January, 2021, Part 2, Political Class Insanity: More Doubts About Global Warming, ABC News Goes Nazi, and Cuomo Screws up Again

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) For a long time I did a monthly set of posts under the theme, “I am a global warming doubter and a believer in science.” The basic premise of the theme was that global warming advocates, who morphed into climate change advocates when their global warming predictions failed miserably, only looked at research and opinions that confirmed their myths. They refuse to even consider that maybe global warming was not the bad thing, or anything, they thought it was.

For whatever reason, there has not been a lot of myth busting that has had to be done lately on the whole climate change topic. I don't know why but at least for now the subject has been kind of dead. Thus, the article summarized below, while it would have fit into that overall theme, it is not enough to fill up a whole post.

Thus, I have decided to kick off today’s political class insanity discussion with that article since it again shows how politicians’ global warming warnings, predictions, and doomsday scenarios never quite seem to happen:
  • Back in September, 2019, a ship carrying 16 climate change advocates got under way to measure how rapidly the ice was melting up towards the North Pole.
  • Good start, people going out to prove or disprove their theories, very scientific.
  • Unfortunately, their ship got stuck in ice halfway between Norway and the North Pole.
  • Keep in mind this was in September, the end of summer, not the dead of winter when everything is much colder.
  • According to the Maritime Bulletin: "The ship is on an Arctic tour with the Climate Change documentary film team, and tourists, concerned with Climate Change and melting Arctic ice. All 16 Climate Change warriors were evacuated by helicopter in challenging conditions, all are safe."
  • But this was not the first time this had happened, back in July, 2019, the middle of summer, another ship got stuck up there, too much ice.
  • In July, the ice was ten feet thick and chainsaws and the 20,000 horsepower engine of the boat in July could not allow the boat to push through.
  • According to Klassekampen, a Norwegian newspaper: “Polar bears were seen on Bjørnøya this past winter – located in the middle of the Barents Sea– which shows that the ice edge was very far south.”
Now keep in mind that Al Gore predicted that there was an excellent chance that the entire North Pole would be melted by about 20 years ago. Instead, boats engineered for ice stretches could not get through in the summer because the ice was too thick. Missed that forecast by a little bit, Al. For more global warming myth debunking by real scientists , not ex-politicians parading as real scientists, go to the following link:

2) We have often discussed how important a strong, aggressive, unbiased press is to a strong democracy. A strong press that acts in integrity, is the gatekeeper of truth and reality, both of which are needed to keep the political class in line and make sure our freedoms are not being endangered.

Unfortunately, the free press in the country today is anything but unbiased and in integrity. Various news entities have taken sides and present only news, and present it in a biased way, to support the side of the potential spectrum they are on. Rather than protect a democracy and the truth, they disdain democracy, reality, and truth, advocating for their own biased positions.

Unfortunately, such was the case in the aftermath of the Capital fiasco earlier this week. Rather than be an instrument of peace and try to understand all aspects and sides of a problem like real journalists, ABC News went all Nazi right out of the gate:
  • Rick Klein, of ABC News, said that: “Trump will be an ex-President in 13 days. The fact that getting rid of Trump is the easy part. Cleansing the movement he commands is going to be something else.”
  • He made this horrific statement via his Twitter account which he later deleted but not before screen shots were captured and circulated around the Internet.
  • He included his remarks in an official ABC News article, an article that was later edited to be less Nazi like.
Such cowardice, such ignorance of history. An American has a different political viewpoint of you and you immediately invoke the cleansing of Jews in 1930s Germany with your “cleansing” remarks. Put “ethnic” in front of cleansing and you have something Hitelr himself likely said. So sad that wanting the elimination of Americans exercising their First Amendment rights is now cause to have them exterminated.

3) The whole covid mess had been going on for at least ten months. The search for a vaccine has been going almost as long. Which means the political class knew that at some point in time there was going to be a need for a mass vaccination process to be implemented.

But the politicians in charge had time. Months and months of time to set up procedures, establish websites and social media accounts to promote and explain those vaccination procedures, set up the infrastructure that could be put into action as soon as the vaccinations were on their way.

They could have done all of that, a process that should have resulted in the quick, immediate and efficient distribution of the vaccine doses as they became available. Being this efficient would like save lives and prevent untold millions from getting the virus.

