August, 2021, Part 6, Political Class Insanity: Failing The Homeless In California, Andrew Cuomo's Covid Lies, and Elevator Music Insanity In Quebec

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) The American political class does do a few things very well, none of which benefit us:
  • They find ways to enrich themselves while in office far above and beyond what they earn in salary.
  • They are incredible hypocrites, “do as I say, not as I do.”
  • They always find ways of spending a lot of taxpayer wealth but never delivering the promised benefits from those expenditures.
That last point was recently proven again, relative to politicians trying to solve the ever growing homeless problem in California, specifically in San Francisco and Los Angeles:
  • Voters in both California cities approved bond and spending plans to address the housing shortage for homeless citizens.
  • In San Francisco, their plan was to place homeless folks in tent camps where they would have tent shelters, meals, showers, and social services.
  • City voters approved the $300 million initiative which resulted in the largest tax increase in the city’s history.
  • The funny thing about this spending initiative, the city politicians were actually against it since, according to Reason magazine, they viewed the tax hike as “excessive and that the plan for spending all that money was vague and lacked accountability.”
  • As unbelievable as it sounds, the politicians were actually right.
  • The program has resulted in the city annually paying about $61,000 a year PER homeless person to get that person a tent shelter.
  • This $61,000 comes out to over $5,000 per month which is over $2,000 more per month than the average cost of a full apartment in the city.
  • Think about that: the city’s program is spending much more to give a homeless person a tent to live in than putting them in an apartment in the city.
  • Also, $61,000 a year is more than what the average American household earns annually.
  • Los Angeles didn't do much better from an efficient spending of taxpayer dollars perspective.
  • That city approved a whopping $1.2 billion bond issue to house homeless folks in that city.
  • The first piece of insanity was that the plan was to use that money to build 10,000 housing units within ten years, a plan that comes to a whopping cost of $120,000 per housing unit.
  • So not only was the cost to shelter a homeless person so high ($120,000), the auditors of the program found that five years into the ten year project only 700 housing units had been completed, only 7%.
  • And finally, there are about 65,000-70,000 homeless people in Los Angeles which means this $1.2 billion program would have only housed about 15% of the city’s homeless population, assuming the 10,000 housing units were actually completed.
  • Given the program, after five years, has only 700 shelter spaces, this $1.2 billion program has helped only about 1% of the city’s homeless problem.
So sad, so much money spent and very few people helped. And those that did see a benefit from these programs that benefit came at an incredibly expensive cost to the taxpayers.

2) No American politician has fallen so far and so hard than recently resigned New York governor, Andrew Cuomo. But it is not like he deserved it, resignation, given has abhorrent behavior over the past few years:
  • He was accused of allegedly sexually harassing upwards of 12 women, the accusation that directly led to his resignation.
  • He may have also misused government regulations and employees to get a multi-million dollar book deal to tout his actions during the pandemic’s early days.
  • His administration may have filed false covid reports with the Federal government, possibly breaking Federal laws.
  • He forced New York nursing homes to accept covid infected elderly citizens into their facilities which resulted in tens of thousands of elderly New Yorkers unnecessarily perishing from covid.
Pretty despicable behavior from a career politician. And things just got worse from a covid death perspective:
  • The new New York governor, Kathy Hochul, revealed on her first day in office that Cuomo’s administration may have under reported covid deaths by 12,000 victims.
  • This brought New York state covid fatalities up to almost 55,400 victims.
  • According to Hochul:“We’re now releasing more data than had been released before publicly, so people know the nursing home deaths and the hospital deaths are consistent with what’s being displayed by the CDC. There’s a lot of things that weren’t happening and I’m going to make them happen. Transparency will be the hallmark of my administration.”
  • Cuomo’s elderly death counts only included covid deaths reported in hospitals, nursing homes, and adult care facilities but incorrectly ignored state covid deaths that occurred in other locations like folks’ homes, prisons, and hospice.
  • Obviously, when you under count the deaths, it makes Cuomo look like his administration was doing a much better job at handling the pandemic than he actually was.
And politicians wonder why people don't trust what they say or what government agencies say. Another example of government lies and political deceptions, behaviors that occur even when it involves death.

3) We usually talk about the inane behavior of American politicians but we have often seen how politicians and government bureaucrats around the world are also just as bad as our politicians. Canada has had a rough time lately as it relates to the covid pandemic. Lagging vaccination rates, closed borders, restrictive traveling, etc. along with the economic downturns that accompanied the covide virus spread.

