March, 2024, Part 2, Political Class Insanity: Biden Subsidizes The Rich, Eric Adams Goes "Whoops," A U.S. Senator Gets Further Indictments and Taxing The Rich Is Still Stupid

Every month we devote posts to just general political class insanity that is running rampant through the country. The members of the American political class continue to show that they are incapable of operating any level of government in this country.

Even their best efforts are almost always inefficient and ineffective at resolving any problem facing Americans. They spend a great amount of time not trying to improve the lives of their citizens but continually ensuring their reelection and enriching themselves, their families, and their friends in the process, all at taxpayer expense.

1)According to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the two wealthiest men in the world are Jeff Bezos ($200 billion) and Elon Musk ($198 billion). These are the types of people that mostly liberal and Democrat politicians love to demonize because of their honestly earned wealth and threaten to tax not just their income but also their wealth, to either pay down the national debt or redistribute to people who did not earn that wealth.

The stupidity and insanity of this hysteria is easily debunked with a little math:
  • The current Federal government national debt is a whopping $34,000,000,000,000.
  • If the Democrats confiscated 10% of their wealth and used it to magically and immediately pay down the national debt it would reduce the national debt by about .12%.
  • Not 12%, not 1.2% but .12%, a pittance.
  • But let’s say they wanted to distribute that money to every citizen in the country, a typical liberal/socialist idea.
  • In that case, every man, woman and child in the country would receive about $121 a year, or about $.33 a day.
Just another example where politicians divide the country to their own benefit, over taxing the wealthy will provide little relief to either the national debt problem or increase the personal wealth of average Americans. But American politicians do not know how to curb spending, the real culprit for the skyrocketing national debt, or to run an economy that enriches everyone based on their talents and efforts. It is so much easier to demonize than to address and fix the real problem.

2)We have often talked about how the sanctimonious and snotty politicians in many liberal states and cities have loudly boasted for years how their city or state are sanctuaries for illegal immigrants. That their cities and states will protect illegal immigrants from the Federal law on immigration, that they are the best and most compassionate.

Along with that reality, we have also discussed the current reality that now that illegal immigrants are flocking to these sanctuary cities and states, these boastful politicians are feeling the heat for their past positions. These illegal immigrants are flooding the streets, the shelters, the hospitals, and the schools of sanctuary cities and states.

This is causing these sanctimonious politicians to spend billions and billions of taxpayers dollars to care for these illegal immigrants. It is causing them to cut services to Americans who are paying the taxes to service these illegal immigrants. And now all of a sudden, those politicians are starting to realize that their boats come with coasts, and those costs are not sitting well with their constituents:
  • New York City mayor, Eric Adams, has been a long time supporter of NYC being a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants.
  • But over the past couple of years, thousands and thousands of illegal immigrants have taken him up on his offer, coming to the city and causing Adams to burn through untold billions of taxpayer wealth to support these illegal immigrants.
  • And now, at a recent town hall meeting, he questioned his own long time position on whether being a sanctuary city is a good thing.
  • He advocated for possibly changing city laws that would in some cases revoke the sanctuary city status of illegal immigrants and allow them to more easily be deported.
  • This obviously is a hypocritical view, given his long term view that all illegal immigrants were welcome in his city.
  • Specifically: "The overwhelming amount of migrants that are here, they want to work; I still don't understand why the federal government's not allowing them to work. They need to have the right to work like all of us that have come to this country had the ability to do so. But those small numbers that are committing crimes, we need to modify the sanctuary city law that if you commit a felony, a violent act, we should be able to turn you over to [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] and have you deported. It is a right to live in this city, and you should not be committing crimes in our city."
  • He actually went so far as to predict that the influx of so many illegal immigrants into his city might actually destroy the city.
It is so easy to be compassionate when there are no costs involved. But as Adams has found out, ignoring Federal immigration laws come with a price, and that price is higher taxes, less government services, and a skyrocketing crime rate, much of which is driven by individual and the presence of South and Central American gang elements who have infested city under the cover of being a sanctuary city.

3)The Biden administration wanted to do two things with recent “green” initiatives: they wanted to fund the placement and cost of installing electric car charging stations around the country, at taxpayer expense, and they wanted to place those charging stations in lower income communities as an economic incentive. That was how the program was sold.

