November, 2021, Part 6, Political Class Insanity: Nepotism In The White House, Insane and Idiotic Mandates, and Widespread Voting Corruption

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) Turns out that the Biden administration is just as corrupt and awash in basic bribery money as every other Presidential administration:
  • According to the Washington Beacon, Steve Ricchetti is a pretty big player in the Biden administration.
  • Jeff Ricchetti, his brother, is a big time Washington lobbyist.
  • General Motors paid brother Jeff $160,000 to lobby for electric vehicle Federal tax incentives and before you know it, Joe Biden is visiting a General Motors plant.
  • But apparently this is not the only shady money deal that the Ricchetti folks have been involved in.
  • According to the Open Secrets organization, brother Jeff has already hauled in $2.4 million in lobbying fees this year, double what he got in 2020 when Biden was not in office.\Various ethics experts have come down on the Biden administration for allowing brother Steve to be involved in matters that his brother lobbies for: "Steve Ricchetti ought to completely recuse himself from any part of the legislation that his brother’s firm is lobbying on, and then have the White House not take calls from his brother," said Richard Painter, a former White House ethics chief and Democratic candidate for office.
  • But there is more since three of Steve Ricchetti’s kids actually work for the Biden administration which prompted Walter Shaub, White House ethics chief during the Obama administration, to opine that the Biden administration's decision to permit nepotism amounts to a "f— you" to ethics experts.
The lack of ethics and corruption in this administration is truly a “f___ you” to American taxpayers.

2) Biden is pushing for the entire country to get vaccinated regardless of the dangers of the vaccine, the fact that many Americans have already gotten and recovered from covid and have the natural antibodies in their system with no need for a vaccine, and the reality that the vaccine does not prevent a vaccinated person from still getting the disease or from passing the disease onto others, vaccinated or not.

Vermont makes the case that Biden, and other tyrannical politicians across the country really do not have reality on their side when it comes to the draconian lockdowns and loss of freedom of Americans:
  • Vermont has the highest vaccination rate in the country at around 71.5%.
  • Rhode Island at 71.2% and Connecticut at 70.9% are right behind Vermont in the vaccination race.
  • And yet covid cases in Vermont have recently been “surging” according to the numbers and Mike Pieciak, Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation: “We just haven’t [previously] seen an increase in terms of that raw number of cases during the pandemic.”
  • There were over 2,000 new Vermont covid cases reported in a previous week in one of the least populated, but most vaccinated, states in the union.
  • The recent seven day moving average of new Vermont covid cases is up 42%.
The “experts” really have no clue as to why the most heavily vaccinated state has such a surge and increase in covid cases. Some of the excuses include:
  • The vaccines are wearing off - then why have the vaccine at all if it is just going to wear off in a few months?
  • Not enough people have natural immunity from the covid because of the vaccine: then wouldn’t it have been better to allow herd immunity to happen naturally and get everyone who needed natural antibodies to get to that stage if people who got the vaccine are going to get sick anyway?
The bottom line is Biden and a whole host of egomaniac and selfish politicians put a lot of us through a lot of grief and it may have all been for nothing except to massage their power hungry egos.

3) There is no doubt in my mind that the 2020 Presidential election was one of the most corrupt and fraudulent national elections in the history of the country. And having not voted for Trump either time, I sincerely believe that he was the truly elected President but was denied another term by a widespread and well funded criminal campaign to get him out of office.

In fact, since before the election, I have been collecting news articles from across the country regarding election fraud and corruption and would be happy to share any of the over 500 articles that I have on file. The corruption included accounts of people that have been arrested, put on trial and convicted of election fraud. The files include video tapes of people claiming and bragging that they committed election fraud. It contains articles with embedded video of election fraud happening right inside the polling places. The articles included statistical and mathematical analyses that show that it was impossible or nearly impossible for Biden's vote totals to be accurate and winning.

And now we have some startling analyses from the government watchdog group, Judicial Watch, which number wise show how screwed up our voting processes are and how these process inadequacies make it very easy for voter fraud to occur:
  • Analysis by Judicial Watch found that 14 high population counties in five states across the country are likely in violation of the 1993 National Voter Registration Act.
  • Specifically, in letters sent to the election officials in those 14 counties, Judicial Watch pointed out that the law requires that all states, "conduct a general program that makes a reasonable effort to remove" from its voter rolls the names of ineligible voters who have either died or moved or have not voted in the next two general Federal elections.
  • Their analysis showed that the 14 counties removed an “absurdly low” to “impossible” number of inactive voter registrations.
  • Their analysis covered the four years from November, 2016 to November 2020.
  • For example, San Bernardino County in California has just under 1.3 official registered voters.
  • However, between 2016 and 2020 the county government removed a grand total of 14 registered voters from the rolls which were supposed to represent voters who have died, moved, or had not voted in the previous two national elections.
  • Thus, in a county with 1.3 million voters,on average about three of those voters died, moved, or did not vote in two consecutive national elections, high doubtful
  • But Sacramento County in California is even better.
  • With just over 1 million registered voters, according to its voter rolls not a single registered voter died, moved, or failed to vote in the previous two national elections, remarkable.
  • In five New York counties, Brooklyn, Nassau, Queens, Staten Island, and Manhattan, covering about 7 million registered voters, a grand total of 3 voters covering all five counties were removed from the voter rolls in four years.
Ridiculous failures of government entities and the politicians that operate them to create trust and integrity in the respective voting processes. In a population of 7 million people in New York, you cannot say with a straight face that only three people moved, died, or did not vote in two consecutive national elections.

But it gets worse. In 2020, Judicial Watch found that over 350 counties in 29 states actually had voter registration totals that exceeded the total eligible voting population in those counties. This led Judicial Watch President, Tom Fitton, to say: "Dirty voter rolls can mean dirty elections." The country will survive bad Presidents like Carter,Obama and Biden. It will not survive corrupt and fraudulent voting processes like we obviously saw last November.

