November, 2019, Part 4, Political Class Insanity: More Wasted Taxpayer Wealth In Baltimore, More Idiocy From Ocasio-Cortez, and More Intolerance From California Democrats.

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Baltimore had been in the news a few months ago when President Trump rightfully pointed out what a mess it was from a crime, rat infestation, and garbage perspective. And this mess was occurring despite the city constantly getting millions and millions of dollars in Federal taxpayer aid.

Specifically, Trump got into a very public spat with the Congressman whose district covered most of the city, Elijah Cummings, and how Cummings spent much more of his time trying to enrich his own wife and impeach Trump than caring and taking care of the voters in his district.

Unfortunately, since then Mr.Cummings has passed away. However, corruption still exists in his hometown of Baltimore as a recent Baltimore Sun report recently pointed out:

• An audit of the city’s finances showed that there were still massive accounting problems in tracking state and Federal grant dollars that were given to the city.
• Specifically: “Grant money coming into government coffers is not balancing out with what city agencies are spending.”
• According to the city auditor, Audrey Askew: “The city is not able to establish accurate balances of grant accounts.”
• One potential fallout is that the city could begin losing grant funding from the state and the Federal government due to these lax accounting results.
• Losing these funds could be a disaster since the city gets about $448 million a year in grants which is a whopping 16% of its total budget. 
• Not surprisingly, the city politicians were outraged even though in reality it is their job as the city’s leadership to make sure this does not happen: City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young: “I don’t understand how we can have a problem with grants. That has to really stop. If the grants don’t add up … the federal government is going to come and they’re going to want their money. We’re going to owe thousands, maybe millions of dollars.”
• He really wants it to stop but proposed no way to make it stop.
• And this is not a new problem, apparently the accounting has been awful for years and years.
• Back in 2014 an audit found that as much as $40 million in grant money was unaccounted for.
• In 2015 the Baltimore Housing Authority approved $6.2 million in questionable payments including granting city money to three dozen households that did not even reside in the city.
• Auditor Askew found that it was impossible to determine if the grant money was actually being spent as it was intended.

So, just another day of American government and politics. Wasted taxpayer money that vanishes, promises to fix a dysfunctional government accounting process that never gets fixed and politicians blaming everyone else but themselves.

2) I believe that when people are sworn into being members of Congress they swear to uphold the laws of the land. Of course, if any clown in Congress is going to renege on that promise, it is not a surprise that it is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Ocasio-Cortez has been a continuous flow of ignorance and arrogance, expounding on just about any topic and knowing nothing about any of those topics. But she recently broke her uphold the laws vow relative to rioting in New York City:

In Brooklyn recently, there was a violent demonstration because, shock, police were going to crackdown on subway toll evaders, so-called turnstile jumpers. Since this is law breaking, and the police are charged with enforcing the law, that is what they do. But Ocasio-Cortez thinks breaking the law is just fine:

• She said she was in support of the anti-police protest despite the police trying to do their job and preventing turnstile jumping.
• Specifically: “Ending mass incarceration means challenging a system that jails the poor to free the rich. Arresting people who can’t afford a $2.75 fare makes no one safer and destabilizes our community.”
• What in the world does that gibberish mean, putting poor people in jail is going to get rich people released from jail?
• If she does not want lawbreakers going to jail, then change the law, that is how a civilized society works.
• But if you are going to make the subways free, then where are you going to get the revenue to keep them running or had you not thought that far in advance or that deeply, your typical approach to a situation?
• By the way, some of the demonstrators/rioters attacked a bus with innocent people inside, no mention from the good Congresswoman if that was also okay to do.
• The good Congresswoman also did not have a view on some of the vile things the protesters were saying about the NYPD officers who were just doing their law enforcement jobs: “Punch that cop!” “Don’t let these pigs touch us,” “F—k NYPD,” and "NYPD KKK".

Rather than be a leader and coming up with solutions, she is a divider, supporting criminals and lawbreakers, supporting the spreading of hatred and not supporting the people that protect us everyday and who were just doing their jobs.

3) While we have very little regard for most American politicians regardless of where they reside in the country, the ones in California have been a source of a lot of material for this blog. Their ineptness to do anything right has turned California into a desperate, dirty, contaminated, and financially ruined entity.