But alas, being efficient is not in the vocabulary or ability of most American politicians:
  • Nowhere has that failure been as evident than in New York state and New York City.
  • Despite having ready to go vaccine doses on hand, both the state and city governments screwed up completely in not having processes and procedures in place to quickly distribute the shots despite the lead time they had.
  • The New York Times pointed out that on a recent weekend day, more jets took off from JFK airport in NYC than doses of vaccines were distributed in the whole city.
  • The failure to efficiently distribute the vaccine has been so complete that many doses have had to be destroyed because they were past their useful life, i.e. life saving vaccines were thrown out because they could not be distributed quickly.
  • Of course, as always, New York Governor Cuomo, blamed everyone else but himself for the failure to get the doses out in time and in a timely manner.
  • After his administration took some severe heat for their failures, Cuomo decided it was not his fault, again, and blamed the local governments for their ineptness.
  • He blamed mayors like NYC’s de Blasio to manage the issue: “I need them to take personal responsibility for their hospitals. This is a management issue of the hospitals. They have to move the vaccine, and they have to move the vaccine faster.”
  • He has threatened hospitals with stiff fines because he failed to provide a process to get the vaccines out as soon as possible.
Again, no creativity, no plan, just bullying and endangering the lives of his constituents, much like he did early on when he forced nursing homes to mingle covid parents with healthy elderly residents.

Consider what was done in DC when the vaccine supply was about to expire: rather than throw out the spoiled vaccine doses, the city government encouraged health care providers to give doses to anyone who wanted it regardless of where they fell in the priority listing. Better to get vaccines out to anyone who could get it before the usefulness of the vaccine spoiled. Rather than work that great approach to maximize vaccination supplies, Cuomo, as is typical, just bellyached how he was not responsible. Typical politician attitude, blame everyone but themselves.

As a side note, I recently read an article that in the late 1940s, the return of smallpox to New York City obviously created a health emergency. Within one month of the first smallpox identification, the entire city population of NYC, 6 million people, had been vaccinated.

That is how incompetent today’s politicians and governments have become: 60 years ago 6 million are vaccinated in 30 days or so. Today, vaccines go bad before they can be used despite the government bureaucrats and politicians having nine months to come up with a plan. Insanity.

That will do it for today: another massive government failure and show of incompetency, the free press goes Nazi, and global warming advocates get stuck in massive ice jams… in the middle of the summer, proving again why it is sane to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science.

A Grand Proposal For A Grand Coalition To Restore Freedom In America

The following proposal to restore freedom and liberty in this country, two principles that are under attack by any number of sources, not the least of which is the American political class, is being mailed out this week. As freedom ebbs in this country, something dramatic has to be done to turn back the tide of oppression, unseat the entrenched, long term politicians whose first priority is self enrichment, and restore the Founders concepts embedded in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Your comments would be appreciated and if you agree with what the proposal sets forth, your support going forward would be great!

Good day. My name is Walter (“Bruno”) Korschek and I am just a regular American. I am not an employee or formally affiliated with any of the organizations listed above.

However, I have been a big fan of all of the listed organizations for a long time. I have been a Libertarian voter since Roger McBride ran in the 1970s. I have been a long time subscriber to Reason magazine and Cato. And I have enjoyed and been positively challenged by the work, the research, opinions, and publications of every organization listed above for many, many years.

Thus, I am an American who cherishes the idea of freedom and liberty, an ideal that I think is a common link among all of you and your organizations. I believe that the concept of America, with its foundation in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, has provided humanity the best chance ever to have regular folks like myself live in a free, safe, and prosperous country.

But as you and your organizations are well aware, that ideal of freedom is under attack as we speak, by an overreaching, entrenched, and corrupt American political class. Every freedom has been chipped away at over the years, be it freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to bear arms, freedom to gather, and freedom to not be dominated and bullied by government bureaucrats, rules, and regulations.

From the failure of Obama Care to excessive and draconian pandemic shutdowns and lock downs and to the obvious future failure of the New Green Deal, this loss of freedom cannot be justified by the gaining of wonderful new government services. Just about every government program and service, from the Federal government level to the local government level, eats up wealth, destroys freedom, and provides substandard services and results in return.

And this loss of freedom seems to be accelerating. Outrageous government debt will make future Americans economic slaves to this debt burden if nothing is done. Censorship in so many forms is growing more and more prevalent as those in charge form partnerships with a failed and corrupt mainstream press and tech companies to control information and news for the benefit of the elitists that operate those entities.

