November, 2017, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: Record Low Temps Possible, Brainwashing in California, and 400 Reasons NOT to Believe the Global Warming Myth

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in manmade global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of manmade global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:
  • Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
  • Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
  • Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control of our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.
To see the past posts and the multitude of evidence that we have compiled that showed it is perfectly okay to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, enter the phrase "global warming doubter” in the search box above or go through the monthly historical posts listed on the right side of this page.

Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaims.

1) The proper use of science and the scientific method is to look at all possible data and information, look at these sources of information from a wide variety of angles, and then put together a logical hypotheses of reality that encompasses all possible variations and possibilities. The scientist is really a detective, sifting through potential clues, evaluating their merit, and finding an overarching connection between them to form a correct view of reality.

That is unless you live in California. According to the governor of California, if your view of manmade global warming does not agree with his, based on research and scientific reviews that you have come across, than you need to be brainwashed to ignore any piece of science and research that does not support the governor’s view, i.e. manmade global warming is killing the planet. That is apparently how science works in the head of current California governor, Jerry brown.

According to reporting from the Sacramento Bee newspaper, Brown was recently speaking at an event organized by the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences when he opined: “The problem … is us. It’s our whole way of life. It’s our comfort … It’s the greed. It’s the indulgence. It’s the pattern. And it’s the inertia….At the highest circles, people still don’t get it,” he said. “It’s not just a light rinse” that’s required. “We need a total, I might say ‘brainwashing. We need to wash our brains out and see a very different kind of world.”

Of course, if you disagree with someone and who does not immediately call for that person to be brainwashed? The hell with science, the hell with reason, the hell with respecting the right of someone to hold a contrary position, let’s just brainwash them. This is the kind of dangerous nonsense that exists within the American political class today.

2) The Rightwise website recently reported on how “Global Warming Advocates Face Record Low Temps,” based on a recent Weather Channel forecast: “This is an important topic of discussion today because just recently the weather channel has informed the public that the country in many parts will be facing below-freezing weather conditions that could break records. The fact that we are getting weather this cold disrupts the global warming argument completely. Arguments for global warming are hard to corroborate when the temperatures are getting this low. The Weather Channel just made the following report, “An arctic blast will slide across parts of the Midwest and Northeast into the weekend,” stated the forecasting service. “Many cities in the Midwest and Northeast will see their coldest temperatures so far this season. Daily record lows could be threatened in some cities.””

"Daily record lows" does not seem like a warming trend.

3) The Tea Party Journal website recently updated some research they had conducted earlier in the year relative to global warming having not risen much at all over the past two decades or so:
  • Earlier in the year, the Journal had identified 58 scientific research papers that were published in early 2017 and which all concluded that global warming, manmade or other, had not increased substantially for a long time.
  • Since that early 2017 count the number of published research papers is now up to 400, all of which cast doubts on the myth of manmade global warming.
  • In general, the hundreds of research papers concluded that: “Modern temperatures, sea levels, and extreme weather events are neither unusual nor unprecedented. Many regions of the Earth are cooler now than they have been for most of the last 10,000 years.”
  • Many of the studies attributed climate change to natural influences including the sun (106 papers), cloud cover variations, oceanic atmospheric oscillations (37 papers), and other sources, concluding that any climate changes due to mankind would be difficult or impossible to even detect.
  • Much of the research also concluded that advocating for renewable energy sources are often expensive, ineffective, and sometimes detrimental to the environment.
  • At the same time, the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere, regardless of its source, has resulted in a greener planet and increased crop yields, helping to reduce famine and starvation.
Wow, 400 scientific efforts and research all concluding that man made global warming is either non-existent or impossible to detect, given the mighty forces of nature that have been driving the Earth's climate for millions of years. Below are some summary of results from some of the research papers:

Li et al., 2017: “It has been widely suggested from both climate modeling and observation data that solar activity plays a key role in driving late Holocene climatic fluctuations by triggering global temperature variability and atmospheric dynamical circulation."

Yndestad and Solheim, 2017: “Periods with few sunspots are associated with low solar activity and cold climate periods. Periods with many sunspots are associated with high solar activity and warm climate periods.”

Tejedor et al., 2017: “The main driver of the large-scale character of the warm and cold episodes may be changes in the solar activity.”

Belolipetsky et al., 2017: “It is well known that most short term global temperature variability is due to the well-defined ENSO natural oscillation (e.g. El Nino, La Nina)”

Park et al., 2017: “According to our results, the central Mexican climate has been predominantly controlled by the combined influence of the 20-year Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) and the 70-year Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO).”

Lim et al., 2017: “Our study demonstrated that flood frequency and climate changes at centennial-to-millennial time scales in South Korea have been coupled mainly with ENSO activity.”

Conroy et al., 2017: “20th century precipitation variability in southern Tibet falls within the range of natural variability in the last 4100 yr, and does not show a clear trend of increasing precipitation as projected by models.”

Verdon-Kidd et al., 2017: “Overall, the inter-annual and inter-decadal variability of rainfall and runoff observed in the modern record (Coefficient of Variation (CV) of 22% for rainfall, 42% for runoff) is similar to the variability experienced over the last 500 years (CV of 21% for rainfall and 36% for runoff).”

Viterito, 2017: “This yields a coefficient of determination of .662, indicating that HGFA [high geothermal flux area, i.e. volcanoes] seismicity accounts for roughly two-thirds of the variation in global temperatures since 1979.”

Huhtemaa and Helama, 2017: “[M]ore than half of the agricultural crises in the study region can be associated with cooling caused by volcanism.”

Blaauw, 2017: “This paper demonstrates that global warming can be explained without recourse to the greenhouse theory.”

Munshi, 2017: “…No evidence is found that changes in atmospheric CO2 are related to fossil fuel emissions at an annual time scale.”

Reinhart, 2017: “Our results permit to conclude that CO2 is a very weak greenhouse gas and cannot be accepted as the main driver of climate change.”

Blackall, 2017: “The science publication Nature Climate Change this year published a study demonstrating Earth this century warmed substantially less than computer-generated climate models predict. Unfortunately for public knowledge, such findings don’t appear in the news.”

Rosenblum and Eisenman, 2017: “Observations indicate that the Arctic sea ice cover is rapidly retreating while the Antarctic sea ice cover is steadily expanding. State-of-the-art climate models, by contrast, typically simulate a moderate decrease in both the Arctic and Antarctic sea ice covers.”

Janković and Shultz, 2017: “[A] preindustrial climate may remain a policy goal, but it is unachievable in reality.”

Heard et al., 2017: “While many modelled scenarios have been published claiming to show that a 100% renewable electricity system is achievable, there is no empirical or historical evidence that demonstrates that such systems are in fact feasible.”

Qiao et al., 2017: “BEVs [Battery Electric Vehicles] are designed to obtain more environmental benefits, but the energy consumption and GHG emissions of BEV production are much larger than those of ICEV [Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles] production in China.”

Frick et al., 2017: “Our results suggest that wind energy development may pose a substantial threat to migratory bats in North America.”

The Journal article points out that if you include the 500 papers in 2016 that pooh poohed the manmade global warming theory, then Jerry Brown certainly has a lot of brainwashing to do, given that 900 scientific papers hold a directly opposite point of view.