But we also need to add hypocrisy to their negative traits. Liberal California politicians were quick to jump down Trump’s throat when he looked to impose a travel ban to prevent Islamic terrorists from coming into the country, calling him among other things a bigot and intolerant. How dare he discriminate against others who simply have a different opinion or religion from him!

But their hypocrisy shines through when the shoe is on the other foot and they go nuts and take actions against other Americans who have a different opinion than them:

• If your state has a different view on LGBTQ rights or abortion, then you must be punished, according to California politicians, they have no tolerance for such nonsense in their eyes.
• According to San Francisco Mayor London Breed: “Just as we restricted spending with states that have laws that discriminate against LGBTQ people, we are standing up against states that put women’s health at risk and that are actively working to limit reproductive freedoms. By limiting travel and contracting with certain states, we are sending a clear message to states that disregard the right to abortion.”
• Never mind that his city is financially headed for bankruptcy, that his city streets are filled with mountains of human excrement and garbage, that there are tens of thousands of homeless wandering his streets, he is focused on debasing the views of people across the country that have nothing to do with his city.
• The states that him and fellow politicians have blacklisted for daring to have a different opinion are: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
• City employees and organizations are not allowed to use city tax revenue to travel to these, in reality a travel ban, the same thing that they went crazy against when Trump proposed it.
• But Trump did it to keep out Islamic terrorists, these San Francisco folks do it to punish law abiding Americans exercising their voting and First Amendment rights.

That will do it for today: more intolerance from liberal politicians, more idiocy from our favorite politician for crazy statements and views, and more corruption and wasted taxpayer wealth. It never ends.

November, 2019, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: Wasting $2.4 Million On Bathrooms, Liberals Turn on Hillary,and Obama's Ego Is Alive and Still Huge

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) We have often showed that public education is not in a really good place in this country and has not been in a good place for years. Our kids constantly score less on standardized tests vs. the kids of other nations despite us spending far more on education than every other country. And yet we constantly come across idiocy when it comes to spending and educational priorities in the public education system as Pennsylvania recently illustrated:

• The Eastern Lancaster County (Pennsylvania) School District has apparently resolved all of the problems they have regarding education their kids because no other reason can explain what they recently decided to do.
• Their leadership decided to spend a whopping $2.4 million at their Garden Spot High School to get rid of “gendered” locker rooms.
• They are going to be replaced with so-called “zoned” facilities that can be used by any student regardless of their sex, natural or “identified.”
• In other words, the schools district is going to incur a $2.4 million expense to cater to the needs of any transgender students, who are likely a very, very small portion of the student body.
• According to the Lancaster Online website: “The step forward represents a “huge win” for Elanco students, district Superintendent Bob Hollister said. I think the privacy is going to be well-received.” Privacy has been a major issue of late. Elanco school board members, administrators and residents had debated for months a student privacy policy following community backlash over the district’s decision to allow a transgender boy to use the boys’ facilities at the high school.”
• According to Board President Glenn Yoder: “This is going to be for the good of all students.” 

It appears that this is not about a very, very small percentage of students, this is about a single student. But this is not the school board’s money so why not waste on a $2.4 million project for one student, it is the taxpayers’ money. Are we saying that there was not a much more economical solution where everyone gave a little and most of the $2.4 million could have been steered to better, education use?

The average teacher salary in the state of Pennsylvania is about $68,000 which means that this $2.4 million idiocy could have hired about 35 teachers for a single year, or five teachers for seven years. I am pretty sure that adding five teachers for a long period of time would have been a much better use of $2.4 million regardless of how inane someone thinks that “this is going to be for the good of all students.” Stupid statement and another example of government wasting hard earned taxpayer wealth.

2) Bill Maher is a raging Hollywood liberal. A lot of his previous statements about politics and politicians has been down right crude and disgusting and directed at conservatives and Republicans. As always, who really cares what a Hollywood liberal thinks?

But you do stand up and take notice when someone like Maher actually criticizes a Democrat. Hillary Clinton kind of made a fool of herself at the recent funeral of Elijah Cummings. She continues to prove that she has the warmth of a cold Arctic night.

And she has finally gotten under the skin of a Hollywood liberal in Maher:

• Maher went on TV and suggested that Clinton skip the Democratic convention next year and just “go away.”
• Specifically, Maher said: “It seems like every few months, Hillary Clinton bubbles up again. And people are like, ‘Oh, she’s thinking about running.’ Or she says something crazy...The Clintons, they’ve got to go away.”
• And he also took a shot at Hillary’s husband: “And Bill is damaged goods. And I just think they’ve got to go away. We can’t be associating them with the Democratic Party.”