The chance of returning America to its roots of freedom, liberty, minimal government interference in our lives is becoming more and more difficult every day. Which is why I am writing to all of you. While I have the utmost respect for the work you and your organizations do, working independently of each other has not been enough to stem the tide of totalitarianism and political corruption in this country that is destroying the very fabric of freedom.

Thus, I am proposing a grand coalition of the organizations listed above, a coalition which is solely focused on restoring freedom to this country and its citizens. Working independently has proven your dedication to freedom but has not stemmed the tide of an ever growing attack on freedom. Working together may be the only hope in this country of moving the needle back towards liberty and away from darkness.

Think about what you each could bring to the table of this liberty coalition. There are political parties that already have the infrastructure in place to get on ballots. There are research and policy experts that can prove the value of freedom and the negatives of government dominance. You have journalists that can spread that research and policy information to the public. Together you would be so much stronger and effective than continuing to operate independently of each other.

Now, I realize that there might be differences of opinion on individual issues and matters. But there has to be some sort of overarching agreement and consensus on freedom and liberty that can be agreed on by all of you and put forth to the public. Every family has its own disagreements but the family usually stays together for the common, overriding good of everyone. Same with the coalition, find the common ground of liberty that you all share and handle the outlier issues later. Erect a freedom tent that would be broad enough to attract disaffected voters of all kinds under a common theme of restoring freedom to this country.

This does not mean you and your organizations cede your identities and individual organizational goals to this effort. Your unique identities and skills are what would make the coalition that much stronger. You each come at freedom from a unique and different perspective which would make that freedom tent broader and more powerful.

I am only a single American, I cannot make this happen, but I would make a few suggestions about the next steps:
  • This coalition and its structure, working principles, staffing, contributions, decision making process, etc. has to come together quickly, the ebbing away of freedom is not abating and thus, time is of the essence.
  • Being right, doing the proper analysis, having the most effective policy proposals, and putting forth great candidates for office, are all necessary to success but not a guarantee of success. While I did not vote for Donald Trump, I did recognize that he had a wonderfully simple but effective message that resonated with tens of millions of Americans, “Make America Great Again.” A similar message is required for this coalition, one that is simple but effective, easily understood but which conveys the deep need for change that this coalition would stand for. Smarter people than me are necessary to find that powerful theme and message.
  • The Presidential ticket that this coalition puts forth has to be identified and put into action as soon as possible. We cannot wait until the summer of 2024 to identify the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates this coalition will support, that is not enough time to get the message out. By then, the mainstream press and the tech companies would be that much stronger at suppressing alternative views. The candidates should be picked quickly, after a proper vetting process, and their work needs to begin now and continue on for the next four years.
I realize this is a pretty radical idea. You all have your own organization goals, objectives, and challenges. But remember, the concept of America was a pretty radical idea at one time and the Founders pulled it off in grand style. I can't think of any other way to beat back the attack on freedom, our lives, and the future of the country and generations that follow us.

America is in a dark place right now: divided, fighting among ourselves, being oppressed by a number of forces inside and outside of the country, and being served by a political class that care only about their long term tenure in office and the resultant self enrichment possibilities that come with “public service.” You all have the unique resources to come together and change the tide of darkness that now exists. I know of no other way or approach that can protect what the Founders created.

Sorry if I ran on a little long but I passionately believe that you and your organizations can make a gigantic positive difference in the future of this country if you work together. Put aside any minor differences you may have on an individual issue, that can be worked out later if we can all rally around the basic human need to be free. As a retired, middle class American I cannot make much of a difference. But I believe you and your organizations can change the world.

Thank you for your time and please continue the great work you do individually but also consider what you could accomplish if you took your talents, resources, and love of liberty into a grand coalition of freedom.

January, 2021, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: Politicians' "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" Syndrome Is Alive And Well, Kamala Harris Lies, and People Are Fleeing To Find Freedom

1) As we discussed many times, there are some major migration trends going on in this country. Many businesses and residents are tired of high taxes, high crime, and a lower quality of life and are doing what makes them and their families wealthier, freer, and safer.

