time."
  • Another, non-EPA report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, found that U.S. carbon emissions from major energy sources dropped to the lowest levels since 1993 in 2017.
  • Still another study from the June 2018 BP Statistical Review of Global Energy found that the U.S. led the world in reducing carbon emissions in 2017.
  • The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) estimates that the U.S. reduced its carbon emissions by 42 million tons in 2017, far ahead of the second leading reducer, which, believe it or not, was the Ukraine, at a 20 million ton reduction.
  • Canada, Spain, the European Union, and China, all of whom signed the Paris agreement, all saw their carbon emissions rise last year.
  • China saw its 2017 carbon emissions go up a whopping 120 million tons, three times the size of the emission reduction of the U.S.
  • The European Union increased its 2017 carbon emissions by about the same amount, 40 millions, that the U.S. reduced its carbon footprint in 2017.
So, Trump pulls the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement, and despite a red hot economy, the U.S. leads the world in reducing its carbon footprint. Many of those that actually signed the agreement actually added tremendous amounts of carbon emissions to the environment. Go figure, I guess Al Gore and global warming advocates were wrong AGAIN, when they predicted that exiting the Paris agreements would kill off humanity.

The Paris agreement was a joke, an ego trip for Obama to strut around with in his pocket. It has no enforcement teeth, it was vague and non-committal in many areas, and it allowed the fastest growing economies, e.g. India and China, to bring havoc from an emissions perspective while the U.S. and its taxpayers would have paid the price.

2) The Freedom News Report website had a recent article that shows how out of control global warming enthusiasm is bad both logically and financially relative to the less wealthy in the world:
  • The state government in California recently enacted legislation that would force the entire state to be carbon emission free by the year 2045 as it relates to its use of electricity.
  • In other words, all electricity generated in the state by that date would have to come from renewable resources, e.g. solar and wind.
  • The state’s governor, Jerry Brown, fancies himself a sovereign nation at least relative to the bogus Paris Climate Agreement we just finished discussing, claiming that his state was “sending a message to California and to the world that we’re going to meet the Paris agreement.”
  • Given that California residents currently pay, on average, 60% more for electricity, and this proposed transformation will further increase the state’s power costs, this plan/dream will not come cheaply.
  • For example, since renewable sources of power, solar and wind, are not constant and vary according to the current weather, massive amounts of storage would have to be set up to store non-renewable electricity generation for times when the wind was not blowing or the sun was not shining, further increasing the cost of the state’s electricity, the cost of which has been rising five times the national average over the past years.
  • Research by the Boston based Clean Air Task Force estimates that for California to reach just 80% of its energy from carbon free sources, somehow a whopping 9.6 terawatt hours worth of electrical storage would have to be put online.
  • With today’s technology, 9.6 terawatt hours of storage would require the purchase and installation of 500 million Tesla Powerwalls which currently cost $6,000….not including installation in order to constantly supply the state’s 40 million residents with uninterrupted electricity.
  • As an aside, one wonder where the state would actually place 500 million Powerwalls, that would take up a lot of real estate.
  • In today’s dollars, this comes out to a cost of $3 TRILLION or about $75,000 per resident (excluding installation costs).
  • Even if you could find a way over time to reduce this cost by say 80%, you are still looking at a per resident cost of $15,000, the burden of which would be paid by the state’s resident’s.
  • Thus, a California family of four would be on the hook for about $60,000 if the cost of this law’s impacts could be reduced by 80%, more than $60,000 if the cost did not come down that much.
  • At that point, I would bet that the wealthier residents would say screw that and would install their own solar and wind projects to generate the electricity they need for themselves, something they could do for far less than $75,000 per person, further burdening the less wealthy residents who cannot afford their own power installation.
  • Which is exactly is being anticipated by a coalition called “The Two Hundred,” a group of civic organizations who lobby for and try to protect the interests of less wealthy citizens.
  • This coalition realizes that the burden for this ambitious and ego driven plan will eventually fall to those in the state that can least afford higher and higher electricity rates, a situation that will get worse with this carbon free by 2045 law and thus, they have filed suit to stop this plan.
  • In the lawsuit, the group correctly claims that these types of policies “have a disparate negative impact on minority communities and are discriminatory against minority communities and their members.”
  • Furthermore, “Every time they pass new regulations, the burden falls on the people who can least afford it,” Two Hundred representative John Gamboa reportedly said. “That’s the history of the environmental movement: They care more about spotted owls than brown babies.”
  • The article points out that Germany’s effort to get to more renewable energy sources has seen the average cost of electricity go up 50% in the past ten years, a harbinger of what would happen under this new California law.
The U.S. is doing just fine, in fact better than anyone else, in reducing its carbon footprint even though it is not part of the Paris Climate Agreement. And California is screwing its lower income citizens just to chase what is becoming more and more likely, the global warming myth. More myth busting next month.