Again, I never listen to the many repulsive and disgusting things Maher has said over the years about people who have a different opinion than his. But you know it is time for Hillary to hang it up if even Bill Maher cannot stand you anymore.

3) We have previously discussed the unbridled ego of Barack Obama. When Neil Armstrong died, the Obama White House released a picture not of Neil Armstrong but of Obama looking up in the sky. When the anniversary of Rosa Parks bus protest came around, rather publish a picture of Rosa Parks, the Obama White House released a picture of Obama sitting in the seat where Rosa Parks sat. When speaking at the funeral of Democratic Senator Daniel Inouye, Obama mentioned himself many more times than he mentioned the late Senator.

And apparently his self centeredness has not changed since leaving office:

• According to David Curl, writing for the Daily Wire website, Obama spoke at the funeral of Congressman Elijah Cumnings.
• According to Mr. Curl: “Cummings was a civil rights icon. Born in 1951 to sharecropper parents, he was destined for big things. When he was just 11, he led a group of boys to a whites-only pool in Baltimore and jumped in. Whites protested, holding up signs that said, “Keep Our Pool Germ Free” and “White People Have Rights Too,” the Washington Post reported. At one point, a mob “surrounded the pool, held back by a line of police with K-9 dogs, while the kids tried to splash and play. Then, over the police officers’ heads, the mob threw rocks and bottles. One of them hit Cummings in the face, cutting his eyebrow and leaving a scar he carried all his life.”
• He went on: “Cummings attended college and then got his law degree. He served for 14 years in the Maryland House of Delegates and then won election to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served until his death Oct. 17 at age 68.”
• Obviously, Cummings did a lot of good, courageous stuff in his life.
• But when Obama got up to speak at his funeral, in just a 15 minute speech, Obama mentioned HIMSELF 30 times, or two times a minute.
• Obama used the word “I” 24 times, the word “me” 3 times and the word “my” another three times.
• But his out sized vanity should not surprise us.
• Back in April he gave a speech in Germany where he was supposed to talk about community leadership and civic engagement relative to his foundation.
• But during a 90 minute town hall style meeting he somehow mentioned himself a mind boggling 467 times, more than 5 times a minute over a 90 minute session.

I never trusted people with big egos because they do things for the wrong reasons, their own self esteem rather than what is best for the people they are leading. Given the failed legacy of the Obama administration, where nothing good came out of it with the exception being the killing of Bin Laden, it should not surprise us that Obama continues to try and assure himself he is more important than he or his administration ever were. Given that his big ego resulted in a failed Presidency, maybe a little humility would have served him well.

Wasting $2.4 million of taxpayer money for no good reason, even liberals are turning on Hillary, and Obama’s ego is still high inflated, a good start for this month's political class insanity.

August, 2019, Part 2, Political Class Insanity: Declawing Cats In New York, Telling White People To Shut Up and More

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Let’s start today’s political class insanity up in Albany, New York. Apparently there are no homeless New Yorkers any more that require the attention of the state’s politicians. The state has made sure there are no residents that go hungry every night. The state has made sure that every drug addict gets the medical and substance abuse treatment that they need. The state has no roads, dams, or bridges that are falling down.

This has to be the case since the state legislature has just wrapped a landmark piece of legislation that will become law: in New York state it is now illegal to declaw a cat. Doing a declawing would result in up to a $1,000 fine. Why else would the state’s politicians focus on such a low priority unless the homelessness, hunger, drug addiction, and a crumbling infrastructure problems have been remedied? 

I am sure that if you polled every New York state resident the problem of declawed cats would not crack the top 50, maybe not the top 100 issues facing the residents of that state. And yet that is what politicians are focusing on. Insane priorities.

2) The city of Baltimore is not in good shape. It has a very high crime rate. Its murder rate results in over 300 citizens being murdered every year. And while Chicago may have the most murders every year, Baltimore has the highest murder rate every year. While the national unemployment rate is under 4%, the unemployment rate in Baltimore is still above 5%. The Baltimore poverty rate is almost 24% vs. about 15% for the rest of the country. And according to pest removal service Orkin, Baltimore ranks ninth in the country when it comes to rat infestation.

