"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy" Winston Churchill

I was getting tired of listening to President Obama's constant rants about "fairness" the other day, how he intends to end all of his perceived injustices in the world by taxing many Americans even more than how they are taxed now. His "tax the rich" class warfare rhetoric seems to be just one component of his reelection campaign, a campaign that apparently now takes precedence over leading the country.

But we have already covered the many reasons why his belligerence, soak the rich, and "taxation is good" beliefs are not good for the country:

- We have previously and easily identified how the Federal government wastes over $500 billion a year via criminal activity, fraud, wasteful spending and inefficiencies, taxpayer wealth that could be better used to grow the economy, reduce taxes, and take care of those truly less fortunate in our society without raising taxes. If Obama really cared about EVERY American, he would focus on this dreadful waste of existing taxpayer resources rather than demonize certain members of society who already pay the lion's share of the Federal government's expenses.

He could do all the perceived good that he says he wants to do by just cleaning up his act and the act of Washington today. He could warm the cold, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless many times over if only he would lead the country and stop the waste rather than divide the country.

- We have previously shown that even if you tax those Americans earning over a million dollars a year at 100%, i.e. you took every cent they earned, you would add only about half a TRILLION dollars to the Federal coffers in a one calendar year. This 100% obscene confiscation would be about only one third of the overspending and budget deficit that this administration indulged in during 2012.

You could obviously only do this once since no sane person would ever again earn a million dollars a year if all of it was forcefully taken by the government. Thus, if taxing the rich at 100% would have only a one time, relatively minor effect, taxing the rich at far less than 100% would have minimal effect on the economics of government. We have a gross overspending problem in this country, not an under taxation problem.

- We have previously shown that if you confiscated the total net worth of the richest Americans (i.e. you took their real estate, their cars, their boats, their cash, their investments, etc.), you would only only come up with about $2.4 TRILLION. This would not cover the last two years' worth of budget deficits that the Obama administration has rung up.

As with the above example where we took every cent of every millionaire's earnings, you could only confiscate the wealthy's total assets once since no sane person would ever work hard again. Since the wealthy pay for the lion's share of taxes in this country, bankrupting them with 100% confiscation of their possessions makes no since since everyone else would now have to start paying for the taxes that the wealthy used to pay.

Let's be honest, Obama is a socialist at heart and apparently in practice since it is now obvious that he wants all power, all wealth, all freedom, and all personal decisions to pass through a ruling political class, a strategy that our above and previous analyses prove will undoubedtly end in failure. Which leads me to the following set of quotes on socialism. A few observations before you read them:
  • I have only included quotes where the speaker was eloquent enough to capsulize his or her thoughts in a few sentences. I did not include long, rambling quotes since it is obvious the speaker was trying too hard to get their point across, a point that is lost in their tangle of words and sentences.
  • All of the quotes come from online quote websites that you can also access if you want to see which ones I omitted or to check the accuracy of the ones I selected. Just search for "socialism quotes" and a long list of quote websites will pop up.
  • What I found is that famous, positively impactful people (e.g. Winston Churchill, Thomas Jefferson, etc.) were 100% against socialism for the reasons you can see in their quotes. There are also excellent anti-socialism quotes from many non-famous people included below.
  • What I also found is that famous people that were in support of socialism (and by extension communism) tended to be negatively impactful people (Karl Marx, Nikita Khrushchev, Joseph Goebbels). As you will see, these quotes on socialism was much closer to the quotes of Obama and Hillary Clinton which are also included below.
  • From this compilation of pro and anti-socialism quotes, it becomes quite obvious that socialism and liberty cannot co-exist, they are relatively mutually exclusive. Since America was founded and has thrived on freedom, socialism and Obama's policies and attitude are not conducive to the long term viability of liberty in this country.
Those are my conclusions from the following quotes drawn from the famous and the unknown, where the famous consist of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
Winston Churchill

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings, the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." Winston Churchill

"Socialism is workable only in heaven where it isn't needed and in hell where they already have it." Cecil Palmer

"Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it." Thomas Sowell

“Socialism values equality more than liberty.” Dennis Prager

"For socialists, not just the wealth, but the guilt, must be redistributed." Andrew Sandlin

“All socialism involves slavery” Herbert Spenser

"Socialism is Bolshevism with a shave." Unknown

"As with the Christian religion, the worst advertisement for Socialism is its adherents." George Orwell