July, 2018, Part 1, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In A Science: Forecasts That Went Horribly Wrong and The Massive Failure Of Paris

As we have dove into the whole issue of manmade global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:

1) As a trained professional statistician, it comes natural to me to go back in time to see how well a forecast predicted reality. Given how good, or badly, your forecasts performed allows you to improve your forecasting skills and accuracy. According to a June 23, 2018 article by Shawn on the Fix This Nation website, that is exactly what some folks have been doing for the major climate forecasts of the past thirty years:
  • The Wall Street Journal had climatologists Patrick Michaels and Ryan Maue compare climate forecasts from thirty years ago to today’s actual results.
  • James Hansen of NASA back in 1988 started a lot of this climate change/global warming nonsense when he declared he found a “high degree of confidence” in the relationship between human-produced CO2 and the “greenhouse effect and observed warming” of the atmosphere.”
  • Most of Hansen’s predictions said that the Earth’s temperatures would increase steadily over the next thirty years as humans threw more and more CO2 into the atmosphere.
  • However, only his Scenario C was close to being true and that forecast said that the Earth’s temps would NOT increase substantially in the coming decades.
  • Forecast models developed by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on average forecasted twice as much warming than what actually happened as did other major “expert” forecasts.
  • Hansen also did forecasts that also lamely predicted that the number of hurricanes and tornadoes would increase as a result of CO2 that was going to be produced by mankind.
  • Of course, those forecasts were also epic failures with Michaels and Maue concluding that not only were Hansen’s forecasts wrong the reality was “the opposite may be true.”
  • Michaels and Maue also concluded that, “The list of what didn’t happen is long and tedious.
The forecast failures were “long and tedious,” the predictions never came close to being accurate over the test of time. And yet, many liberals like Al Gore and Obama still insist that man made global warming and climate change is reality. When everything you claimed would happen did not happen when do you let go of the fantasy?

2) We have often discussed the reality that the infamous Paris Climate Agreement was a disaster and that, fortunately, Trump pulled the U.S. out of the agreement. The only people that were going to have to make sacrifices were Americans, that the big and growing polluters (e.g., China, India) and others had no fat in the climate fire. Obama sold the U.S. down the road to satisfy his own ego.

Trump took some serious heat from both inside and outside of the country for correctly pulling us out of the agreement but Nicolas Loris and Bryan Cosby, writing for the Western Journalism website on June 2, 2018, updated everyone on how well, really how badly, other countries were doing relative to their meager commitments within the agreement, one year after Trump’s withdrawal:
  • Despite the claim of climate alarmists that coal is bad for the environment and climate change, worldwide coal usage actually went UP 1% in 2017 despite the effort of the Climate Agreement signees to reduce coal usage.
  • A lot of this coal usage increase was because Asian countries’ increase in coal fired electricity.
  • World wide there are 1,600 coal fired electricity generating plants under construction, plants that will burn enough coal to produce 840,000 megawatts of electricity.
  • If the Paris agreement was any good I doubt that it would allow for the use of 1,600 NEW coal fired power plants.
  • And it is not just China and India increasing their usage of coal, smaller countries like Turkey and Indonesia have also struggled to meet their Paris goals since they need the cheap and quick use of coal to meet their growing economy needs.
  • Pakistan signed onto the Paris agreement but that agreement is quite useless: “Given the future economic growth and associated growth in the energy sector, the peaking of emissions in Pakistan is expected to take place much beyond the year 2030. An exponential increase of (greenhouse gas) emissions for many decades is likely to occur before any decrease in emissions can be expected.”
  • But it is not just Pakistan who is contributing nothing to the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement: “Germany, a world leader on climate action, has failed to cut emissions and has actually seen emissions rise during the past two years. Germany may even have to buy its way out of a binding European Union agreement to lower emissions in the coming years.”
  • Brazil expects its emission to continue rising until at least 2030, Japan will continue increasing its use of coal since nuclear in that country has a bad rep, and Poland and South Korea also plan on using more coal going forward.
But all of this proves how bad the whole agreement process was from the beginning: although many countries are falling short of the commitments they made just a few short years ago there are no ramifications or penalties. Even infamous NASA scientist James Hansen, see above discussion, called the whole process “a fraud” in 2015, claiming that, “There is no action, just promises.”

Commitments already being missed, the widespread and increasing use of coal across the world, and no penalties for failure. Trump got this one right.

Still a good thing to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science. More to follow.

May, 2018: Why I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.”This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in manmade global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of manmade global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:

1) The Joe For America website recently did a review of all of the research and scientists that has come out that show that global warming never really existed or stopped long ago:
  • According to the author of the article, Scott Osborn on April 7, 2018, “Over the last few years, global warming has taken a strong hit as proof of serious data manipulation has surfaced, and now scientists are coming out of the closet everywhere showing true data that man-made climate change never even existed. Hundreds of scientists involved in a plethora of recent scientific papers are admitting that the scare about global warming is based on hysteria and false science.”
  • In 2018 alone, 46 peer reviewed research reports have been published to debunk the global warming theory.
  • During 2017, 150 graphs taken from 122 research papers were also published in peer reviewed publications which showed that current Earth temperatures are not unusual relative to history, i.e. they do not “fall outside the range of natural variability.”
  • The Global Warming Policy Forum explains that the contemporary warming of the 20th century “does not stand out in the 2500-year perspective” and is “of the same magnitude as the Roman Warm Period and the Medieval Climate Anomaly.”
  • Global warming is not an issue according to a number of research reports including McGowan et al., 2018, Northern Alaska (Hanna et al., 2018), the Tibetan Plateau (Li et al., 2018), South Korea (Song et al., 2018), Antarctica (Mikis, 2018), to cite just a few among dozens of others.
  • Global warming advocates often point to Greenland as being the leading indicator of worldwide global warming but a study by Mikkelsen et al., 2018 shows that Greenland temperatures going back over 150 years are lower now than they were in the 1930s.
  • In fact, another study, Westergaard-Nielsen et al., 2018, examined the most recent and detailed trends based on MODIS (2001–2015) and concluded that if there is any general trend for Greenland it is “mostly cooling”.
  • The article republishes some graphs of historical temperatures over many decades and the result is always the same: no big deal going on relative to global warming:
Al Gore LOST! 100's of Climate Scientists Now Admit Global Warming Never Existed
Al Gore LOST! 100's of Climate Scientists Now Admit Global Warming Never Existed

  • A study by Cerrone and Fusco, 2018 found a large increase in the south pole sea ice and that south pole cooling has been going on since the 1990s.
More reasons why it is perfectly sane to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science.

2) Libertarian journalist, John Stossel, writing for the Constitutional News Network website on march 20, 2018, pointed out the joke that the Paris Climate Agreement was:
  • As most know, Trump pulled the U.S. out of the agreement, that was never legally binding since Obama was too lazy to get Senate approval of the agreement as required by the Constitution, and correctly calling the agreement a “massive redistribution of United States wealth to other countries.”
  • Of course, people like Al Gore, Barack Obama, and other global warming advocates went crazy to see the country pull out of their supposedly Earth saving agreement.
  • But we know now, even admitted by people like Al Gore, that the agreement would not have done if anything to curtail global warming, assuming that it even exists.
  • Manhattan Institute senior fellow Oren Cass actually read the Paris accord and concluded it was so bad that it landed “somewhere between a farce and a fraud.”
  • He went to state that the to get the accord, “They stapled it together and held it up and said, ‘This is amazing!'”
  • And while Obama and John Kerry along with their cohorts in the mainstream press claimed that India and China, major greenhouse gas producers were also sacrificing, that was a big lie: “They [China and India] either pledged to do exactly what they were already going to do anyway, or pledged even less. China, for instance said, ‘we pledge to reach peak emission by about 2030.’ Well, the United States government had already done a study to guess when Chinese emissions would peak, and their guess was about 2030.”
  • Even more comical was Pakistan which promised that after it reached an undefined peak in the undefined future, it would then begin to reduce emissions and undefined amount.
  • According to Case, the U.S. as represented by Obama, was the only country that was serious about reducing this country’s greenhouse gas emissions (by 26%), killing off U.S. economy while the rest of the world committed to nothing and intended to do nothing.
Solving a problem that does not exist, way to go Barack.

3) Up until about 20 years ago the Earth’s temperature had been rising slowly. However, as we have shown and a multitude of scientists have shown, in the past two decades there has been absolutely minimal if any, global warming. This flattening out of the trend showed that all of the gloom and doom forecasts of global warming advocates were incredibly wrong and thus held no value in supporting what was becoming a myth, global warming.

But indeed, there was warming up until twenty years ago or so. While global warming alarmists said this was a horrible, horrible trend, there are some other scientists who observed that that long ago global warming might have actually been a good thing:
  • According to a recent article on the Constitution website, Robert Murphy, an economist with the Institute For Energy Research, says that higher temperatures have resulted in better harvests and fewer elderly deaths in the winter.
  • Murphy claims that one of the major climate forecast models, the FUND model, and the model Obama used to establish a “social cost of carbon” showed that global warming actually had a net positive benefit, “showed global warming was a net positive through about 3 degrees Celsius of warming — a full degree higher than what the U.N. considers “dangerous.”
  • Environmental economist Richard Tol’s work concluded that global warming, at least short term, would provide a net benefit to society and humanity: “Tol’s paper examined projections from 27 models and found net benefits from “initial warming,” then net costs to society after that. Tol said net costs appear around 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels — that could be 40 to 50 years away.”
  • Tol also concluded that, “Plants grow faster and tolerate drought better if there is more carbon dioxide in the air.”
  • Satellite data shows that the world has greened up over the past few decades which many researchers attribute to extra carbon dioxide being in the air: “Scientists on the CO2 Coalition, a nonprofit, publicly argue that higher atmospheric CO2 concentrations are more of a benefit than a burden. One of their members, scientist Craig Idso, has catalogued a slew of studies pointing to the benefits of more atmospheric CO2.”
So in essence, we are living in the best possible scenario from a climate perspective. The warming that did exist but which stopped growing about twenty years ago boosting farm and foliage growth. But it not get so high that it has caused catastrophic climate conditions on the Earth which means that we do not need any kind of international agreement on climate change control and that Trump was right to pull us out of it for the many reasons listed above. Hopefully no, based on all of the science and the realities we now know, people like Al Gore will please just ...go….away.