That will do it for today: busted voting processes, stupid vaccine mandates, and nepotism in the Biden White House. It often seems that American politicians could be any more inept even if they tried.

The Horrors and Destruction that Donald Trump Has Imposed On America...Just Kidding! Part 7

Before we start today’s discussion, let’s review my voting history:
  • I have never voted for a Republican for President in my life.
  • Thus, I did not vote for Trump.
  • I have rarely voted for a Republican for national office in my life.
A little over a year ago, many liberals, Democrats, and millennials were besides themselves with grief and fear because their pre-ordained queen, Hillary Clinton, was not elected President. Instead, Donald Trump was elected, an individual that these same people despised, hated, and feared, an individual they felt would endanger and possibly destroy the country and our democracy. For the past year they fretted, worried and lashed out at anything or anyone that even remotely smelled of Donald Trump.

Given that Trump has been in office for just over a year, I thought, that as someone who did not vote for him, it would be a good idea to review the horror, trauma, and terrible things that Trump has subjected the country to in just one short year. This obviously a very sarcastic comment when you take an unbiased look at what has happened during the Trump Presidency. The six previous posts we did on this topic identified over 100 good things that have happened to America and Americans since Trump became President:

But those six posts were not enough to cover the good things that have happened since the election. Already I found another set of ways why the country is better off since Trump came into office and thus, today we add to that list:
  1. National consumer confidence jumped up in February to the second highest level since 2004, 14 years ago, according to the most recent University of Michigan survey.
  2. In that same survey, Americans' perceptions of their own finances rose over 4% over the previous month.
  3. In that same survey, 35% of respondents gave favorable references to government policies (likely as a result of the Trump tax cuts and bonus payments), the highest level of favorability in half a century.
  4. Most automakers reported great sales in March with General Motors sales up 16% from the previous March, Chrysler saw a 14% year over year gain, the Jeep brand sales were up 45% and experienced their best sales month EVER, and most other car makers also saw year over year sales increases.
  5. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos recently and correctly announced that the Federal education failure known as Common Core was basically a relic from the past: “I agree — and have always agreed — with President Trump on this: ‘Common Core is a disaster. And at the U.S. Department of Education, Common Core is dead.”
Another five reasons to add to the previous 120 or so reasons why the first year and a few months of the Trump Presidency has not wrought disaster on the country.

Given your gross error in judgment relative to Trump, let me ask that you to do us all a favor by implementing the following changes in your behavior and attitude:
  • Chill out, tamp down your TDS affliction. No matter how much you hate Trump on a sexist, personal basis, get over it. He is the legally and duly elected President, he will be around for a while so refocus your hatred on more constructive issues and matters. You will live a lot longer if you take your hatred out of your heart and soul and devote it to something positive.
  • I would really appreciate it if some of you would apologize to the Trump voters you have disrespected in some of the grossest terms possible over the past year. You have called millions of voters racists, ignorant, stupid, Nazis, KKK members, and other horrible names simply because you disagreed with their voting choice. No American should be called such disgusting names simply because they exercised their Constitutional rights to the best of their abilities. Plus, slandering over 60 million Americans is no way to unite the country and get it focused on the real issues facing us all.
  • More personally, I would like, no I am demanding, an apology from some of you for your slanderous and disgusting name calling because in doing so, you insulted and disrespected my sister, my family members, my friends, and my co-workers who simply voted their conscience. I will defend their right to vote anyway they wanted and will no put up with your childish and vicious venom and bile directed at them, very important people in my life
  • And finally, I challenge you to read the following blog post, a post that shows quite clearly that it was hateful people like some of you and your silence during the Obama years that actually caused Trump to be elected. Thus, the people you hate for voting for Trump are actually looking back at you in the mirror:
https://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2016/03/how-american-liberals-and-washington.html

If you were silent in the dozens of instances listed in this post then you were responsible for the very thing you hate: a Trump Presidency. Or put another way, a so far successful and productive Trump Presidency. Over 120 accomplishments in less than a year is not too shabby despite many of wanting both Trump and the country to fail.

Aprtil, 2016, Part 4, Political CLass Insanity:Americans Leaving The Country, EPA Destructive Idiocy, and GM Still Owes Us $10 Billion

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history. It looks like our politicians have been especially insane over the past month or so let’s get started with the latest insanity from today’s American politicians:1) Obama keeps saying that things are great in America despite the reality that over 45 million Americans are receiving government food assistance, the labor participation rate is at 40 year lows, economic growth continues below the historical trend rate, over 14 million Americans cannot find a job or can only find part time work, the national debt will likely double under his watch which will burden future generations’ economic well being, the threat of terrorism growths more dangerous every day, a large majority of Americans think the country is on the wrong track, freedoms and liberties are being crushed by the political class, and no major issue facing America ever gets resolved. The gap between his perception and the reality of America today is mind boggling. But let me throw out another mind boggling statistic that shows how depressed Americans are. According to an analysis from CNNMoney, more Americans than ever are leaving America forever. 4,279 Americans cut their ties with the country in 2015, up 20% in just one year. This reality is 18 times higher than the number of Americans who renounced their citizenship in 2008, just before the onset of the Obama Presidency. One theory is that the high taxes and the complexity of filing taxes with the IRS, especially Americans who are living and working abroad, have frustrated some Americans so much that they have just decided to get away from this complexity of tax compliance. So rather than getting tax money from these likely wealthy Americans by making filing taxes easier and less expensive to pay, the Washington political class is forcing these Americans to go elsewhere in the world, taking ALL of their taxable income with them. The trend of Americans getting out is on a steadily increasing trend year over year:

