Hillary and Barack: Liar, Liar, Pants (suit) On Fire, A Historical Perspective, Part 2

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie — deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." John F. Kennedy

I was originally going to write a post on the amazing number of outright lies that Hillary Clinton has put forth, both recently and historically. And there are a lot of them, making her no different than every other Washington politician. However, in researching her lies, I continued to come across the dozens and dozens of lies and deceptions of the current White House president, Barack Obama. Thus, as a warm up to today’s Hillary Clinton’s parade of lies, yesterday we reviewed the over seven years worth of lies and deceptions from the Obama administration.

Today, we will get to the original intent, reviewing the lies of Hillary Clinton over the years. The first and longest set of lies is based on the work of the Politifact website. The purpose of this website is to research and grade whether a politician's statement is true or false. It leans Democratic and liberal so when I find that it rates a Democrat’s statement as false it is usually REALLY false. Thus, the following review of Clinton lies is based on the fact finding and opinions of Politifact, not me:

Hillary Clinton: “The Clean Power Plan is something that Senator Sanders has said he would delay implementing.”

Politifact: False. Sanders has said he supports the Clean Power Plan.

Hillary Clinton: “You are three times more likely to be able to get a mortgage if you’re a white applicant than if you’re black or Hispanic, even if you have the same credentials.”

Politifact: False

Hillary Clinton: “We now have more jobs in solar than we do in oil.”

Politifact: False

Hillary Clinton: "I am the only candidate on either side who has laid out a specific plan about what I would do to defeat ISIS.”

Politifact: False. While she may have the longest and most detailed plan, she is hardly the only candidate with a plan and no one knows if it is a good plan.

Hillary Clinton: “Every piece of legislation, just about, that I have ever introduced (in the Senate) had a Republican co-sponsor.”

Politifact: False

Hillary Clinton: “We now have driven (healthcare) costs to the lowest they've been in 50 years.”

Politifact: False. And anyone who reads our monthly series of posts under the theme, “The Unfolding Disaster That Is Obama Care” knows that this is nowhere close to being true in any which way.

Hillary Clinton: “ISIS is going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists.”

Politifact: False. No evidence had emerged or was provided when she issued that statement. However, terrorist recruiting videos featuring her husband have emerged.

Hillary Clinton: “The gun industry is the only business in America that is wholly protected from any kind of liability.”

Politifact: False

Hillary Clinton: “The Benghazi probe is the longest running Congressional investigation ever.”

Politifact: False. With Politifact’s added commentary, “not by a long shot.”

Hillary Clinton: She stated that Wisconsin governor Scott Walker rejected state legislation to make college loan payments tax deductible and the result was “to raise taxes on students.”

Politifact: False. The proposed legislation never even made it to the governor’s desk to sign never mind him vetoing.

Hillary Clinton: “Not one of the 17 GOP candidates has discussed how the’d address the rising cost of college.”

Politifact: False. Politifact specifically cited Rubio as having a plan.

Hillary Clinton: "Hedge fund managers pay less in taxes than nurses and truck drivers.”

Politifact: False. Politifact commented that even given extreme leeway in interpreting her comments that it is not true.

Hillary Clinton: “All of my grandparents immigrated to America.”

Politifact: False. Close, if you assume that one out of her four grandparents is “all.”

Hillary Clinton: "The number of jobs created and people lifted out of poverty during Bill Clinton’s Presidency was a hundred times what it was under president Ronald Reagan."

Politifact: False. Not even close.

Hillary Clinton: “[Senator] McCain still thinks it’s okay when women don’t earn equal pay for equal work.”

Politifact: False. McCain never said any such thing, he just disagreed with a proposed bill on the subject.

Hillary Clinton: “If you are driving on average in America this summer you’ll save - according to Department of Energy figures, about $70.”

Politifact: False

Hillary Clinton: "I actually started criticizing the war in Iraq before [Obama] did."

Politifact: False. Clinton actually voted to go to war in Iraq while Obama voted against the move.

Hillary Clinton: “Obama only wants your children to have health insurance.”

Politifact: False. All of Obama's failed health insurance plans include adults also.

