August, 2014, I Am A Global Warming Doubter And A Believer In Science, Update 1: Life is Cooling Down, The Feds "Adjust: Data, and More

A number of years ago we wrote a series of posts under the theme, “I am a global warming doubter and a believer in science.” We wanted to find out for ourselves, by examining every piece of science, research, data, expert opinions, etc. if global warming was real or a myth.

As a believer in science and the scientific method, we wanted to see if the rantings and ravings of people like Al Gore had any validity. And if not, finally be able to show them that you can believe in science AND figure out that global warming was a self perpetuating myth by those that had a lot to gain, either financially, personally, or from a recognition perspective.

Well, years later, and dozens of posts later that examined dozens and dozens of science and realities, I am proud to say that I am still a global warming doubter and skeptic (or its marketing rebranded name of “climate change”) more than ever and have the scientific evidence to support my view, people like Al Gore be damned. You can review our exhaustive research and discussions on the matter by entering “global warming doubter” in the search box above.

Additionally, you can read our last update to the series by going to:

The following pieces of science and realities to disprove global warming will be reviewed over the next few days, starting below:

1) According data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 2014 is shaping up as one of the more extreme in terms of climate. Unfortunately, for people like Al Gore, the extreme is not global warming but global cooling. It has not been this cool in the U.S. since Bill Clinton’s first year in office, 1993.

Additional data from the same Federal government source also showed that July temperatures for the contiguous 48 states were the lowest since 2009. 13 states stretching from the Midwest, through the Mississippi River Valley and to the Southeast experienced one of their 10 coolest July months ever, according to NOAA.

So, no apparent rapid global warming, at least according to government measures of temperatures. In fact, if anything, things are cooling down relative to historical data. And that must be a real inconvenient truth for people like Mr. Gore.

2) Speaking of cold, a few Sundays ago, Death Valley, California, which holds the world record for the highest temperature ever recorded, registered a high temperature of just 89 degrees on Sunday, August 3. By the way, that was the coolest high temperature on record for the date. This information comes to this post from an article in The Washington Post disclosing that the Death Valley temperature was 15 degrees lower than the previous record of 104 degrees set in 1945.

For comparison purposes, the average August high in Death Valley is 115 degrees, 26 degrees higher than the August 3 temperature. Global warming doubting is looking good from a reality check perspective.

3) Congressman Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania recently gave forth on global warming and his theory that the recent Obama call for drastic action to compete against a probably non-event, global warming, is nothing more than a public relations, legacy building stunt of this President. He goes over some of the scientifically correct data and research that we have already covered in this blog, namely that anything the U.S. does in this area, e.g. shutting down coal burning power plants, will have virtually no impact on the Earth’s climate since other fast growing countries like China will not be curtailing their rapidly growing use of coal.

His cogent argument against the global warming/climate change advocates can be seen at:

4) Steven Goddard has a very interesting website dedicated to what he calls “real science” at:

At that website he goes through an extensive analysis of how NASA and NOAA, two Federal government agencies, have artificially manipulated raw data over the years to make the global warming problem look much worse than it really was. He goes through a whole series of innovative, interactive charts showing what the original, raw temperature and climate data looked like and what the adjusted, tweaked, and manipulated final data looked like.

The takeaway, if you believe his analysis, is that at least these two agencies of the Federal government have falsely and secretly adjusted raw data to fit their theories, needs, and forecasts when they should have been using the raw data to understand reality. If what he says is true, then we have been all duped by a set of government bureaucrats and scientists who have their own personal and government intentions for which global warming/climate change is just a means to an ends, not real science, but science being used and abused for personal gain.

One of the charts that can be used in this blog since it is not interactive is an interesting analysis of government data that measure the ratio of U.S. daily record low temperatures vs. daily record high temperatures at specific government locations. For example, if there were twice as many days in a given year that set record low temperatures vs. the number of days in that same year that hit record high temperatures, this ratio would be 2.0.

In a global warming world, this ratio would be below one since there would be more record setting high temperature days vs. record setting low temperature days. Unfortunately, for folks like Al Gore, the exact opposite reality has happened in recent years.

In the past two years, that ratio has been above 1.0, indicating that more daily record low temperatures were set vs. record high temperatures. In fact, so far in 2014, the ratio is at it second highest level ever. Thus, we could be seeing a cooling of the Earth’s temperature, both in this analysis, the realities in the initial points we made above and other cooling evidence we have discussed in previous posts. Realities that are hardly consistent with a global warming reality.

The other interesting point to observe in this chart is that back in the 1930s and 1940s, long before global warming was supposed to be occurring, this ratio was very much below 1.0. This indicates there had been a lot more days back in the 1930s and 1940s that set record high daily temperatures vs. record low temperatures. This would indicate that hot and cold weather happens in cycles and has nothing to do with U.S. coal burning or any other reason that global warming advocates have come up with.

That will do it for today, more global warming doubts but belief in science tomorrow. It is amazing how things turn out to be so different when you do the research yourself to understand reality vs. just listening to the political class and Al Gore types, falsely assuming they would provide you with the truth. Remember, these are the same types of people that told you that “if you like your doctor/hospital/insurance policy, you can keep your doctor/hospital/insurance policy regardless of what the Obama Care legislation says.”