But as with almost all government programs,. The promise of a government project never matches the reality of its implementation:
  • This effort is part of the Inflation Reduction Act, a misnomer of a piece of legislation if there ever was one, an inflation reduction act that substantially increases government deficit spending which in turn increases inflation.
  • The law was specifically designed for “low income” and “non-urban” areas.
  • Just that intention alone shows how stupid the law is, these are the two areas where electric cars are least likely to be and least likely to need charging stations.
  • But these area designations were really just a smokescreen for the Biden administration since they have since classified some of the wealthiest areas in the country as “low income” and “non-urban,” allowing those with money to get tax benefits at the expense of lower and middle class taxpayers.
  • Some of these ”low income areas” that Biden has designated include Martha’s Vineyard, Montauk and Fishers Island in New York.
  • Many of the Martha Vineyard’s homes where these charging stations will be placed sell for over $ 1 million,, some sell for over $2 million and Obama’s estate on the island is valued at $11.7 million and yet Federal taxpayer money will help pay for charging stations on the island.
  • Fishers Island in New York has been the multi-generational vacation homes of rich American families like the Duponts, the Roosevelts, the Rockefellers, and other wealthy families.
  • Montauk is also the home of many, many homes that sell for millions of dollars and yet those residents will reap the benefits of Federal government taxpayer subsidized electric car charging stations.
  • And this waste of Federal taxpayer money is not restricted to the east coast since many wealthy areas around the country will also benefit.
  • For example, Beverly Hills in California, a neighborhood where the average home is probably worth over a million dollars, will get the benefit of the program.
Just another example of a government program that was supposed to do one thing ends up doing something entirely different. And the loser, as always, is the middle class and low income taxpayers whose hard earned wealth goes to subsidize the wealthy and the politically connected.

4)Over the years we have probably pointed out thousands of examples of how corrupt the American political class has become. From their self enrichment schemes, using government information to favorably invest in the stock market, to providing government contracts and taxpayer wealth to themselves, their families, and their political cronies, the corruption seems endless.

But for whatever reason, Washington powers to be have actually decided to prosecute the corruption of one of their own, New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez. Whether they actually decided to have integrity (doubtful) or possibly because his corruption was so bad and obvious that it endangered their get rich schemes, the good Senator seems to get in deeper and deeper from an alleged law breaking perspective:
  • He and his wife recently got hit with an 18 count indictment for obstruction of justice.
  • The charges are tied to bribery accusations relative to the governments of Egypt and Qatar.
  • This comes on the heels of a New Jersey man who recently pleaded guilty to similar charges and has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors relative to Menendez.
  • These new 18 charges follow onto previous criminal charges for conspiracy, bribery, bank fraud, and acting as a foreign agent.
  • When government agents raided his home relative to the alleged crimes, they found hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, far more than his annual Senate salary, along with gold bars, definitely not part of his Senate salary.
  • Despite the overwhelming evidence, he has taken the coward’s way out, actually playing the race card, claiming that because he is Latino, the world is targeting him: “It is not lost on me how quickly some are rushing to judge a Latino and push him out of his seat. I am not going anywhere.”
Keep in mind that these are just criminal charges, he is not guilty until proven guilty in a court of law. But it is interesting that he has been singled out while others in power, Pelosi, Biden, and others are alleged to be maybe just as corrupt but they get to keep their positions, their riches, and stay out of jail. The hypocrisy of the political class knows no bounds.

That will do it for today’s insanity: the Washington political class finally goes after one of its own, Biden subsidizes his rich friends, Adams finally goes “whoops”, and overtaxing the rich still makes no sense.

November, 2017, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: Record Low Temps Possible, Brainwashing in California, and 400 Reasons NOT to Believe the Global Warming Myth

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in manmade global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of manmade global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:
  • Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
  • Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
  • Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control of our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.
To see the past posts and the multitude of evidence that we have compiled that showed it is perfectly okay to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, enter the phrase "global warming doubter” in the search box above or go through the monthly historical posts listed on the right side of this page.

Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaims.

1) The proper use of science and the scientific method is to look at all possible data and information, look at these sources of information from a wide variety of angles, and then put together a logical hypotheses of reality that encompasses all possible variations and possibilities. The scientist is really a detective, sifting through potential clues, evaluating their merit, and finding an overarching connection between them to form a correct view of reality.

That is unless you live in California. According to the governor of California, if your view of manmade global warming does not agree with his, based on research and scientific reviews that you have come across, than you need to be brainwashed to ignore any piece of science and research that does not support the governor’s view, i.e. manmade global warming is killing the planet. That is apparently how science works in the head of current California governor, Jerry brown.

According to reporting from the Sacramento Bee newspaper, Brown was recently speaking at an event organized by the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences when he opined: “The problem … is us. It’s our whole way of life. It’s our comfort … It’s the greed. It’s the indulgence. It’s the pattern. And it’s the inertia….At the highest circles, people still don’t get it,” he said. “It’s not just a light rinse” that’s required. “We need a total, I might say ‘brainwashing. We need to wash our brains out and see a very different kind of world.”

Of course, if you disagree with someone and who does not immediately call for that person to be brainwashed? The hell with science, the hell with reason, the hell with respecting the right of someone to hold a contrary position, let’s just brainwash them. This is the kind of dangerous nonsense that exists within the American political class today.

2) The Rightwise website recently reported on how “Global Warming Advocates Face Record Low Temps,” based on a recent Weather Channel forecast: “This is an important topic of discussion today because just recently the weather channel has informed the public that the country in many parts will be facing below-freezing weather conditions that could break records. The fact that we are getting weather this cold disrupts the global warming argument completely. Arguments for global warming are hard to corroborate when the temperatures are getting this low. The Weather Channel just made the following report, “An arctic blast will slide across parts of the Midwest and Northeast into the weekend,” stated the forecasting service. “Many cities in the Midwest and Northeast will see their coldest temperatures so far this season. Daily record lows could be threatened in some cities.””