And according to a recent Reason magazine blurb, Canadian government officials have bad priorities just like their American counterparts:
  • Quebec, Canada’s Culture Ministry has ordered that all music played on elevators in the province can only be music performed by local artists in the province.
  • Economic downturn, citizens getting sick and dying, and the government is spending time and resources on this nonsense.
  • But it gets better since this inane decree also applies to province government buildings, government owned liquor stores, and government owned casinos.
  • How many government employees worked on this nonsense, how much did it cost, and what costs did it impose on Canadian citizens. Just a waste of time and taxpayer wealth.
That will do it for today: more covid lies from Cuomo, more bad priorities for politicians around the world, and still fishing the taxpayers and homeless in California.

August, 2021, Part 2, Political Class Insanity: More "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" Hypocrisy and Biden Gets Touchy And Feely Again

1) American politicians have to be one of the most hypocritical segments of the American population, “do as I say, not as I do” types. During the pandemic we discussed the fact that many politicians implemented stringent lockdown rules and edicts but then went out and violated the very rules they require of everyone else. They are willing to defund the police and reduce our protection from criminals but then go and hire private security guards, usually using taxpayer money, to protect themselves.

And Joe Biden is no different relative to a fellow politician:
  • As most people know, about a dozen women have come forward and accused New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, of sexual harassment and assault.
  • A recent report by the New York Attorney General concluded that these are mostly true accusations and the governor may have violated both Federal and state laws against sexual harassment.
  • Many Democrats have publicly called for Cuomo to resign including Joe Biden.
  • Biden had previously stated that Cuomo should resign if the accusations prove true.
  • With the latest report published, he was recently asked about his assertion to which he replied, “I stand by that statement….Listen, I’m not gonna flyspeck this. I am sure that there were some embraces that were totally innocent, but apparently the attorney general decided there were things that weren’t.”
  • According to the report: “Cuomo harassed multiple women, many of whom were young women, by engaging in unwanted groping, kisses, hugging, and by making inappropriate comments,” according to Attorney General Leticia James. The behavior showed a “pattern,” the investigators said, they “found all 11 women to be credible.”
So it does not look good for Cuomo and Biden was probably right to call for his resignation. But if Cuomo should resign, shouldn’t Biden also resign in order to not be a hypocrite? Consider a previous discussion we had in this blog regarding Biden’s disgusting history of being a sexual predator:
  • Tara Reade - Ms. Reade has accused Biden of sexually assaulting her in a hallway when she worked for him back in 1993. She accuses him of pinning her against a wall, shoving his hands up her skirt and penetrating her. There are five people who have come forward to say she had told them about the assault at the time. There is also a video from Larry King’s CNN show back then that allegedly contains a phone call made into the show by Ms. Reade’s mom, describing the attack and asking for advice on how to go forward. Biden has refused access to his Senate papers, which are stored at the University of Delaware, papers which may contain the original complaint that Reade filed.
  • Lucy Flores - Ms. Flores, a former assemblywomen from Nevada has accused Biden of touching and kissing her without her permission: “I felt two hands on my shoulders. I froze. “Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?” I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified. I thought to myself, “I didn’t wash my hair today and the vice-president of the United States is smelling it. And also, what in the actual fuck? Why is the vice-president of the United States smelling my hair?” He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head.”
  • Amy Lappos - Ms. Lappos has claimed that Biden grabbed at her during a 2009 fundraiser: "It wasn’t sexual, but he did grab me by the head. He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth.”
  • Vail Kohnert-Yount - When Ms. Kohnert-Yount was a White House intern in 2013, Biden “put his hand on the back of [her] head and pressed his forehead to [her] forehead’ when he introduced himself, and that he called her a ‘pretty girl.’”
  • Caitlyn Caruso - During a spring, 2016 conference on sexual assault, Ms. Caruso claims that Biden put his hand on her thigh for “an uncomfortable amount of time.”
  • D.J. Hill - Ms. Hill Claims that Biden got so handsy with her that her husband had to step in: “Writer D. J. Hill told the Times that Biden moved his hand from Caruso’s shoulder down her lower back, which made her uncomfortable at an event, causing her husband to intervene.” This incident was reported by the New York Times, certainly a Democratic loving newspaper.
  • Sofie Karasek - At the 2016 Oscars, Ms. Karasek described her interactions with Biden and that he had violated her personal space.
  • Ally Coll - Ms. Coll claims that Biden made her very uncomfortable at a 2008 reception by touching her without permission, squeezing her shoulders, and complimenting her on her smile, all of which went on for an uncomfortably long time.
  • Not included in the Breitbart list is the latest accuser, Eva Murray. Ms. Murray recounted an incident back in 2008 when she was 14 years old. This allegedly happened at an annual political event in Delaware. Biden asked Ms. Murray how old she was and she answered she was 14 years old, Biden complimented her on how big her breasts were for a girl so young, that she “was well endowed.” Ms. Murray claimed that he looked her up and down while making the comment: “I remember walking into the lobby and being in awe of all the people in such fancy clothes. Our two parties of people gravitated towards each other and everyone started saying their hellos. When it was Biden and my aunt’s turn to say hello he quickly turned to me and asked how old I was. I replied with my age and he replied with the comment ‘Fourteen? You’re very well endowed for 14!’ I was confused but it was definitely weird, he looked me up and down and hovered his eyes on my chest so I had some clue [about] the notion of his comment but didn’t fully understand at the time. We quickly separated from his area after the encounter.”
Also grounds for resignation if truth be told. But you know Biden will not resign since it is in the American politician gene pool to be a hypocrite regardless of the atrocity they then commit but tell others not to commit.