"The historical experience of socialist countries has sadly demonstrated that collectivism does not do away with alienation but rather increases it, adding to it a lack of basic necessities and economic inefficiency." Pope John Paul II

"Socialists cry "Power to the people", and raise the clenched fist as they say it. We all know what they really mean — power over people, power to the State." Margaret Thatcher

"Political corruption, social greed, and Americanized quasi-socialism can ruin even the most wonderful places. California proved that."  Tiffany Madison

"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money to spend." Margaret Thatcher

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Thomas Jefferson

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” Thomas Jefferson

"Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom; socialism restricts it. Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude."  Alexis de Rocqueville

"Collectivism doesn’t work because it’s based on a faulty economic premise. There is no such thing as a person’s ‘fair share’ of wealth. The gross national product is not a pizza that must be carefully divided because if I get too many slices, you have to eat the box. The economy is expandable and, in any practical sense, limitless." P. J. O'Rourke

"No matter how worthy the cause, it is robbery, theft, and injustice to confiscate the property of one person and give it to another to whome it does not belong." Walter Williams

"There is nothing more arrogant than a self-righteous income redistributor." Dick Arney

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." Thomas Jefferson

"Every time that we try to lift a problem from our own shoulders, and shift that problem to the hands of the government, to the same extent we are sacrificing the liberties of our people." John F. Kennedy

"A society that puts equality – in the sense of equality of outcome – ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality or freedom."
Milton Friedman

"Since this is an era when many people are concerned about “fairness” and “social justice,” what is your “fair share” of what someone else has worked for?" Thomas Sowell

"The theory seems to be that as long as a man is a failure, he is one of God’s children, but that as soon as he succeeds he is taken over by the Devil."  H. L. Mencken

"Don’t expect to build up the weak by pulling down the strong."
Calvin Coolidge

"To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, 'the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, and the fruits acquired by it.'" Thomas Jefferson

"You cannot bring prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further brotherhood of men by inciting class hatred.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves." Rev. William J. H. Boetcker

"The best way to put more money in people's pockets is to leave it there in the first place." Edwin Fuelner

"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." Unknown

"Repeal that [welfare] law, and you will soon see a change in their manners. ... Six days shalt thou labor, though one of the old commandments long treated as out of date, will again be looked upon as a respectable precept; industry will increase, and with it plenty among the lower people; their circumstances will mend, and more will be done for their happiness by inuring them to provide for themselves, than could be done by dividing all your estates among them." Ben Franklin

Now, compare these positive quotes above about freedom and against socialism to the following negative quotes from negative people regarding freedom and liberty:

"Comrades! We must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all."  Soviet Premier Nikita S. Khrushchev

"We need to stop worrying about the rights of the individual and start worrying about what is best for society." Hillary Clinton

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton

"To be a socialist is to submit the I to the thou; socialism is sacrificing the individual to the whole." Joseph Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda, National Socialist German Workers' ("Nazi") Party

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me, as we try to change it." Barack Obama

If Obama really, really believes this last statement, then how much upside is there by changing the greatest nation in the HISTORY of the world by the radical, ill-founded, idiotic, and socialistic ways that he wants to implement? Makes no sense, especially when you consider the positive advice listed above from Churchill, Jefferson, Franklin, and other great leaders as compared to the negative advice from people like Goebbels, Marx, and Khrushchev (and Hillary Clinton).

Thus, every day, especially in this ongoing political season I urge every true American to avoid the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy that is socialism. Remember the following simple advice and keep freedom and liberty alive:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Unfortunately, most voters don't know or understand these five points and the good advice above and that is the biggest danger facing our democracy today.

We invite all readers of this blog to visit our new website, "The United States Of Purple," at:

http://www.unitedstatesofpurple.com/

The United States of Purple is a new grass roots approach to filling the office of President of The United States by focusing on the restoration of freedom in the United States, focusing on problem solving skills and results vs. personal political enrichment, and imposing term limits on all future Federal politicians. No more red states, no more blue states, just one United States Of America under the banner of Purple.

The United States Of Purple's website also provides you the formal opportunity to sign a petition to begin the process of implementing a Constitutional amendment to impose fixed term limits on all Federally elected politicians. Only by turning out the existing political class can we have a chance of addressing and finally resolving the major issues of or times.

Our book, "Love My Country, Loathe My Government - Fifty First Steps To Restoring Our Freedom And Destroying The American Political Class" is now available at www.loathemygovernment.com. It is also available online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Please pass our message of freedom onward.
