We have spent a lot of our recent posts discussing how DOGE and Trump are identifying and eliminating the stupid and wasteful spending of the Federal government. However, that does not mean that the American political class had stopped doing stupid and inane things, be it wasting taxpayer wealth, enriching themselves and family members, implementing stupid government programs, etc.
We usually called these failures “political class insanity.” Thus, let’s catch up on the insanity that American politicians have continued to indulge in:
1)The Constitution and Bill of Rights should guarantee freedom along many different dimensions. But apparently, the Biden administration did not think that applied to them:
During the Biden administration, within the State Department, was an organization called the Global Engagement Center (GEC).
In theory, it was supposed to keep track of foreign nations’ moves and actions in order to protect U.S. citizens.
However, over time it devolved into a government spying effort of American citizens, the very people it was supposed to be protecting.
And it was spying on Americans at a cost of $50 million a year.
Fortunately, Congress decided to shut down this unauthorized and disgusting spying on innocent Americans.
However, the Biden administration decided it liked spying on Americans and created a new organization called the “Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and interference” office.
But this new organization had the same personnel, the same office space, the same budget, the same everything of the GEC, i.e., Biden decided that the Constitution and the will of Congress did not matter, he wanted to continue to spy on Americans.
Fortunately, current Secretary of State , Marco Rubio, saw the renamed organization for what it was and promised to shut it down completely. A victory for freedom, but a reminder that the Federal government has gotten so big, so out of control and it endangers our freedom in so many ways.
2)Many Democrats and liberals always claim to be the tolerant segment of society and that everyone else is racist, homophobic, etc. And Chicago mayor, Brandon Johnson, is no different:
He recently bragged that he exclusively hires black individuals, not choosing the best candidate.
He asserted that he only hires black employees because they are “the most generous people on the planet.”
Specifically: "There are detractors that will push back on me and say, you know, the only thing that the mayor talks about is the hiring of black people. No, what I’m saying is, when you hire our people, we always look out for everybody else. We are the most generous people on the planet."
Rather than employing the best qualified people for city government positions, be they black, white, brown, or green, he has the racist attitude that black people are the most generous and should be hired because of the color of their skin, not because they are the most talented and qualified.
Given that his approval rating is the lowest in the history of the city and the city of Chicago is going down the drain, maybe his racist hiring practices are not working.
3)Recently an illegal immigrant from Egypt crashed a gathering of Jewish people and bombarded them with Molotov cocktails, sending fifteen innocent American citizens to the hospital with injuries. Truly, a terrorist attack by again, an illegal immigrant.
In support of those injured, a resolution was recently passed by the House Of Representatives that condemned the antisemetic firebombing during the peaceful pro-Israel event in Boulder, Colorado. Very simple, and thoughtful, caring gesture.
And yet, over 100 Democrats in the House voted against the resolution. As we have pointed out many times, a very, very basic function of any government entity is to protect the lives and property of the citizens it serves. And yet, over 100 leaders of the country insulted and defamed the fifteen Americans that were attacked and injured for no reason except for practicing their First Amendment rights.
Thus, these people cannot get past partisan politics and approve a simple, caring gesture to offer support to the injured Americans as witnessed by one of the dissenters, Hakeem Jeffries: “It’s not a serious effort, It weaponizes antisemitism for partisan purposes.”
Their hate for Trump has castrated away their humanity and that is disgusting.
4)As we have pointed out hundreds of times in this blog, the American political class is very good at spending a lot of taxpayer money, missing their deadlines, and never delivering what they promise when they put forth projects and programs. And their ineptness continues even after they leave office:
Like many Presidents before him, Obama wanted a library to be built in his honor and his Presidency.
It was to be built in south Chicago.
And yet, nine years after he left office, this monument to himself is still not complete.
The cost of construction was initially supposed to be $500 million.
However, the latest estimate is currently at $830 million.
The date for completion has slipped any number of times and now stands at spring, 2027.
The weather has actually been advanced as a very lame reason for the delays, a weak excuse if there ever was one.
In addition to the incompetence of the building process, the site was a problem from day one since it covered 19 acres and caused the displacement of many neighborhood residents, sparked concerns about pollution, traffic congestion, and other environmental issues.
Since the project was required to be DEI focused, the best contractors were not hired based on ability but on DEI criteria.
As a result, a worker has already died on the job, concrete had to be re-poured, walls did not line up, steel was misplaced or stolen, and engineers uncovered structural problems.
Multiple lawsuits are underway related to contractors for various reasons, one of which is for $40 million.
Whether it was the Big Dig in Boston, the high speed train in California, and now the Obama Presidential library, we have been stuck with the bill as taxpayers for the inability of the American political class to do anything right, on budget, and on time.
Plus, who cares about these Presidential vanity projects? In the big picture, very few Americans will visit this or any other Presidential library. Yet tens of millions of Americans are homeless, hungry, in need of drug addiction treatment, and cannot afford health insurance. I am pretty sure that $860 million could have been a far better tribute to helping Americans in need than building an ugly concrete tribute to a non-descript Presidency.
Enough insanity for today: the Obama library disaster, not even a simple gesture of support for Americans victimized by terrorism, the Chicago mayor shows his racist stripes and Biden spied on just about everyone in the country.