2) Staying with Biden as a sexual predator theme, consider a recent disclosure by a young woman:
  • Maria Piacesi, a young woman, has recently disclosed that Biden sexually abused her when she was 8 years old at a photo op.
  • She claims that Biden actually pinched her nipple in public and when asked if Biden actually did that, she said yes.
  • She went on to say, “I would do something about it tbh if I thought it would help but I honestly just think at this point it would just make people angry and I have already had people calling me out saying I’m lying this is bs even tho it’s not but I just don’t think it would help with anything right now”
  • Now, everyone is entitled to their opinion and can argue with this young lady that it didn't happen, it was the imagination of an 8 year old in a gathering of adults.
  • However, there is video proof that he did indeed do the act and the video shows her flinching immediately after it happens, as proven in the following video:
https://freedomheadlines.com/freedom-wire/whooaa-little-girl-groped-by-joe-biden-confirms-what-he-did-to-her-video/

Based on the video, I say he did it and not only should he resign for this act and other sexual predator acts, he should go to jail for sexual assault. But he is an American politician, laws and rules do not apply to him.

3) Looks like this will be a politician hypocrisy post today. Barack Obama got very, very rich being President. Which is a little difficult to believe since for 8 years his gross government salary came out to about $3.2 million. After taxes, that is probably about $2.4 million in take home pay. His wife did not work those years so she did not contribute any salary to the Presidential household. Now, they both sold books so that is additional income but I still find it difficult to believe that he is able to own a $12 million, 30 acre mansion on Martha’s Vineyard and two other properties that I am sure are not small bungalows.

But his wealth accumulation is a topic for another blog. Obama recently announced that for his upcoming 60th birthday, he was going to have about 700 of his closest friends and family come to his birthday gala on Martha Vineyard. In a time of the great covid pandemic, he was going to have 700 people gather and massage his ego on his 60th birthday.

Now imagine if you lived in California or New York or Michigan, states that have had draconian lockdown and covid rules for over a year. How quickly do you think the local politicians would have the police break up your intimate gathering of 700 friends you were having over for your birthday? You would be castigated for hosting a “super spreader” covid disaster and would be fined and possibly jailed. In fact, I would be if you had only 70 people over for your birthday that you would be in serious covid trouble with authorities.

But an American politician, again thinking that rules and regulations do not apply to him, had no problem putting together a 700 super spreader even for people flying in from all over the world. Incredible hypocrisy. Fortunately, for the rest of the world, Obama was shamed into significantly downsizing the gala event to a few close friends and family.

But the reality is that if word had not gotten out about 700 people getting together in close quarters for an American politician's birthday party, the event would have gone on. You cannot tell me that Obama did not know what was going on in the world relative to the pandemic and the lockdown and safety rules that have been harshly imposed on the rest of us. He just thought that those rules did not apply to him.

“Do as I say, not as I do.” This is the creed of the American political class, those taxpayers that support their easy, lavish, and well paying lifestyles be damned.

September, 2016, Part 5, Political Class Insanity: Sexual Harassment at the EPA, Taxpayer Wealth to Morocco, A Guilty Politician and More

It is the beginning of another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

The current monthly record for the number of days needed to cover one month's worth of insanity is ten. We almost equaled that record last month when we needed nine days to cover one month’s worth of political class insanity. There is a very good chance that the ten day record could fall this month since as we get closer and closer to the election, the volume of ineptness grows almost exponentially.