Given this background, the President has been in a battle of words with Baltimore Congressman Elijah Cummings over the past few weeks. This began after Cummings viciously and nastily attacked those Federal agents along the southern border who are protecting us from illegal entrants to the country, basically doing their jobs by enforcing the laws of the land. Trump rightfully took offense at the attacks on these agents and suggested that Cummings take better care of his own home district rather than worrying about what was going on at the southern border, a district that we just showed was in dire shape.

Given that Elijah Cummings is an African-American, Democrats immediately called Trump a racist for what was clearly not a racist exchange of words. Trump merely pointed out that the citizens of Cummings district are suffering more than most Americans and maybe he should focus on them.

This all resulted in some very bad optics for Democrats and Nancy Pelosi in particular. You see, it appears that the Democrats in Congress recently took a boondoggle trip, at taxpayer expense overseas. They visited Italy and then flew down to the country of Ghana. While in Italy, Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement in support of Cummings: “Elijah Cummings is a champion in the Congress and the country for civil rights and economic justice, a beloved leader in Baltimore, and deeply valued colleague. We all reject racist attacks against him and support his steadfast leadership.”

Two things wrong with this statement, the first of which we already alluded to: his steadfast leadership has resulted Baltimore remaining a criminal and financial mess. But even more pathetic is that Pelosi issued this statement from Venice, Italy where her and her Democratic friends were staying at a five star hotel and dining at the world famous, and very expensive, Harry Cipriani restaurant, all at taxpayer expense. 

This is essentially Pelosi’s Marie Antoinette moment of “let them eat cake,” as she takes time out from her expensive trip, eating at expensive restaurants, staying at expensive hotels, and I am sure flying at expensive rates to say that Cummings is doing a great job while ignoring the realities listed above. The elite in this country continue to get more and more elite and entitled while ignoring the reality of Americans in need. Bon appetit Nancy.

3) A politician’s job should be to represent those that elected them in a dignified and diplomatic manner, serving as a leader to promote harmony and cooperation across all views and opinions in order to arrive at the optimal solution to problems facing the country. Well, maybe that is the way it used to be. 

The Democratic National Committee recently held a gathering for Democrats/liberals who might be good candidates to become the next Democratic National chairperson. One candidate who thought she would be a good person for the job is Sally Boynton Brown, who is currently the executive director of Idaho’s Democratic Party. 

Ms. Brown made the following pitch for the job on what she thinks needs to be done for the Democratic Party [note: my emphasis added]: “My job is to listen and be a voice and shut other white people down when they want to interrupt...We pull people in and they are volunteers. They don’t know anything and then we send them out to have conversations with people, hard conversations. We promote them to chair of a party where they have power and they have no clue what they are doing. We have to, at the DNC, provide training. We have to teach them how to communicate, how to be sensitive and how to shut their mouths if they are white. So I think I made my point.”

And liberals think Trump is racist because he points out the reality that Cummings’ Congressional district is a hellhole? “Shut their mouths if they are white?” I thought that Democrats/liberals were the tolerant ones, the all inclusive, big tent ones, those that cared about everyone? Apparently I was wrong and that American politics, at least from this Democratic official is about shutting [white] people down rather than respecting their opinion, views, and insights.

4) One last observation for today’s insanity. There is an old saying that goes, “Do not ask a question that you do not want an answer to.” Democrats in Congress recently dragged Robert Mueller in front of them in an attempt to find something, anything that they could use to impeach Trump. The Mueller Russian collusion investigation gave them nothing so they desperately hoped that putting him front of Congress might shake something, anything loose that could be grown into impeachment.

Now it is my understanding that before anyone goes in front of Congress, Congressional staff brief, question, help, aid, and prep a witness so that the outcome is pre-determined and Congressional members get the answers they want. But apparently that did not happen here since according to the mainstream media Mueller’s testimony “was a catastrophe” and Mueller was “boring,” “sort of evasive,” “lost at times,” and gave a “shaky performance.”

Apparently Democrats were so desperate to get something on Trump that they violated the very basic tenet of do not ask a question you do not want an answer to: by not doing basic prep work for a simple Congressional hearing they embarrassed themselves, they embarrassed Mueller, and showed again how inept they are by not doing basic research ahead of time. 

Simple staff prep work would have proven that Mueller had nothing and would be an embarrassment to the whole effort. But Lord forbid politicians do anything logical, basic, and smart, as proven by the Mueller hearing disaster.