Hillary Clinton: She claimed that the difference between her and Barack Obama is “about 35 years of experience.”

Politifact: False. Which they sarcastically described Hillary with experience but not at math.

Hillary Clinton: “It’s just outrageous that under President Bush, the National Institutes of Health have been basically decreased in funding.”

Politifact: False. NIH funding was up under Bush.

There you have it, twenty blatant Hillary Clinton lies. The troubling thing about these twenty lies is that they are easily researched to see if they are false, something that the Politifact folks did. What other things has she falsely said or asserted that have not been checked out or which are difficult to check out? I am pretty sure that these are not the only twenty false deceptions she has uttered over the years.

The other troubling aspect of these lies and the lies and deceptions of all politicians is this: do they actually believe the lies themselves or do they hold us in such contempt that they think that we are too stupid to see through the lies? If they actually believe their own lies, than we as a nation are in big trouble since if they do not understand reality, their chances of being successful in reality are next to nothing.

And if they think we are too stupid to see through their lies than we have really devolved into a two part society: the elite and condescending political class and the rest of us, mistrusting each other so much that no issues ever get resolved as we play the cat and mouse game of who’s lying and who’s too stupid to understand they are being lied to.

But twenty lies is just the beginning. Consider the other lies she has spewed and have proven to be false:
  • Long ago when she landed in Bosnia, she claimed that her entourage came under sniper fire and they had to hurry into waiting vehicles to get safely away. However, actual video of her landing shows that sniper fire was not present or close to being present.
  • She claimed that the emails she deleted off of her private server when she was Secretary of State included a multitude of emails that she and her husband had exchanged. However, video proof shows her husband claiming that he had used the Internet only twice in his life and that was to order something from Amazon, not communicate with his wife as she asserted.
  • Hillary recently claimed that she had always been in favor of gay marriage. But again, actual video of her shows her claiming that marriage is a sacred vow between a man and a woman. She did not even try to use the Obama flip flop defense when his attitude on gay marriage “evolved,’ she just outright lied.
  • Hillary has recently claimed that she was against the NAFTA treaty, but as always, historical video shows that she was a big advocate of NAFTA long ago.
  • Andf who can forget her assertion long ago that she and her husband were the victims of a vast right wing conspiracy, a conspiracy that was never proven to exist.
  • And most recently, and most atrociously, she recently asserted that: "Now, is Libya perfect? It isn’t. Libya was a different kind of calculation and we didn’t lose a single person … We didn’t have a problem in supporting our European and Arab allies in working with NATO.” - Seems to me that we lost four brave Americans in Libya, Benghazi specifically. All because her and this administration did not take dozens of security warnings seriously and who refused to send help to save the lives of dozens of trapped Americans, four of whom who died.
Pathetic excuse for a leader, pathetic excuse for someone trying to be President. Lies, deceptions, and denial, lord help us.

December, 2014, Part 2, Politicians Say The Darndest Things: The Lies Of Obama, Better To Die From Smoke Than A Bullet, and Its Round Up Time

It’s the end of another year so I thought it might be a good idea to go back over the past twelve months and pull out some of the darndest quotes from members of the political class and their supporters. While the myth is that really smart people get involved with government and political office, in reality, based on the quotes of politicians we have brought to light over the past few years, the exact opposite is reality: we are currently served by a set of people that are shallow, selfish, and obviously incapable of having the mentality capacity or will to resolve the major issues facing the country. If they did have those attributes, one would have thought that the major issues facing us all, e.g. poor schools, leaky borders, high health care costs, etc. would have been resolved long ago.

To find previous reference to silly, inane, and stupid political quotes in this blog, just enter the phrase, “politicians say the darndest things,” in the search box above. As you will see, 2014 is not the only year that politicians have been putting their foot in their mouths and showing how incapable they are when it comes to governing and problem resolution.