How bad is the current set of politicians that their inability to have a coherent and fair tax system is actually causing more and more Americans to give up the citizenship of their country? Sad and pathetic.
2) Parts of Kentucky and West Virginia are turning into third world economic basket cases because Obama and his administration have been trying to destroy the coal industry in this country from day one of the administration. Under the shaky and theoretical assumption/myth of man made global warming, this administration has pushed through regulations that have dampened the use of coal in this country and caused massive unemployment growth in the coal mining regions of Kentucky and West Virginia. But at least these newly unemployed Americans can take satisfaction that the destruction of their livelihood and lives helped save the planet. But did their sacrifices save the planet? Not according to the head of the EPA, Gina McCarthy. The EPA’s latest coal killing effort, was meant to show “leadership” in the world vs. actually curbing man made global warming, according to McCarthy. That’s right, we are ruining people’s via the EPA for no reason and no impact on the environment. And even this "show" only objective is coming up far short. According to a Congressman, stated during McCarthy’s Congressional hearing when she said the plan was just for show: “But even then no one is following us. Since that Paris accord China has already announced that they’re going to put up 360 [coal plants]. India has announced that they’re going to double their use of coal since the Paris accord.”But 360 new coal plants is just the start. China plans on using more coal in its energy future and India has said that it will DOUBLE its coal usage within four years. Thus, the two countries that Obama was trying to impress with our citizens’ sacrifices, China and India, have basically said go away, we will use more coal and build more coal plants regardless of what the U.S. does. And while our lesser use of coal will be wiped out by the much higher use of coal by the rest of the world, thousands of American families and workers have their lives destroyed for nothing. How insane is that?3) We have not talked about the taxpayer bailout of General Motors lately but it recently has popped up in the news. Back in the midst of the Great Recession, the Washington political class gave General Motors (GM) tens of billions of dollars and additional tax breaks in order to prevent them from going through a traditional bankruptcy proceeding. Keep in mind that when the Federal government finally got out of the bailout arrangement with GM, the American taxpayer was out over $10 billion. Now, fast forward to today. Based on the latest government filings by the company, as reported by Elizabeth MacDonald of Fox Business, while GM makes nearly all of its profits in the U.S., in 2015, GM paid only $5 million in Federal income taxes. If you add up all of the taxes GM paid to all levels of government in this country in 2015, the ended up paying nothing in taxes despite record sales and high profits. But GM, according to government filings, paid $908 million in taxes in China despite getting most of its sales and profits from the U.S. Now, I have always advocated for Americans and American businesses to be taxed at the lowest rate possible since the American political class wastes so much of our tax money now. But really, something is wrong, and it is probably called crony capitalism, when politicians can give a private company tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer wealth, allow that company to not pay back over $10 billion of that wealth despite being a profitable enterprise, so much so that it can pay a foreign government almost 10% of what it still owes the American taxpayer in one year. How insane is our tax code and the idiots that operate it?Oh, and to add to insults to injury, recall that when the GM bailout package was put forth, Obama promised it would not cost taxpayers “a dime,” another Obama lie or deception. Also, instead of investing in American workers and American factories, GM recently announced that it will be the first auto maker to import and sell one of its Chinese made SUVs, in this country later this year. Pathetic. That will do it for today’s insanity. A political class that throws taxpayer wealth at its corporate cronies with no great return on those funds, an EPA and administration that kills industries and people’s livelihood for no reason, and Americans continue to get so fed up with the mess that our politicians have put the country in that they are willing to renounce the citizenship of their birth and their lives. More insanity tomorrow.

Retro 4 - George Orwell, Doublethink and Today's Politicians

Given family engagements in town this week, we will be rerunning some of our most popular posts, posts that have garnered the most attention and which showed that we are currently enduring the worst set of politicians America has ever had.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2010

George Orwell, Doublethink and Today's Politicians

I am a big fan of George Orwell's classic Novel, "1984." I think he was a great writer and a better prognosticator since many of the predictions he made on "1984" of how democracies would die are actually unfolding today, throughout the world and throughout America. One of the concepts he talks about is "doublethink" which he defines as the ability "to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them." If a leader can establish doublethink in the minds of his followers, then the credibility of that leader will never be questioned since whatever he says is right, doublethink suppresses free thought and free will.

I was thinking of how proud Orwell would be of our current day political class. Many examples abound of how our politicians and the government they run can implement two contradictory programs and never once stop to consider the incongruity and disconnect between the two programs. Consider:

- One of the leading drivers of escalating health care costs in this country is the poor eating habits and exercise habits of many Americans, leaving them overweight and susceptible to many diseases. In fact, one of the main activities of Michele Obama since coming to Washington has been to work hard to reduce the obesity problem plaguing many, many kids in this country. One of the efforts that both Ms. Obama is pushing, along with other parts of the government, including the Agriculture Department, is to reduce the amount of saturated fat that Americans eat, encouraging us to move towards low fat milk and other low fat dairy products.

This all sounds good. However, consider an organization called Dairy Management, as described in a November 8, 2010 New York Times article. Dairy Management is financed by a government mandated fee on the dairy industry and receives millions of dollars a year directly from the budget of the Agricultural Department. The Agriculture Department sits on Dairy Management's board, approves its marketing campaigns, and interfaces with Congress on its work. But Dairy Management recently worked with Domino's Pizza to develop a new line of pizza offerings. These new pies had 40% more cheese and Dairy Management helped develop and pay for the associated $12 million marketing campaign.

But wait. Each slice of these new pizzas contains as much as two thirds of a person's daily recommended amount of saturated fat, which has been linked to heart disease and other diseases. Thus, our government is telling people to eat better and reduce the amount of unsaturated fat in their diets while they are funding support for private companies to put more saturated fat back into Americans' diets. The particularly ironic part of this Domino's example is that I would assume that kids are high pizza eaters, the same type of Americans that Michele Obama is trying to get healthy. Doublethink in the Agriculture Department - eat healthier but don't eat healthier.