August, 2019, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: Underpaid Congress Members, More Wasteful Food Stamp Spending, and Where Did The MOney Go in Baltimore

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Before we get into the first piece of insanity today, let’s check some numbers and reality:

• Most credible sources put the total number of homeless Americans in this country at just over half a million citizens.
• The average household income in this country is generally estimated to be about $54,000.
• Members of Congress earn about $174,000 a year, more than three times what the average American household earns.

Given these realities consider a recent piece of legislation that has been proposed in Congress:

• Congressman Bennie Thompson has proposed a law that would ban members of Congress from sleeping in their offices and change the IRS rules so that members of the House of Representatives would be able to deduct up $3,000 in housing expense off of their annual tax returns.
• In addition, he wants to spend taxpayer money to turn a vacant building near the Capitol building into apartments that House members could rent.
• Apparently some members of the House actually live in their offices to save on housing costs.
• The organization, Citizens Against Government Waste, had some very appropriate views on this nonsense: "On May 16, 2018, Rep. Thompson introduced H.R. 5845, the ‘No Couches for Congress Act,' which would ban members of Congress from sleeping in their offices. He also proposed converting vacant residence halls near the Capitol into ‘affordable‘ housing for members of Congress, who make $174,000 per year. He claimed that it would be available for members who found housing costs to be ‘prohibitive. However, the claim that housing is unaffordable is belied by the average monthly cost of a studio apartment in Washington, D.C., which is $1,602, or less than 10 percent of members' annual salary. The average American spends 33 percent of his or her annual income on housing."
• The proposed legislation currently has 23 co-sponsors.

Of all the problems facing the country, the cost of housing for Congressional people in D.C. should be nowhere on anyone’s priority list. Congressman, you make three times the average income of the average American family, deal with it. Congressman, if you want to help out the housing needs of this country, forget about your selfish desires and put that money towards getting a roof over the half a million homeless Americans. Congressman, if you need housing help, what about members of your staff who earn far less than $174,000 a year, what about their suffering? And finally Congressman, the country owes $22 TRILLION in national debt, would it not kill members of Congress to show a little class and gumption and not add to that national debt with this selfish action?

Just another example that shows how out of touch these people are with the realities in this country.

2) Trump has been in a spitting contest with Congressman Elijah Cummings of Baltimore over the past few weeks. After Cummings unleashed a blistering, cruel, and false attack on those guarding our southern border, Trump properly came to their defense and suggested that Cummings should spend some time helping out his own home Congressional district and not worry about how our border security people are doing their job. As with most statements Trump makes, Democrats immediately called him a racist since Cummings is African-American despite Trump’s comments having nothing to do with race.

In addition, Trump is not wrong in calling Baltimore a bad, bad place to live, a topic that we will explore in a future post. In the meantime, consider the following reality as it relates to Cummings district:

• According to a recent Freedom Outpost article, Lynne Patton, regional administrator for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, $16 billion of Federal taxpayer money was spent in Cummings district just in 2018.
• This was more money than the Obama administration ever gave Cummings’ district.
• She also posed the simple and realistic question: what happened to all of that taxpayer money once we, the American taxpayer, gave it to you?
• The local paper, the Baltimore Sun, confirms that $15.7 billion went to the district in 2018.
• Since there are about 240,000 households in Cummings district, if we could bypass all bureaucracy relative to the $15.7 billion than each household in his district would have received $65,000 in Federal taxpayer benefits.
• Thus, each household would have been receiving 20% more than the average income of a typical American household.

Obviously there has to be some bureaucracy and overhead cost in managing $15.7 billion. But really, how does $15.7 billion NOT result in a vastly improved life style for Baltimore residents? 

3) Speaking of wasting taxpayer money, consider the latest results from the Federal government’s food stamp program:

• According to the latest analysis from Judicial Watch, the food stamp program continues to be waste infested.
• The Federal government spends over $900 million a year on “nutrition education” classes whose effectiveness cannot and has never been measured.
• A Federal audit found that these so-called SNAPEd programs cannot “be aggregated or reviewed.”
• In other words, we have no idea if we are getting our money’s worth for $900 million a year.
• The audit was done by the Government Accountability Office which also stated that a similar study was done 15 years ago which also found that the program’s benefits were not trackable or quantifiable 15 years ago.
• In other words, the government has spent billions of dollars on a program that we have no idea whether or not it works.
• While over 40 million Americans receive food stamp benefits but only about 4 million people participate in these programs.
• Thus, the program is spending $900 million to maybe education 4 million recipients every year or $225 per recipient EVERY year and it is unclear if the education makes any difference for only 10% of recipients.
• Oh, by the way, law enforcement officials in north Florida arrested 200 people last year for operating an extensive food stamp fraud ring which resulted in $3.7 million in food stamp funds being illegally diverted to cash and drugs.