1) Quote: “OK. I’m just going to come right out and say it: This is quite possibly the best minute and a half of audio we’ve ever come across — well, come across in a long time anyway. A massive brawl in Anchorage, Alaska, reportedly involving Sarah Palin’s kids and her husband. It was sparked after someone pushed one of her daughters at a party….And now police have released audio of that interview. It does include some rather colorful language from Bristol. Here now is Bristol’s recollection of how that night unfolded. So sit back and enjoy.” CNN anchor Carol Costello

Comment: A little more background on this quote and the referenced video. The colorful language occurs as a man is dragging Bristol Palin across the ground. Somehow, Ms. Costello thinks that this is hilariously funny, a small woman being physically dragged along the ground by her legs by a much larger man.

CNN has been a member of the mainstream media who has covered up most of the Obama administration’s failures and lies. They readily bought into the propaganda that Republicans were carrying out a “war on woman.”

But I guess it is okay to abuse women, drag them across the ground as long as they are not Democrats or liberals. Somehow, Costello and her bosses think this is “possibly the best minute and a half of audio we’ve ever come across.” I wonder if they would have had the same reaction if it was Chelsea Clinton or one of the Obama daughters being dragged across the ground.

I seriously doubt it, their hypocrisy and biased reporting and attitudes are so obvious…and so sickening. No woman deserves this abuse or ridicule, Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative.

2) Quote: “And I would like to point out that Ambassador [Chris] Stevens was not murdered. He died of smoke inhalation in the safe room in that CIA installation.” Eleanor Clift.

Comments: Eleanor Clift has been a long time liberal writer and TV commentator. In this quote and the words that preceded them she is trying to get the Obama administration off of the hook for the disaster and murders at the Benghazi compound in Libya. As most know, terrorists attacked the U.S. compound on September 11, 2012, an attack that resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Stevens, and the near death of two dozen other abandoned Americans.

The reason that the Ambassador was in the safe room was because of the violent attacks. He probably would have been murdered with a terrorist bullet if he was not inside the safe room. To say it is okay that he was not murdered by a bullet but because of smoke inhalation, assuming that is even true, is little comfort to his family and friends. He is unnecessarily dead because of Obama administration incompetency. Trying to spin his death as smoke inhalation to make it more palatable and get the administration off of the hook is nothing more than a cover up for a bumbling administration.

3) Quote: “You know, I’m a Christian preacher, and God finally said, ‘Look, I can’t send nobody else. I got to go myself.’ And I ain’t saying that Obama is Jesus, but for many of his followers he is.” MSNBC Commentator Eric Dyson.

Comment: Comparing Jesus or God to this President is beyond comical and obscene. If Obama was truly God or Jesus I doubt his approval rating would be so low, and falling, and his programs and policies would be such failures. He would be healing the country not allowing his association with people like Al Sharpton to rip it apart. Trust me, Mr. Dyson, this President is neither omnipotent or effective.

4) Quote: The police “seem to be leading to rounding up and executing of [sic] us as a people … Does America want to have a race war?" African-American Councilwoman Anastasia Robertson from Troy, New York, posted on Facebook claiming that African-Americans are being rounded up and executed.

Comment: Do we really think that an African-American President. or any President, would allow black people to be rounded up and executed as she believes? Somehow she actually got elected to public office with such craziness as this. It is highly doubtful that powers to be are going to round up tens of millions of Americans and execute them. Beyond pathetic and comical.

5) The following is a roundup of 2014 Presidential quotes and lies that the media, including media outlets that generally support the President and overlook his failures and scandals, found so inaccurate and misleading that even they were moved to comment that they were lies, not reality.

- Quote: The President claims that Republicans filibustered over 500 pieces of legislation.

Comments: Even on the surface this is apparently a deception or at least a gross exaggeration. Under Harry Reid, there were probably not even close to 500 pieces of legislation developed, never mind filibustered.

But let the Washington Post settle the question. According to the Post, the lie was so transparent that the Post noted that the President was referring to some pieces of legislation dating all the way back to when he was a Senator, including some votes against ending debate, votes that Obama himself made.

Quote: Obama claimed he never referred to ISIS as the JV team of terrorists.

Comment: The Washington Post also weighed in on this lie and quote. There so-called fact checker, Glenn Kessler, called it a top lie of the year when he was quoted in the Washington Free Beacon:

“I look at the issues that resonate with people and are big issues. So one of the major things was Barack Obama saying that he was not specifically referring to ISIS when he referred to a JV team.”