- There has been a lot of hype lately regarding all electric cars, some of which will be available shortly for consumer use, e.g. General Motors' Volt. The hope behind electric cars is that they will not spew out pollutants like the gasoline internal combustion engine, improving the environment, and will help wean us from dependency on foreign energy sources. Our political class is so excited about the future of electric cares that, according to an electric car article that was in the October 9, 2010 issue of The Economist magazine, you can get up to a $7,500 subsidy rebate from the U.S. government if you purchase one.

Sounds like a great deal. Get taxpayer money to buy a new car while helping the environment. But, are these vehicles really helping the environment? While the car itself is less polluting, the energy creation needed to generate the electricity to power these cars will increase. In the United States, we get a lot of our electrical power from coal electric plants, which are not the cleanest producers of electricity from an environmental perspective. Thus, we need to find a way to reduce the amount of coal created electricity if the potential of electric cars is to be fulfilled.

But, according to a Washington Post article from May 14, 2007, the government's National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, another Agriculture Department effort, plans to spend $35 billion over the next decade to help build conventional coal electricity plants. More doublethink in the Agriculture Department - the government hands out taxpayer funds for the purchase of electric cars to clean up the environment but uses other taxpayer money to dirty up the environment with coal electricity plants to power the cleaner electric cars.

- Over the past sixty years, the United States has probably spent hundreds of billions of dollars supporting the security and prosperity of South Korea. We fought on South Korea's side, defending them from North Korean and Chinese troops in the Korean war, we provided aid for the recovery, and have stationed tens of thousands of troops in the country since the end of that war. As a result, the South Korean economy has grown into one of the strongest in the world. Besides providing a security cover for their economy to blossom, we are also an important trading partner and market for their companies.

Recently, our State Department has been working to generate support for economic sanctions against the Iranian government in retaliation for the Iranians supposedly developing a nuclear weapon technology. The State Department strategy is to make life so uncomfortable for the Iranian people and government that they will become less likely to develop a nuclear bomb capability.

So what do the South Korean do relative to Iran? According to an article in the October 9, 2010 issue of The Economist magazine, South Korea still wants to protect its annual $10 billion trade volumes with Iran so it recently signed a deal with Iran so that Korean and Iranian business partners could settle trade accounts via a special facility established in two Korean banks and in Korean currencies. State Department doublethink: South Korea is our ally even though they go out of their way to bypass the very sanctions the State Department wants to impose on Iran.

- For years now, the Federal government has subsidized American corn farmers, recently to the tune of $7 billion a year, enticing them to grow more corn, which is eventually turned into ethanol. The ethanol is then added to our national gasoline supply to theoretically extend our gasoline supplies, reduce our dependency on foreign oil and clean up the environment by burning more ethanol and less gasoline.

But the inconvenient truth is that none of the benefits never really materialized and additional problems were created. Since ethanol contains significantly less energy potential than gasoline, more gasoline has to be burned to make up for the energy loss when burning ethanol. According to Robert Bryce of the National Review Online, studies have shown that ethanol use as a motor vehicle fuel increases nitrogen oxides and other key pollutants by 7% over gasoline and also corrodes the fuel lines of older cars and other engines.

According to Cornell Professor David Pimentel, as covered in the energy policy section of "Love My Country, Loathe My Government," corn ethanol is a terrible fuel. It diverts corn crops from the food chain to the energy chain, increasing food costs, it takes a terrible toll on the soil environment, and it is a net user of energy, i.e. it uses more energy to produce than it creates.

Sounds horrible: bad fuel economy, air pollution, soil pollution, bad economics, etc. So what is the political class about to do? According to Mr. Bryce, President Obama recently announced that his administration was going to allow the blend of gasoline to ethanol, currently 90/10, to rise to 85/15. He did this as a favor to the corn industry which has more ethanol distillery capacity than it needs. Energy Department doublethink: using ethanol in a 90/10 mixture is a bad thing to do but moving to an 85/25 mixture is a good thing.

- According to a November 8, 2010 Associated Press report, our war effort in Afghanistan faces a dire shortage of 900 trainers and not enough Afghan officers in the race to build up a viable native Afghan fighting force, which would allow NATO and the United States to get its troops out of the country as soon as possible. According to the recent report, the head of the training operation in the country said that if these trainers are not brought on board soon, the July, 2011 pulldown date of American forces is not going to happen.

Training challenges include a high illiteracy rate among Army and police forces (over 90%), high corruption among the officer ranks, and high levels of attrition (which I think is the code word for desertion.) Nine years after we entered Afghanistan, these elementary problems have not been addressed.

Since this situation is critical to successfully ending our occupation and expense of Afghanistan, one would have hoped that every effort and resource would be used to fill this training need. However, a November 4, 2010 article in the St. Petersburg Times reported that the U.S. government will spend over a half a billion taxpayer dollars to expand its embassy in the Afghanistan capital of Kabul. How many trainers do you think $511 million could buy? How many Afghanistan police officers and soldiers could be made semi-literate, enough so that they became good soldiers?

Thus, we have some Obama administration doublethink going on: we want to get out of Afghanistan as quickly as possible, our number one priority, we need a 50% increase in military trainers, 900 additional trainers, to make that happen, but we will lavishly spend resources to expand a single building complex in the capital. This is a major disconnect in logic: if we cannot produce a viable native fighting force via training, who cares how big or how nice the U.S. embassy is? It will eventually be occupied by the Taliban. Fix the root cause of the problem, the Afghan military, don't try to convince yourselves that both the military readiness and a single building are equally important. A non-doublethink approach would devote some of that $511 million to the training issue since that would recognize the vastly different priorities and importance at play here.

I am sure that you can find government and political class doublethink examples all around you. Sometimes doublethink happens because we have allowed the a Federal government to get so large that one part of it does not know what the other parts of the government are doing. One part wants to reduce pollution by promoting electric cars while another part subsidizes coal burning electric plants that dirty up the air. One part of the government wants Americans kids and adults to get healthy by eating low fat foods while another part, in this case within the same Cabinet Department (Agriculture), helps Domino's Pizza get more fatty, cheesy pizza into Americans' diets.