An annual study from United Van Lines, the big moving company, tracks how this migration trend is playing out across the country. Their statistics show that the following 10 states had the highest inbound moving rate:
  1. Idaho
  2. South Carolina
  3. Oregon
  4. South Dakota
  5. Arizona
  6. North Carolina
  7. Tennessee
  8. Alabama
  9. Florida
  10. Arkansas
The following states had the highest outbound rates:
  1. New Jersey
  2. New York
  3. Illinois
  4. Connecticut
  5. California
  6. Kansas
  7. North Dakota
  8. Massachusetts
  9. Ohio
  10. Maryland
What is interesting is that in a recent post we predicted that New Jersey, New York, Illinois, California, or Connecticut were the most likely states to go bankrupt first. Not coincidentally these are the top five states losing people.

As more and more businesses and residents leave a state there is a reduction in the tax base and tax revenue stream. This requires the state’s politicians to raise taxes and reduce costs which makes police and fire less effective which reduces the quality of life and more people leave the state and the financial death spiral is in place.

2) Joe Biden was forced to drop out of the Presidential race decades ago because he was caught plagiarizing someone else’s work and passing it off as his own. And it seems like his Vice Presidential partner, Kamala Harris has the same affliction.

In a recent interview with Elle magazine, the would-be vice president recalled a time in which she attended a civil rights march as a young child: “At some point, she fell from the stroller (few safety regulations existed for children’s equipment back then), and the adults, caught up in the rapture of protest, just kept on marching. By the time they noticed little Kamala was gone and doubled back, she was understandably upset. ‘My mother tells the story about how I’m fussing,’ Harris says, ‘and she’s like, “Baby, what do you want? What do you need?” And I just looked at her and I said, “Fweedom.”’”

A heartwarming story until you realize that this story is almost identical to a story told by Martin Luther King, Jr. decades ago: “I never will forget a moment in Birmingham when a white policeman accosted a little Negro girl, seven or eight years old, who was walking in a demonstration with her mother,” King Jr. told Playboy magazine at the time. “‘What do you want?’ the policeman asked her gruffly, and the little girl looked him straight in the eye and answered, ‘Fee-dom.’ She couldn’t even pronounce it, but she knew. It was beautiful! Many times when I have been in sorely trying situations, the memory of that little one has come into my mind, and has buoyed me.”

Obviously she ripped off Reverend King which leads one to doubt anything else she says going forward, given that she faked this life story. But an untrustworthy politician? Nothing new to see here.

3) One of the most important tenets of freedom in this country is the guarantee of due process. No government entity should be able to intervene in anyone’s life and restrict their freedom without getting a fair hearing in front of impartial judgment entities. Without this guarantee of due process, a country’s residents are at the mercy of government politicians and bureaucrats that may have their own personal vendettas and objectives even if it smashes someone’s due process right.

The most notorious example of this freedom abuse was being a Jew in Nazi Germany. Without due process, millions of residents were forcibly taken from their homes and lives and shipped out to horrendous death and work camps.

Which is what should be kept in mind when we discuss how a New York state politician wants to do the same thing in New York:
  • New York state assemblyman, N. Nick Perry, has introduced legislation that would allow the governor or a designated surrogate to pull individuals out of their homes, if it was suspected they may have contagious illness, and put them in detention centers.
  • No due process, no hearing, yanked out of your home because you may have a disease
  • Perry tried to defend his proposed law: “This bill was initially introduced to address public health concerns related to the containment of the Ebola virus after it was discovered that Ebola-infected persons had entered the United States. I am an American who understands our Constitution is sacred, and provides us with the right to agree or disagree, and hold different positions on issues that may relate to our civil and constitutional rights … There is no intent, no plan, or provisions in my bill to take away, or violate any rights, or liberties that all Americans are entitled to under our Constitution, either state or federal.”
A very, very dangerous and slippery slope. This bill would in fact criminalize being sick and give unfettered power to the executive branch of the state government that could so easily be abused by power hungry, freedom-hating and petty politicians. The bill actually states that the governor could do just about anything at “his or her discretion”: ”[T]he governor or his or her delegee may, in his or her discretion, issue and seek enforcement of any other orders that he or she determines are necessary or appropriate to prevent dissemination or transmission of contagious diseases … to require an individual who has been exposed to or infected by a contagious disease to complete an appropriate, prescribed course of treatment, preventive medication or vaccination…Such person or group of persons shall be detained in a medical facility or other appropriate facility or premises designated by the governor or his or her delegee…”

Words like detain, discretion, enforcement, are not compatible with a free society.

