November, 2014 Part 4, The Unfolding Disaster That Is Obama Care: More Personal Horror Stories and The Politicians That Caused Them

Although we just finished up almost two weeks of political class insanity, a regular monthly feature of this blog, we did not talk about an Obama care insanity. We purposely avoided the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care since it deserves its own, dedicated set of posts. That is the only way to do justice to the worst piece of legislation ever passed by the worst set of Washington politicians to ever hold office.

For a number of years we have been writing about Obama Care and the disaster, pain, and anguish it has generally caused. It has restricted health care access, raised health care costs, added to the national debt, suppressed economic growth, and has no real shot of ever reducing health care costs in this country since it never addressed the root causes of high health care costs in this country.

To access past posts in the subject, just enter “the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care” in the search box above. You will then be presented with probably over a hundred posts containing hundreds of reasons why Obama Care was such an idiotic approach from day one.

This will be our final post this month on the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care. Today we will not focus on the faulty logic, the faulty strategies, the faulty wording or the faulty premises of Obama Care. Today we will just look at some personal stories of how this very bad piece of legislation is disrupting and stressing out Americans and their families across the country.

The source of these stories is the website:

These are the real people that are losing access to their preferred doctors, hospitals, medicines and insurance policies. These are the people that are suffering through financial and medical hardships as a result of Obama Care. These are the people that are paying an unnecessary price for a political class Rube Goldberg health insurance contraption that has no chance of being successful.

RENAY from Washington -  Our insurance has DOUBLED! My husband is self employed and we have ALWAYS had insurance we bought on the open market, meaning we don't get it subsidized by an employer or government. We had a plan with a high deductible and low monthly cost because it worked perfectly for us. Of course, we didn't get to keep our insurance if we liked it (we were lied to by Obama) and our insurance didn't go down $2500. (we were lied to by Obama). Our insurance went from $500/month to $988/month. Our deductible went from $10,000. to $12,000. and with less coverage than we had before.

When Obama realized that he was caught in his lie and started handing out waivers to 'allow' us to keep our old insurance, I called our state insurance commissioner and said Obama said we could keep it. His office said they were not going to and just keep on as they were. I had looked at the exchanges and noticed that every insurance plan sold was almost EXACTLY the same in price. I also mentioned this to the insurance commissioner office that it didn't look like competition but more like price fixing and racketeering. I asked what would happen to my complaints and I was told that they weren't even put into a complaint system and that nothing would be done about it!

Yes, this is the government we have here in Washington state. We have an insurance commissioner that the only thing I can see that he does is when insurance companies ask for rate hikes (and we had double digit ones every year prior to Obamacare) he wrings his hands and allows ALMOST as much as they asked for and thinks he did a good job for the 'people.'

DAVID from Nevada -  I was really looking forward to my $2,500 savings I was promised. My total yearly cost instead went up by $2,620 with a higher deductible. President Obama could not have been this far off in his prediction which means he knew he was lying and said it anyway.

CAROLYN from Kansas  - CBS News has confirmed millions nationwide will be losing their current insurance coverage. That's because it doesn't meet the new minimum requirements under the Affordable Care Act.

There could be thousands of Kansans in that total. The letters started going out last month, telling Kansans their insurance policies will be discontinued at the end of the year. "I'm self-employed," said Carolyn Perry. She runs a day care out of her home. "So I need the coverage cause anything can happen at any given time." She's among those the Affordable Care Act was meant to help. "But the premium that I'm paying now is twice as much as what it was when I first started paying it," she said. Perry buys her own health insurance. So far, she's keeping it.

KATE from NEW MEXICO - We own our own business and pay for our own healthcare. As of January 1, 2014 the cost of a comparable healthcare policy tripled and our old policy was cancelled. We have been unable to afford the cost increase and as of May 2014 we have no insurance at all. This has been a very frustrating situation for us.