Kessler went on to say he actually he reviewed the New York Times transcript of Obama calling the Islamic State a “JV team,” and said “it was pretty clear” that Obama had lied.

- Quote: Obama claims that 7 million Americans got access to health care insurance and health care for the first time due to the Medicaid expansion within Obama Care.

Comments: The Washington Post reported that the 7 million people Obama claimed got health care insurance for the first time due to Medicaid expansion missed the mark by anywhere between 5.9 and 3.7 million people depending on estimates: “… here is the ultimate authority — the President of the United States — making the problematic claim that everyone counted under the administration’s Medicaid math is getting “access to health care for the first time.” He seems to be falling into the same trap as other Democrats, and some reporters, by assuming that everyone in the Medicaid list is getting health insurance for the first time because of the Affordable Care Act. But that number is nowhere close to 7 million.”

- Quote: Obama claims that his position on using executive actions on unilateral immigration reform ahs not changed over time: “Well, actually, my position hasn’t changed. When I was talking to the advocates, their interest was in me, through executive action, duplicating the legislation that was stalled in Congress. And getting a comprehensive deal of the sort that is in the Senate legislation, for example, does extend beyond my legal authorities. There are certain things I cannot do. There are certain limits to what falls within the realm of prosecutorial discretion in terms of how we apply existing immigration laws.”

Comments: Politifact’s research indeed found that Obama is “revising history” with his comments, and it’s “still a reversal from his positions over the past few years.”

When the Washington Post and Politifact cannot spin the Presidential lies enough to give them even a smidgen of truth, you know the Presidential lies and quotes are way over the line.

That will do it for this episode and update of politicians say the darndest things. A President who lies constantly, a member of the mainstream media who likes seeing a woman dragged across the ground by her legs, a liberal pundit who thinks it is okay that an ambassador was murdered by smoke inhalation and not a bullet, and a politician who thinks the government is rounding up tens of millions of Americans for execution.

Politicians, and those who report on politicians, say the darndest things and that is the shame of what we are living through in Washington and other political stops around the country.

January, 2014 The Unfolding Disaster That Is Obama Care, Part 1: The Top Ten Broken Promises

Every month since August, 2013 we have had to devote many posts each month to the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care. It is a piece of legislation that continues to rain down horror, fear, expenses, and negative health impacts on millions of Americans. It is easily the worst piece of legislation ever enacted by Washington and the most lied about piece of legislation by those who supported its enactment.

The biggest liar of all has been President Obama, whose was able to place three of his lies in the Washington Post’s “Top Ten Lie List of 2013.” One of his three lies in the top ten included the biggest lie of all, the “Lie of The Year,” when he promised “that if you like your health insurance policy you can keep you health insurance policy.”

The August set of Obama Care disaster posts began at the following link:

The September posts began at:

The October posts began at:

The November posts began at:

The December posts began at:

We promise to devote only five to six days this month to the disaster that is Obama Care. It is not that we will run out of material in that timeframe. There are enough disasters to start a new blog and file daily reports on how bad it is. I am currently sitting on well over two hundred articles, analyses, research papers, and personal experiences of suffering Americans around the country regarding the disaster that is Obama Care.

However, rather than wade through all of them, I will blitz through what I can in five or six days. That should be enough to prove again this month that Obama Care is the worst piece of legislation ever passed, it will have severe financial impacts at the household level and national economy level, and needs to be completely repealed as soon as possible, replaced with a plan that attacks the true root causes of how high health care costs.

Today we will focus only on an excellent article that recently appeared on the Newsmax website. It neatly summarized the ten worst program promises of the Obama Care saga (not all of the broken promises, just the ten most epic broken promises). The article and summary were written by Newsmax’s Cathy Burke and appeared on Sunday, 29 Dec 2013.

The following is Ms. Burke’s set up to the ten epic broken promises:

The Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010, but it was in 2013 that the health care reform law imploded into a nightmare of broken promises. Assertions made by the president and Health Secretary weeks ago, months ago and even years ago have over and over again proved to been misleading at best and completely untrue at worst.

No, you may not be able to keep your doctor or your plan. And, no, the website is not user-friendly.