But today and for all of the posts this month, let’s start off with a welcome piece of honest political dialog. It comes from a State Department spokesperson. Mark Toner, who is about to start the daily State Department press briefing. In a joking matter, he makes the following quote: "Welcome to the State Department. I think we have some interns in the back. Welcome. Good to see you in this exercise in transparency and democracy."

He then burst out laughing at his own quote, indicating he also knew what a joke the Obama administration has been, especially Mr. Toner’s State Department, when it comes to cover ups, lack of transparency, denial of Freedom of Information Act requests, the prosecution of whistleblowers, etc. But at least it was a little refreshing to finally hear some actual honesty out of Washington as we see from the actual clip of the news conference:

With that context of honesty, let’s see what other insanity has been going down:

1) We have often discussed what a sorry state the Pentagon accounting processes are. Just this week we discussed the scandal where Pentagon government credit cards had been used at strip joints and casinos. We have often reported on the reality that the accounting practices are so bad at the Defense Department that auditors have declared that the Pentagon books are so bad that cannot even be audited to find the problems. All of this incompetence probably leads to massive wasting of taxpayer wealth and outright fraud.

Thomas Phippen, writing for the Daily Caller on August 16, 29016, uncovered yet another Pentagon financial screw up:
  • Over a six year period, the Defense Department improperly moved $146 billion from its war readiness account to pay for its basic military operations.
  • The General Accountability Office (GAO) uncovered the accounting shenanigans: “GAO found that DOD used its authorities to realign about $146.9 billion of its funding from fiscal years 2009 through 2015.”
  • The war readiness funds, the Overseas Contingency Operations, is supposed to be used to give the Pentagon operations flexibility to deal with emergency situations that require immediate attention before approval is obtained from Congress.
  • This fund is not subject to budget cuts and Congressional oversight, it is supposed to be used only to immediately neutralize foreign military threats.
Thus, it appears that the Defense Department was gerry rigging the budget process to counter the will of Congress and the American people by funneling money to basic operations that had seen budget cuts by Congress. Another example of a government bureaucracy that is out of control.

2) Government is supposed to be honest and pure and an example of integrity for Americans. Of course, any reader of this blog knows that this ideal is far from the truth. And recent sexual harassment charges at the EPA prove that this Federal organization has some serious behavior problems.

Lachlan Markay, writing for the Washington Free Beacon on August 15, 2016, reported that:
  • The EPA inspector general’s office announced that it was opening an investigation into serial sexual sexual harassment and retaliation at the EPA.
  • Specifically, a Congressional committee found that: “Senior EPA leadership systematically pursued retaliatory actions against employees involved in investigating sexual harassment cases. These investigators allege that Susan Hedman, the Region 5 Administrator, was personally involved in retaliation against them.”
  • The committee heard testimony “from multiple former employees in EPA’s Great Lakes National Program Office who said they had either witnessed or been informed of repeated instances of sexual harassment by an EPA scientist.” and that an official at the EPA “found that multiple female employees had been involved and that such harassment by this scientist and it had been ongoing for the better part of a decade with the full knowledge of the managers of the division and involved many young female interns in their early to mid twenties.”
  • The EPA managers involved are also accused of retaliation against those that brought the harassment charges: “That punishment has included having my primary duties stripped away from me, effectively being marginalized and ignored by the managers who had permitted the sexual harassment to occur until they were confronted by the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) through an investigation in which I was instrumental in initiating.”
Nice place to work, get sexually harassed and then find your career sabotaged by those who harassed you. As usual with politicians and bureaucrats, nowhere does it appear that anyone who harassed women and broke the law faced any kind of disciplinary action or were fired. That only occurs to regular Americans who break the law.

3) While it appears no one as of yet has been punished for the EPA sexual harassment, there is some good news from a justice perspective that recently came out of Pennsylvania. This type of good news is so rare that it should be celebrated: a politician who broke the law is actually going to pay the price for her law breaking. How refreshing!

The CBS TV affiliate in Philadelphia recently reported that Kathleen Lane, the state attorney general, was found guilty of all nine counts brought against her in a perjury and obstruction of justice case. As a result of the guilty findings, she resigned her post as the state’s top law enforcement official.

The charges included leaking a 2009 grand jury probe results and then lying about her actions in an effort to discredit a rival prosecutor. At least two of the guilty counts were felonies. Two state Supreme Court justices also lost their jobs as a result of these criminal activities.