4) We have talked often about how hypocritical American politicians are today with an attitude, “do as I say, not as I do”, a permanent part of their genetic makeup. This has been so obvious during the covid pandemic where politicians across the country have forced Americans into hibernation, locked down in their own homes, forced to lose their jobs and livelihoods, etc. to combat the virus.

But while Americans were forced to suffer, politicians went about their normal lives by going to hair salons, nail salons, gyms, parties, restaurants, parks etc. in defiance of their own edicts. To this list of violating their own rules, they added this latest twist to do as I say, not as I do:
  • Gwen Moore is a Congresswoman from Wisconsin.
  • On December 28, she tested positive for the virus.
  • As such, she should have gone into quarantine like every other American infected with the disease would be forced to do and not go out, travel, or go to work for the fear of infecting others.
  • But she violated the accepted CDC quarantine orders and went to Washington to vote on a matter, namely voting for the next Speaker of the House.
  • Current Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, was in danger of losing that position and needed every House vote she could get and Moore was one of those votes.
  • Thus, both Moore and Pelosi are culpable in endangering others by having Moore travel to Washington to vote for Pelosi.
  • A special medical area had to be set up in the House so that she could vote so it appears that she was violating CDC guidelines, otherwise, why the special protective area?
Imagine if a regular American had violated the guidelines, especially if they lived in New York. State politicians would drag that person away to a detention center and make them a criminal.

5) At the height of the pandemic in the spring, Nancy Pelosi thought it would be a good idea to give a tour of her house, showing off her $20,000+ kitchen refrigerator that was stuffed with very expensive, elitist ice cream pints. As Americans were suffering from the virus, lockdowns, lost jobs and wages, and depression, she is flitting about national television showing off her wealth and elitism of gourmet ice cream.

But she is not alone in this ignorance of suffering Americans in a time of crisis:
  • Since Congress rarely gets anything done right and quickly, the latest discussions about a second economic stimulus program is no exception.
  • The debate about this second effort seems to have been going on for months, as Americans suffered, with one of the main sticking points being whether to send Americans a $600 or a $2000 stimulus check.
  • In the midst of this inaction and suffering, Senator John Cornyn decided to go out for dinner.
  • By the way, the good Senator was against sending a $2,000 check to struggling american families.
  • No big deal until he decided to share his dining experience with the world, including pictures of his meal, a dining experience at a very expensive restaurant that included a meal that cost $125.
So while Americans are struggling putting food on the table for their families, the Senator is showing off his wealth and “do as I say not as I do” attitude in the form of outrageously expensive meals.

There you have the latest political class insanity and their attitudes to the rest of us: I am dining out on high end, expensive steaks while ignoring the suffering of the rest of you, covid quarantine rules do not apply to us but we want to be able to come into your home and drag you off to a detention center without due process, we continue to lie about our life experiences, and it seems our ignorance and arrogance is driving you away.

Failure Of The American Political Class To Execute a Basic Function Of Government - Protecting the Lives and Property Of Citizens

One of the very, very basic functions of government is to protect the lives and properties of residents and businesses within its domain. By providing a police force, a judicial system, and a penal system, it fulfills its primary role of protection. If a government entity can provide those services in a just, fair way than anything else they can do positive is gravy.

Unfortunately, more and more government entities across the country cannot even fulfill this basic function. Crime is rising dramatically in certain parts of the country, endangering the lives, safety and property of millions of Americans. Consider a sampling of this failure below:

1) According to a recent article on the National Pulse website, homicides in Washington D.C. have hit a 15 year high:
  • Homicides in the District have risen three years in a row.
  • Almost 200 residents were killed for the first time in the past decade.
  • Over 900 people were shot in the past year, up 64% over the past three years.
  • And as the Washington Post pointed out, it wasn't only gang members and criminals: victims included a school bus driver, a construction worker renovating a home, a grandmother who survived a bout of covid, and a young boy shot at a “stop the violence” cookout.
  • In the midst of this, the mayor set aside limited taxpayer dollars to paint the city streets with a “Black Lives Matter” symbol.
How many other idiotic projects did the city government waste money on that could have been better spent protecting the lives of city residents? Would that young boy still be alive if taxpayer money was spent on protection and not street paintings? Such bad, bad priorities.