"Daily record lows" does not seem like a warming trend.

3) The Tea Party Journal website recently updated some research they had conducted earlier in the year relative to global warming having not risen much at all over the past two decades or so:
  • Earlier in the year, the Journal had identified 58 scientific research papers that were published in early 2017 and which all concluded that global warming, manmade or other, had not increased substantially for a long time.
  • Since that early 2017 count the number of published research papers is now up to 400, all of which cast doubts on the myth of manmade global warming.
  • In general, the hundreds of research papers concluded that: “Modern temperatures, sea levels, and extreme weather events are neither unusual nor unprecedented. Many regions of the Earth are cooler now than they have been for most of the last 10,000 years.”
  • Many of the studies attributed climate change to natural influences including the sun (106 papers), cloud cover variations, oceanic atmospheric oscillations (37 papers), and other sources, concluding that any climate changes due to mankind would be difficult or impossible to even detect.
  • Much of the research also concluded that advocating for renewable energy sources are often expensive, ineffective, and sometimes detrimental to the environment.
  • At the same time, the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere, regardless of its source, has resulted in a greener planet and increased crop yields, helping to reduce famine and starvation.
Wow, 400 scientific efforts and research all concluding that man made global warming is either non-existent or impossible to detect, given the mighty forces of nature that have been driving the Earth's climate for millions of years. Below are some summary of results from some of the research papers:

Li et al., 2017: “It has been widely suggested from both climate modeling and observation data that solar activity plays a key role in driving late Holocene climatic fluctuations by triggering global temperature variability and atmospheric dynamical circulation."

Yndestad and Solheim, 2017: “Periods with few sunspots are associated with low solar activity and cold climate periods. Periods with many sunspots are associated with high solar activity and warm climate periods.”

Tejedor et al., 2017: “The main driver of the large-scale character of the warm and cold episodes may be changes in the solar activity.”

Belolipetsky et al., 2017: “It is well known that most short term global temperature variability is due to the well-defined ENSO natural oscillation (e.g. El Nino, La Nina)”

Park et al., 2017: “According to our results, the central Mexican climate has been predominantly controlled by the combined influence of the 20-year Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) and the 70-year Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO).”

Lim et al., 2017: “Our study demonstrated that flood frequency and climate changes at centennial-to-millennial time scales in South Korea have been coupled mainly with ENSO activity.”

Conroy et al., 2017: “20th century precipitation variability in southern Tibet falls within the range of natural variability in the last 4100 yr, and does not show a clear trend of increasing precipitation as projected by models.”

Verdon-Kidd et al., 2017: “Overall, the inter-annual and inter-decadal variability of rainfall and runoff observed in the modern record (Coefficient of Variation (CV) of 22% for rainfall, 42% for runoff) is similar to the variability experienced over the last 500 years (CV of 21% for rainfall and 36% for runoff).”

Viterito, 2017: “This yields a coefficient of determination of .662, indicating that HGFA [high geothermal flux area, i.e. volcanoes] seismicity accounts for roughly two-thirds of the variation in global temperatures since 1979.”

Huhtemaa and Helama, 2017: “[M]ore than half of the agricultural crises in the study region can be associated with cooling caused by volcanism.”

Blaauw, 2017: “This paper demonstrates that global warming can be explained without recourse to the greenhouse theory.”

Munshi, 2017: “…No evidence is found that changes in atmospheric CO2 are related to fossil fuel emissions at an annual time scale.”

Reinhart, 2017: “Our results permit to conclude that CO2 is a very weak greenhouse gas and cannot be accepted as the main driver of climate change.”

Blackall, 2017: “The science publication Nature Climate Change this year published a study demonstrating Earth this century warmed substantially less than computer-generated climate models predict. Unfortunately for public knowledge, such findings don’t appear in the news.”

Rosenblum and Eisenman, 2017: “Observations indicate that the Arctic sea ice cover is rapidly retreating while the Antarctic sea ice cover is steadily expanding. State-of-the-art climate models, by contrast, typically simulate a moderate decrease in both the Arctic and Antarctic sea ice covers.”

Janković and Shultz, 2017: “[A] preindustrial climate may remain a policy goal, but it is unachievable in reality.”

Heard et al., 2017: “While many modelled scenarios have been published claiming to show that a 100% renewable electricity system is achievable, there is no empirical or historical evidence that demonstrates that such systems are in fact feasible.”

Qiao et al., 2017: “BEVs [Battery Electric Vehicles] are designed to obtain more environmental benefits, but the energy consumption and GHG emissions of BEV production are much larger than those of ICEV [Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles] production in China.”

Frick et al., 2017: “Our results suggest that wind energy development may pose a substantial threat to migratory bats in North America.”

The Journal article points out that if you include the 500 papers in 2016 that pooh poohed the manmade global warming theory, then Jerry Brown certainly has a lot of brainwashing to do, given that 900 scientific papers hold a directly opposite point of view.