June, 2019, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: Political Corruption in Minnesota and Washington and New Zealand Citizens Tell Their Government To Shove It,

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Elijah Cummings is a long term member of Congress. He has been one of the more vocal Democratic opponents of Trump, opponents who want Trump impeached for simply not liking him. But Cummings may want to idle back his public exposure, given the financial hanky panky that his wife may have been involved in, as discussed in a recent article by Madison Dibble on the Independent Journal Review website:

• Cummings wife, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, has been under pressure regarding alleged unethical and/or illegal behavior.
• It may turn out that she mingled two businesses that she oversaw, a consulting firm and a nonprofit.
• According to the article, “Rockeymoore Cummings’ for-profit consulting firm, Global Policy Solutions LLC, was paid more than $250,000 by her charity, the Center for Global Policy Solutions.”
• Apparently between 2013 and 2015, the nonprofit charity paid her consulting firm “management fees” that totalled over $250,000.
• Interestingly, both organizations share the same address.
• Her nonprofit is facing an IRS complaint that has been filed by the National Legal and Policy Center, that alleges she is using the charity for her personal benefit.
• The IRS complaint involves a Federal government contract that her consulting firm landed to oversee the “Leadership For Healthy Communities” in 2017, an effort that had the nonprofit listed as the “national program office.”
• The IRS concern is that the nonprofit is money laundering money for her personal use.
• Oh, by the way, certain organizations have contributed to the nonprofit, the same companies that have business interests that could be impacted by actions that Cummings takes as the chairman of the powerful House of Representatives Oversight committee.
• According to the article: “When a powerful chairman of a committee of the House of Representatives has a wife that is bringing in money from entities with interests before his Committee and she is not providing the transparency mandated by the IRS, there’s a serious problem.” 

If true, this is political corruption of the highest degree but not unheard of in Washington. Many times we have run across situation where an elected official uses their government position to benefit a relative, spouse, or child (e.g. Congresswoman Maxine Walters and her daughter, Senator Diane Feinstein and her husband). Which is why nothing ever gets accomplished by D.C politicians, they are too busy enriching themselves.

2) Many Democrats and liberals in this country want to violate the Constitution and greatly restrict the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights, the rights of Americans to bear arms to protect themselves, their families, and their freedom. They want to do so despite research and evidence that shows armed Americans make for a safer America. Which implies in my mind that, as always, they do not care about us, they only care about power and dominance.

Thus, it was refreshing to find out what happened in New Zealand when that country’s politicians tried to confiscate that country’s weapons from its citizens that legally owned guns under the current laws of New Zealand. Matt Agorist, writing for the Freedom Outpost website on June 7, 2019 explains:

• A few months ago New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that certain efforts would be made to confiscate certain guns of the citizens in that country.
• This was in response to a mass shooting that had occurred in that country on March 15, which was carried out by a lone gunman who killed dozens of people.
• According to Ardern: “On 15 March, our history changed forever. Now, our laws will too. We are announcing action today on behalf of all New Zealanders to strengthen our gun laws and make our country a safer place. What we’re banning today are the things used in last Friday’s attack. It’s about all of us, it’s in the national interest and it’s about safety.”
• But things did not go as planned since, as reported by the NZ Herald, citizens feel safer by holding onto their guns and not abdicating their responsibility for their own safety to the government.
• As a result, of the 250,000 New Zealanders that own the type of weapon that was banned, owning about 300,000 of the banned semi-automatic weapons, only 530 guns that have been banned have been turned over to the government.
• This comes out to about a .18% compliance rate, not 18%, not 1.8%, .18%.
• Government officials tried to explain away the non-compliance by saying that gun owners wanted more compensation from the government before voluntarily giving up their weapons.
• But let’s be honest, it is hardly plausible that 99.82% of gun owners were just waiting for a few more dollars but really were telling the government hands off their rights to have these types of weapons to protect themselves and their families.

