Trump and Musk Continue To Uncover Wasteful and Corrupt Government Spending - Part 4

We have  so often discussed the reality that the country and the Federal  government that operates it is quickly heading towards a fiscal cliff that, unless something drastic is done, will crash our economy, our savings, and our freedoms. The Federal government debt is quickly ascending to a whopping $37,000,000,000,000 ($37 TRILLION for those that do not want to count the zeroes). In fact, the case could probably be made that we as a nation have  already gone over that fiscal cliff but have just not hit the valley floor below and gone splat.

Despite the raging epidemic of Trump Derangement Syndrome among liberals and  Democrats, Trump, Elon Musk, and the members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have done a great job in a very short time identifying stupid, nonsensical, corrupt, and unneeded Federal government costs and expenses.

No matter what you think of Trump as a person (and by the way, I have never voted for the man), his attacking of excess costs had to be done if we have any chance of getting outlandish and wasteful government spending under control. Otherwise, the dire results listed above and the hyperinflation that  would come with it would not be at all  pleasant.

Our first discussion on  the outlandish costs he identified were listed in a series of posts earlier this year beginning with the following:

https://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2025/02/february-2025-by-numbers-part-2.html

Over this series of posts we will  continue that discussion and identify the corruption, waste, and stupidity that the Federal government is guilty of when it comes to wasting taxpayer wealth.

1)Too many times in this blog we have  reported on how the education processes and tenets in this country continue to under educate our kids. In international testing processes, there are usually over two dozen countries whose kids test smarter than American kids. Despite having spent hundreds of billions of dollars over the past several decades via the Federal government’s Department of Education, the results we have received as taxpayers have been very disappointing.

Given this reality, one would have hoped that Washington would be spending our tax dollars on improving basic education skills, emphasizing reading, writing, math and science. But DOGE has uncovered a ridiculous waste of education dollars that have nothing to do with educating our kids:

  • The Federal government has spent $22 million on teen sex education programs that instruct minors to hide information from parents.

  • The Girl2Girl program sends texts to girls aged 14-16 with explicit information on sex toys, always telling them to hide this information from their parents.

  • Transcendent Health  spent $1.3 million of taxpayer wealth  to target “gender confused minors,” again excluding parents from  the program  and communications.

First of all, even if these were worthwhile programs, why are they in the  Department  of Education, shouldn't they be in the Health and Human Services department? But that is a moot point, the cut off of parents from the interactions with their kids while not devoting this $23.3  million on real education needs is ridiculous and deserves to  be axed.

2)John Hart of the Open The Books organization recently testified about real estate fiscal waste that has built up over time:

  • Not only does the Federal government pay billions and billions of dollars every year for empty office space but it also has allowed those buildings to degrade so  much that it will take $370 billion to make repairs.

  • In addition, Hart related how the Federal  government  spends a billion dollars a year on furniture, much of which is never used because so  many Federal employees telework.

  • Specifically: “We’ve expanded federal agencies way beyond what the founders intended. There’s a very high cost of decorating and redecorating the administrative state. For $4.6 billion we could provide 9.2 million American households with a $500 kitchen table. Congress needs to do an agency reorganization bill to really get at this problem.”

3)With the Federal government national debt  quickly closing in on $37,000,000,000,000 and with tens of  millions of Americans  homeless, hungry,   drug addicted, and not able to afford health  insurance and health services, it is probably a good  idea to get rid of the following, useless Federal DEI grants from the Federal Institute Of Museum Library Services:

  • $6.7  million meant for “equitable library programs” at California State’s  Library.

  • $1.5 million for Connecticut libraries to get “integrated social  injustice,  diversity, equity, and inclusion” integrated into their daily operations.

  • $700,000 given to a D.C. nonprofit to study “post-pandemic DEI practices in  children’s  museums.

  • $265,000 that would have funded research on why “BIPOC teens read Japanese comic books.”

  • The “Gay Ohio History  Initiative”  will no  longer get $250,000 to erect 10 LGBTQ+ historical markers around the state.

What possible set of priorities says these are good use of taxpayer dollars? Given that DOGE found that the Federal government funds only .3% of total  revenue of public libraries across the country these funds will not be missed and  the Federal government saves  some more taxpayer wealth.

4)One more quick taxpayer savings from the DOGE organization. Among 80 recently wasteful government  programs that DOGE recently cancelled was a $2.1 million contract for advisory services in the Democratic republic of Congo.

I cannot imagine what possible good reason there would be to spend $2.1 million in the Congo: it is not a strategic defensive ally or partner, it is not a major oil supplier, it is not anything for the vast majority of Americans, possibly every American, and yet over $2 million was being spent in the Congo.  Stupid, wasteful spending.

Wasteful spending in the Congo, wasteful spending on useless library initiatives, wasteful spending on empty dilapidated Federal government office buildings and the furniture inside the buildings that no one uses, and wasteful spending on parent-excluding stupid sex education programs in the  Department of Education.