According to Ms. Burke, and I do not disagree with her, here are the Top-10 Obama Care promises that were broken in 2013:

1. The website is simple and user-friendly

Hardly. Just days after is pathetic rollout, the Obama Care website was out of order for almost a week. During the first couple of months, people who tried to sign on either could not get access, were greeted with a notice that the system was not available, or if they did get on, they faced a very slow, plodding response time or had an experience where data was lost, asked for numerous times, etc.

That first significant crash in early October was not the last: on December 20, just three days before the deadline to sign up for coverage starting January 1, 2014, another outage lasted for several hours. For this despicable level of service the American taxpayer was billed over $600 million by an inept Kathleen Sebelius and her Federal Department of Health and Human Services.

2. "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan."

Obama first made this promise on June 6, 2009 and repeated it in dozens of forms and in dozens of forums over the past few years in a variety of slightly different but no less emphatic ways. This assertion was so wrong that the Washington Post made it its premier “Lie of The Year“ for 2013, which in turn, made the President the liar of the year for 2013.

PolitiFact also declared the vow to be its "lie of the year." Millions of Americans lost access to their preferred and current health care insurance policies directly as a result of Obama Care requirements. Many of those that were able to finally see if they could replace their preferred policies with something from the Obama Care exchanges promptly found out that Obama Care policies were almost always more expense from a monthly premium perspective and had deductible levels that were astronomical. In addition, many of these Obama Care policies had very restrictive doctor and hospital lists so many American lost access to their current, preferred doctors and lost access to some of the best hospitals in the country.

Sadly, many of these changes to doctors and hospitals were forced on many unhealthy Americans who were in the middle of serious medical treatment such as cancer treatments. As if they did not have enough to worry about, Obama Care unnecessarily forced them to switch doctors, hospitals, and possibly medicine access in the midst of what had to be stressful times.

Ms. Burke quotes respected Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer who correctly pointed out the underlying rationale for forcing people to buy new, more expensive, and often inferior policies, stating that Obama Care itself was a fraud from the beginning since the law "was designed to throw people off their private plans and into government-run exchanges where they would be made to overpay — forced to purchase government-mandated services they don’t need — as a way to subsidize others."

3. "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor."

This Obama 2009 promise was repeated many, many times since 2009 but was eventually also broken as Obama Care rolled out in 2013. Many insured Americans who lost access to their current insurance policy and the doctors associated with that policy found that not only did they need a new Obama Care policy but they very often ended up with a policy that excluded their preferred doctors.

The article offers the example of the 15,000 spouses of UPS employees who forced off of their spouse’s UPS insurance plan and have to seek out new plans on the individual market and via Obama Care exchanges, plans that are very likely not to include their usual doctor.

4. Premiums will fall by as much as $2,500 per family

Another promise directly out of the President’s mouth and another promise that has no chance of coming true, as millions of Americans are finding out so far. According to Forbes and a Manhattan Institute analysis of the government Obama Care numbers, Obama Care will actually jack up health insurance rates for young men by an average of 97 to 99%, and for young women by an average of 55 to 62%. As for states, the worst off is North Carolina, which is expected to see individual-market rates triple for women, and quadruple for men. Nowhere is anyone seeing that promised $2,5000 reduction.

5. Obamacare won't add 'one dime to our deficits'

Obama’s exact words, no one else’s. But again, another broken promise based on the analyses of two respected organizations. The Government Accountability Office's report of Febuary 26, 2013, estimated Obama Care will increase the long-term federal deficit by $6.2 trillion. Even worse, Investor's Business Daily analysis also nullified the Obama promise, reporting the legislation could potentially add $18 trillion in new national debt over time, more than the current sky high $17 trillion that the Federal government has accumulated over CENTURIES due to ALL of its operations.

6. Obama Care will cost around $900 billion over 10 years

Not even close. A Congressional Budget Office’s report from May 2013 puts the real price tag more around the area of $1.8 trillion. This doubling of the estimated cost has happened in just three years since the original $900 billion lie was put forth by the Obama administration. Other reputable sources put the cost at three times the original lie.