This is another example of idiotic thinking by politicians. The only people who will lose in this type of confiscation mentality are innocent, law abiding citizens who have now been disarmed and left vulnerable to wacko criminals and terrorists. The wackos and terrorists are not going to give up their weapons, by definition they are wackos and terrorists.

And taking guns from law abiding citizens does not attack the root cause of gun violence. England found that out. They confiscated guns from law abiding citizens who are now being attacked by knife wielding criminals, wackos, and terrorists. This has led the politicians to put into effect an inane knife confiscation and control program.

Kudos to the good people of New Zealand who have the courage and foresight to ignore another idiotic program from their political class. The article sums up the insanity very nicely: "The protectionist attitude of taking guns from law abiding citizens to keep guns from criminals is ineffective, self-serving, one-sided and ignores the benefits of an armed society as well as history. 

And, it only serves to further the oppression of those who cannot defend themselves. While it would certainly be an amazing thought to be able to live in a world without guns, that is simply not the case. Until it is the case, anyone who wants to defend themselves and their family, should be able to do so in any manner they see fit — as the only other option is tyranny.”

3) Ilhan Omar is a first term Congresswoman from Minnesota. Although she just came into office this past January, it appears she has not wasted any time fitting in to the lawless and corrupt attitude and culture that is the American political class, as outlined in a recent article on the Patriot Brief website:

• This past week the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board ruled that Omar had committed campaign finance violations back in Minnesota.
• The board found that when Omar was a local politician back in Minnesota she used campaign money to fund her tax returns and pay for travel that did not involve her work duties.
• She has to pay back the money she abused and pay a measly additional fine of $500.
• Specifically: “Rep. Omar must personally reimburse the Omar committee $3,469.23. This reimbursement payment is the total amount of campaign funds that were used for purposes not permitted by statute in 2016 and 2017. Rep. Omar must provide documentation within 30 days from the date of this order showing the deposit of the reimbursement into the Omar committee’s account.”
• The board’s investigation also may have uncovered a reality that she has filed up to eight years of fraudulent Federal tax returns which could merit an IRS investigation.

The hypocrisy of the Democrats, and mainstream media, in Washington’s political class is very interesting in this case. While they clamor for a look at Trump’s tax returns for no other reason than an impeachment fishing expedition, they completely ignore the findings of the election board up in Minnesota who found one of their own guilty of campaign crimes and quite possibly serious IRS violations. Their silence is deafening.

That starts off this month’s political class insanity stream: illegal campaign fund mischief in Minnesota, hypocrisy in Washington, Congressional money laundering with a wife, and citizens in New Zealand tell their political class to shove it. More insanity to follow.

May, 2019, Part 9, Political Class Insanity: Kelsey Grammer Gets It Right, Democrats Love South American Despot, and A Democrat Gets Rich Via His Job and Wife

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Most of Hollywood is out of touch reality and thus, are extremely condescending when it comes to Trump and his supporters. These celebrities and actors/actresses live behind walls in their mansions and hang out with people of their same ilk with their same shallow and views of ordinary Americans. They cannot accept the reality that some common folks have a different opinion or view of life than them and dare to have a difference of opinion than theirs.

Thus, it is always quite refreshing when a Hollywood type actually gets it, that it is not liberals vs. conservatives, it is not Democrats vs. Republicans, it is the political class in total that is the enemy of the people and our freedoms. Such a person was written about on the Newbusters website by Kristine Marsh on May 15, 2019:

• On a recent PBS show, Amanpour and Company, Kelsey Grammer was being interviewed.
• Amanpour asked Grammer what it was like being a conservative in Hollywood when everyone else in Hollywood was a devout and often radical liberal.
• Amanpour tried to bait Grammer into saying something, anything negative about Trump.
• Instead, he correctly laid out why every Washington political has been at fault for the mess that that Washington has put the country into: “Oh yeah. I don’t think Washington didn't do us any favors for the last 50, 60 years, I think they’ve all been sort of the same party, the same bunch of clowns, the same bunch of really unpleasant people….And I don't think they've been helping anybody but themselves."

Yes, it is not just Democrats’ fault, it is not just Republicans’ fault, Grammer correctly points out that it is the Washington political class that is the root cause of our nation’s problems, politicians who are greedy, shallow, and incapable of identifying solutions to the major issues of our times.