I guess there is hope if judges and state attorney generals can be found guilty of breaking the law and face the required and necessary consequences. It is just that it happens so infrequently that one often loses hope that we are living in a fair and just society.

4) Here is a depressing little statistic that was just announced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS): the number of government employees at all levels of government in this country far outnumber the number of Americans working in the manufacturing sector of the economy. The BLS announced that 12,281,000 people work in manufacturing jobs in this country today while 22,213,000 work for some level of government across the country. This is a whopping difference of almost 10,000,000 people.

But this is part of a long term trend that has been going on for decades:

Since government employees do not create wealth, they are supported by the wealth created and paid for (taxes) by those working in the private sector, the above chart is not a good economic trend. As more and more people end up working in jobs that do not create wealth, they need to tax those that do create wealth more and more to keep government viable. This reduces overall economic growth and makes us all poorer.

5) We run a monthly series of posts along the theme. “I am a global warming doubter and a believer in science.” Every month we present research, scientific analysis, and basic climate realities that prove that the concept of man made global warming is very likely nothing more than a myth perpetrated by scientists and politicians that are using this myth to improve their own careers and well being. Thus, we have continually asked for an adult dialog that considers ALL of the available science and data before embarking on government policies that will make all Americans poorer.

Given all of these realities, you can see how we think the following government expenditure is insane and useless. According to Michael Bastasch, writing for the Daily Caller on August 12, 2016, the State Department is handing out almost $400,000 for ideas on how to fight global warming….in Morocco: “Morocco and the U.S. share a strong commitment to combating climate change which they are tackling aggressively at the international, national, and local levels.”

Seriously, we are sending $400,000 to a third world country to work on a potential myth of global warming when Americans are going homeless, hungry, drug addicted, etc.? Even if Morocco converted its entire economy to clean energy it would not make a nit of difference in humanity’s carbon footprint. So why do it? Insane waste of money for no benefit in return.

Another day, another varied set of political class insanity and idiocy: wasting money on nothing in Morocco, way too many government workers who do nothing to expand the economy, sexual harassment at the EPA misappropriating budget at the Pentagon, and finally a criminal politician gets what she deserves. More insanity tomorrow.

The Political Class Corruption Train Keeps On Rolling - Democratic Politician Version

We have talked many, many times about the corruption that pervades our democracy, Washington D.C., and the American political class. It wastes taxpayer wealth, corrupts decision making processes, and never resolves the major issues of our times. One major piece in this continuing saga ran in July, 2012:

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2012/07/washington-corruption-train-keeps-on.html

In August, 2012 we did a five part series that considered the slime, sleaze and immorality of the political class, beginning with the first post in that series:

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-slime-sleaze-immorality-and.html

And most recently, we did a series of posts this past January, starting with the following link, about the buying and selling of America:

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-selling-and-buying-of-america-part.html

Today we will continue this unfortunate legacy by reviewing the recent spate of Democratic party politicians and the corruption and illegal acts they have been up to at all levels of government, enriching themselves while neglecting their duties as elected officials.

1) Last summer, Brooklyn Democrat state government Assemblyman Vito Lopez was severely reprimanded by members of his own party and peers in the state legislature for what was called “blatant instances of sexual harassment.” The state government’s Standing Committee on Ethics and Guidance stripped him of a committee chairmanship, cut off resources and funding from the Assembly, stripped him of any seniority perks, and prompted a ban prohibiting him from hiring interns or employing other employees under the age of 21.

I will not go into the gruesome, disgusting details of his actions but they are outlined in the letter of admonishment that can be found at the following link:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/103820462/Vito-Lopez-Letter-8-24-12

Nice guy, even his fellow politicians found his behavior reprehensible, a pretty high bar to get over.

2) On February 16, 2013, the Albany Times Union reported that State Assemblyman William F. Boyland Jr., another Brooklyn Democrat who was already under Federal indictment for bribery, has been charged with falsifying state travel forms in order to illegally and immorally collect more than $67,000 in lodging, food and mileage reimbursements that he was not entitled to receive. These charges came about as a result of a state comptroller's report and investigation.

The state audit investigated and researched Boyland's expense reports for a five-year period beginning in January 2007, and found he filed questionable claims on 609 of the 975 days that he submitted for travel reimbursement. One reason why he got caught is that his claims of traveling were found false since at the time he was supposedly traveling, he was meeting with undercover FBI agents in a sting operation where he was trying to collect $250,000 in bribes. Thus, his participation in one crime was the undoing in another crime.