Sometimes doublethink happens because no one in the political class prioritizes needs and importance, e.g. the wasting of millions of dollars dressing up an embassy when military trainers, vital to our military success, go wanting. Other times politicians do doublethink to please their election campaign donors, e.g. corn farmers who get favorable treatment from the political class, even though those in the political class know that the favorable treatment is not good economically or environmentally.

Whatever the reasons underlying the doublethink situation, you can bet that the American taxpayer is footing an unnecessary bill. That is why Step 1 of "Love My Country, Loathe My Government" is so important. The Step itself calls for an annual 10% reduction in the federal government budget for five years. One way to accomplish this reduction, according Step 1, is to do a bottoms up, zero based budget review. Every government program, law, department, expenditure, etc. would be on the table, stripped down to it's core function and mission in order to look for redundancies and doublethink situations, like the Dairy Management situation described above.

Only then can we rationalize what we are paying for, why we are paying for it, should we be paying for it, and not paying for it if not worthwhile. Hopefully, once our politicians had far less government to think about and to track, they could focus much more closely on a smaller set of priorities, identifying wasteful doublethink quicker and more efficiently. Think about that wonderful goal: a quicker and more efficient government run operation. A government that has retired Orwell's concept of doublethink from our world.

August, 2014 Polticial Class Insanity, Part 3: Dodd-Frank is DOA, General Motors is Dead Every Day and Politcians Say The Darndest Things

This is our third post this month relative to the latest political class insanity. Our politicians continue to amaze us every month with their wasteful spending, inane quotes, inability to legislate or operate an efficient and effective government, and generally care only about themselves and their self enrichment. As we review these antics every month, we continue to reinforce our opinion that we are currently being served by the worst set of politicians in the history of the country.

1) Most of our reviews of insanity are current reviews. However, we recently came across a great article from a little while ago from the Independent Journal Review entitled, “18 of the Most Cringe-Worthy Phrases Ever Spoken By a Politician.” Many of these are not real current but they do give you an idea of how out of touch or just plan deceitful most of America’s politicians are today:

1) “If a president of the United States ever lied to the American people he should resign.” – President Bill Clinton. I guess that “I did not have sex with that woman” was not a lie back then.

2) “The Gulf War was like teenage sex. We got in too soon and out too soon.” - Senator Tom Harkin. Totally classless act, Senator. You are supposed to be a leader in this country and teenage sex drivel is what comes out of your mouth.

3) “I don’t understand how they can call me anti-Latino when I’ve made four movies in Mexico.” – former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. He sounds like a “But I stayed at a Holiday Inn” commercial.

4) “I cook occasionally just to see how easy women’s work is.” – former Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill. And people in Tip’s party claim the Republicans have a war on women.

5) “In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.” – Vice President Joe Biden. No racism to see here, move along.

6) “I am not a chauvinist, obviously. . . . I believe in women’s rights for every woman but my own.” – Chicago Mayor Harold Washington. Another one of Tip’s party members.

7) “It’s a racist tax.” – Florida Represenative Ted Yoho on the civil-rights consequences of taxing tanning salons, which supposedly discriminates against white people. Huh?

8)”I don’t care anything about your disability.” - Texas Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee (quoted in a federal lawsuit brought by an employee who alleged failure to accommodate her disability). A shining example of political compassion.

9) “I think incest can be handled as a family matter within the family.” – Arkansas Representative Jay Dickey Jr. Isn’t that where the problem started?

10) “The roads in Missouri were much more terrifying to me than the attacks on the World Trade Center, because I really did think my life was far more at risk.” – former HHS Secretary and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. No sarcasm or cute comment here. This is just a blatant, cold hearted insult and disgrace to anyone who lost a family member or friend in the attacks, totally senseless and compassionless statement.

11) “No, no. I have been practicing… I bowled a 129. It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something.” - President Barack Obama. Same as Sebelius, compassionless and cold hearted.

12) “I know what Victoria’s Secret is. She’s a slut.” – Wyoming Representative Barbara Cubin. As with Harkin’s statement above, totally classless act.

13) “I am working for the time when unqualified blacks, browns and women join the unqualified men in running the government.” – Texas State Representative Frances “Sissy” Farenthold. Probably a true statement.

14) “I’m not against the blacks, and a lot of the good blacks will attest to that.”- Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham. Sad.

15) “Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.“- California Representative and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Give there are only about 315 million people living in the country, 500 million a month is quite a feat.

16) “In two previous gentlemen’s statements on the amendment, both of them referred to the Affordable Care Act, which is the accurate title of the health care reform law, as ‘ObamaCare.’ That is a disparaging reference to the President of the United States. … It is clearly in violation of House rules against that.” - Florida Representative and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. I’m sorry what did she say? I usually try not to listen when she or Pelosi speak.

17) “My fear is that the whole island [of Guam] will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.” – Georgia Representtive Hank Johnson. The really sad part about this idiotic statement and belief is that somehow he got reelected, confirming our strong feeling that our election processes are broken if he could get reelected after publicly worrying a fixed Pacific Island could topple over.

18) “I personally find the word ‘alien’ offensive when applied to individuals, especially to children. An alien to me is someone from out of space.” – Florida Representative Frederica Wilson. An alien to me is usually somebody in the White House or in Congress since they usually are dealing with a different world and reality that most Americans are struggling against every day.

Still think that the 600 people or so sitting in Congress and the White House can fix what they have broken in this country? If so, you are either more optimistic than me or you really did not read the thoughts that these types have actually uttered out loud.