7. Families making less than $250,000 won't see 'any form' of tax increase

Not likely. Any tax on businesses increases the costs of doing business, costs that are eventually passed along to consumers and those making less than $250,000 a year. Using a Joint Committee on Taxation 2012 report and Congressional Budget Office information, as well as a Heritage Foundation report, Obama Care’s taxes and penalties will accumulate over $770 billion in new revenue over a 10-year period. Among taxes that'll pound the middle class are the individual mandate tax, the medical device tax, and new penalties and limits on health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts.

8. Obama Care will keep healthcare costs down

Not likely since Obama Care never addressed the underlying root causes of our high health care costs. Even if the website worked well, even if Obama gets the seven million new insurance policies issued, even if identity theft is an overblown threat (it is not), at the end of the day:
  • Americans will still be eating too much of the wrong kind of food and will continue to be overweight and obese, leading to a myriad of health problems and costs.
  • Americans will still smoke too much resulting in cancer and lung diseases and their associated costs.
  • Americans will not exercise enough.
  • Americans will suffer increasingly from aging diseases, e.g. dementia, diseases that are not attacked by this Obama care feeble health care reform attempt.
  • There will still be a need for tort reform in the health care industry.
  • There will still be significant cross state line barriers to insurance company competition.
  • Our food supply and food chain will still be unhealthy.

In other words, all of the issues that caused our high health care costs will still be in place and will be unaddressed by Obama Care even if everything goes right with the legislation. It is just that we will all likely be paying more for Obama Care tenets, requirements, and taxes. Obama Care has a zero percent chance of reducing health care costs.

9. There are deadlines and mandates within the legislation

In this country, the law is usually the law. Politicians in office are then supposed to execute those laws. If they cannot exeucue those laws, they lawfully have to go back through the legislative, democratic process to change those laws, Unless it is Obama Care.

Never has this country witnessed such a blatant disrespect for the law as the Obama administration unilaterally has changed well over a dozen deadlines and dates that were written into the legislation, including but not limited to:
  • In the most blatant change, the administration decided by itself to fix a problem aimed at people who lost their coverage because it didn't measure up to Obama Care standards by changing policy to help people make a deadline to replace dropped insurance plans. Those with inadequate insurance that got canceled were now allowed to claim a “hardship exemption," giving them the option to buy cheaper, minimal coverage plans normally available only to people under 30.
  • Another "fix" came Nov. 14 when the President asked insurers to keep offering those plans for a year even if they don't meet minimum Obama Care requirements.
  • For small businesses, Obama unilaterally moved back the deadline requiring companies with 50 or more employees to offer insurance from January, 2014 to January, 2015.
  • As for sign-up deadlines, it's been confusing. In October, people had until December 15 to pick a plan if they wanted coverage beginning January 1. Then, in November, it was extended to December 23. The goal posts eventually moved again, this time to Christmas Eve, December 24.
  • HHS also pushed back the deadline when the first month's premium would be due, and insurers obliged, extending the payment deadline nine days, to January 10.
These are very serious breeches of the law of the land. It sets a precedent that Congress can create laws but a sitting President can change them at his or her whim. Fortunately, many, many lawsuits are in the process of being heard or filed to attack and stop this insult to our democratic processes.

10. Sure, the national Obama Care exchange is a mess, but the state exchanges are working great.

Not quite. Obama Ccare’s state-run enrollment operations have had major information system delays and low sign-up levels (last month we reported that only 44 people in Oregon had signed up in that state in the first two months). Several states have replaced top executives and Massachusetts and Vermont were investigating legal action against the company, CGI, that built their Obama Care websites: “CGI has consistently underperformed, which is frustrating and a serious concern,” said Jason Lefferts, a spokesman for the Massachusetts' insurance marketplace, Commonwealth Home Connector. “We are holding the vendor accountable for its underperformance and will continue to apply nonstop pressure to work to fix defects and improve performance.”

There you have it, one person’s excellent analysis of the top ten broken promises of the President and Obama Care. It gets this month’s Obama Care review off to a stable start. As we go forward this week, you will see some of the tragic consequences of this ill designed, idiotic piece of legislation and the havoc it is causing America and its citizens.
