April, 2025, Part 7, Political Class Insanity: Congressional Hypocrisy, Congressional Criminality, Food Bank Corruption, and More

More insanity from the American political class, it never ends:

1)We have previously discussed the massive waste of taxpayer wealth that has been going on in Washington. They have spent billions of taxpayer dollars on such nonsense as putting on a Seamare Street play in Iraq, tourism in Egypt, sex change operations in Guatemala, and hundreds of other stupid expenditures.

But it  is  not just in DC that taxpayer wealth is getting washed everyday:

  • The Foodbank of Southern California is a food bank in Long Beach, California.

  • Organizations like this should be fulfilling a crucial role in society since there are about 770,000 homeless Americans on the streets today and hundreds of thousands of them  are in California.

  • And apparently the Foodbank Of Southern California has been doing this function for a while.

  • But a lawsuit has been filed that alleges that $11 million in taxpayer dollars was misused and abused.

  • The allegation is that former CEO, Jeanne Cooper, and her spouse, Lamarr Ramsey, used $228,000 of food bank funds at Best Buy, Home Depot, and AT&T for their own needs.

  • They also routed thousands of food bank funds to phantom transportation and repair expenses through family members.

  • They also used funds for Christmas decor and a smartwatch.

  • In total, ten current or former board members have been implicated in the misuse of funds.

And while the funds have been diverted to personal uses, homeless folks in the state continue to struggle for food and shelter. Makes you wonder how many other programs and organizations are receiving government funds and their operators are also skimming dollars off of the top.

Given that the major social problems in the state keep getting worse and worse, I think the answer is pretty obvious.

2)One of the major problems of our time is the reality that over 100,000 Americans die every year from drug addiction overdoses. This problem was not helped by Biden’s failed immigration policy as he opened up the borders and illegal poisonous drugs, especially fentanyl, flooded over the border into every state in the union.

But recently, as a result of Biden not being in office any more, there was a major victory in the war against illegal drugs:

  • The USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul Navy combat ship made its maiden voyage.

  • And the ship and its crew scored a big success by intercepting and seizing $12 million worth of illegal drugs on its maiden voyage.

  • The haul included 580 kilograms of cocaine, more than half a ton, and 2,480  pounds of marijuana, more than a ton.

A small victory and success in the massive Federal government bureaucracy, a success that quite possibly saved American lives. Too bad most other government programs were as successful as soon.

3)Bernie Sanders is the closest thing to a socialist in Congress. For years. He has lamented about wealthy Americans keeping the masses poor and downtrodden and that somehow his socialist and communist policies would fix the inequities. He preaches this stuff even though he is  actually in the upper echelon of wealth in this country.

His hypocrisy was recently reinforced:

  • The Washington  Free Beacon recently reported that Sanders' campaign organization, “Friends of Bernie Sanders,” spent $221,723 on private charter jets to fly Sanders around the country for his “Fighting Oligarchy Tour.”

  • Additionally repulsive was this money was spent in just three months.

  • So why talking about common folks like us and how evil wealthy people are, he is jetting around the country on private jets.

  • Michael Bloomberg, former politician and former mayor of NYC,  nicely described Sanders’ hypocrisy back in 2020: “The best known socialist in the country happens to be a millionaire with three houses.”

Another day, another Washington hypocrite.

4)And Washington is not just full  of hypocrites, it also has its share of criminals:

  • Former Congressman, George Santos, was recently sentenced to 87 months in Federal prison.

  • He had previously pleaded guilty to wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft.

  • He not only got prison time but was also court ordered to repay $374,000 to his victims.

  • The sentencing judge did not have a lot of sympathy for Santos: Where is the remorse? I don’t relish sending people to jail but Mr. Santos is fully deserving of this sentence.”

Given that another former member of Congress, Robert Menendez, was also sentenced to jail time for his corruption and crimes, it is not a good integrity trend for Congress these days.

5)Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez has been tagging along with Bernie Sanders on his Fighting Oligarchy Tour and her hypocrisy is also been uncovered as a result:

  • Like Sanders, she has been railing against wealthy people even though,  like Sanders, she has been jetting around the country in private jets.

  • We as a community must choose and vote for Democrats and elected officials who know how to stand for the working class,” Ocasio-Cortez said at a recent rally even though she was recently photographed existing a Bombardier Challenger 604, a luxury aircraft designed for private use with a between $5 million and $7 million price tag.

  • But her hypocrisy on rich people might be minor compared to potential  financial missteps she has alleged to have made.

  • She may have used a taxpayer funded Congressional office budget for dance training.

  • An independent government watchdog, Americans for Public Trust, also accused her of using taxpayer money for campaign expenses, a no-no.

  • “Representative Ocasio-Cortez’s troubling payments from her taxpayer funded account for activities such as dance classes should be investigated. In the era of reining in government spending, the American people deserve to know lawmakers are being good stewards of their tax dollars,” Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust, previously said.

Private jets for politicians lamenting the wealthy and privileged, former Congress members going to jail, taxpayer money for dance lessons, taxpayer stealing food bank money for private use, and one small success story. Seems the taxpayers are still losing.