3) U.S. and New Jersey Democratic Senator Robert Menendez finds himself in a tough spot following three accusations:

A) He illegally used the resources of a campaign donor to fly to the Dominican Republic a number of times.

B) While in the Dominican Republic, he engaged in sex with local prostitutes.

C) One of the prostitutes was underage.

Three very bad and chilling accusations and allegations. However, it appears that at least the first charge is accurate. According to news reports, he admitted that disclosure and repayment for two plane trips to the Dominican Republic via a donor’s private jet “slipped through the cracks.” Oops! He paid back the donor this past January to the tune of about $58,000. Must have been a nice jet.

The reason why this type of behavior breaks the law is that a U.S. Senator is required to disclose ALL income and gifts. The disclosure must be accurate, complete, and filed by May 15 for the preceding year. By not complying with this legal requirement, the Senator’s “slip through the cracks” is legally a false statement, which is a felony. Since there were two separate trips, there are two separate felony charges.

It should be interesting to see if there are any ramifications for this type of behavior. Ordinary Americans usually cannot get away with the “oops” defense when they commit a felony. Will this defense work for a politician? Probably.

It should also be very interesting to track the other two accusations above over time as the FBI and others investigate. If true, we easily could make the case that his frolicking with prostitutes in a foreign country is a national security breach and disgraceful behavior for a U.S. Senator.

4) A New York Times article from February 13, 2013 reported that a former New York State senator pleaded guilty to falsifying evidence in an attempt to cover up the theft of taxpayer money from a nonprofit agency that she founded. This plea ended a political corruption investigation that resulted in criminal charges in both Federal and state courts. Details of the corruption include the follwing fact:
  • The former Democratic state senator, Shirley L. Huntley, told a judge in State Supreme Court in Nassau County that she wrote and backdated a letter in March, 2011 to create a false record indicating that the nonprofit agency, Parent Workshop Inc., held an event that never occurred.
  • The agency was supposed to help parents navigate the school system, but investigators said employees both at Parent Workshop and at another nonprofit organization she operated stole more than $100,000 in state grants instead of spending the money on the nonprofits' programs.
  • In the state component of the investigation, Ms. Huntley was not accused of stealing the money directly but covering up $30,000 in thefts by others.
  • In the Federal District Court case in Brooklyn, prosecutors accused Ms. Huntley of directly taking taxpayer money from her other nonprofit agency, Parents Information Network Inc. Ms. Huntley pleaded guilty in that case and admitted to stealing more than $87,000 in state grants to pay for shopping for herself and her relatives.
  • Ms. Huntley will pay the state the full amount she stole. She faces up to two years in prison under the Federal sentencing guidelines for the charge, conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
  • Prosecutors in the state case recommended a sentence of five years’ probation because Ms. Huntley already faces Federal prison time.
  • According to a New York Post report, she spent this ill gotten gain on spa treatments, upscale shopping, and expensive gifts for her dog.
You have to give this crooked politician credit, it appears she worked hard at defrauding New York and American taxpayers of their wealth. Fortunately, she got caught and will be a guest at someone’s prison facilities.

5) And last, but not least, consider the corruption and criminal activity of former U.S. Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. According to a February 16, 2013 Associated Press report, Mr. Jackson AND his wife, a Chicago alderman until her recent resignation, agreed to plead guilty to Federal criminal charges. The charges revolve around the plan to misuse $750,000 for luxurious personal expenses including a $43,000 gold watch.

The charges against the Jacksons include filing false tax returns for six years that understated their income. He also filed false financial statements with the House of Representatives. As a result, both of them could go to prison for several years besides paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.

Their various scams and schemes enabled them to complete the following purchases:
  • The actual cost of the Rolex gold watch was $43,350.
  • They spent $9,588 for children's furniture.
  • His wife spent over $5,000 on fur capes and parkas.
  • In one effort they used the cover story of a false room rental for a bogus fundraiser to spent $1,500 on porcelain collector’s items.
Disgraceful behavior for a Congressman and city official. Just another reason why no American should pay another penny in taxes. Well, more than one reason, if you include furs, Rolex watches, etc.

No wonder major issues facing Americans never get resolved. At least today, the Democrats in office are spending so much time and effort scamming American taxpayers they have little time left to actually understand and develop plans to resolve those issues.

Groping members of your staff, going to jail, and flying off to the Dominican Republic for alleged hanky-panky is no way to run a government.