2) Frank Vernuccio, writing for the Affluent Advisor website on May 14m 2019, laid out the insanity that some members of Congress actually support the current socialistic dictator in Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro. Much like his predecessor, Hugo Chavez, Maduro nationalized industries, rounded up and killed political opponents, and hollowed out the country’s democratic institutions. He used food as a devastating political weapon to starve those that did not agree with him and destroyed a once robust economy so badly that citizens could not even get their hands on toilet paper.

Starvation, destruction of wealth, citizens fleeing the country, lack of medical care, and a whole lot of other atrocities and yet some Democrats in Congress actually find this all acceptable:

• Forty nine countries across the world, including most of those in South and Central America, do not recognize Maduro as the lawful leader of the country so it is not just Trump and the U.S. that find Maduro’s conduct disgusting.
• But Trump and his State Department are definitely not big fans of Maduro: “Nicolas Maduro…has consistently violated the human rights and dignity of its citizens, plundered the country’s natural resources, and driven a once prosperous nation into economic ruin with his authoritarian rule and socialist economic policies. Maduro’s thugs have engaged in extra-judicial killings and torture, taken political prisoners, and severely restricted freedom of speech, all in a brutal effort to retain power.”
• And yet some Democrats in Congress actually support these types of oppression: Bernie Sanders, Tulsi Gabbard, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Ro Khanna, are all supportive of Maduro and his antics that kill, starve, and deprive his residents of toilet paper.

Venezuela is a perfect example of how socialism almost always devolves into a dictatorship and hardships and loss of freedom for citizens. And yet sitting members of Congress actually support this dictatorship and the hardships it imposes on Venezuelans. 

3) We have often concluded and proven that the American political class consists of people that are greedy, shallow, ineffective, and incapable of developing real solutions to real problems. But in my opinion, worst of all, is that these same people are almost always so hypocritical. This negative trait was recently reinforced by a recent such case that has come to light about the hypocrisy of a sitting member of Congress, Elijah Cummings:

• Cummings has been one of the noisiest and most ardent critics of Trump.
• He has also been a leader in Congress insisting that Trump turn over his tax returns in a vain attempt to try and find a reason, any reason, to impeach Trump.
• The theory is that if there are tax irregularities then Trump is toast.
• But Cummings is not the fountain of integrity when it comes to financial shenanigans.
• A recent complaint with the IRS alleges that Cyumings’ wife and her legal entities have illegally benefitted as a result of her husband’s position on the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform committee.
• Cummings, who was not close to be wealthy just a few years ago, got a great increase in his family’s wealth when his wife’s businesses suddenly started getting started getting millions of taxpayer dollars in Federal government grants and contracts.
• According to the Washington Examiner: “A charity run by the wife of Rep. Elijah Cummings received millions from special interest groups and corporations that had business before her husband’s committee and could have been used illegally, according to an IRS complaint filed by an ethics watchdog group. His wife, Maya Rockeymoore, 48, is the chairman of the Maryland Democratic Party and briefly ran in the state’s gubernatorial race last year. The couple married in 2008. Cummings was once heavily in debt — in part due to hefty child support payments to his first wife and two other women he had children with — but his financial situation has improved considerably over the past decade. Rockeymoore runs two entities, a nonprofit group called the Center for Global Policy Solutions and a for-profit consulting firm called Global Policy Solutions, LLC, whose operations appear to have overlapped, according to the IRS complaint filed by watchdog group the National Legal and Policy Center on Monday. The complaint states that the arrangement may have been used to derive “illegal private benefit.” Global Policy Solutions received more than $6.2 million in grants between 2013 and 2016, according to tax records. Several of the nonprofit group’s financial backers — which included Google, J.P Morgan, and Prudential — have business interests before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The largest contributor to the nonprofit organization was the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a company that is regulated by Cummings’ committee. The foundation, which gave a total of $5.5 million to Rockeymoore’s consulting firm and $5.2 million to her nonprofit group, ceased supporting her groups in 2017."
• The Examiner article goes on and on in detail about the shenanigans about Cummings’ wife and the self enrichment of the Cummings family.
• Hypocrisy of the highest degree and another example of how those in Washington are only in it for themselves, the country be damned.

Again, Grammer says it best when it comes to political class insanity: “Oh yeah. I don’t think Washington didn't do us any favors for the last 50, 60 years, I think they’ve all been sort of the same party, the same bunch of clowns, the same bunch of really unpleasant people….And I don't think they've been helping anybody but themselves.”

The insanity, and greed, never ends.