2) The Washington political class thought so highly of themselves and their ability to invest taxpayer dollars in the market, that at one point they let General Motors have about $40-50 billion of our money to get back onto their feet. How did that work out, how good was their investing acumen? Consider that we never got back about $10 billion of that sum and the Associated Press recently pointed out how bad that investment was anyway:
  • General Motors recently issued six more recalls , bringing its 2014 total to 60 recalls covering almost 30 million vehicles.
  • Keep in mind that the annual car market for this country is just over half of 30 million vehicles. In other words, General Motors has had to recall nearly twice the size of the annual domestic auto market.
  • This is almost three times General Motors’ previous annual record of about 11 million cars recalled in 2004.
  • The latest recalls are for faulty seats in just over 475,000 cars and small SUVs.
  • But other problems include incomplete welds on seat brackets, turn signal failures, power steering failures, loose suspension bolts and faulty roof rack bolts.
  • The recalls were spread out over discontinued models, new models, cars, and trucks, indicating a systemic and company wide malaise.
This is what the political class does with our hard earned money. Wastes it on dangerous, inept businesses like General Motors but also on such lesser names as Solyndra and others in the alternative energy field.

Again, does anyone really think that the current crop of sitting politicians can manage us out of our major issues when they invest like drunken sailors in companies like the negative record setting General Motors?

3) Since today’s insanity post seems to be focusing on politicians’ incompetence, let’s stay in that realm and discuss a recent article written by Peter Suderman for Reason magazine. The Dodd-Frank legislation was supposed to be the Federal government’s answer to the Great Recession.

It was supposed to fix what the Federal government and the political class did not do in the lead up to the Great Recession, i.e. they screwed up and tried to fix/cover up their screw up with the massive Dodd-Frank legislation. This is probably Obama’s second biggest legislative effort, only behind Obama Care.

Given how poorly Obama Care turned out (see last week’s posts for proof of that disaster), it is not surprising that Dodd-Frank is also turning out to be a disaster, as detailed by Mr. Suderman:
  • Four years after the Dodd-Frank legislation was enacted as a result of the 2009 financial crisis, only about half of its rules and regulations have been written and finished.
  • The law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, which tracks implementation of the law, says its research finds only 52% of its nearly 400 rulemaking requirements are complete.
  • Over at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), only 44% of the required rules are finalized or closed.
  • Almost half of the 280 rulemaking deadlines that have come and gone so far have been blown with no sign things will speed up anytime soon: "To pretend we can process the rules in a thoughtful way, in a period of a year or two, or even five or 10, I think is crazy," SEC member Daniel Gallagher told The Wall Street Journal.
  • Which raises a primary question: how good is a piece of legislation if it may take upwards of ten years to implement? We could go through two-three economic cycles by then.
  • Last summer, three years after its creation, the 848-page law had created nearly 14,000 pages of mind boggling new regulations.
  • Which raises a second primary question: at what point do Americans, or any human beings, stop trying to figure out 14,000 pages of regulations and just ignore the law in total? If you make it so difficult, too difficult to follow the law and the legislation than what good is the legislation?
Pathetic leadership and governance. They pass a law that has not taken effect four years after it was passed, a law that is 14,000 pages and counting in complexity, and a law that no one really knows if it will actually work. Mr. Suderman's closing comments in his article sum up the insanity and ineptness quite nicely:

Given the scale and scope of the rules so far, and the countless hours of dithering and debate surrounding their creation, it is hard to argue that Congress even had a meaningful vision for how the law would function and what exactly it would do. Yes, in theory, judging by the results, it's hard not to conclude that the legislators behind the law did not really know what it was supposed to do at all.

“Did not really know what it was supposed to do at all.” Sounds about right for this group in Congress. Maybe they were too preoccupied on whether Guam was tipping over or being terrified of driving in Missouri. They obviously were not focused on writing crisp, effective, and timely legislation.

So let’s review: bad political quotes, bad political legislation, and bad investment of taxpayer wealth. Sounds about right. More insanity tomorrow.

Part 5, Why The Obama Administration Deserves Its Ranking As The Worst Presidency Since 1945

A recent public opinion poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, a traditional and unbiased source of public opinion, asked a sample of Americans who they thought operated the worst Presidency since 1945. Barack Obama won a plurality of votes in that poll for being the worst U.S. President since 1945. 33% of respondents named him as the worst President over the past seven decades with George W, Bush finishing second at 28%.

Both of them far outpolled who I generally consider the two worst Presidents of the past hundred years, Jimmy Carter (8%) for being a President who was clueless and totally ineffective, and Richard Nixon (13%) for simply being a vindictive crook. America has to be pretty disgusted with your Presidential administration when you are mentioned 2-4 more times than either Carter or Nixon as the worst President since 1945.

During this week, we are exploring the overwhelming number of reasons while this result for President Obama is not only rational but is well deserved. Before anyone starts with their counter arguments or disputing my list of Obama policy failures, criminal acts, economic ignorance, violations of the Constitution, and broken promises, keep in mind the following facts:
  • I have never voted for a Republican for President in my life and I am over 60 years old
  • Up until November, 2010, I had never voted for a Republican for national office
  • In the first two years of his Presidency, Obama’s party was in control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate with filibuster proof majorities in both places, I.e. he could have done anything he wanted politically and legislatively without any assist from any Republican
  • I am not saying that anyone else would have resolved all of the issues listed below but it is difficult to think that at least some of these issues would have been resolved by people such as Truman, Kennedy, or Reagan. The Obama Presidency has been so bad that just about every issue and problem listed below is actually far WORST rather than BETTER since the onset of the Obama administration.
  • Consider an old saying: “Don’t tell me how rough the seas were, just tell me you brought the boat safely into the harbor.” In other words, a true leader takes the blame and gives the credit. No one forced Obama to become President, he knew the situation he was getting into. He should be judged on how well he managed the situation he inherited going forward. Unfortunately, instead of leadership and looking forward, he chose instead to whine, look backwards, and to blame others for his failures rather than focusing on moving forward from whatever adverse situation he inherited.
Okay, so that sets out the preliminaries: I am not a conservative, a Republican, or a neocon trying to tear down this President. This President could have done anything he wanted in the first two years of his tenure, he cannot blame the Republicans for blocking anything he failed at since he had a historic window of political opportunity. Instead of leveraging the window and leading the country, he chose to blame the previous President, the Japanese tsunami, ATM machines, and a whole host of other factors in the absence of Presidential leadership.