MARK from IDAHO - Mark A. York, a 60-year-old freelance writer in Hailey, Idaho, said he began shopping after he received a letter saying that his current insurance policy would be canceled because it did not meet the requirements of the health care law. In the exchange, he said, he found policies with premiums similar to what he is now paying, $440 a month, but “the deductibles were so high — $4,000 to $6,000 a year — that it defeats the purpose of having insurance."
LINDA from Connecticut - I am self employed and my insurance premium increased by $307.00 a month. Guess I'll stop eating! Not only that but at the age of 58, I'm required to carry maturnity (sic) coverage! To further add insult to injury, my prescription which was costing me $26.00 a month is now costing me $87.00 per month.

STEPHANIE from Virginia -  I had a plan for a family of four paying five hundred and sixty dollars a month. to stay with the company's newest version of that plan my premium was going to increase to $1,096 a month. there is no way I could afford that so now I have a cost reduction program and it has taken a lot of time to get used to paying out of pocket and then trying to get a cost reduction.

I want to cry, and almost have a few times! I have spent hours upon hours upon hours researching new plans trying to find something that would meet my needs and have my doctors covered and after signing up to get some information online I was bombarded by calls up to 50 in 1 day with companies trying to talk to me about health care.

I liked my plan I liked my premium and I liked my doctors I do not like anything about ObamaCrap. I've said from the beginning....instead of changing all the plans for the Americans who liked their plans why not create a new plan for the 10% of Americans who are uninsured or uninsurable with the hundreds of millions of dollars they wasted to disturb all of our lives with this crap?

DAVID from North Carolina - In January 2013, my health insurance premium was $199 per month using one of the top insurance companies in the country, Blue Cross. In January 2014, upon implementation of Obamacare, my premium more than tripled to $653 per month with less benefits.

Even worse was what happened to my wife. She is trying to recover from Stage 4 cancer. She needed surgery in May 2013. Because of the impending Obamacare implementation, her insurance was cancelled and the doctors would not perform surgery without insurance. She was not able to get insurance until March 2014 ($850 per month - double her previous premium) and finally had the surgery she needed one year later....allowing prospective cancerous tumors to grow for almost one year without being able to be treated.

If she dies as a result, Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi should be charged with murder. We are only in our '50's and we are paying $1500 per month for just two of us.

MICHAEL from Georgia -  From Dawson News: [Michael] Boyette, 28, is married, has one child and another on the way. The Boyettes have insurance through the state through his wife's job. Under the new law, his family's insurance premium has gone up $190 a month, from $350 to $540. "We have less coverage than before at a higher out-of-pocket expense," Boyette said. "One company, three choices, that was it. This was not what [President Barack Obama] assured me and many others."

ROBERT from Florida - Not only is there less choice, higher costs and lost coverage, but it also means less pay. A lot of companies have been cutting their employees hours to 28 so then those people are only considered part-time workers and the company doesn't have to provide any coverage.

Happened to my wife, Holly. she went from working 40+ hrs. a week and dropped down to 28 hrs. a week. So not only did she loose the company health plan but is making less money than she was. It's just a really bad Catch 22. So even if she wanted to she can't afford any descent coverage due to her cut in income.

And, you gotta love this one, but if she doesn't get health insurance than she gets penalized by the Gov't for not having health insurance. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

RON from Alaska -  my neighbors are in their 80's, and has been retired from the pipefitters union for several years on a modest retirement. $1600 a month, and their insurance was like $200 a month. Now with obama care and the lid being lifted on payouts it now costs them $1400 per month. It is rather hard to live on $200 a month and social security.

You get the idea. Americans are being screwed by the Washington political class for passing legislation they did not read, they did not understand, and many did not care what happened. They still got their benefits and generous taxpayer funded stipends to cover their Obama Care costs.

he only good news is that many of them are now unemployed as a result of the midterm elections. However, the rest of the country is still stuck with the worst piece of legislation ever passed by Washington politicians. Consider two classic pieces of video to show you how inept and uncaring these people are:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV-05TLiiLU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACbwND52rrw

They said it all. One politician who never the read bill and was waiting for the Cliff Notes version AFTER it was passed and another who took pride in not reading the bill since he would need lawyers to explain it to him even though he voted for it. Pathetic and damaging to Americans everywhere.

That will do it for this month’s coverage of the unfolding disasters that are Obama Care. I am sure we will back next month with more of the same nonsense and pain.
