We have spent a lot of blog time recently on trying to figure out which state or city government will go bankrupt first and the massive amount of criminal fraud that exists within many government programs. However, that does not mean that other, regular political class insanity has stopped:
1)As readers of this blog know as followers of Nick Shirley’s great work in exposing government fraud, it seems that the epicenter of government fraud always leads back to Minnesota. Dozens and dozens of Minnesota residents, many of them Somali immigrants, have already been found guilty or pleaded guilty to defrauding taxpayer funded government programs.
And this flood of fraud has caused the current governor, Tim Walz, to not seek another term as governor. For months he downplayed the reality of the fraud in the state but recently kind of acknowledged what we all know:
- He was recently interviewed by the Minnesota Star-Tribune.
- And after denying there was massive fraud going on under his nose during his administration he finally acknowledged that he “should have stopped it [fraud] sooner.”
Specifically, “We didn’t stop them. I accept that. I think there does need to be accountability with that. And part of it is that, yep, that’s with me, I’ll step aside.”
He then tried to deflect the massive fraud by referring to supposed other accomplishments such as climate, livability, etc.
However, state senator Julia Coleman was not going to let Walz get away with his own self celebration: “We should remember him spending our $18 billion surplus, raising taxes $10 billion, creating an unsustainable budget, letting rioters burn down Minneapolis, hurting our students and businesses with lockdowns and pardoning a child rapist.”
Massive wasting of taxpayer money, massive fraud, unfettered rioting, what a waste of a politician.
2)Speaking of a waste of a politician, consider an idiotic remark out of a Michigan candidate for Senate:
For background, understand that the University of Michigan college football has been a long running fixture in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
There are on average 8 home football games played evey year at their huge on campus stadium.
Those football games create huge economic gains for the businesses in the city and surrounding area when over 100,000 fans go to the games.
And yet, Democratic candidate for Senate from Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, thinks that the University of Michigan football team is bad for local housing.
Specifically, Michigan football games and their fans make the local housing situation worse: “The problem with that is this: we are a tourist destination. You know why we are a tourist destination? Football Saturdays. So, there’s a lot of folks who have extra capital to spend, who will use a corporation like Airbnb or Vrbo, will buy a housing unit that should have been affordable or available for somebody like you, and then they take it off the market. Which artificially depresses the supply of housing.”
As with most political rantings, he apparently provided no data or statistics on how many housing units are off the market because of eight football games a year. And would it be worth the lost jobs, lost tourism dollars, lost economic impact to shut down eight football games a year to free up a minimal number of local housing units?
Also, how bad of an economic decision would it be to purchase a home worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to rent it out maybe eight weekends a year and leave it vacant for the other 44 weeks?
Which brings us back to that age old question: do politicians think we are that stupid when they say idiotic things like this or are they actually that stupid and ignorant? We may never know.
3)Democrats in Congress have been hell-bent for a long time to pass the SAVE Act, a piece of Federal legislation that would require a government id to vote. Voting is possibly the purest expression of freedom in this country and it is now generally known that voting processes corruption is widespread, with the fraud riddled election of Joe Biden the prime, but not only example of major voter fraud in this country.
The SAVE Act would be a major step forward to safeguarding voting process integrity. And the concept is supported by a wide majority of Americans across all age, sex, and political affiliation sectors.
And yet Democrats continue to stonewall the effort. But apparently they are alright with requiring a government id for far less important government functions:
Mayor Zohran Mamdani of New York City wants to spend a whopping $70 million to open only five city government grocery stores in New York City.
That concept in itself could take up several blog posts but we can come back to that insanity inthefuture.
The concept is that a wide variety of healthy food options would be discounted 30% for city residents so it would make buying food in the city less expensive.
Given a big discount of 30%, it would seem logical for non-city residents to make a trip into the city and shop at one of these city grocery stores for the bargain on these food items.
But they will not be able to do so since Mamdani announced that, gasp, you would have to have a government issued id to shop in these city stores.
Yes, Democrats are vehemently against protecting freedom and voting process integrity by not requiring an id to vote but are going to require a government id to buy some bananas.
The hypocrisy is amazing. Bananas need an id, voting does not need an id. Of course, a black market for fake supermarket city ids will almost immediately appear which would allow non-city residents to get the 30% discount. Also, people outside of the city will use their city friends’ ids to shop at one of the five stores. Insanity.
4)Just as an id to the above government id insanity consider other pieces of your life where you need a government id:
To drive a car
Visit a doctor
Pick up drug prescriptions
Travel on a commercial airline
Buy a gun
Open or close a bank account
Get a mortgage or rent an apartment
Buy alcohol
Buy tobacco
Buy medical marijuana
Rent a car
Rent a hotel room
Purchase health insurance
Donate blood
Get a hunting or fishing license
Get married or divorced
Get a document notarized
And buy bananas at a New York City government supermarket.
And yet democrats think that showing a valid government id when voting is racist and not necessary.
5)One last piece of sad insanity for today:
Anthony Fauci was the leading government figure during the Covid pandemic.
He promised us that if we took the untested vaccines he was pushing, the virus would stop with us, helping to slow down the spread of the disease, and we would not catch the virus.
Of course, time showed none of this was true, probably just about everyone who got the vaccine and the boosters eventually caught the disease, some of us more than once.
And unfortunately, the virus apparently caused heart problems and deaths of perfectly normal people, many of them who were healthy and young and had no history of heart problems.
And now we find out that he secretly had worries about the potential impact the untested vaccines would have on pregnant women.
Text messages that were recently uncovered and released from Fauci’s cellphone shows a discussion with co-workers that fever after the second dose “theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester.”
But in later public remarks Fauci claimed that there was nothing to worry about when it came to vaccinating pregnant women despite his previous private conversations to the contrary.
Even if there was no negative link of the vaccine for pregnant women, that concern, no matter how minor, should have been made public, allowing couples and pregnant women to decide for themselves on when and if to take the vaccine.
Given that his other proclamations now ring hollow, e.g. take the virus and you will not get sick, this hiding of a theoretical cause and effect reinforces the perception that he was more concerned with his image than actual results and scientific analyses. This hiding of concerns and false declarations now raise doubts in future crises of whether or not Americans are getting the truth and the whole truth from the federal government.
Okay, enough insanity for today: more Covid doubts from the government, the Democrats’ hypocrisy on government ids and voting, Michigan football games destroying a local real estate market, and an incompetent governor finally bows out and the state is probably better for the ouster.