2) We have often talked about the substantial and recent increase in the New York City crime rate, an increase that is helping to drive more and more residents and businesses out of the city. And the mayor and governor of the state do not seem to have an plan to fix this problem which was probably really driven home to the governor’s office by a recent NYC attack:
  • In broad daylight on Christmas, a NYC homeless man took up a brick and bashed the head of a passerby for no reason.
  • What made this crime infamous is that the victim, Lisa Cavanaugh, is a staff member of Governor Cuomo’s staff.
  • The run up to the attack was caught on video.
  • The attack to the head knocked her unconscious. Fortunately two other passerbys called the police and came to her aid.
  • Fortunately, besides a deep gash that required stitches to close up, the last news reports said she was in satisfactory condition.
  • The attacker was arrested and charged with a felony.
  • In the first 11 months of 2020, shootings in NYC were up 95% year over year, homicides were up 38%, burglaries were up 30%, and carjackings were up 36%, according to reporting by the Blaze.
Given this lessening ability to protect the innocent in society, New York state has led the country in having the most residents leave the state in the July, 2019 to July, 2020 time period.

3) A recent article on the News America Patriot website discussed the reality that when the city politicians in Oakland, California started to defund the police department...crime went up! Who saw that coming:
  • Back in July, the Oakland City council unanimously voted to form a 17 person task force to study how to defund the police department.
  • The objective is to reduce the police force budget by a mind boggling 50%.
  • And they were not going to reduce it by 50% over time, they wanted to do it inside of two years.
  • But since then, even before the 50% cut back, crime of all sorts has surged in the city
  • As a result and not surprising, the city politicians are out of touch with what their voters actually want to see happen, since according to the San Francisco Chronicle: “A poll released last week by the Chamber of Commerce showed that citywide, 58% of residents want to either maintain or increase the size of the police force. That figure climbs to 75% in District 7, an area of East Oakland where gunfire exploded this summer.”
  • Further, the poll found that black residents wanted to increase the size of the police force even more than white residents.
  • The paper reported a recent incident where 60 rounds were fired in the middle of the city and no one was arrested.
More clueless politicians not doing their basic, basic job of protecting lives and property.

4) Minneapolis was one of the first cities to actually defund the police department in their city. But almost immediately things got so bad that city council members, the ones who actually downsized the police and endangered citizen lives in the process, immediately used taxpayer money to hire private, armed security guards to protect them from the crime wave they unleashed.

But proving there is still no cure for stupid the politicians want to take it a step further:
  • Three council members have introduced a plan called “Safety 4 All.”
  • Which is really ironic since the program calls for cutting $8 million out of the city police department budget next year.
  • This would prevent the city government from hiring police on department personnel to replace the many officers who resigned or retired in light of the non-support they were receiving from city politicians.
  • And this $8 million cut to the police budget is on top of a $12 million cut that the Mayor has already proposed.
Carjackings are way up in the city, murders and shootings are way up, property crime is way up and these folks want to further reduce the police department. Insanity.

5) Warner Todd Huston, writing for the Great American Politics website on January 1, 2012, went through the statistics of how much crime has risen as the movement to defund police departments took hold in some cities in the country:
  • According to CNN, murders in NYC are up 23% in the final months of 2020.
  • Homicides in Chicago are up 39% since the end of June.
  • Homicides in LA are up 23%.
  • Crime analyst, Jeff Asher, looked at data from 51 cities and found that murders are up almost 36% over 2019.
  • According to the Council on Criminal Justice: “Homicide rates increased by 42% during the summer and 34% in the fall over the summer and fall of 2019.”
  • Shootings are up 127% in NYC.
  • At least one NYC councilman, Rovert Holden, at least recongizes how stupid the defund the police movement is: “Defunding the police is perhaps the worst idea in NYC government history. We can’t legislate using fashionable slogans that fit on protest signs. It hurts every New Yorker. The NYPD are the gold standard for law enforcement around the world. Any issues that need to be addressed require more training, which costs money.”
  • He went on to say: “We have had well over 1,000 shootings this year. The deadly combination of closing Rikers, getting rid of cash bail, defunding the police and putting them under the fear of going to jail if they need to apprehend a violent suspect are all part of a pro-crime atmosphere that emboldens violent criminals.”
While politicians lie, the numbers do not. The defund the police department has resulted in city politicians neglecting one of their most basic responsibilities: protecting the lives and property of their constituents.