Thus, without any further delay and in no particular order, consider the twenty reasons why the Quinnipiac public opinion poll is probably an accurate view of why America rates the Obama administration as the worst Presidential administration in the past 70 years or so:

85) He illegally created a “shadow government” by establishing a so-call “czar” system in order to bypass the Constitutionally required Congressional approvals of high ranking government positions, violating Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution.
86) His administration violated existing laws by failing to produce a Federal budget proposal on time in four of the first five years of this administration, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

87) His administration illegally demanded monetary kickbacks (often exuberant kickbacks) from American organizations requesting government documents under the Freedom of Information Act, (FOIA), requests that by law have to be provided for free or for a very small processing cost, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

88) His administration demanded that the Ford Motor company stop showing a Ford television commercial that mentioned that its competitors, General Motors and Chrysler, had received Federal bailout money, a violation of the company’s First Amendment rights.

89) His administration coldly ignored the request for military help, help that was readily available, when the U.S. Benghazi consulate and nearby adjacent annex were under siege by terrorists, a siege that endangered the lives of about 24 American citizens and resulted in the unnecessary death of four of those brave citizens violating their pursuit of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

90) His administration illegally used resources of the Federal government to inhibit and harass companies (e.g. Gibson Guitar, Boeing’s planned move of jobs to South Carolina, etc.) whose political agenda did not line up with the President’s political agenda, abusing the power of his office and the executive branch for political gain, violating Section 2, Articles 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

91) His administration intentionally violated the WARN act by telling companies to not announce layoffs that were in compliance with the WARN Act prior to the 2012 Presidential election, promising to pay any fines Act in the future with taxpayer money those companies may incur as a result of violating the WARN as requested by the Obama administration.

92) His administration violated the Welfare Reform Act of 1996 by illegally allowing able bodied welfare recipients not to fulfill the weekly work requirements of that legislation.

93) He refused to fire Eric Holder, the Attorney General of the United States, after Holder testified before Congress that he was unaware that the Justice Department was harassing journalist James Rosen even though Holder had signed off on the harassing investigation, becoming an accessory after the fact of the crime.

94) His administration directly harassed and pressured insurance companies and insurance company executives not to publish or discuss the very disappointing number of people that had signed up for Obama Care insurance policies, violating their First Amendment rights.

95) His administration asked and/or forced contractors to disclose their political contributions be fore being allowed to bid on Federal contracts and projects, violating those contractors’ First Amendment rights.

96) He refused to fire 15 IRS agents who illegally stole the medical records of 10 million American citizens, becoming an accessory after the fact of the crime.

97) Failed to fire Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius after she allegedly pressured insurance companies to contribute to the promotion and advancement of Obama Care, becoming an accessory after the fact of the crime

98) Failed to fire Kathleen Sebelius after she violated the Hatch Law when she campaigned/endorsed a Democrat for office in North Carolina, becoming an accessory after the fact after the fact of the crime.

99) He allegedly told the EPA to unilaterally set emissions standards and bypass Congress, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

100) His destruction of citizens’ privacy via the massive and illegal spying of the National Security Agency and other government entities destroys the underpinnings of the Roe Vs. Wade Supreme Court ruling which was based on the principle of privacy. If this concept of privacy is destroyed by NSA and other government spying, i.e. if there is no privacy now in this country given that the government spies on every citizens’ electronic and other forms of communication, there is not right to an abortion in this country.

101) His administration violated the Federal Information Security Information Act (FISMA) by giving the Obama Care information systems infrastructure “authority to operate” even though it failed the required FISMA’s security control assessment.

102) According to a Federal judge’s ruling, his administration illegally tried to avoid disclosure of a foreign aid directive.

103) His administration illegally intruded into the General Motors bankruptcy proceedings to illegally rob General Motors bond holders of their due while protecting his politically friendly union interests.

104) His administration violated the Solyndra loan agreement and illegally moved an Obama financial political backer ahead of the Federal government and American taxpayer in the Solyndra bankruptcy proceedings, resulting in the American taxpayer getting less out of those proceedings than legally permissible.

We will wrap up this extensive topic in tomorrow's post where we will review the last set of reasons why the Obama Presidency is the worst since 1945. We will also summary all 114 reasons in the context of what an abject failure we have had to live thtough via the Obama adminsitraiton, a Presidency that will leave the ocuntry far worse off after it en ds than when it began.

Part 2, Why The Obama Administration Deserves Its Rating As The Worst Presidency Since 1945

Barack Obama won a plurality of votes in that poll for being the worst U.S. President since 1945. 33% of respondents named him as the worst President over the past seven decades with George W, Bush finishing second at 28%.

America has to be pretty disgusted with your Presidential administration when you are mentioned 2-4 more times than either Carter or Nixon as the worst president since 1945.

Over the next few days we are going to explore the overwhelming number of reasons while this result for President Obama is not only rational but is well deserved. Before anyone starts with their counter arguments or disputing my list of Obama policy failures, criminal acts, economic ignorance, violations of the Constitution, and broken promises, keep in mind the following facts:
  • I have never voted for a Republican for President in my life and I am over 60 years old.
  • Up until November, 2010, I had never voted for a Republican for national office.
  • In the first two years of his Presidency, Obama’s party was in control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate with filibuster proof majorities in both places, I.e. he could have done anything he wanted politically and legislatively without any assist from any Republican.

Thus, without any further delay and in no particular order, consider the next set of reasons why the Quinnipiac public opinion poll is probably an accurate view of why America rates the Obama administration as the worst Presidential administration in the past 70 years or so (we covered the first 15 reasons yesterday which can be reviewed at: http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2014/07/part-1-why-obama-administration.html)

16) The President’s health care reform legislation has proven to be nothing more than a Rube Goldberg-like insurance scheme that is causing millions of Americans to lose their current health care insurance coverage, to lose access to their preferred doctors, to spend much money more for both their insurance premiums and deductibles, is adding substantially to the national debt, is causing a doctor shortage as more and more doctors retire early to avoid the trauma and nonsense of the legislation, and never addressed the real root causes of escalating health care costs, dooming his approach to failure.
Relevant Obama quote: “And that means that no matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”

17) His lies and deceptions regarding many components of Obama Care ended up getting him awarded the Washignton Post's "2013 Lie of The Year" award.

18) The President has taken extravagant and expensive vacations around the world, spending hundreds of millions of dollars, while Americans sit by and watch as their chances for a good job and good future go unrealized.

19) He has played more golf and attended more campaign fund raisers than any other President, time that might have been better spent fixing the problems facing the country and its citizens.

20) He has done nothing to improve the scholastic performance of American kids who badly trail many other countries along all measurements of educational excellence and who spend far less per student than the Federal government and the Obama administration do.

21) Despite promising to operate the most transparent Presidential administration ever, he has decided that White House visitor logs will no longer be made public, breaking a long tradition of allowing Americans to know who is visiting the White House.

22) He has done nothing to develop and implement a long term and strategic energy policy for the country, instead wasting tens of billions of dollars given away to his political contacts’ and cronies’ failed alternative energy programs and companies (e.g. Solyndra).

23) He presided over economic polices that have seen median U.S. household income decline for five years in a row AFTER the recession ended.
Relevant Obama quote: “I'm a warrior for the middle class.”

24) He unnecessarily intruded into the auto industry bailouts that still resulted in the city of Detroit having to file for bankruptcy and for General Motors to probably never pay back the $9.7 billion still owed to the American taxpayer, contrary to the President’s reelection campaign themes.

25) His failed foreign policies have allowed North Korea to get five years closer to having substantial nuclear weapon and delivery capability.

26) His failed foreign policies have allowed Iran to get five years closer to having substantial nuclear weapon and delivery capability.

27) His failed foreign policies have caused a significant loss of prestige and honor relative to the U.S. in both our allies and enemies’ eyes. A loss compounded by the unfathomable spying on the governments and leaders of our allies.

28) His failed foreign policies have emboldened Russia in eastern Europe, e.g. the annexation of Crimea, and China in the Far East as that country bullies its neighbors over land scattered throughout the oceans in that region of the world.

29) He has presided over economic polices that have seen the average price of gas go up about 90% since the day he took office.

30) He has remained silent and allowed political allies to call his political opponents and ordinary citizens all types of slanderous and foul names despite his promise to unite the country. Those slurs include but are not limited to: a__h____s, terrorists, barbarians, Taliban, racists, Ku Klux Klan members, knuckle dragging Neanderthals, sluts, whores, among others.
Relevant Obama quote: “There's not a liberal America and a conservative America - there's the United States of America.”
Relevant Obama quote: “We want everybody to act like adults, quit playing games, realize that it's not just my way or the highway."
Relevant Obama quote: “It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

31) He has failed to improve the tense situation in the Middle East, specifically the ongoing conflicts between Israel and the Palestinians.

32) He had no plan and not a lot of interest in quickly resolving the Gulf Coast/BP oil spill, given the number of rounds of golf, the number of vacations and the number of political fund raisers he attended as the crisis was destroying nature and jobs along the Gulf coats.

33) He has no plan for fixing the mess that is Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, who together have already gobbled up almost $200 billion in taxpayer bailout dollars.

34) He promised to run the most transparent administration of all time and ended up running the most opaque and paranoid administration since at least the Nixon administration, implementing executive privilege too often, hiding witnesses called to testify in front of Congress, persecuting more government whistle blowers than all previous Presidential administrations combined, hunting down legitimate whistle blowers and dodging or sabotaging legitimate legal Freedom of Information Act requests.
Relevant Obama quote: "My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government."
Relevant Obama quote: "Often the best source about waste, fraud and abuse in government is an existing government employee committed to public integrity and willing to speak out. Such acts of courage and patriotism . . . should be encouraged rather than stifled."

35) He has failed to fix the massively expensive and stupid redundancy in the Federal government:
  • The Federal government has 15 different agencies overseeing food safety laws
  • More than 20 independent Federal programs help the homeless
  • 80 different Federal programs to help economic development
  • 82 different government agencies work on improving teacher quality
  • 47 different government agencies work on job training
  • 18 different programs working on food and nutrition assistance
36) He has ignored the fighting going on Afghanistan and has not implemented a strategy that will withstand the withdrawal of Western troops in 2014, likely resulting in the Taliban taking over again and negating the blood and money the country has spent there over the past decade or so.

37) He has angered civilians all over the Arab world with his drone attacks on terrorist suspects that have ended up killing hundreds, if no thousands of civilians, including hundreds of innocent children. These drone attacks have not slowed down the growth of Al Qaeda and other terror groups while it has embittered civilian populations from Yemen to Pakistan.
Relevant Obama quote (from Pew research): "At the end of his first term, the level of confidence those nations [Middle Eastern countries‘ citizens] feel for Obama fell from 33% to 24%. When it comes to Obama’s policies, as opposed to his personality, the drop is even greater, falling from a high of 34% to a dismal low of 15%."

Thirty seven reasons and two days and we are not close to listing all of the reasons why the Obama administration deserves to be called the worst Presidency since 1945. This is especially true when we have not even touched on the many reasons why this President has violated the Constitution, broke the laws and deserves to be impeached and removed from office. Those reasons will be covered in the coming days.
